आपे ऊचा ऊचो होई ॥
He Himself is the Highest of the High.
ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਵਿਖਾਲੇ ਸੁ ਵੇਖੈ ਕੋਈ ॥
Jis Aap Vikhaalae S Vaekhai Koee ||
जिसु आपि विखाले सु वेखै कोई ॥
How rare are those who behold Him. He causes Himself to be seen.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਵੇਖਿ ਵਿਖਾਲਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੨੬॥੨੭॥
Naanak Naam Vasai Ghatt Anthar Aapae Vaekh Vikhaalaniaa ||8||26||27||
नानक नामु वसै घट अंतरि आपे वेखि विखालणिआ ॥८॥२६॥२७॥
O Nanak, the Naam, the Name of the Lord, abides deep within the hearts of those who see the Lord themselves, and inspire others to see Him as well. ||8||26||27||

ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਭ ਥਾਈ ॥
Maeraa Prabh Bharapoor Rehiaa Sabh Thhaaee ||
मेरा प्रभु भरपूरि रहिआ सभ थाई ॥
My God is pervading and permeating all places.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਘਰ ਹੀ ਮਹਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
Gur Parasaadhee Ghar Hee Mehi Paaee ||
गुर परसादी घर ही महि पाई ॥
By Guru's Grace, I have found Him within the home of my own heart.
ਸਦਾ ਸਰੇਵੀ ਇਕ ਮਨਿ ਧਿਆਈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥
Sadhaa Saraevee Eik Man Dhhiaaee Guramukh Sach Samaavaniaa ||1||
सदा सरेवी इक मनि धिआई गुरमुखि सचि समावणिआ ॥१॥
I serve Him constantly, and I meditate on Him single-mindedly. As Gurmukh, I am absorbed in the True One. ||1||
ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜਗਜੀਵਨੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਣਿਆ ॥
Ho Vaaree Jeeo Vaaree Jagajeevan Mann Vasaavaniaa ||
हउ वारी जीउ वारी जगजीवनु मंनि वसावणिआ ॥
I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those who enshrine the Lord, the Life of the World, within their minds.
ਹਰਿ ਜਗਜੀਵਨੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਦਾਤਾ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Har Jagajeevan Nirabho Dhaathaa Guramath Sehaj Samaavaniaa ||1|| Rehaao ||
हरि जगजीवनु निरभउ दाता गुरमति सहजि समावणिआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Through the Guru's Teachings, I merge with intuitive ease into the Lord, the Life of the World, the Fearless One, the Great Giver. ||1||Pause||
ਘਰ ਮਹਿ ਧਰਤੀ ਧਉਲੁ ਪਾਤਾਲਾ ॥
Ghar Mehi Dhharathee Dhhoul Paathaalaa ||
घर महि धरती धउलु पाताला ॥
Within the home of the self is the earth, its support and the nether regions of the underworld.
ਘਰ ਹੀ ਮਹਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਬਾਲਾ ॥
Ghar Hee Mehi Preetham Sadhaa Hai Baalaa ||
घर ही महि प्रीतमु सदा है बाला ॥
Within the home of the self is the Eternally Young Beloved.
ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦਿ ਰਹੈ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥
Sadhaa Anandh Rehai Sukhadhaathaa Guramath Sehaj Samaavaniaa ||2||
सदा अनंदि रहै सुखदाता गुरमति सहजि समावणिआ ॥२॥
The Giver of peace is eternally blissful. Through the Guru's Teachings, we are absorbed in intuitive peace. ||2||
ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਮੇਰਾ ॥
Kaaeiaa Andhar Houmai Maeraa ||
काइआ अंदरि हउमै मेरा ॥
When the body is filled with ego and selfishness,
ਜੰਮਣ ਮਰਣੁ ਨ ਚੂਕੈ ਫੇਰਾ ॥
Janman Maran N Chookai Faeraa ||
जमण मरणु न चूकै फेरा ॥
The cycle of birth and death does not end.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੇ ਸਚੋ ਸਚੁ ਧਿਆਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥
Guramukh Hovai S Houmai Maarae Sacho Sach Dhhiaavaniaa ||3||
गुरमुखि होवै सु हउमै मारे सचो सचु धिआवणिआ ॥३॥
One who becomes Gurmukh subdues egotism, and meditates on the Truest of the True. ||3||
ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥
Kaaeiaa Andhar Paap Punn Dhue Bhaaee ||
काइआ अंदरि पापु पुंनु दुइ भाई ॥
Within this body are the two brothers, sin and virtue.
