ਸਸੁਰੈ ਪੇਈਐ ਤਿਸੁ ਕੰਤ ਕੀ ਵਡਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਪਰਵਾਰੁ ॥
Sasurai Paeeeai This Kanth Kee Vaddaa Jis Paravaar ||
ससुरै पेईऐ तिसु कंत की वडा जिसु परवारु ॥
In this world and in the next, the soul-bride belongs to her Husband Lord, who has such a vast family.
ਊਚਾ ਅਗਮ ਅਗਾਧਿ ਬੋਧ ਕਿਛੁ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰੁ ॥
Oochaa Agam Agaadhh Bodhh Kishh Anth N Paaraavaar ||
ऊचा अगम अगाधि बोध किछु अंतु न पारावारु ॥
He is Lofty and Inaccessible. His Wisdom is Unfathomable.
ਸੇਵਾ ਸਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵਸੀ ਸੰਤਾ ਕੀ ਹੋਇ ਛਾਰੁ ॥
Saevaa Saa This Bhaavasee Santhaa Kee Hoe Shhaar ||
सेवा सा तिसु भावसी संता की होइ छारु ॥
He has no end or limitation. That service is pleasing to Him, which makes one humble, like the dust of the feet of the Saints.
ਦੀਨਾ ਨਾਥ ਦੈਆਲ ਦੇਵ ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਾਰਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
Dheenaa Naathh Dhaiaal Dhaev Pathith Oudhhaaranehaar ||
दीना नाथ दैआल देव पतित उधारणहारु ॥
He is the Patron of the poor, the Merciful, Luminous Lord, the Redeemer of sinners.
ਆਦਿ ਜੁਗਾਦੀ ਰਖਦਾ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾਰੁ ॥
Aadh Jugaadhee Rakhadhaa Sach Naam Karathaar ||
आदि जुगादी रखदा सचु नामु करतारु ॥
From the very beginning, and throughout the ages, the True Name of the Creator has been our Saving Grace.
ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਜਾਣਈ ਕੋ ਨਾਹੀ ਤੋਲਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
Keemath Koe N Jaanee Ko Naahee Tholanehaar ||
कीमति कोइ न जाणई को नाही तोलणहारु ॥
No one can know His Value; no one can weigh it.
ਮਨ ਤਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਵਸਿ ਰਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਹੀ ਸੁਮਾਰੁ ॥
Man Than Anthar Vas Rehae Naanak Nehee Sumaar ||
मन तन अंतरि वसि रहे नानक नही सुमारु ॥
He dwells deep within the mind and body. O Nanak, He cannot be measured.
ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਜਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੰਉ ਸੇਵਦੇ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰ ॥੨॥

दिनु रैणि जि प्रभ कंउ सेवदे तिन कै सद बलिहार ॥२॥
I am forever a sacrifice to those who serve God, day and night. ||2||
ਸੰਤ ਅਰਾਧਨਿ ਸਦ ਸਦਾ ਸਭਨਾ ਕਾ ਬਖਸਿੰਦੁ ॥
Santh Araadhhan Sadh Sadhaa Sabhanaa Kaa Bakhasindh ||
संत अराधनि सद सदा सभना का बखसिंदु ॥
The Saints worship and adore Him forever and ever; He is the Forgiver of all.
ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਾਜਿਆ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦਿਤੀਨੁ ਜਿੰਦੁ ॥
Jeeo Pindd Jin Saajiaa Kar Kirapaa Dhitheen Jindh ||
जीउ पिंडु जिनि साजिआ करि किरपा दितीनु जिंदु ॥
He fashioned the soul and the body, and by His Kindness, He bestowed the soul.
ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਆਰਾਧੀਐ ਜਪੀਐ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਮੰਤੁ ॥
Gur Sabadhee Aaraadhheeai Japeeai Niramal Manth ||
गुर सबदी आराधीऐ जपीऐ निरमल मंतु ॥
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, worship and adore Him, and chant His Pure Mantra.
ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈਐ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰੁ ਬੇਅੰਤੁ ॥
Keemath Kehan N Jaaeeai Paramaesur Baeanth ||
कीमति कहणु न जाईऐ परमेसुरु बेअंतु ॥
His Value cannot be evaluated. The Transcendent Lord is endless.
ਜਿਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਨਰਾਇਣੋ ਸੋ ਕਹੀਐ ਭਗਵੰਤੁ ॥
Jis Man Vasai Naraaeino So Keheeai Bhagavanth ||
जिसु मनि वसै नराइणो सो कहीऐ भगवंतु ॥
That one, within whose mind the Lord abides, is said to be most fortunate.
ਜੀਅ ਕੀ ਲੋਚਾ ਪੂਰੀਐ ਮਿਲੈ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕੰਤੁ ॥
Jeea Kee Lochaa Pooreeai Milai Suaamee Kanth ||
जीअ की लोचा पूरीऐ मिलै सुआमी कंतु ॥
The soul's desires are fulfilled, upon meeting the Master, our Husband Lord.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜੀਵੈ ਜਪਿ ਹਰੀ ਦੋਖ ਸਭੇ ਹੀ ਹੰਤੁ ॥
Naanak Jeevai Jap Haree Dhokh Sabhae Hee Hanth ||
नानकु जीवै जपि हरी दोख सभे ही हंतु ॥
Nanak lives by chanting the Lord's Name; all sorrows have been erased.
ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਨ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਸੋ ਹਰਿਆ ਹੋਵੈ ਜੰਤੁ ॥੩॥
Dhin Rain Jis N Visarai So Hariaa Hovai Janth ||3||
दिनु रैणि जिसु न विसरै सो हरिआ होवै जंतु ॥३॥
One who does not forget Him, day and night, is continually rejuvenated. ||3||
ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪੂਰਣੋ ਮੰਞੁ ਨਿਮਾਣੀ ਥਾਉ ॥
Sarab Kalaa Prabh Poorano Mannj Nimaanee Thhaao ||
सरब कला प्रभ पूरणो मंञु निमाणी थाउ ॥
God is overflowing with all powers. I have no honor-He is my resting place.
ਹਰਿ ਓਟ ਗਹੀ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰੇ ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨਾਉ ॥
Har Outt Gehee Man Andharae Jap Jap Jeevaan Naao ||
हरि ओट गही मन अंदरे जपि जपि जीवां नाउ ॥
I have grasped the Support of the Lord within my mind; I live by chanting and meditating on His Name.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਨ ਧੂੜੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਮਾਉ ॥
Kar Kirapaa Prabh Aapanee Jan Dhhoorree Sang Samaao ||
करि किरपा प्रभ आपणी जन धूड़ी संगि समाउ ॥
Grant Your Grace, God, and bless me, that I may merge into the dust of the feet of the humble.
ਜਿਉ ਤੂੰ ਰਾਖਹਿ ਤਿਉ ਰਹਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਿਤਾ ਪੈਨਾ ਖਾਉ ॥
Jio Thoon Raakhehi Thio Rehaa Thaeraa Dhithaa Painaa Khaao ||
जिउ तूं राखहि तिउ रहा तेरा दिता पैना खाउ ॥
As You keep me, so do I live. I wear and eat whatever You give me.
ਉਦਮੁ ਸੋਈ ਕਰਾਇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ॥
Oudham Soee Karaae Prabh Mil Saadhhoo Gun Gaao ||
उदमु सोई कराइ प्रभ मिलि साधू गुण गाउ ॥
May I make the effort, O God, to sing Your Glorious Praises in the Company of the Holy.
ਦੂਜੀ ਜਾਇ ਨ ਸੁਝਈ ਕਿਥੈ ਕੂਕਣ ਜਾਉ ॥
Dhoojee Jaae N Sujhee Kithhai Kookan Jaao ||
दूजी जाइ न सुझई किथै कूकण जाउ ॥
I can conceive of no other place; where could I go to lodge a complaint?
