ਕਰਤਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਨਿਹਚਉ ਹੋਵੈ ॥
Karathaa Karae S Nihacho Hovai ||
करता करे सु निहचउ होवै ॥
Whatever the Creator does, surely comes to pass.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਖੋਵੈ ॥
Gur Kai Sabadhae Houmai Khovai ||
गुर कै सबदे हउमै खोवै ॥
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, egotism is consumed.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਕਿਸੈ ਦੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਨਾਮੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਦਾ ॥੫॥
Gur Parasaadhee Kisai Dhae Vaddiaaee Naamo Naam Dhhiaaeidhaa ||5||
गुर परसादी किसै दे वडिआई नामो नामु धिआइदा ॥५॥
By Guru's Grace, some are blessed with glorious greatness; they meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||5||
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਹੋਰੁ ਲਾਹਾ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
Gur Saevae Jaevadd Hor Laahaa Naahee ||
गुर सेवे जेवडु होरु लाहा नाही ॥
There is no other profit as great as service to the Guru.
ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਨਾਮੋ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ॥
Naam Mann Vasai Naamo Saalaahee ||
नामु मंनि वसै नामो सालाही ॥
The Naam abides within my mind, and I praise the Naam.
ਨਾਮੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਨਾਮੋ ਲਾਹਾ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੬॥
Naamo Naam Sadhaa Sukhadhaathaa Naamo Laahaa Paaeidhaa ||6||
नामो नामु सदा सुखदाता नामो लाहा पाइदा ॥६॥
The Naam is forever the Giver of peace. Through the Naam, we earn the profit. ||6||
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਸਭ ਦੁਖੁ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥
Bin Naavai Sabh Dhukh Sansaaraa ||
बिनु नावै सभ दुखु संसारा ॥
Without the Name, all the world suffers in misery.
ਬਹੁ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਵਧਹਿ ਵਿਕਾਰਾ ॥
Bahu Karam Kamaavehi Vadhhehi Vikaaraa ||
बहु करम कमावहि वधहि विकारा ॥
The more actions one does, the more the corruption increases.
ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਕਿਉ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੭॥
Naam N Saevehi Kio Sukh Paaeeai Bin Naavai Dhukh Paaeidhaa ||7||
नामु न सेवहि किउ सुखु पाईऐ बिनु नावै दुखु पाइदा ॥७॥
Without serving the Naam, how can anyone find peace? Without the Naam, one suffers in pain. ||7||
ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਤੈ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਾਏ ॥
Aap Karae Thai Aap Karaaeae ||
आपि करे तै आपि कराए ॥
He Himself acts, and inspires all to act.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਕਿਸੈ ਬੁਝਾਏ ॥
Gur Parasaadhee Kisai Bujhaaeae ||
गुर परसादी किसै बुझाए ॥
By Guru's Grace, He reveals Himself to a few.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਸੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਤੋੜਹਿ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੮॥
Guramukh Hovehi Sae Bandhhan Thorrehi Mukathee Kai Ghar Paaeidhaa ||8||
गुरमुखि होवहि से बंधन तोड़हि मुकती कै घरि पाइदा ॥८॥
One who becomes Gurmukh breaks his bonds, and attains the home of liberation. ||8||
ਗਣਤ ਗਣੈ ਸੋ ਜਲੈ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥
Ganath Ganai So Jalai Sansaaraa ||
गणत गणै सो जलै संसारा ॥
One who calculates his accounts, burns in the world.
ਸਹਸਾ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਚੁਕੈ ਵਿਕਾਰਾ ॥
Sehasaa Mool N Chukai Vikaaraa ||
सहसा मूलि न चुकै विकारा ॥
His skepticism and corruption are never dispelled.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੁ ਗਣਤ ਚੁਕਾਏ ਸਚੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਇਦਾ ॥੯॥
Guramukh Hovai S Ganath Chukaaeae Sachae Sach Samaaeidhaa ||9||
गुरमुखि होवै सु गणत चुकाए सचे सचि समाइदा ॥९॥
One who becomes Gurmukh abandons his calculations; through Truth, we merge in the True Lord. ||9||
ਜੇ ਸਚੁ ਦੇਇ ਤ ਪਾਏ ਕੋਈ ॥
Jae Sach Dhaee Th Paaeae Koee ||
जे सचु देइ त पाए कोई ॥
If God grants Truth, then we may attain it.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਈ ॥
Gur Parasaadhee Paragatt Hoee ||
गुर परसादी परगटु होई ॥
By Guru's Grace, it is revealed.
ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੇ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੦॥
Sach Naam Saalaahae Rang Raathaa Gur Kirapaa Thae Sukh Paaeidhaa ||10||
सचु नामु सालाहे रंगि राता गुर किरपा ते सुखु पाइदा ॥१०॥
One who praises the True Name, and remains imbued with the Lord's Love, by Guru's Grace, finds peace. ||10||
ਜਪੁ ਤਪੁ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ॥
Jap Thap Sanjam Naam Piaaraa ||
जपु तपु संजमु नामु पिआरा ॥
The Beloved Naam, the Name of the Lord, is chanting, meditation, penance and self-control.
ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਕਾਟੇ ਕਾਟਣਹਾਰਾ ॥
Kilavikh Kaattae Kaattanehaaraa ||
किलविख काटे काटणहारा ॥
God, the Destroyer, destroys sins.
ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਹੋਆ ਸਹਜੇ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੧॥
Har Kai Naam Than Man Seethal Hoaa Sehajae Sehaj Samaaeidhaa ||11||
हरि कै नामि तनु मनु सीतलु होआ सहजे सहजि समाइदा ॥११॥
Through the Name of the Lord, the body and mind are cooled and soothed, and one is intuitively, easily absorbed into the Celestial Lord. ||11||
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਲੋਭੁ ਮਨਿ ਮੈਲੈ ਮਲੁ ਲਾਏ ॥
Anthar Lobh Man Mailai Mal Laaeae ||
अंतरि लोभु मनि मैलै मलु लाए ॥
With greed within them, their minds are filthy, and they spread filth around.
ਮੈਲੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਰੇ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
Mailae Karam Karae Dhukh Paaeae ||
मैले करम करे दुखु पाए ॥
They do filthy deeds, and suffer in pain.
ਕੂੜੋ ਕੂੜੁ ਕਰੇ ਵਾਪਾਰਾ ਕੂੜੁ ਬੋਲਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੨॥
Koorro Koorr Karae Vaapaaraa Koorr Bol Dhukh Paaeidhaa ||12||
कूड़ो कूड़ु करे वापारा कूड़ु बोलि दुखु पाइदा ॥१२॥
They deal in falsehood, and nothing but falsehood; telling lies, they suffer in pain. ||12||
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਬਾਣੀ ਕੋ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥
Niramal Baanee Ko Mann Vasaaeae ||
निरमल बाणी को मंनि वसाए ॥
Rare is that person who enshrines the Immaculate Bani of the Guru's Word within his mind.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸਹਸਾ ਜਾਏ ॥
Gur Parasaadhee Sehasaa Jaaeae ||
गुर परसादी सहसा जाए ॥
By Guru's Grace, his skepticism is removed.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਚਲੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਚੇਤਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੩॥
Gur Kai Bhaanai Chalai Dhin Raathee Naam Chaeth Sukh Paaeidhaa ||13||
गुर कै भाणै चलै दिनु राती नामु चेति सुखु पाइदा ॥१३॥
He walks in harmony with the Guru's Will, day and night; remembering the Naam, the Name of the Lord, he finds peace. ||13||
ਆਪਿ ਸਿਰੰਦਾ ਸਚਾ ਸੋਈ ॥
Aap Sirandhaa Sachaa Soee ||
आपि सिरंदा सचा सोई ॥
The True Lord Himself is the Creator.
ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾਇ ਖਪਾਏ ਸੋਈ ॥
Aap Oupaae Khapaaeae Soee ||
आपि उपाइ खपाए सोई ॥
He Himself creates and destroys.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਲਾਹੇ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਚੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੪॥
Guramukh Hovai S Sadhaa Salaahae Mil Saachae Sukh Paaeidhaa ||14||
गुरमुखि होवै सु सदा सलाहे मिलि साचे सुखु पाइदा ॥१४॥
One who becomes Gurmukh, praises the Lord forever. Meeting the True Lord, he finds peace. ||14||
ਅਨੇਕ ਜਤਨ ਕਰੇ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀ ਵਸਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥
Anaek Jathan Karae Eindhree Vas N Hoee ||
अनेक जतन करे इंद्री वसि न होई ॥
Making countless efforts, sexual desire is not overcome.
