He has no form or shape; He is seen within each and every heart. The Gurmukh comes to know the unknowable. ||1||Pause||
ਤੂ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਕਿਰਪਾਲੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਈ ॥

तू दइआलु किरपालु प्रभु सोई ॥
You are God, Kind and Merciful.
ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥
Thudhh Bin Dhoojaa Avar N Koee ||
तुधु बिनु दूजा अवरु न कोई ॥
Without You, there is no other at all.
ਗੁਰੁ ਪਰਸਾਦੁ ਕਰੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਨਾਮੇ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥
Gur Parasaadh Karae Naam Dhaevai Naamae Naam Samaavaniaa ||2||
गुरु परसादु करे नामु देवै नामे नामि समावणिआ ॥२॥
When the Guru showers His Grace upon us, He blesses us with the Naam; through the Naam, we merge in the Naam. ||2||
ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਸਚਾ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰਾ ॥
Thoon Aapae Sachaa Sirajanehaaraa ||
तूं आपे सचा सिरजणहारा ॥
You Yourself are the True Creator Lord.
ਭਗਤੀ ਭਰੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰਾ ॥
Bhagathee Bharae Thaerae Bhanddaaraa ||
भगती भरे तेरे भंडारा ॥
Your treasures are overflowing with devotional worship.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਮਨੁ ਭੀਜੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਲਗਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥
Guramukh Naam Milai Man Bheejai Sehaj Samaadhh Lagaavaniaa ||3||
गुरमुखि नामु मिलै मनु भीजै सहजि समाधि लगावणिआ ॥३॥
The Gurmukhs obtain the Naam. Their minds are enraptured, and they easily and intuitively enter into Samaadhi. ||3||
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੇ ॥
Anadhin Gun Gaavaa Prabh Thaerae ||
अनदिनु गुण गावा प्रभ तेरे ॥
Night and day, I sing Your Glorious Praises, God.
ਤੁਧੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਮੇਰੇ ॥
Thudhh Saalaahee Preetham Maerae ||
तुधु सालाही प्रीतम मेरे ॥
I praise You, O my Beloved.
ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਜਾਚਾ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਤੂੰ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥
Thudhh Bin Avar N Koee Jaachaa Gur Parasaadhee Thoon Paavaniaa ||4||
तुधु बिनु अवरु न कोई जाचा गुर परसादी तूं पावणिआ ॥४॥
Without You, there is no other for me to seek out. It is only by Guru's Grace that You are found. ||4||
ਅਗਮੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਮਿਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਈ ॥
Agam Agochar Mith Nehee Paaee ||
अगमु अगोचरु मिति नही पाई ॥
The limits of the Inaccessible and Incomprehensible Lord cannot be found.
ਅਪਣੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਤੂੰ ਲੈਹਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ॥
Apanee Kirapaa Karehi Thoon Laihi Milaaee ||
अपणी क्रिपा करहि तूं लैहि मिलाई ॥
Bestowing Your Mercy, You merge us into Yourself.
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥
Poorae Gur Kai Sabadh Dhhiaaeeai Sabadh Saev Sukh Paavaniaa ||5||
पूरे गुर कै सबदि धिआईऐ सबदु सेवि सुखु पावणिआ ॥५॥
Through the Shabad, the Word of the Perfect Guru, we meditate on the Lord. Serving the Shabad, peace is found. ||5||
ਰਸਨਾ ਗੁਣਵੰਤੀ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ॥
Rasanaa Gunavanthee Gun Gaavai ||
रसना गुणवंती गुण गावै ॥
Praiseworthy is the tongue which sings the Lord's Glorious Praises.
ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹੇ ਸਚੇ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
Naam Salaahae Sachae Bhaavai ||
नामु सलाहे सचे भावै ॥
Praising the Naam, one becomes pleasing to the True One.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਦਾ ਰਹੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੀ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਚੇ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥
Guramukh Sadhaa Rehai Rang Raathee Mil Sachae Sobhaa Paavaniaa ||6||
गुरमुखि सदा रहै रंगि राती मिलि सचे सोभा पावणिआ ॥६॥
The Gurmukh remains forever imbued with the Lord's Love. Meeting the True Lord, glory is obtained. ||6||
ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਕਰਮ ਕਰੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ॥
Manamukh Karam Karae Ahankaaree ||
मनमुखु करम करे अहंकारी ॥
The self-willed manmukhs do their deeds in ego.
