ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਰਤੜੀਏ ਸਹਜਿ ਮਿਲੀਜੈ ॥

अनदिनु रतड़ीए सहजि मिलीजै ॥
Night and day, imbued with His Love, you shall meet with Him with intuitive ease.
ਸੁਖਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਮਿਲੀਜੈ ਰੋਸੁ ਨ ਕੀਜੈ ਗਰਬੁ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥
Sukh Sehaj Mileejai Ros N Keejai Garab Nivaar Samaanee ||
सुखि सहजि मिलीजै रोसु न कीजै गरबु निवारि समाणी ॥
In celestial peace and poise, you shall meet Him; do not harbor anger - subdue your proud self!
ਸਾਚੈ ਰਾਤੀ ਮਿਲੈ ਮਿਲਾਈ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੀ ॥
Saachai Raathee Milai Milaaee Manamukh Aavan Jaanee ||
साचै राती मिलै मिलाई मनमुखि आवण जाणी ॥
Imbued with Truth, I am united in His Union, while the self-willed manmukhs continue coming and going.
ਜਬ ਨਾਚੀ ਤਬ ਘੂਘਟੁ ਕੈਸਾ ਮਟੁਕੀ ਫੋੜਿ ਨਿਰਾਰੀ ॥
Jab Naachee Thab Ghooghatt Kaisaa Mattukee Forr Niraaree ||
जब नाची तब घूघटु कैसा मटुकी फोड़ि निरारी ॥
When you dance, what veil covers you? Break the water pot, and be unattached.
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪੈ ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਤਤੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ॥੪॥੪॥

मेरे लाल रंगीले हम लालन के लाले ॥
O my Dear Beloved, I am the slave of Your slaves.
ਗੁਰਿ ਅਲਖੁ ਲਖਾਇਆ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਲੇ ॥
Gur Alakh Lakhaaeiaa Avar N Dhoojaa Bhaalae ||
गुरि अलखु लखाइआ अवरु न दूजा भाले ॥
The Guru has shown me the Invisible Lord, and now, I do not seek any other.
ਗੁਰਿ ਅਲਖੁ ਲਖਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ॥
Gur Alakh Lakhaaeiaa Jaa This Bhaaeiaa Jaa Prabh Kirapaa Dhhaaree ||
गुरि अलखु लखाइआ जा तिसु भाइआ जा प्रभि किरपा धारी ॥
The Guru showed me the Invisible Lord, when it pleased Him, and when God showered His Blessings.
ਜਗਜੀਵਨੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ਸਹਜਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਬਨਵਾਰੀ ॥
Jagajeevan Dhaathaa Purakh Bidhhaathaa Sehaj Milae Banavaaree ||
जगजीवनु दाता पुरखु बिधाता सहजि मिले बनवारी ॥
The Life of the World, the Great Giver, the Primal Lord, the Architect of Destiny, the Lord of the woods - I have met Him with intuitive ease.
ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਤੂ ਤਾਰਹਿ ਤਰੀਐ ਸਚੁ ਦੇਵਹੁ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
Nadhar Karehi Thoo Thaarehi Thareeai Sach Dhaevahu Dheen Dhaeiaalaa ||
नदरि करहि तू तारहि तरीऐ सचु देवहु दीन दइआला ॥
Bestow Your Glance of Grace and carry me across, to save me. Please bless me with the Truth, O Lord, Merciful to the meek.

भरिपुरि धारि रहे अति पिआरे ॥
My Dear Beloved is enshrined throughout the Universe.
ਸਬਦੇ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਰੂਪਿ ਮੁਰਾਰੇ ॥
Sabadhae Rav Rehiaa Gur Roop Muraarae ||
सबदे रवि रहिआ गुर रूपि मुरारे ॥
The Shabad is pervading, through the Guru, the Embodiment of the Lord.
ਗੁਰ ਰੂਪ ਮੁਰਾਰੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣ ਧਾਰੇ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
Gur Roop Muraarae Thribhavan Dhhaarae Thaa Kaa Anth N Paaeiaa ||
गुर रूप मुरारे त्रिभवण धारे ता का अंतु न पाइआ ॥
The Guru, the Embodiment of the Lord, is enshrined throughout the three worlds; His limits cannot be found.
ਰੰਗੀ ਜਿਨਸੀ ਜੰਤ ਉਪਾਏ ਨਿਤ ਦੇਵੈ ਚੜੈ ਸਵਾਇਆ ॥
Rangee Jinasee Janth Oupaaeae Nith Dhaevai Charrai Savaaeiaa ||
रंगी जिनसी जंत उपाए नित देवै चड़ै सवाइआ ॥
He created the beings of various colors and kinds; His Blessings increase day by day.
ਅਪਰੰਪਰੁ ਆਪੇ ਥਾਪਿ ਉਥਾਪੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਹੋਵੈ ॥
Aparanpar Aapae Thhaap Outhhaapae This Bhaavai So Hovai ||
अपर्मपरु आपे थापि उथापे तिसु भावै सो होवै ॥
The Infinite Lord Himself establishes and disestablishes; whatever pleases Him, happens.
ਨਾਨਕ ਹੀਰਾ ਹੀਰੈ ਬੇਧਿਆ ਗੁਣ ਕੈ ਹਾਰਿ ਪਰੋਵੈ ॥੨॥