ਦੁਹੀ ਮਿਲਿ ਕੈ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਉਪਾਈ ॥
Dhuhee Mil Kai Srisatt Oupaaee ||
दुही मिलि कै स्रिसटि उपाई ॥
When the two joined together, the Universe was produced.
ਦੋਵੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਜਾਇ ਇਕਤੁ ਘਰਿ ਆਵੈ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥
Dhovai Maar Jaae Eikath Ghar Aavai Guramath Sehaj Samaavaniaa ||4||
दोवै मारि जाइ इकतु घरि आवै गुरमति सहजि समावणिआ ॥४॥
Subduing both, and entering into the Home of the One, through the Guru's Teachings, we are absorbed in intuitive peace. ||4||
ਘਰ ਹੀ ਮਾਹਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਅਨੇਰਾ ॥
Ghar Hee Maahi Dhoojai Bhaae Anaeraa ||
घर ही माहि दूजै भाइ अनेरा ॥
Within the home of the self is the darkness of the love of duality.
ਚਾਨਣੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਛੋਡੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਮੇਰਾ ॥
Chaanan Hovai Shhoddai Houmai Maeraa ||
चानणु होवै छोडै हउमै मेरा ॥
When the Divine Light dawns, ego and selfishness are dispelled.
ਪਰਗਟੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਹੈ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥
Paragatt Sabadh Hai Sukhadhaathaa Anadhin Naam Dhhiaavaniaa ||5||
परगटु सबदु है सुखदाता अनदिनु नामु धिआवणिआ ॥५॥
The Giver of peace is revealed through the Shabad, meditating upon the Naam, night and day. ||5||
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਪਾਸਾਰਾ ॥
Anthar Joth Paragatt Paasaaraa ||
अंतरि जोति परगटु पासारा ॥
Deep within the self is the Light of God; It radiates throughout the expanse of His creation.
ਗੁਰ ਸਾਖੀ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਅੰਧਿਆਰਾ ॥
Gur Saakhee Mittiaa Andhhiaaraa ||
गुर साखी मिटिआ अंधिआरा ॥
Through the Guru's Teachings, the darkness of spiritual ignorance is dispelled.
ਕਮਲੁ ਬਿਗਾਸਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥
Kamal Bigaas Sadhaa Sukh Paaeiaa Jothee Joth Milaavaniaa ||6||
कमलु बिगासि सदा सुखु पाइआ जोती जोति मिलावणिआ ॥६॥
The heart-lotus blossoms forth, and eternal peace is obtained, as one's light merges into the Light. ||6||
ਅੰਦਰਿ ਮਹਲ ਰਤਨੀ ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰਾ ॥
Andhar Mehal Rathanee Bharae Bhanddaaraa ||
अंदरि महल रतनी भरे भंडारा ॥
Within the mansion is the treasure house, overflowing with jewels.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਏ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
Guramukh Paaeae Naam Apaaraa ||
गुरमुखि पाए नामु अपारा ॥
The Gurmukh obtains the Infinite Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਣਜੇ ਸਦਾ ਵਾਪਾਰੀ ਲਾਹਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਦ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥
Guramukh Vanajae Sadhaa Vaapaaree Laahaa Naam Sadh Paavaniaa ||7||
गुरमुखि वणजे सदा वापारी लाहा नामु सद पावणिआ ॥७॥
The Gurmukh, the trader, always purchases the merchandise of the Naam, and always reaps profits. ||7||
ਆਪੇ ਵਥੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਇ ॥
Aapae Vathh Raakhai Aapae Dhaee ||
आपे वथु राखै आपे देइ ॥
The Lord Himself keeps this merchandise in stock, and He Himself distributes it.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਣਜਹਿ ਕੇਈ ਕੇਇ ॥
Guramukh Vanajehi Kaeee Kaee ||
गुरमुखि वणजहि केई केइ ॥
