ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਦੀਆ ਪੈਨੈ ਖਾਇ ॥
Jis Kaa Dheeaa Painai Khaae ||
जिस का दीआ पैनै खाइ ॥
They wear and eat the gifts from the Lord;
ਤਿਸੁ ਸਿਉ ਆਲਸੁ ਕਿਉ ਬਨੈ ਮਾਇ ॥੧॥
This Sio Aalas Kio Banai Maae ||1||
तिसु सिउ आलसु किउ बनै माइ ॥१॥
How can laziness help them, O mother? ||1||
ਖਸਮੁ ਬਿਸਾਰਿ ਆਨ ਕੰਮਿ ਲਾਗਹਿ ॥
Khasam Bisaar Aan Kanm Laagehi ||
खसमु बिसारि आन कमि लागहि ॥
Forgetting her Husband Lord, and attaching herself to other affairs,
ਕਉਡੀ ਬਦਲੇ ਰਤਨੁ ਤਿਆਗਹਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Kouddee Badhalae Rathan Thiaagehi ||1|| Rehaao ||
कउडी बदले रतनु तिआगहि ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
The soul-bride throws away the precious jewel in exchange for a mere shell. ||1||Pause||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਲਾਗਤ ਅਨ ਲੋਭਾ ॥
Prabhoo Thiaag Laagath An Lobhaa ||
प्रभू तिआगि लागत अन लोभा ॥
Forsaking God, she is attached to other desires.
ਦਾਸਿ ਸਲਾਮੁ ਕਰਤ ਕਤ ਸੋਭਾ ॥੨॥
Dhaas Salaam Karath Kath Sobhaa ||2||
दासि सलामु करत कत सोभा ॥२॥
But who has gained honor by saluting the slave? ||2||
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਖਾਵਹਿ ਖਾਨ ਪਾਨ ॥
Anmrith Ras Khaavehi Khaan Paan ||
अम्रित रसु खावहि खान पान ॥
They consume food and drink, delicious and sublime as ambrosial nectar.
ਜਿਨਿ ਦੀਏ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਨ ਜਾਨਹਿ ਸੁਆਨ ॥੩॥
Jin Dheeeae Thisehi N Jaanehi Suaan ||3||
जिनि दीए तिसहि न जानहि सुआन ॥३॥
But the dog does not know the One who has bestowed these. ||3||
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਮ ਲੂਣ ਹਰਾਮੀ ॥
Kahu Naanak Ham Loon Haraamee ||
कहु नानक हम लूण हरामी ॥
Says Nanak, I have been unfaithful to my own nature.

प्रभ के चरन मन माहि धिआनु ॥
I meditate on the Feet of God within my mind.
ਸਗਲ ਤੀਰਥ ਮਜਨ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ॥੧॥
Sagal Theerathh Majan Eisanaan ||1||
सगल तीरथ मजन इसनानु ॥१॥
This is my cleansing bath at all the sacred shrines of pilgrimage. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥
Har Dhin Har Simaran Maerae Bhaaee ||
हरि दिनु हरि सिमरनु मेरे भाई ॥
Meditate in remembrance on the Lord every day, O my Siblings of Destiny.
ਕੋਟਿ ਜਨਮ ਕੀ ਮਲੁ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

कोटि जनम की मलु लहि जाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Thus, the filth of millions of incarnations shall be taken away. ||1||Pause||
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਕਥਾ ਰਿਦ ਮਾਹਿ ਬਸਾਈ ॥
Har Kee Kathhaa Ridh Maahi Basaaee ||
हरि की कथा रिद माहि बसाई ॥
Sitting in the Society of the Saints, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
ਮਨ ਬਾਂਛਤ ਸਗਲੇ ਫਲ ਪਾਈ ॥੨॥
Man Baanshhath Sagalae Fal Paaee ||2||
मन बांछत सगले फल पाई ॥२॥
And you shall obtain all the desires of your mind. ||2||
ਜੀਵਨ ਮਰਣੁ ਜਨਮੁ ਪਰਵਾਨੁ ॥
Jeevan Maran Janam Paravaan ||
जीवन मरणु जनमु परवानु ॥
Redeemed is the life, death and birth of those,
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਰਿਦੈ ਵਸੈ ਭਗਵਾਨੁ ॥੩॥
Jaa Kai Ridhai Vasai Bhagavaan ||3||
जा कै रिदै वसै भगवानु ॥३॥
Within whose hearts the Lord God abides. ||3||
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇਈ ਜਨ ਪੂਰੇ ॥