नानक हीरा हीरै बेधिआ गुण कै हारि परोवै ॥२॥
O Nanak, the diamond of the mind is pierced through by the diamond of spiritual wisdom. The garland of virtue is strung. ||2||
ਗੁਣ ਗੁਣਹਿ ਸਮਾਣੇ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਨਾਮ ਨੀਸਾਣੋ ॥
Gun Gunehi Samaanae Masathak Naam Neesaano ||
गुण गुणहि समाणे मसतकि नाम नीसाणो ॥
The virtuous person merges in the Virtuous Lord; his forehead bears the insignia of the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਸਚੁ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ਚੂਕਾ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੋ ॥
Sach Saach Samaaeiaa Chookaa Aavan Jaano ||
सचु साचि समाइआ चूका आवण जाणो ॥
The true person merges in the True Lord; his comings and goings are over.
ਸਚੁ ਸਾਚਿ ਪਛਾਤਾ ਸਾਚੈ ਰਾਤਾ ਸਾਚੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵੈ ॥

सचु साचि पछाता साचै राता साचु मिलै मनि भावै ॥
The true person realizes the True Lord, and is imbued with Truth. He meets the True Lord, and is pleasing to the Lord's Mind.
ਸਾਚੇ ਊਪਰਿ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਦੀਸੈ ਸਾਚੇ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥
Saachae Oopar Avar N Dheesai Saachae Saach Samaavai ||
साचे ऊपरि अवरु न दीसै साचे साचि समावै ॥
No one else is seen to be above the True Lord; the true person merges in the True Lord.
ਮੋਹਨਿ ਮੋਹਿ ਲੀਆ ਮਨੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਬੰਧਨ ਖੋਲਿ ਨਿਰਾਰੇ ॥
Mohan Mohi Leeaa Man Maeraa Bandhhan Khol Niraarae ||
मोहनि मोहि लीआ मनु मेरा बंधन खोलि निरारे ॥
The Fascinating Lord has fascinated my mind; releasing me from bondage, He has set me free.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ਜਾ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਅਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥੩॥

नानक जोती जोति समाणी जा मिलिआ अति पिआरे ॥३॥
O Nanak, my light merged into the Light, when I met my most Darling Beloved. ||3||
ਸਚ ਘਰੁ ਖੋਜਿ ਲਹੇ ਸਾਚਾ ਗੁਰ ਥਾਨੋ ॥
Sach Ghar Khoj Lehae Saachaa Gur Thhaano ||
सच घरु खोजि लहे साचा गुर थानो ॥
By searching, the true home, the place of the True Guru is found.
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਨਹ ਪਾਈਐ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਗਿਆਨੋ ॥
Manamukh Neh Paaeeai Guramukh Giaano ||
मनमुखि नह पाईऐ गुरमुखि गिआनो ॥
The Gurmukh obtains spiritual wisdom, while the self-willed manmukh does not.
ਦੇਵੈ ਸਚੁ ਦਾਨੋ ਸੋ ਪਰਵਾਨੋ ਸਦ ਦਾਤਾ ਵਡ ਦਾਣਾ ॥
Dhaevai Sach Dhaano So Paravaano Sadh Dhaathaa Vadd Dhaanaa ||
देवै सचु दानो सो परवानो सद दाता वड दाणा ॥
Whoever the Lord has blessed with the gift of Truth is accepted; the Supremely Wise Lord is forever the Great Giver.
ਅਮਰੁ ਅਜੋਨੀ ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਜਾਪੈ ਸਾਚਾ ਮਹਲੁ ਚਿਰਾਣਾ ॥
Amar Ajonee Asathhir Jaapai Saachaa Mehal Chiraanaa ||
अमरु अजोनी असथिरु जापै साचा महलु चिराणा ॥
He is known to be Immortal, Unborn and Permanent; the True Mansion of His Presence is everlasting.
ਦੋਤਿ ਉਚਾਪਤਿ ਲੇਖੁ ਨ ਲਿਖੀਐ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥
Dhoth Ouchaapath Laekh N Likheeai Pragattee Joth Muraaree ||
दोति उचापति लेखु न लिखीऐ प्रगटी जोति मुरारी ॥
The day-to-day account of deeds is not recorded for that person, who manifests the radiance of the Divine Light of the Lord.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਚੈ ਰਾਚਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਤਰੀਐ ਤਾਰੀ ॥੪॥੫॥
Naanak Saachaa Saachai Raachaa Guramukh Thareeai Thaaree ||4||5||
नानक साचा साचै राचा गुरमुखि तरीऐ तारी ॥४॥५॥
O Nanak, the true person is absorbed in the True Lord; the Gurmukh crosses over to the other side. ||4||5||