ਜੂਐ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਭ ਬਾਜੀ ਹਾਰੀ ॥
Jooai Janam Sabh Baajee Haaree ||
जूऐ जनमु सभ बाजी हारी ॥
They lose their whole lives in the gamble.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਲੋਭੁ ਮਹਾ ਗੁਬਾਰਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥
Anthar Lobh Mehaa Gubaaraa Fir Fir Aavan Jaavaniaa ||7||
अंतरि लोभु महा गुबारा फिरि फिरि आवण जावणिआ ॥७॥
Within is the terrible darkness of greed, and so they come and go in reincarnation, over and over again. ||7||
ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਦੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
Aapae Karathaa Dhae Vaddiaaee ||
आपे करता दे वडिआई ॥
The Creator Himself bestows Glory
ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਆਪਿ ਲਿਖਤੁ ਧੁਰਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
Jin Ko Aap Likhath Dhhur Paaee ||
जिन कउ आपि लिखतु धुरि पाई ॥
On those whom He Himself has so pre-destined.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਭਉ ਭੰਜਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੧॥੩੪॥
Naanak Naam Milai Bho Bhanjan Gur Sabadhee Sukh Paavaniaa ||8||1||34||
नानक नामु मिलै भउ भंजनु गुर सबदी सुखु पावणिआ ॥८॥१॥३४॥
O Nanak, they receive the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the Destroyer of fear; through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, they find peace. ||8||1||34||

Maajh, Fifth Mehl, First House:
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਅਲਖੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਲਖਿਆ ॥

अंतरि अलखु न जाई लखिआ ॥
The Unseen Lord is within, but He cannot be seen.
ਨਾਮੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਲੈ ਗੁਝਾ ਰਖਿਆ ॥
Naam Rathan Lai Gujhaa Rakhiaa ||
नामु रतनु लै गुझा रखिआ ॥
He has taken the Jewel of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and He keeps it well concealed.
ਅਗਮੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਸਭ ਤੇ ਊਚਾ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਲਖਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥
Agam Agochar Sabh Thae Oochaa Gur Kai Sabadh Lakhaavaniaa ||1||
अगमु अगोचरु सभ ते ऊचा गुर कै सबदि लखावणिआ ॥१॥
The Inaccessible and Incomprehensible Lord is the highest of all. Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, He is known. ||1||
ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਕਲਿ ਮਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਣਾਵਣਿਆ ॥
Ho Vaaree Jeeo Vaaree Kal Mehi Naam Sunaavaniaa ||
हउ वारी जीउ वारी कलि महि नामु सुणावणिआ ॥
I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those who chant the Naam, in this Dark Age of Kali Yuga.
ਸੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸਚੈ ਧਾਰੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Santh Piaarae Sachai Dhhaarae Vaddabhaagee Dharasan Paavaniaa ||1|| Rehaao ||
संत पिआरे सचै धारे वडभागी दरसनु पावणिआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
The Beloved Saints were established by the True Lord. By great good fortune, the Blessed Vision of their Darshan is obtained. ||1||Pause||
ਸਾਧਿਕ ਸਿਧ ਜਿਸੈ ਕਉ ਫਿਰਦੇ ॥
Saadhhik Sidhh Jisai Ko Firadhae ||
साधिक सिध जिसै कउ फिरदे ॥
The One who is sought by the Siddhas and the seekers,
ਬ੍ਰਹਮੇ ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਧਿਆਇਨਿ ਹਿਰਦੇ ॥
Brehamae Eindhr Dhhiaaein Hiradhae ||
ब्रहमे इंद्र धिआइनि हिरदे ॥
Upon whom Brahma and Indra meditate within their hearts,
ਕੋਟਿ ਤੇਤੀਸਾ ਖੋਜਹਿ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਗਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥
Kott Thaetheesaa Khojehi Thaa Ko Gur Mil Hiradhai Gaavaniaa ||2||
कोटि तेतीसा खोजहि ता कउ गुर मिलि हिरदै गावणिआ ॥२॥
Whom the three hundred thirty million demi-gods search for-meeting the Guru, one comes to sing His Praises within the heart. ||2||
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਤੁਧੁ ਜਾਪੇ ਪਵਨਾ ॥
Aath Pehar Thudhh Jaapae Pavanaa ||
आठ पहर तुधु जापे पवना ॥
Twenty-four hours a day, the wind breathes Your Name.
