ਜਾ ਕਉ ਤੁਮ ਭਏ ਸਮਰਥ ਅੰਗਾ ॥
Jaa Ko Thum Bheae Samarathh Angaa ||
जा कउ तुम भए समरथ अंगा ॥
Those who have You on their side, O All-powerful Lord
ਤਾ ਕਉ ਕਛੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਾਲੰਗਾ ॥੧॥
Thaa Ko Kashh Naahee Kaalangaa ||1||
ता कउ कछु नाही कालंगा ॥१॥
no black stain can stick to them. ||1||
ਮਾਧਉ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਹੈ ਆਸ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥
Maadhho Jaa Ko Hai Aas Thumaaree ||
माधउ जा कउ है आस तुमारी ॥
O Lord of wealth, those who place their hopes in You
ਤਾ ਕਉ ਕਛੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Thaa Ko Kashh Naahee Sansaaree ||1|| Rehaao ||
ता कउ कछु नाही संसारी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
nothing of the world can touch them at all. ||1||Pause||
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
Jaa Kai Hiradhai Thaakur Hoe ||
जा कै हिरदै ठाकुरु होइ ॥
Those whose hearts are filled with their Lord and Master
ਤਾ ਕਉ ਸਹਸਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥੨॥
Thaa Ko Sehasaa Naahee Koe ||2||
ता कउ सहसा नाही कोइ ॥२॥
no anxiety can affect them. ||2||
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਤੁਮ ਦੀਨੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਧੀਰ ॥
Jaa Ko Thum Dheenee Prabh Dhheer ||
जा कउ तुम दीनी प्रभ धीर ॥
Those, unto whom You give Your consolation, God
ਤਾ ਕੈ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਪੀਰ ॥੩॥
Thaa Kai Nikatt N Aavai Peer ||3||
ता कै निकटि न आवै पीर ॥३॥
pain does not even approach them. ||3||
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਮੈ ਸੋ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥

कहु नानक मै सो गुरु पाइआ ॥
Says Nanak, I have found that Guru,

ਦੁਲਭ ਦੇਹ ਪਾਈ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ॥
Dhulabh Dhaeh Paaee Vaddabhaagee ||
दुलभ देह पाई वडभागी ॥
This human body is so difficult to obtain; it is only obtained by great good fortune.
ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਜਪਹਿ ਤੇ ਆਤਮ ਘਾਤੀ ॥੧॥
Naam N Japehi Thae Aatham Ghaathee ||1||
नामु न जपहि ते आतम घाती ॥१॥
Those who do not meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, are murderers of the soul. ||1||
ਮਰਿ ਨ ਜਾਹੀ ਜਿਨਾ ਬਿਸਰਤ ਰਾਮ ॥
Mar N Jaahee Jinaa Bisarath Raam ||
मरि न जाही जिना बिसरत राम ॥
Those who forget the Lord might just as well die.
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਹੂਨ ਜੀਵਨ ਕਉਨ ਕਾਮ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

नाम बिहून जीवन कउन काम ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

ਖਾਤ ਪੀਤ ਖੇਲਤ ਹਸਤ ਬਿਸਥਾਰ ॥
Khaath Peeth Khaelath Hasath Bisathhaar ||
खात पीत खेलत हसत बिसथार ॥
Eating, drinking, playing, laughing and showing off
ਕਵਨ ਅਰਥ ਮਿਰਤਕ ਸੀਗਾਰ ॥੨॥
Kavan Arathh Mirathak Seegaar ||2||
कवन अरथ मिरतक सीगार ॥२॥
- what use are the ostentatious displays of the dead? ||2||
ਜੋ ਨ ਸੁਨਹਿ ਜਸੁ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦਾ ॥
Jo N Sunehi Jas Paramaanandhaa ||
जो न सुनहि जसु परमानंदा ॥
Those who do not listen to the Praises of the Lord of supreme bliss,
ਪਸੁ ਪੰਖੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਗਦ ਜੋਨਿ ਤੇ ਮੰਦਾ ॥੩॥
Pas Pankhee Thrigadh Jon Thae Mandhaa ||3||
पसु पंखी त्रिगद जोनि ते मंदा ॥३॥
Are worse off than beasts, birds or creeping creatures. ||3||
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਿ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ॥

