Naamae Naam Milai Vaddiaaee Jis No Mann Vasaaeae ||2||
नामे नामि मिलै वडिआई जिस नो मंनि वसाए ॥२॥
Through the Naam, glorious greatness is obtained; he alone obtains it, whose mind is filled with the Lord. ||2||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟੈ ਤਾ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਏ ਸਚੁ ਕਰਣੀ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਰੁ ॥
Sathigur Bhaettai Thaa Fal Paaeae Sach Karanee Sukh Saar ||
सतिगुरु भेटै ता फलु पाए सचु करणी सुख सारु ॥
Meeting the True Guru, the fruitful rewards are obtained. This true lifestyle beings sublime peace.

Sae Jan Niramal Jo Har Laagae Har Naamae Dhharehi Piaar ||3||
से जन निरमल जो हरि लागे हरि नामे धरहि पिआरु ॥३॥
Those humble beings who are attached to the Lord are immaculate; they enshrine love for the Lord's Name. ||3||
ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਰੇਣੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਾਂ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲਾਈ ਜਿਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
Thin Kee Raen Milai Thaan Masathak Laaee Jin Sathigur Pooraa Dhhiaaeiaa ||
तिन की रेणु मिलै तां मसतकि लाई जिन सतिगुरु पूरा धिआइआ ॥
If I obtain the dust of their feet, I apply it to my forehead. They meditate on the Perfect True Guru.

ਸਬਦੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੇ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਜਿਨ ਕੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਸਾਚਾ ਸੋਈ ॥
Sabadh Beechaarae So Jan Saachaa Jin Kai Hiradhai Saachaa Soee ||
सबदु बीचारे सो जनु साचा जिन कै हिरदै साचा सोई ॥
That humble being who contemplates the Word of the Shabad is true; the True Lord is within his heart.
ਸਾਚੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਤਾਂ ਤਨਿ ਦੂਖੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥੧॥
Saachee Bhagath Karehi Dhin Raathee Thaan Than Dhookh N Hoee ||1||
साची भगति करहि दिनु राती तां तनि दूखु न होई ॥१॥
If someone performs true devotional worship day and night, then his body will not feel pain. ||1||

भगतु भगतु कहै सभु कोई ॥
Everyone calls him, ""Devotee, devotee.""
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

बिनु सतिगुर सेवे भगति न पाईऐ पूरै भागि मिलै प्रभु सोई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
But without serving the True Guru, devotional worship is not obtained. Only through perfect destiny does one meet God. ||1||Pause||
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੂਲੁ ਗਵਾਵਹਿ ਲਾਭੁ ਮਾਗਹਿ ਲਾਹਾ ਲਾਭੁ ਕਿਦੂ ਹੋਈ ॥
Manamukh Mool Gavaavehi Laabh Maagehi Laahaa Laabh Kidhoo Hoee ||
मनमुख मूलु गवावहि लाभु मागहि लाहा लाभु किदू होई ॥
The self-willed manmukhs lose their capital, and still, they demand profits. How can they earn any profit?
ਜਮਕਾਲੁ ਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਸਿਰ ਊਪਰਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਪਤਿ ਖੋਈ ॥੨॥
Jamakaal Sadhaa Hai Sir Oopar Dhoojai Bhaae Path Khoee ||2||
जमकालु सदा है सिर ऊपरि दूजै भाइ पति खोई ॥२॥
The Messenger of Death is always hovering above their heads. In the love of duality, they lose their honor. ||2||
ਬਹਲੇ ਭੇਖ ਭਵਹਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
Behalae Bhaekh Bhavehi Dhin Raathee Houmai Rog N Jaaee ||
बहले भेख भवहि दिनु राती हउमै रोगु न जाई ॥
Trying on all sorts of religious robes, they wander around day and night, but the disease of their egotism is not cured.
ਪੜਿ ਪੜਿ ਲੂਝਹਿ ਬਾਦੁ ਵਖਾਣਹਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਗਵਾਈ ॥੩॥
Parr Parr Loojhehi Baadh Vakhaanehi Mil Maaeiaa Surath Gavaaee ||3||
पड़ि पड़ि लूझहि बादु वखाणहि मिलि माइआ सुरति गवाई ॥३॥
Reading and studying, they argue and debate; attached to Maya, they lose their awareness. ||3||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
Sathigur Saevehi Param Gath Paavehi Naam Milai Vaddiaaee ||
सतिगुरु सेवहि परम गति पावहि नामि मिलै वडिआई ॥
Those who serve the True Guru are blessed with the supreme status; through the Naam, they are blessed with glorious greatness.