ਧਰਤੀ ਸੇਵਕ ਪਾਇਕ ਚਰਨਾ ॥
Dhharathee Saevak Paaeik Charanaa ||
धरती सेवक पाइक चरना ॥
The earth is Your servant, a slave at Your Feet.
ਖਾਣੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਰਬ ਨਿਵਾਸੀ ਸਭਨਾ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥
Khaanee Baanee Sarab Nivaasee Sabhanaa Kai Man Bhaavaniaa ||3||
खाणी बाणी सरब निवासी सभना कै मनि भावणिआ ॥३॥
In the four sources of creation, and in all speech, You dwell. You are dear to the minds of all. ||3||
ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਪੈ ॥
Saachaa Saahib Guramukh Jaapai ||
साचा साहिबु गुरमुखि जापै ॥
The True Lord and Master is known to the Gurmukhs.
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਿਞਾਪੈ ॥
Poorae Gur Kai Sabadh Sinjaapai ||
पूरे गुर कै सबदि सिञापै ॥
He is realized through the Shabad, the Word of the Perfect Guru.
ਜਿਨ ਪੀਆ ਸੇਈ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਸੇ ਸਚੇ ਸਚਿ ਅਘਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥
Jin Peeaa Saeee Thripathaasae Sachae Sach Aghaavaniaa ||4||
जिन पीआ सेई त्रिपतासे सचे सचि अघावणिआ ॥४॥
Those who drink it in are satisfied. Through the Truest of the True, they are fulfilled. ||4||
ਤਿਸੁ ਘਰਿ ਸਹਜਾ ਸੋਈ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ॥
This Ghar Sehajaa Soee Suhaelaa ||
तिसु घरि सहजा सोई सुहेला ॥
In the home of their own beings, they are peacefully and comfortably at ease.
ਅਨਦ ਬਿਨੋਦ ਕਰੇ ਸਦ ਕੇਲਾ ॥
Anadh Binodh Karae Sadh Kaelaa ||
अनद बिनोद करे सद केला ॥
They are blissful, enjoying pleasures, and eternally joyful.
ਸੋ ਧਨਵੰਤਾ ਸੋ ਵਡ ਸਾਹਾ ਜੋ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥
So Dhhanavanthaa So Vadd Saahaa Jo Gur Charanee Man Laavaniaa ||5||
सो धनवंता सो वड साहा जो गुर चरणी मनु लावणिआ ॥५॥
They are wealthy, and the greatest kings; they center their minds on the Guru's Feet. ||5||
ਪਹਿਲੋ ਦੇ ਤੈਂ ਰਿਜਕੁ ਸਮਾਹਾ ॥
Pehilo Dhae Thain Rijak Samaahaa ||
पहिलो दे तैं रिजकु समाहा ॥
First, You created nourishment;
ਪਿਛੋ ਦੇ ਤੈਂ ਜੰਤੁ ਉਪਾਹਾ ॥
Pishho Dhae Thain Janth Oupaahaa ||
पिछो दे तैं जंतु उपाहा ॥
Then, You created the living beings.
ਤੁਧੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਲਵੈ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥
Thudhh Jaevadd Dhaathaa Avar N Suaamee Lavai N Koee Laavaniaa ||6||
तुधु जेवडु दाता अवरु न सुआमी लवै न कोई लावणिआ ॥६॥
There is no other Giver as Great as You, O my Lord and Master. None approach or equal You. ||6||
ਜਿਸੁ ਤੂੰ ਤੁਠਾ ਸੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਧਿਆਏ ॥
Jis Thoon Thuthaa So Thudhh Dhhiaaeae ||
जिसु तूं तुठा सो तुधु धिआए ॥
Those who are pleasing to You meditate on You.
ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਕਾ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਕਮਾਏ ॥
Saadhh Janaa Kaa Manthra Kamaaeae ||
साध जना का मंत्रु कमाए ॥
They practice the Mantra of the Holy.
ਆਪਿ ਤਰੈ ਸਗਲੇ ਕੁਲ ਤਾਰੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਦਰਗਹ ਠਾਕ ਨ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥
Aap Tharai Sagalae Kul Thaarae This Dharageh Thaak N Paavaniaa ||7||
आपि तरै सगले कुल तारे तिसु दरगह ठाक न पावणिआ ॥७॥
They themselves swim across, and they save all their ancestors and families as well. In the Court of the Lord, they meet with no obstruction. ||7||