ਕਾਮਿ ਕਰੋਧਿ ਜਲੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਈ ॥
Kaam Karodhh Jalai Sabh Koee ||
कामि करोधि जलै सभु कोई ॥
Everyone is burning in the fires of sexuality and anger.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਮਨੁ ਵਸਿ ਆਵੈ ਮਨ ਮਾਰੇ ਮਨਹਿ ਸਮਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੫॥
Sathigur Saevae Man Vas Aavai Man Maarae Manehi Samaaeidhaa ||15||
सतिगुर सेवे मनु वसि आवै मन मारे मनहि समाइदा ॥१५॥
Serving the True Guru, one brings his mind under control; conquering his mind, he merges in the Mind of God. ||15||
ਮੇਰਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਕੀਆ ॥
Maeraa Thaeraa Thudhh Aapae Keeaa ||
मेरा तेरा तुधु आपे कीआ ॥
You Yourself created the sense of 'mine' and 'yours.'
ਸਭਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਜੰਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਭਿ ਜੀਆ ॥
Sabh Thaerae Janth Thaerae Sabh Jeeaa ||
सभि तेरे जंत तेरे सभि जीआ ॥
All creatures are Yours; You created all beings.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ਸਦਾ ਤੂ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੬॥੪॥੧੮॥
Naanak Naam Samaal Sadhaa Thoo Guramathee Mann Vasaaeidhaa ||16||4||18||
नानक नामु समालि सदा तू गुरमती मंनि वसाइदा ॥१६॥४॥१८॥
O Nanak, contemplate the Naam forever; through the Guru's Teachings, the Lord abides in the mind. ||16||4||18||

हरि जीउ दाता अगम अथाहा ॥
The Dear Lord is the Giver, inaccessible and unfathomable.
ਓਸੁ ਤਿਲੁ ਨ ਤਮਾਇ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹਾ ॥
Ous Thil N Thamaae Vaeparavaahaa ||
ओसु तिलु न तमाइ वेपरवाहा ॥
He does not have even an iota of greed; He is self-sufficient.
ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਅਪੜਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਕੋਈ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਦਾ ॥੧॥
This No Aparr N Sakai Koee Aapae Mael Milaaeidhaa ||1||
तिस नो अपड़ि न सकै कोई आपे मेलि मिलाइदा ॥१॥
No one can reach up to Him; He Himself unites in His Union. ||1||
ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੈ ਸੁ ਨਿਹਚਉ ਹੋਈ ॥
Jo Kishh Karai S Nihacho Hoee ||
जो किछु करै सु निहचउ होई ॥
Whatever He does, surely comes to pass.
ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥
This Bin Dhaathaa Avar N Koee ||
तिसु बिनु दाता अवरु न कोई ॥
There is no other Giver, except for Him.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਨਾਮ ਦਾਨੁ ਕਰੇ ਸੋ ਪਾਏ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਮੇਲਾਇਦਾ ॥੨॥
Jis No Naam Dhaan Karae So Paaeae Gur Sabadhee Maelaaeidhaa ||2||
जिस नो नाम दानु करे सो पाए गुर सबदी मेलाइदा ॥२॥
Whoever the Lord blesses with His gift, obtains it. Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, He unites him with Himself. ||2||
ਚਉਦਹ ਭਵਣ ਤੇਰੇ ਹਟਨਾਲੇ ॥
Choudheh Bhavan Thaerae Hattanaalae ||
चउदह भवण तेरे हटनाले ॥
The fourteen worlds are Your markets.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦਿਖਾਏ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਨਾਲੇ ॥
Sathigur Dhikhaaeae Anthar Naalae ||
सतिगुरि दिखाए अंतरि नाले ॥
The True Guru reveals them, along with one's inner being.
ਨਾਵੈ ਕਾ ਵਾਪਾਰੀ ਹੋਵੈ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਕੋ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੩॥
Naavai Kaa Vaapaaree Hovai Gur Sabadhee Ko Paaeidhaa ||3||
नावै का वापारी होवै गुर सबदी को पाइदा ॥३॥
One who deals in the Name, through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, obtains it. ||3||
