Gur Kaa Sabadh Anmrith Ras Chaakh ||
गुर का सबदु अम्रित रसु चाखु ॥
And hold tight to the Feet of the Saints. ||2||
ਅਵਰਿ ਜਤਨ ਕਹਹੁ ਕਉਨ ਕਾਜ ॥
Avar Jathan Kehahu Koun Kaaj ||
अवरि जतन कहहु कउन काज ॥
Of what use are other efforts?
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਰਾਖੈ ਆਪਿ ਲਾਜ ॥੨॥
Kar Kirapaa Raakhai Aap Laaj ||2||
करि किरपा राखै आपि लाज ॥२॥
Showing His Mercy, the Lord Himself protects our honor. ||2||
ਕਿਆ ਮਾਨੁਖ ਕਹਹੁ ਕਿਆ ਜੋਰੁ ॥
Kiaa Maanukh Kehahu Kiaa Jor ||
किआ मानुख कहहु किआ जोरु ॥
What is the human? What power does he have?
ਝੂਠਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਕਾ ਸਭੁ ਸੋਰੁ ॥
Jhoothaa Maaeiaa Kaa Sabh Sor ||
झूठा माइआ का सभु सोरु ॥
All the tumult of Maya is false.
ਕਰਣ ਕਰਾਵਨਹਾਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥
Karan Karaavanehaar Suaamee ||
करण करावनहार सुआमी ॥
Our Lord and Master is the One who acts, and causes others to act.
ਸਗਲ ਘਟਾ ਕੇ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥੩॥
Sagal Ghattaa Kae Antharajaamee ||3||
सगल घटा के अंतरजामी ॥३॥
He is the Inner-knower, the Searcher of all hearts. ||3||
ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਏਹੁ ॥
Sarab Sukhaa Sukh Saachaa Eaehu ||
सरब सुखा सुखु साचा एहु ॥
Of all comforts, this is the true comfort.
ਗੁਰ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਮਨੈ ਮਹਿ ਲੇਹੁ ॥

गुर उपदेसु मनै महि लेहु ॥
O Nanak, chant and meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||4||4||73||

Jaa Ko Raam Naam Liv Laagee ||
जा कउ राम नाम लिव लागी ॥
Those who bear love for the Name of the Lord
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਧੰਨੁ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ॥੪॥੭॥੭੬॥
Kahu Naanak So Dhhann Vaddabhaagee ||4||7||76||
कहु नानक सो धंनु वडभागी ॥४॥७॥७६॥

Listening to the Lord's sermon, my pollution has been washed away.
ਮਹਾ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਭਏ ਸੁਖ ਸੈਲੁ ॥
Mehaa Puneeth Bheae Sukh Sail ||
महा पुनीत भए सुख सैलु ॥
I have become totally pure, and I now walk in peace.
ਵਡੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੁ ॥
Vaddai Bhaag Paaeiaa Saadhhasang ||
वडै भागि पाइआ साधसंगु ॥
By great good fortune, I found the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy;
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਗੋ ਰੰਗੁ ॥੧॥

पारब्रहम सिउ लागो रंगु ॥१॥
I have fallen in love with the Supreme Lord God. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਜਨੁ ਤਾਰਿਓ ॥
Har Har Naam Japath Jan Thaariou ||
हरि हरि नामु जपत जनु तारिओ ॥
Chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, His servant has been carried across.
ਅਗਨਿ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਾਰਿਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

अगनि सागरु गुरि पारि उतारिओ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
The Guru has lifted me up and carried me across the ocean of fire. ||1||Pause||