Manamukh Aasaa Nehee Outharai Dhoojai Bhaae Khuaaeae ||
मनमुख आसा नही उतरै दूजै भाइ खुआए ॥
The self-willed manmukh cannot escape false hope. In the love of duality, he is ruined.
ਉਦਰੁ ਨੈ ਸਾਣੁ ਨ ਭਰੀਐ ਕਬਹੂ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਅਗਨਿ ਪਚਾਏ ॥੧॥
Oudhar Nai Saan N Bhareeai Kabehoo Thrisanaa Agan Pachaaeae ||1||
उदरु नै साणु न भरीऐ कबहू त्रिसना अगनि पचाए ॥१॥
His belly is like a river - it is never filled up. He is consumed by the fire of desire. ||1||

सदा अनंदु राम रसि राते ॥
Eternally blissful are those who are imbued with the sublime essence of the Lord.
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਤੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Hiradhai Naam Dhubidhhaa Man Bhaagee Har Har Anmrith Pee Thripathaathae ||1|| Rehaao ||
हिरदै नामु दुबिधा मनि भागी हरि हरि अम्रितु पी त्रिपताते ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
The Naam, the Name of the Lord, fills their hearts, and duality runs away from their minds. Drinking in the Ambrosial Nectar of the Lord, Har, Har, they are satisfied. ||1||Pause||
ਆਪੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਾਜੀ ਸਿਰਿ ਸਿਰਿ ਧੰਧੈ ਲਾਏ ॥

आपे पारब्रहमु स्रिसटि जिनि साजी सिरि सिरि धंधै लाए ॥
The Supreme Lord God Himself created the Universe; He links each and every person to their tasks.
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਕੀਆ ਜਿਨਿ ਆਪੇ ਆਪੇ ਦੂਜੈ ਲਾਏ ॥੨॥
Maaeiaa Mohu Keeaa Jin Aapae Aapae Dhoojai Laaeae ||2||
माइआ मोहु कीआ जिनि आपे आपे दूजै लाए ॥२॥
He Himself created love and attachment to Maya; He Himself attaches the mortals to duality. ||2||
ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਕਿਹੁ ਕਹੀਐ ਜੇ ਦੂਜਾ ਹੋਵੈ ਸਭਿ ਤੁਧੈ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥
This No Kihu Keheeai Jae Dhoojaa Hovai Sabh Thudhhai Maahi Samaaeae ||
तिस नो किहु कहीऐ जे दूजा होवै सभि तुधै माहि समाए ॥
If there were any other, then I would speak to him; all will be merged in You.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਤਤੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥੩॥
Guramukh Giaan Thath Beechaaraa Jothee Joth Milaaeae ||3||
गुरमुखि गिआनु ततु बीचारा जोती जोति मिलाए ॥३॥
The Gurmukh contemplates the essence of spiritual wisdom; his light merges into the Light. ||3||
ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਭੁ ਆਕਾਰਾ ॥
So Prabh Saachaa Sadh Hee Saachaa Saachaa Sabh Aakaaraa ||
सो प्रभु साचा सद ही साचा साचा सभु आकारा ॥
God is True, Forever True, and all His Creation is True.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਈ ਸਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ॥੪॥੫॥੧੫॥

Kal Mehi Praeth Jinhee Raam N Pashhaathaa Sathajug Param Hans Beechaaree ||
कलि महि प्रेत जिन्ही रामु न पछाता सतजुगि परम हंस बीचारी ॥
In this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, those who do not realize the Lord are goblins. In the Golden Age of Sat Yuga, the supreme soul-swans contemplated the Lord.
ਦੁਆਪੁਰਿ ਤ੍ਰੇਤੈ ਮਾਣਸ ਵਰਤਹਿ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
Dhuaapur Thraethai Maanas Varathehi Viralai Houmai Maaree ||1||
दुआपुरि त्रेतै माणस वरतहि विरलै हउमै मारी ॥१॥
In the Silver Age of Dwaapur Yuga, and the Brass Age of Traytaa Yuga, mankind prevailed, but only a rare few subdued their egos. ||1||

Jug Jug Guramukh Eaeko Jaathaa Vin Naavai Mukath N Paaee ||1|| Rehaao ||
जुगि जुगि गुरमुखि एको जाता विणु नावै मुकति न पाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
In each and every age, the Gurmukhs know the One Lord; without the Name, liberation is not attained. ||1||Pause||
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਲਖੈ ਜਨੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਈ ॥
Hiradhai Naam Lakhai Jan Saachaa Guramukh Mann Vasaaee ||
हिरदै नामु लखै जनु साचा गुरमुखि मंनि वसाई ॥
The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is revealed in the heart of the True Lord's humble servant. It dwells in the mind of the Gurmukh.
ਆਪਿ ਤਰੇ ਸਗਲੇ ਕੁਲ ਤਾਰੇ ਜਿਨੀ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥੨॥
Aap Tharae Sagalae Kul Thaarae Jinee Raam Naam Liv Laaee ||2||
आपि तरे सगले कुल तारे जिनी राम नामि लिव लाई ॥२॥
Those who are lovingly focused on the Lord's Name save themselves; they save all their ancestors as well. ||2||
ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਣ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾ ਅਵਗਣ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਏ ॥
Maeraa Prabh Hai Gun Kaa Dhaathaa Avagan Sabadh Jalaaeae ||
मेरा प्रभु है गुण का दाता अवगण सबदि जलाए ॥
My Lord God is the Giver of virtue. The Word of the Shabad burns away all faults and demerits.