ਅਗਿਆਨ ਬਿਨਾਸਨ ਤਮ ਹਰਣ ਊਚੇ ਅਗਮ ਅਮਾਉ ॥
Agiaan Binaasan Tham Haran Oochae Agam Amaao ||
अगिआन बिनासन तम हरण ऊचे अगम अमाउ ॥
You are the Dispeller of ignorance, the Destroyer of darkness, O Lofty, Unfathomable and Unapproachable Lord.
ਮਨੁ ਵਿਛੁੜਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲੀਐ ਨਾਨਕ ਏਹੁ ਸੁਆਉ ॥

मनु विछुड़िआ हरि मेलीऐ नानक एहु सुआउ ॥
Please unite this separated one with Yourself; this is Nanak's yearning.

गुरु दाता गुरु हिवै घरु गुरु दीपकु तिह लोइ ॥
The Guru is the Giver; the Guru is the House of ice. The Guru is the Light of the three worlds.
ਅਮਰ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਮਨਿ ਮਾਨਿਐ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥

First, the baby loves mother's milk;
ਦੂਜੈ ਮਾਇ ਬਾਪ ਕੀ ਸੁਧਿ ॥
Dhoojai Maae Baap Kee Sudhh ||
दूजै माइ बाप की सुधि ॥
Second, he learns of his mother and father;
ਤੀਜੈ ਭਯਾ ਭਾਭੀ ਬੇਬ ॥
Theejai Bhayaa Bhaabhee Baeb ||
तीजै भया भाभी बेब ॥
Third, his brothers, sisters-in-law and sisters;
ਚਉਥੈ ਪਿਆਰਿ ਉਪੰਨੀ ਖੇਡ ॥
Chouthhai Piaar Oupannee Khaedd ||
चउथै पिआरि उपंनी खेड ॥
Fourth, the love of play awakens.
ਪੰਜਵੈ ਖਾਣ ਪੀਅਣ ਕੀ ਧਾਤੁ ॥
Panjavai Khaan Peean Kee Dhhaath ||
पंजवै खाण पीअण की धातु ॥
Fifth, he runs after food and drink;
ਛਿਵੈ ਕਾਮੁ ਨ ਪੁਛੈ ਜਾਤਿ ॥
Shhivai Kaam N Pushhai Jaath ||
छिवै कामु न पुछै जाति ॥
Sixth, in his sexual desire, he does not respect social customs.
ਸਤਵੈ ਸੰਜਿ ਕੀਆ ਘਰ ਵਾਸੁ ॥
Sathavai Sanj Keeaa Ghar Vaas ||
सतवै संजि कीआ घर वासु ॥
Seventh, he gathers wealth and dwells in his house;
ਅਠਵੈ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਹੋਆ ਤਨ ਨਾਸੁ ॥
Athavai Krodhh Hoaa Than Naas ||
अठवै क्रोधु होआ तन नासु ॥
Eighth, he becomes angry, and his body is consumed.
ਨਾਵੈ ਧਉਲੇ ਉਭੇ ਸਾਹ ॥
Naavai Dhhoulae Oubhae Saah ||
नावै धउले उभे साह ॥
Ninth, he turns grey, and his breathing becomes labored;
ਦਸਵੈ ਦਧਾ ਹੋਆ ਸੁਆਹ ॥
Dhasavai Dhadhhaa Hoaa Suaah ||
दसवै दधा होआ सुआह ॥
Tenth, he is cremated, and turns to ashes.
ਗਏ ਸਿਗੀਤ ਪੁਕਾਰੀ ਧਾਹ ॥
Geae Sigeeth Pukaaree Dhhaah ||
गए सिगीत पुकारी धाह ॥
His companions send him off, crying out and lamenting.
ਉਡਿਆ ਹੰਸੁ ਦਸਾਏ ਰਾਹ ॥
Ouddiaa Hans Dhasaaeae Raah ||
उडिआ हंसु दसाए राह ॥
The swan of the soul takes flight, and asks which way to go.