Rare is that Gurmukh who trades in this.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਸੋ ਪਾਏ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੨੭॥੨੮॥
Naanak Jis Nadhar Karae So Paaeae Kar Kirapaa Mann Vasaavaniaa ||8||27||28||
नानक जिसु नदरि करे सो पाए करि किरपा मंनि वसावणिआ ॥८॥२७॥२८॥
O Nanak, those upon whom the Lord casts His Glance of Grace, obtain it. Through His Mercy, it is enshrined in the mind. ||8||27||28||

Maajh, Third Mehl:
ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲੇ ਸੇਵ ਕਰਾਏ ॥

हरि आपे मेले सेव कराए ॥
The Lord Himself leads us to merge with Him and serve Him.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਭਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ ਜਾਏ ॥
Gur Kai Sabadh Bhaao Dhoojaa Jaaeae ||
गुर कै सबदि भाउ दूजा जाए ॥
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, the love of duality is eradicated.
ਹਰਿ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਣਦਾਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਮਹਿ ਆਪਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥
Har Niramal Sadhaa Gunadhaathaa Har Gun Mehi Aap Samaavaniaa ||1||
हरि निरमलु सदा गुणदाता हरि गुण महि आपि समावणिआ ॥१॥
The Immaculate Lord is the Bestower of eternal virtue. The Lord Himself leads us to merge in His Virtuous Goodness. ||1||
ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਸਚੁ ਸਚਾ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵਸਾਵਣਿਆ ॥
Ho Vaaree Jeeo Vaaree Sach Sachaa Hiradhai Vasaavaniaa ||
हउ वारी जीउ वारी सचु सचा हिरदै वसावणिआ ॥

सचा नामु सदा है निरमलु गुर सबदी मंनि वसावणिआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
The True Name is eternally pure and immaculate. Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, it is enshrined within the mind. ||1||Pause||
ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਕਰਮਿ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥
Aapae Gur Dhaathaa Karam Bidhhaathaa ||
आपे गुरु दाता करमि बिधाता ॥
The Guru Himself is the Giver, the Architect of Destiny.
ਸੇਵਕ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਤਾ ॥
Saevak Saevehi Guramukh Har Jaathaa ||
सेवक सेवहि गुरमुखि हरि जाता ॥
The Gurmukh, the humble servant who serves the Lord, comes to know Him.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਦਾ ਜਨ ਸੋਹਹਿ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥
Anmrith Naam Sadhaa Jan Sohehi Guramath Har Ras Paavaniaa ||2||
अम्रित नामि सदा जन सोहहि गुरमति हरि रसु पावणिआ ॥२॥
Those humble beings look beautiful forever in the Ambrosial Naam. Through the Guru's Teachings, they receive the sublime essence of the Lord. ||2||
ਇਸੁ ਗੁਫਾ ਮਹਿ ਇਕੁ ਥਾਨੁ ਸੁਹਾਇਆ ॥
Eis Gufaa Mehi Eik Thhaan Suhaaeiaa ||
इसु गुफा महि इकु थानु सुहाइआ ॥
Within the cave of this body, there is one beautiful place.
ਪੂਰੈ ਗੁਰਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਆ ॥
Poorai Gur Houmai Bharam Chukaaeiaa ||
पूरै गुरि हउमै भरमु चुकाइआ ॥
Through the Perfect Guru, ego and doubt are dispelled.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹਨਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥
Anadhin Naam Salaahan Rang Raathae Gur Kirapaa Thae Paavaniaa ||3||
अनदिनु नामु सलाहनि रंगि राते गुर किरपा ते पावणिआ ॥३॥
Night and day, praise the Naam, the Name of the Lord; imbued with the Lord's Love, by Guru's Grace, you shall find Him. ||3||