कहु नानक सेई जन पूरे ॥
Says Nanak, those humble beings are perfect,

ਖਾਦਾ ਪੈਨਦਾ ਮੂਕਰਿ ਪਾਇ ॥

खादा पैनदा मूकरि पाइ ॥
They eat and wear what they are given, but still, they deny the Lord.
ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਜੋਹਹਿ ਦੂਤ ਧਰਮਰਾਇ ॥੧॥
This No Johehi Dhooth Dhharamaraae ||1||
तिस नो जोहहि दूत धरमराइ ॥१॥
The messengers of the Righteous Judge of Dharma shall hunt them down. ||1||
ਤਿਸੁ ਸਿਉ ਬੇਮੁਖੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਦੀਨਾ ॥
This Sio Baemukh Jin Jeeo Pindd Dheenaa ||
तिसु सिउ बेमुखु जिनि जीउ पिंडु दीना ॥
They are unfaithful to the One, who has given them body and soul.
ਕੋਟਿ ਜਨਮ ਭਰਮਹਿ ਬਹੁ ਜੂਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

कोटि जनम भरमहि बहु जूना ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Through millions of incarnations, for so many lifetimes, they wander lost. ||1||Pause||
ਸਾਕਤ ਕੀ ਐਸੀ ਹੈ ਰੀਤਿ ॥
Saakath Kee Aisee Hai Reeth ||
साकत की ऐसी है रीति ॥
Such is the lifestyle of the faithless cynics;
ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੈ ਸਗਲ ਬਿਪਰੀਤਿ ॥੨॥
Jo Kishh Karai Sagal Bipareeth ||2||
जो किछु करै सगल बिपरीति ॥२॥
Everything they do is evil. ||2||
ਜੀਉ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਜਿਨਿ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਧਾਰਿਆ ॥
Jeeo Praan Jin Man Than Dhhaariaa ||
जीउ प्राण जिनि मनु तनु धारिआ ॥
Within their minds, they have forgotten that Lord and Master,
ਸੋਈ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਮਨਹੁ ਬਿਸਾਰਿਆ ॥੩॥
Soee Thaakur Manahu Bisaariaa ||3||
सोई ठाकुरु मनहु बिसारिआ ॥३॥
Who created the soul, breath of life, mind and body. ||3||
ਬਧੇ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਲਿਖੇ ਬਹੁ ਕਾਗਰ ॥
Badhhae Bikaar Likhae Bahu Kaagar ||
बधे बिकार लिखे बहु कागर ॥
Their wickedness and corruption have increased - they are recorded in volumes of books.
ਨਾਨਕ ਉਧਰੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ॥੪॥

नानक उधरु क्रिपा सुख सागर ॥४॥
O Nanak, they are saved only by the Mercy of God, the Ocean of peace. ||4||

अपने लोभ कउ कीनो मीतु ॥
For their own advantage, they make God their friend.
ਸਗਲ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਪਦੁ ਦੀਤੁ ॥੧॥
Sagal Manorathh Mukath Padh Dheeth ||1||
सगल मनोरथ मुकति पदु दीतु ॥१॥
He fulfills all their desires, and blesses them with the state of liberation. ||1||
ਐਸਾ ਮੀਤੁ ਕਰਹੁ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥
Aisaa Meeth Karahu Sabh Koe ||
ऐसा मीतु करहु सभु कोइ ॥
Everyone should make Him such a friend.
ਜਾ ਤੇ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Jaa Thae Birathhaa Koe N Hoe ||1|| Rehaao ||
जा ते बिरथा कोइ न होइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
No one goes away empty-handed from Him. ||1||Pause||
ਅਪੁਨੈ ਸੁਆਇ ਰਿਦੈ ਲੈ ਧਾਰਿਆ ॥
Apunai Suaae Ridhai Lai Dhhaariaa ||
अपुनै सुआइ रिदै लै धारिआ ॥
For their own purposes, they enshrine the Lord in the heart;
ਦੂਖ ਦਰਦ ਰੋਗ ਸਗਲ ਬਿਦਾਰਿਆ ॥੨॥
Dhookh Dharadh Rog Sagal Bidhaariaa ||2||
दूख दरद रोग सगल बिदारिआ ॥२॥
All pain, suffering and disease are taken away. ||2||
ਰਸਨਾ ਗੀਧੀ ਬੋਲਤ ਰਾਮ ॥
Rasanaa Geedhhee Bolath Raam ||
रसना गीधी बोलत राम ॥
In the Saadh Sangat, I have earned the wealth of the Naam.
ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਏ ਸਗਲੇ ਕਾਮ ॥੩॥
Pooran Hoeae Sagalae Kaam ||3||
पूरन होए सगले काम ॥३॥
And all their works are brought to perfection. ||3||
ਅਨਿਕ ਬਾਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਲਿਹਾਰਾ ॥

पीवत राम रसु अम्रित गुण जासु ॥
Peace, celestial bliss, pleasures and the greatest ecstasy are obtained;

The treasure of all happiness, celestial peace and poise,
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਰਿਦੈ ਵਸਹਿ ਭਗਵਾਨ ॥੨॥

जा कै रिदै वसहि भगवान ॥२॥
Are obtained by those, whose hearts are filled with the Lord God. ||2||
