सद ही नेड़ै दूरि न जाणहु ॥
He is always near at hand; He is never far away.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਨਜੀਕਿ ਪਛਾਣਹੁ ॥
Gur Kai Sabadh Najeek Pashhaanahu ||
गुर कै सबदि नजीकि पछाणहु ॥
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, realize that He is very near.
ਬਿਗਸੈ ਕਮਲੁ ਕਿਰਣਿ ਪਰਗਾਸੈ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਖਾਇਆ ॥੧੫॥
Bigasai Kamal Kiran Paragaasai Paragatt Kar Dhaekhaaeiaa ||15||
बिगसै कमलु किरणि परगासै परगटु करि देखाइआ ॥१५॥
Your heart-lotus shall blossom forth, and the ray of God's Divine Light shall illuminate your heart; He shall be revealed to You. ||15||
ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਸਚਾ ਸੋਈ ॥
Aapae Karathaa Sachaa Soee ||
आपे करता सचा सोई ॥
The True Lord is Himself the Creator.
ਆਪੇ ਮਾਰਿ ਜੀਵਾਲੇ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥
Aapae Maar Jeevaalae Avar N Koee ||
आपे मारि जीवाले अवरु न कोई ॥
He Himself kills, and gives life; there is no other at all.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧੬॥੨॥੨੪॥
Naanak Naam Milai Vaddiaaee Aap Gavaae Sukh Paaeiaa ||16||2||24||
नानक नामु मिलै वडिआई आपु गवाइ सुखु पाइआ ॥१६॥२॥२४॥
O Nanak, through the Naam, the Name of the Lord, glorious greatness is obtained. Eradicating self-conceit, peace is found. ||16||2||24||

सचा आपि सवारणहारा ॥
The Lord Lord Himself is the One who exalts and embellishes.
ਅਵਰ ਨ ਸੂਝਸਿ ਬੀਜੀ ਕਾਰਾ ॥
Avar N Soojhas Beejee Kaaraa ||
अवर न सूझसि बीजी कारा ॥
Do not consider any other work.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਚੁ ਵਸੈ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਹਜੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧॥
Guramukh Sach Vasai Ghatt Anthar Sehajae Sach Samaaee Hae ||1||
गुरमुखि सचु वसै घट अंतरि सहजे सचि समाई हे ॥१॥
The True Lord abides deep within the heart of the Gurmukh, who intuitively merges in the True Lord. ||1||
ਸਭਨਾ ਸਚੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥
Sabhanaa Sach Vasai Man Maahee ||
सभना सचु वसै मन माही ॥
The True Lord dwells within the minds of all.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਹੀ ॥
Gur Parasaadhee Sehaj Samaahee ||
गुर परसादी सहजि समाही ॥
By Guru's Grace, they are intuitively absorbed in Him.
ਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰਤ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੨॥
Gur Gur Karath Sadhaa Sukh Paaeiaa Gur Charanee Chith Laaee Hae ||2||
गुरु गुरु करत सदा सुखु पाइआ गुर चरणी चितु लाई हे ॥२॥
Calling out, "Guru, Guru", I have found eternal peace; my consciousness is focused on the Guru's feet. ||2||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਹੈ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਹੈ ਪੂਜਾ ॥

सतिगुरु है गिआनु सतिगुरु है पूजा ॥
The True Guru is spiritual wisdom; the True Guru is worship and adoration.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੀ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਦੂਜਾ ॥
Sathigur Saevee Avar N Dhoojaa ||
सतिगुरु सेवी अवरु न दूजा ॥
I serve the True Guru, and no other.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਤਨ ਧਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਭਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੩॥
Sathigur Thae Naam Rathan Dhhan Paaeiaa Sathigur Kee Saevaa Bhaaee Hae ||3||
सतिगुर ते नामु रतन धनु पाइआ सतिगुर की सेवा भाई हे ॥३॥
From the True Guru, I have obtained the wealth, the jewel of the Naam. Service to the True Guru is pleasing to me. ||3||
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਜੋ ਦੂਜੈ ਲਾਗੇ ॥
Bin Sathigur Jo Dhoojai Laagae ||
बिनु सतिगुर जो दूजै लागे ॥
Without the True Guru, those who are attached to duality
ਆਵਹਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਮਰਹਿ ਅਭਾਗੇ ॥
Aavehi Jaahi Bhram Marehi Abhaagae ||
आवहि जाहि भ्रमि मरहि अभागे ॥
Come and go, and wander in reincarnation; these unfortunate ones die.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਜਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਰਹਹਿ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੪॥
Naanak Thin Kee Fir Gath Hovai J Guramukh Rehehi Saranaaee Hae ||4||
नानक तिन की फिरि गति होवै जि गुरमुखि रहहि सरणाई हे ॥४॥
O Nanak, even after they are emancipated, those who become Gurmukh remain in the Guru's Sanctuary. ||4||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਸਾਚੀ ॥
Guramukh Preeth Sadhaa Hai Saachee ||
गुरमुखि प्रीति सदा है साची ॥
The love of the Gurmukh is forever true.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਮਾਗਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਜਾਚੀ ॥
Sathigur Thae Maago Naam Ajaachee ||
सतिगुर ते मागउ नामु अजाची ॥
I beg for the invaluable Naam, the Name of the Lord, from the Guru.
ਹੋਹੁ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਰਖਿ ਲੇਵਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੫॥
Hohu Dhaeiaal Kirapaa Kar Har Jeeo Rakh Laevahu Gur Saranaaee Hae ||5||
होहु दइआलु क्रिपा करि हरि जीउ रखि लेवहु गुर सरणाई हे ॥५॥
O Dear Lord, please be kind, and grant Your Grace; please keep me in the Guru's Sanctuary. ||5||
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਚੁਆਇਆ ॥
Anmrith Ras Sathiguroo Chuaaeiaa ||
अम्रित रसु सतिगुरू चुआइआ ॥
The True Guru trickles the Ambrosial Nectar into my mouth.