करि कीरतनु मन सीतल भए ॥
Singing the Kirtan of His Praises, my mind has become peaceful;
ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਗਏ ॥
Janam Janam Kae Kilavikh Geae ||
जनम जनम के किलविख गए ॥
The sins of countless incarnations have been washed away.
ਸਰਬ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਪੇਖੇ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
Sarab Nidhhaan Paekhae Man Maahi ||
सरब निधान पेखे मन माहि ॥
I have seen all the treasures within my own mind;
ਅਬ ਢੂਢਨ ਕਾਹੇ ਕਉ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੨॥
Ab Dtoodtan Kaahae Ko Jaahi ||2||
अब ढूढन काहे कउ जाहि ॥२॥
Why should I now go out searching for them? ||2||
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਜਬ ਭਏ ਦਇਆਲ ॥
Prabh Apunae Jab Bheae Dhaeiaal ||
प्रभ अपुने जब भए दइआल ॥
When God Himself becomes merciful,
ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਈ ਸੇਵਕ ਘਾਲ ॥
Pooran Hoee Saevak Ghaal ||
पूरन होई सेवक घाल ॥
The work of His servant becomes perfect.
ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟਿ ਕੀਏ ਅਪਨੇ ਦਾਸ ॥
Bandhhan Kaatt Keeeae Apanae Dhaas ||
बंधन काटि कीए अपने दास ॥
He has cut away my bonds, and made me His slave.
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਗੁਣਤਾਸ ॥੩॥
Simar Simar Simar Gunathaas ||3||
सिमरि सिमरि सिमरि गुणतास ॥३॥
Remember, remember, remember Him in meditation; He is the treasure of excellence. ||3||
ਏਕੋ ਮਨਿ ਏਕੋ ਸਭ ਠਾਇ ॥
Eaeko Man Eaeko Sabh Thaae ||
एको मनि एको सभ ठाइ ॥
He alone is in the mind; He alone is everywhere.
ਪੂਰਨ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਸਭ ਜਾਇ ॥
Pooran Poor Rehiou Sabh Jaae ||
पूरन पूरि रहिओ सभ जाइ ॥
The Perfect Lord is totally permeating and pervading everywhere.
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਸਭੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਆ ॥
Gur Poorai Sabh Bharam Chukaaeiaa ||
गुरि पूरै सभु भरमु चुकाइआ ॥
The Perfect Guru has dispelled all doubts.

Those who have died have been forgotten.
ਜੋ ਉਬਰੇ ਸੇ ਬੰਧਿ ਲਕੁ ਖਰੇ ॥
Jo Oubarae Sae Bandhh Lak Kharae ||
जो उबरे से बंधि लकु खरे ॥
Those who survive have fastened their belts.
ਜਿਹ ਧੰਧੇ ਮਹਿ ਓਇ ਲਪਟਾਏ ॥
Jih Dhhandhhae Mehi Oue Lapattaaeae ||
जिह धंधे महि ओइ लपटाए ॥
They are busily occupied in their affairs;
ਉਨ ਤੇ ਦੁਗੁਣ ਦਿੜੀ ਉਨ ਮਾਏ ॥੧॥
Oun Thae Dhugun Dhirree Oun Maaeae ||1||
उन ते दुगुण दिड़ी उन माए ॥१॥
They cling twice as hard to Maya. ||1||
ਓਹ ਬੇਲਾ ਕਛੁ ਚੀਤਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥
Ouh Baelaa Kashh Cheeth N Aavai ||
ओह बेला कछु चीति न आवै ॥
No one thinks of the time of death;
ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਇ ਤਾਹੂ ਲਪਟਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