ए मन मेरिआ तू समझु अचेत इआणिआ राम ॥
O my ignorant, unconscious mind, reform yourself.
ਏ ਮਨ ਮੇਰਿਆ ਛਡਿ ਅਵਗਣ ਗੁਣੀ ਸਮਾਣਿਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
Eae Man Maeriaa Shhadd Avagan Gunee Samaaniaa Raam ||
ए मन मेरिआ छडि अवगण गुणी समाणिआ राम ॥
O my mind, leave behind your faults and demerits, and be absorbed in virtue.
ਬਹੁ ਸਾਦ ਲੁਭਾਣੇ ਕਿਰਤ ਕਮਾਣੇ ਵਿਛੁੜਿਆ ਨਹੀ ਮੇਲਾ ॥
Bahu Saadh Lubhaanae Kirath Kamaanae Vishhurriaa Nehee Maelaa ||
बहु साद लुभाणे किरत कमाणे विछुड़िआ नही मेला ॥
You are deluded by so many flavors and pleasures, and you act in such confusion. You are separated, and you will not meet your Lord.
ਕਿਉ ਦੁਤਰੁ ਤਰੀਐ ਜਮ ਡਰਿ ਮਰੀਐ ਜਮ ਕਾ ਪੰਥੁ ਦੁਹੇਲਾ ॥
Kio Dhuthar Thareeai Jam Ddar Mareeai Jam Kaa Panthh Dhuhaelaa ||
किउ दुतरु तरीऐ जम डरि मरीऐ जम का पंथु दुहेला ॥
How can the impassible world-ocean be crossed? The fear of the Messenger of Death is deadly. The path of Death is agonizingly painful.
ਮਨਿ ਰਾਮੁ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਤਾ ਸਾਝ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਤਾ ਅਵਘਟਿ ਰੁਧਾ ਕਿਆ ਕਰੇ ॥
Man Raam Nehee Jaathaa Saajh Prabhaathaa Avaghatt Rudhhaa Kiaa Karae ||
मनि रामु नही जाता साझ प्रभाता अवघटि रुधा किआ करे ॥
The mortal does not know the Lord in the evening, or in the morning; trapped on the treacherous path, what will he do then?
ਬੰਧਨਿ ਬਾਧਿਆ ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਛੂਟੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੇਵੈ ਨਰਹਰੇ ॥੧॥
Bandhhan Baadhhiaa Ein Bidhh Shhoottai Guramukh Saevai Nareharae ||1||
बंधनि बाधिआ इन बिधि छूटै गुरमुखि सेवै नरहरे ॥१॥
Bound in bondage, he is released only by this method: as Gurmukh, serve the Lord. ||1||
ਏ ਮਨ ਮੇਰਿਆ ਤੂ ਛੋਡਿ ਆਲ ਜੰਜਾਲਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
Eae Man Maeriaa Thoo Shhodd Aal Janjaalaa Raam ||
ए मन मेरिआ तू छोडि आल जंजाला राम ॥
O my mind, abandon your household entanglements.
ਏ ਮਨ ਮੇਰਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਹੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਾਲਾ ਰਾਮ ॥

ए मन मेरिआ हरि सेवहु पुरखु निराला राम ॥
O my mind, serve the Lord, the Primal, Detached Lord.