ਦਸਵੈ ਦੁਆਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਇ ਆਇਆ ॥
Dhasavai Dhuaar Pragatt Hoe Aaeiaa ||
दसवै दुआरि प्रगटु होइ आइआ ॥
My Tenth Gate has been opened and revealed.
ਤਹ ਅਨਹਦ ਸਬਦ ਵਜਹਿ ਧੁਨਿ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਹਜੇ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੬॥
Theh Anehadh Sabadh Vajehi Dhhun Baanee Sehajae Sehaj Samaaee Hae ||6||
तह अनहद सबद वजहि धुनि बाणी सहजे सहजि समाई हे ॥६॥
The unstruck sound current of the Shabad vibrates and resounds there, with the melody of the Guru's Bani; one is easily, intuitively absorbed in the Lord. ||6||
ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਕਰਤੈ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
Jin Ko Karathai Dhhur Likh Paaee ||
जिन कउ करतै धुरि लिखि पाई ॥
Those who are so pre-ordained by the Creator,
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰਤ ਵਿਹਾਈ ॥
Anadhin Gur Gur Karath Vihaaee ||
अनदिनु गुरु गुरु करत विहाई ॥
Pass their nights and days calling on the Guru.
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੋ ਸੀਝੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੭॥
Bin Sathigur Ko Seejhai Naahee Gur Charanee Chith Laaee Hae ||7||
बिनु सतिगुर को सीझै नाही गुर चरणी चितु लाई हे ॥७॥
Without the True Guru, no one understands; focus your consciousness on the Guru's Feet. ||7||
ਜਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਇ ॥
Jis Bhaavai This Aapae Dhaee ||
जिसु भावै तिसु आपे देइ ॥
The Lord Himself blesses those with whom He is pleased.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਲੇਇ ॥
Guramukh Naam Padhaarathh Laee ||
गुरमुखि नामु पदारथु लेइ ॥
The Gurmukh receives the wealth of the Naam.
ਆਪੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੮॥
Aapae Kirapaa Karae Naam Dhaevai Naanak Naam Samaaee Hae ||8||
आपे क्रिपा करे नामु देवै नानक नामि समाई हे ॥८॥
When the Lord grants His Grace, He bestows the Naam; Nanak is immersed and absorbed in the Naam. ||8||
ਗਿਆਨ ਰਤਨੁ ਮਨਿ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਭਇਆ ॥
Giaan Rathan Man Paragatt Bhaeiaa ||
गिआन रतनु मनि परगटु भइआ ॥
The jewel of spiritual wisdom is revealed within the mind.
ਨਾਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਸਹਜੇ ਲਇਆ ॥
Naam Padhaarathh Sehajae Laeiaa ||
नामु पदारथु सहजे लइआ ॥
The wealth of the Naam is easily, intuitively received.
ਏਹ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਪਾਈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਸਦ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੯॥
Eaeh Vaddiaaee Gur Thae Paaee Sathigur Ko Sadh Bal Jaaee Hae ||9||
एह वडिआई गुर ते पाई सतिगुर कउ सद बलि जाई हे ॥९॥
This glorious greatness is obtained from the Guru; I am forever a sacrifice to the True Guru. ||9||
ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿਆ ਸੂਰੁ ਨਿਸਿ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਅੰਧਿਆਰਾ ॥
Pragattiaa Soor Nis Mittiaa Andhhiaaraa ||
प्रगटिआ सूरु निसि मिटिआ अंधिआरा ॥
With the rising of the sun, the darkness of the night is dispelled.
ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਰਤਨਿ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
Agiaan Mittiaa Gur Rathan Apaaraa ||
अगिआनु मिटिआ गुर रतनि अपारा ॥
Spiritual ignorance is eradicated, by the priceless jewel of the Guru.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਅਤਿ ਭਾਰੀ ਕਰਮਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੦॥
Sathigur Giaan Rathan Ath Bhaaree Karam Milai Sukh Paaee Hae ||10||
सतिगुर गिआनु रतनु अति भारी करमि मिलै सुखु पाई हे ॥१०॥
The True Guru is the fantastically valuable jewel of spiritual wisdom; blessed by God's Mercy, peace is found. ||10||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੀ ਹੈ ਸੋਇ ॥
Guramukh Naam Pragattee Hai Soe ||
गुरमुखि नामु प्रगटी है सोइ ॥
The Gurmukh obtains the Naam, and his good reputation increases.
ਚਹੁ ਜੁਗਿ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹਛਾ ਲੋਇ ॥
Chahu Jug Niramal Hashhaa Loe ||
चहु जुगि निरमलु हछा लोइ ॥
In all four ages he is considered to be pure and good.
ਨਾਮੇ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੧॥
Naamae Naam Rathae Sukh Paaeiaa Naam Rehiaa Liv Laaee Hae ||11||
नामे नामि रते सुखु पाइआ नामि रहिआ लिव लाई हे ॥११॥
Imbued with the Naam, the Name of the Lord, he finds peace. He remains lovingly focused on the Naam. ||11||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਵੈ ॥
Guramukh Naam Paraapath Hovai ||
गुरमुखि नामु परापति होवै ॥
The Gurmukh receives the Naam.
ਸਹਜੇ ਜਾਗੈ ਸਹਜੇ ਸੋਵੈ ॥
Sehajae Jaagai Sehajae Sovai ||
सहजे जागै सहजे सोवै ॥
In intuitive peace he wakes, and in intuitive peace he sleeps.
