ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਜੀਅ ਉਪਾਏ ॥
Lakh Chouraaseeh Jeea Oupaaeae ||
लख चउरासीह जीअ उपाए ॥
He created the 8.4 million species of beings.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥
Jis No Nadhar Karae This Guroo Milaaeae ||
जिस नो नदरि करे तिसु गुरू मिलाए ॥
Those, upon whom He casts His Glance of Grace, come to meet the Guru.
ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਕਾਟਿ ਸਦਾ ਜਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਦਰਿ ਸਚੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਸੁਹਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥
Kilabikh Kaatt Sadhaa Jan Niramal Dhar Sachai Naam Suhaavaniaa ||6||
किलबिख काटि सदा जन निरमल दरि सचै नामि सुहावणिआ ॥६॥
Shedding their sins, His servants are forever pure; at the True Court, they are beautified by the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||6||
ਲੇਖਾ ਮਾਗੈ ਤਾ ਕਿਨਿ ਦੀਐ ॥
Laekhaa Maagai Thaa Kin Dheeai ||
लेखा मागै ता किनि दीऐ ॥
When they are called to settle their accounts, who will answer then?
ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਫੁਨਿ ਦੂਐ ਤੀਐ ॥
Sukh Naahee Fun Dhooai Theeai ||
सुखु नाही फुनि दूऐ तीऐ ॥
There shall be no peace then, from counting out by twos and threes.
ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸਿ ਲਏ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥
Aapae Bakhas Leae Prabh Saachaa Aapae Bakhas Milaavaniaa ||7||
आपे बखसि लए प्रभु साचा आपे बखसि मिलावणिआ ॥७॥
The True Lord God Himself forgives, and having forgiven, He unites them with Himself. ||7||
ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਤੈ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਾਏ ॥
Aap Karae Thai Aap Karaaeae ||
आपि करे तै आपि कराए ॥
He Himself does, and He Himself causes all to be done.
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥
Poorae Gur Kai Sabadh Milaaeae ||
पूरे गुर कै सबदि मिलाए ॥
Through the Shabad, the Word of the Perfect Guru, He is met.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੨॥੩॥
Naanak Naam Milai Vaddiaaee Aapae Mael Milaavaniaa ||8||2||3||
नानक नामु मिलै वडिआई आपे मेलि मिलावणिआ ॥८॥२॥३॥
O Nanak, through the Naam, greatness is obtained. He Himself unites in His Union. ||8||2||3||

माझ महला ३ ॥
Maajh, Third Mehl:
ਇਕੋ ਆਪਿ ਫਿਰੈ ਪਰਛੰਨਾ ॥
Eiko Aap Firai Parashhannaa ||
इको आपि फिरै परछंना ॥
The One Lord Himself moves about imperceptibly.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵੇਖਾ ਤਾ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਭਿੰਨਾ ॥
Guramukh Vaekhaa Thaa Eihu Man Bhinnaa ||
गुरमुखि वेखा ता इहु मनु भिंना ॥
As Gurmukh, I see Him, and then this mind is pleased and uplifted.
ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਤਜਿ ਸਹਜ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਏਕੋ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥
Thrisanaa Thaj Sehaj Sukh Paaeiaa Eaeko Mann Vasaavaniaa ||1||
त्रिसना तजि सहज सुखु पाइआ एको मंनि वसावणिआ ॥१॥
Renouncing desire, I have found intuitive peace and poise; I have enshrined the One within my mind. ||1||
ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਇਕਸੁ ਸਿਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥
Ho Vaaree Jeeo Vaaree Eikas Sio Chith Laavaniaa ||
हउ वारी जीउ वारी इकसु सिउ चितु लावणिआ ॥
I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those who focus their consciousness on the One.
ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਮਨੁ ਇਕਤੁ ਘਰਿ ਆਇਆ ਸਚੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰੰਗਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Guramathee Man Eikath Ghar Aaeiaa Sachai Rang Rangaavaniaa ||1|| Rehaao ||
गुरमती मनु इकतु घरि आइआ सचै रंगि रंगावणिआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Through the Guru's Teachings, my mind has come to its only home; it is imbued with the True Color of the Lord's Love. ||1||Pause||
ਇਹੁ ਜਗੁ ਭੂਲਾ ਤੈਂ ਆਪਿ ਭੁਲਾਇਆ ॥
Eihu Jag Bhoolaa Thain Aap Bhulaaeiaa ||
इहु जगु भूला तैं आपि भुलाइआ ॥
This world is deluded; You Yourself have deluded it.
ਇਕੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਲੋਭਾਇਆ ॥
Eik Visaar Dhoojai Lobhaaeiaa ||
इकु विसारि दूजै लोभाइआ ॥
Forgetting the One, it has become engrossed in duality.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਫਿਰੈ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਭੂਲਾ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥
Anadhin Sadhaa Firai Bhram Bhoolaa Bin Naavai Dhukh Paavaniaa ||2||
अनदिनु सदा फिरै भ्रमि भूला बिनु नावै दुखु पावणिआ ॥२॥
Night and day, it wanders around endlessly, deluded by doubt; without the Name, it suffers in pain. ||2||
ਜੋ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਕਰਮ ਬਿਧਾਤੇ ॥
Jo Rang Raathae Karam Bidhhaathae ||
जो रंगि राते करम बिधाते ॥
Those who are attuned to the Love of the Lord, the Architect of Destiny
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਜੁਗ ਚਾਰੇ ਜਾਤੇ ॥
Gur Saevaa Thae Jug Chaarae Jaathae ||
गुर सेवा ते जुग चारे जाते ॥
By serving the Guru, they are known throughout the four ages.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਪਿ ਦੇਇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥
Jis No Aap Dhaee Vaddiaaee Har Kai Naam Samaavaniaa ||3||
जिस नो आपि देइ वडिआई हरि कै नामि समावणिआ ॥३॥
Those, upon whom the Lord bestows greatness, are absorbed in the Name of the Lord. ||3||
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਚੇਤੈ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
Maaeiaa Mohi Har Chaethai Naahee ||
माइआ मोहि हरि चेतै नाही ॥
Being in love with Maya, they do not think of the Lord.
ਜਮਪੁਰਿ ਬਧਾ ਦੁਖ ਸਹਾਹੀ ॥
Jamapur Badhhaa Dhukh Sehaahee ||
जमपुरि बधा दुख सहाही ॥
Bound and gagged in the City of Death, they suffer in terrible pain.
ਅੰਨਾ ਬੋਲਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਦਰਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਪਾਪਿ ਪਚਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥
Annaa Bolaa Kishh Nadhar N Aavai Manamukh Paap Pachaavaniaa ||4||
अंना बोला किछु नदरि न आवै मनमुख पापि पचावणिआ ॥४॥
Blind and deaf, they see nothing at all; the self-willed manmukhs rot away in sin. ||4||
ਇਕਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ ॥
Eik Rang Raathae Jo Thudhh Aap Liv Laaeae ||
इकि रंगि राते जो तुधु आपि लिव लाए ॥
Those, whom You attach to Your Love, are attuned to Your Love.
ਭਾਇ ਭਗਤਿ ਤੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਏ ॥
Bhaae Bhagath Thaerai Man Bhaaeae ||
भाइ भगति तेरै मनि भाए ॥
Through loving devotional worship, they become pleasing to Your Mind.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਨਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਸਭ ਇਛਾ ਆਪਿ ਪੁਜਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥
Sathigur Saevan Sadhaa Sukhadhaathaa Sabh Eishhaa Aap Pujaavaniaa ||5||
सतिगुरु सेवनि सदा सुखदाता सभ इछा आपि पुजावणिआ ॥५॥
They serve the True Guru, the Giver of eternal peace, and all their desires are fulfilled. ||5||
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਦਾ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥
Har Jeeo Thaeree Sadhaa Saranaaee ||
हरि जीउ तेरी सदा सरणाई ॥
O Dear Lord, I seek Your Sanctuary forever.
ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸਿਹਿ ਦੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
Aapae Bakhasihi Dhae Vaddiaaee ||
आपे बखसिहि दे वडिआई ॥
You Yourself forgive us, and bless us with Glorious Greatness.
ਜਮਕਾਲੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥
Jamakaal This Naerr N Aavai Jo Har Har Naam Dhhiaavaniaa ||6||
जमकालु तिसु नेड़ि न आवै जो हरि हरि नामु धिआवणिआ ॥६॥
The Messenger of Death does not draw near those who meditate on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||6||
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੇ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਏ ॥
Anadhin Raathae Jo Har Bhaaeae ||
अनदिनु राते जो हरि भाए ॥
Night and day, they are attuned to His Love; they are pleasing to the Lord.
ਮੇਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਮੇਲੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥
Maerai Prabh Maelae Mael Milaaeae ||
मेरै प्रभि मेले मेलि मिलाए ॥
My God merges with them, and unites them in Union.
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਸਚੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਸਚੁ ਬੁਝਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥
Sadhaa Sadhaa Sachae Thaeree Saranaaee Thoon Aapae Sach Bujhaavaniaa ||7||
सदा सदा सचे तेरी सरणाई तूं आपे सचु बुझावणिआ ॥७॥
Forever and ever, O True Lord, I seek the Protection of Your Sanctuary; You Yourself inspire us to understand the Truth. ||7||
ਜਿਨ ਸਚੁ ਜਾਤਾ ਸੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਣੇ ॥
Jin Sach Jaathaa Sae Sach Samaanae ||
जिन सचु जाता से सचि समाणे ॥
Those who know the Truth are absorbed in Truth.
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਸਚੁ ਵਖਾਣੇ ॥
Har Gun Gaavehi Sach Vakhaanae ||
हरि गुण गावहि सचु वखाणे ॥
They sing the Lord's Glorious Praises, and speak the Truth.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਤਾੜੀ ਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੩॥੪॥
Naanak Naam Rathae Bairaagee Nij Ghar Thaarree Laavaniaa ||8||3||4||
नानक नामि रते बैरागी निज घरि ताड़ी लावणिआ ॥८॥३॥४॥
O Nanak, those who are attuned to the Naam remain unattached and balanced; in the home of the inner self, they are absorbed in the primal trance of deep meditation. ||8||3||4||

माझ महला ३ ॥
Maajh, Third Mehl:
ਸਬਦਿ ਮਰੈ ਸੁ ਮੁਆ ਜਾਪੈ ॥
Sabadh Marai S Muaa Jaapai ||
सबदि मरै सु मुआ जापै ॥
One who dies in the Word of the Shabad is truly dead.
ਕਾਲੁ ਨ ਚਾਪੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਨ ਸੰਤਾਪੈ ॥
Kaal N Chaapai Dhukh N Santhaapai ||
कालु न चापै दुखु न संतापै ॥
Death does not crush him, and pain does not afflict him.
ਜੋਤੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ਸੁਣਿ ਮਨ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥
Jothee Vich Mil Joth Samaanee Sun Man Sach Samaavaniaa ||1||
जोती विचि मिलि जोति समाणी सुणि मन सचि समावणिआ ॥१॥
His light merges and is absorbed into the Light, when he hears and merges in the Truth. ||1||
ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਨਾਇ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥
Ho Vaaree Jeeo Vaaree Har Kai Naae Sobhaa Paavaniaa ||
हउ वारी जीउ वारी हरि कै नाइ सोभा पावणिआ ॥
I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to the Lord's Name, which brings us to glory.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਚਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਆ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

सतिगुरु सेवि सचि चितु लाइआ गुरमती सहजि समावणिआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
One who serves the True Guru, and focuses his consciousness on Truth, following the Guru's Teachings, is absorbed in intuitive peace and poise. ||1||Pause||
ਕਾਇਆ ਕਚੀ ਕਚਾ ਚੀਰੁ ਹੰਢਾਏ ॥
Kaaeiaa Kachee Kachaa Cheer Handtaaeae ||
काइआ कची कचा चीरु हंढाए ॥
This human body is transitory, and transitory are the garments it wears.
ਦੂਜੈ ਲਾਗੀ ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਏ ॥
Dhoojai Laagee Mehal N Paaeae ||
दूजै लागी महलु न पाए ॥
Attached to duality, no one attains the Mansion of the Lord's Presence.