बिनसि जाइ ताहू लपटावै ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
People grasp to hold that which shall pass away. ||1||Pause||
ਆਸਾ ਬੰਧੀ ਮੂਰਖ ਦੇਹ ॥
Aasaa Bandhhee Moorakh Dhaeh ||
आसा बंधी मूरख देह ॥
The fools - their bodies are bound down by desires.
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਲਪਟਿਓ ਅਸਨੇਹ ॥
Kaam Krodhh Lapattiou Asanaeh ||
काम क्रोध लपटिओ असनेह ॥
They are mired in sexual desire, anger and attachment;
ਸਿਰ ਊਪਰਿ ਠਾਢੋ ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ॥
Sir Oopar Thaadto Dhharam Raae ||
सिर ऊपरि ठाढो धरम राइ ॥
The Righteous Judge of Dharma stands over their heads.
ਮੀਠੀ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਖਾਇ ॥੨॥
Meethee Kar Kar Bikhiaa Khaae ||2||
मीठी करि करि बिखिआ खाइ ॥२॥
Believing it to be sweet, the fools eat poison. ||2||
ਹਉ ਬੰਧਉ ਹਉ ਸਾਧਉ ਬੈਰੁ ॥
Ho Bandhho Ho Saadhho Bair ||
हउ बंधउ हउ साधउ बैरु ॥
They say, ""I shall tie up my enemy, and I shall cut him down.
ਹਮਰੀ ਭੂਮਿ ਕਉਣੁ ਘਾਲੈ ਪੈਰੁ ॥
Hamaree Bhoom Koun Ghaalai Pair ||
हमरी भूमि कउणु घालै पैरु ॥
Who dares to set foot upon my land?
ਹਉ ਪੰਡਿਤੁ ਹਉ ਚਤੁਰੁ ਸਿਆਣਾ ॥
Ho Panddith Ho Chathur Siaanaa ||
हउ पंडितु हउ चतुरु सिआणा ॥
I am learned, I am clever and wise.""
ਕਰਣੈਹਾਰੁ ਨ ਬੁਝੈ ਬਿਗਾਨਾ ॥੩॥
Karanaihaar N Bujhai Bigaanaa ||3||
करणैहारु न बुझै बिगाना ॥३॥
The ignorant ones do not recognize their Creator. ||3||
ਅਪੁਨੀ ਗਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਆਪੇ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
Apunee Gath Mith Aapae Jaanai ||
अपुनी गति मिति आपे जानै ॥
The Lord Himself knows His Own state and condition.
ਕਿਆ ਕੋ ਕਹੈ ਕਿਆ ਆਖਿ ਵਖਾਨੈ ॥
Kiaa Ko Kehai Kiaa Aakh Vakhaanai ||
किआ को कहै किआ आखि वखानै ॥
What can anyone say? How can anyone describe Him?
ਜਿਤੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਲਾਵਹਿ ਤਿਤੁ ਤਿਤੁ ਲਗਨਾ ॥
Jith Jith Laavehi Thith Thith Laganaa ||
जितु जितु लावहि तितु तितु लगना ॥
Whatever He attaches us to - to that we are attached.
ਅਪਨਾ ਭਲਾ ਸਭ ਕਾਹੂ ਮੰਗਨਾ ॥੪॥
Apanaa Bhalaa Sabh Kaahoo Manganaa ||4||
अपना भला सभ काहू मंगना ॥४॥
Everyone begs for their own good. ||4||
ਸਭ ਕਿਛੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਤੂੰ ਕਰਣੈਹਾਰੁ ॥
Sabh Kishh Thaeraa Thoon Karanaihaar ||
सभ किछु तेरा तूं करणैहारु ॥
Everything is Yours; You are the Creator Lord.
ਅੰਤੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਿਛੁ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰੁ ॥
Anth Naahee Kishh Paaraavaar ||
अंतु नाही किछु पारावारु ॥
You have no end or limitation.
ਦਾਸ ਅਪਨੇ ਕਉ ਦੀਜੈ ਦਾਨੁ ॥
Dhaas Apanae Ko Dheejai Dhaan ||
दास अपने कउ दीजै दानु ॥
Please give this gift to Your servant,
ਕਬਹੂ ਨ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੫॥੯॥੭੮॥

Bahuth Siaanap Aagal Bhaaraa ||
बहुतु सिआणप आगल भारा ॥
Through clever tricks, the weight is only piled on more and more.
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹੇਤ ॥
Har Kee Saevaa Niramal Haeth ||
हरि की सेवा निरमल हेत ॥
Serving the Lord with a pure heart,