Says Nanak, the GurMantra has been implanted within me;

Whose mother is this? Whose father is this?
ਨਾਮ ਧਾਰੀਕ ਝੂਠੇ ਸਭਿ ਸਾਕ ॥੧॥
Naam Dhhaareek Jhoothae Sabh Saak ||1||
नाम धारीक झूठे सभि साक ॥१॥
They are relatives in name only- they are all false. ||1||
ਕਾਹੇ ਕਉ ਮੂਰਖ ਭਖਲਾਇਆ ॥
Kaahae Ko Moorakh Bhakhalaaeiaa ||
काहे कउ मूरख भखलाइआ ॥
Why are you screaming and shouting, you fool?
ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਜੋਗਿ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਤੂੰ ਆਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Mil Sanjog Hukam Thoon Aaeiaa ||1|| Rehaao ||
मिलि संजोगि हुकमि तूं आइआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
I have come to understand my soul, and I enjoy supreme bliss. ||1||Pause||
ਏਕਾ ਮਾਟੀ ਏਕਾ ਜੋਤਿ ॥
Eaekaa Maattee Eaekaa Joth ||
एका माटी एका जोति ॥
There is the one dust, the one light,
ਏਕੋ ਪਵਨੁ ਕਹਾ ਕਉਨੁ ਰੋਤਿ ॥੨॥
Eaeko Pavan Kehaa Koun Roth ||2||
एको पवनु कहा कउनु रोति ॥२॥
The one praanic wind. Why are you crying? For whom do you cry? ||2||
ਮੇਰਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਕਰਿ ਬਿਲਲਾਹੀ ॥
Maeraa Maeraa Kar Bilalaahee ||
मेरा मेरा करि बिललाही ॥
People weep and cry out, ""Mine, mine!""
ਮਰਣਹਾਰੁ ਇਹੁ ਜੀਅਰਾ ਨਾਹੀ ॥੩॥
Maranehaar Eihu Jeearaa Naahee ||3||
मरणहारु इहु जीअरा नाही ॥३॥
This soul is not perishable. ||3||
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਿ ਖੋਲੇ ਕਪਾਟ ॥

कहु नानक गुरि खोले कपाट ॥
Says Nanak, the Guru has opened my shutters;

मुकतु भए बिनसे भ्रम थाट ॥४॥४३॥११२॥
I am liberated, and my doubts have been dispelled. ||4||43||112||

वडे वडे जो दीसहि लोग ॥
Those who seem to be great and powerful,
ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਰੋਗ ॥੧॥
Thin Ko Biaapai Chinthaa Rog ||1||
तिन कउ बिआपै चिंता रोग ॥१॥
Are afflicted by the disease of anxiety. ||1||
ਕਉਨ ਵਡਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
Koun Vaddaa Maaeiaa Vaddiaaee ||
कउन वडा माइआ वडिआई ॥
Who is great by the greatness of Maya?
ਸੋ ਵਡਾ ਜਿਨਿ ਰਾਮ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
So Vaddaa Jin Raam Liv Laaee ||1|| Rehaao ||
सो वडा जिनि राम लिव लाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
They alone are great, who are lovingly attached to the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਭੂਮੀਆ ਭੂਮਿ ਊਪਰਿ ਨਿਤ ਲੁਝੈ ॥
Bhoomeeaa Bhoom Oopar Nith Lujhai ||
भूमीआ भूमि ऊपरि नित लुझै ॥
The landlord fights over his land each day.
ਛੋਡਿ ਚਲੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਨਹੀ ਬੁਝੈ ॥੨॥
Shhodd Chalai Thrisanaa Nehee Bujhai ||2||
छोडि चलै त्रिसना नही बुझै ॥२॥
He shall have to leave it in the end, and yet his desire is still not satisfied. ||2||
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹੁ ਤਤੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥
Kahu Naanak Eihu Thath Beechaaraa ||
कहु नानक इहु ततु बीचारा ॥
Says Nanak, this is the essence of Truth:
ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਭਜਨ ਨਾਹੀ ਛੁਟਕਾਰਾ ॥੩॥੪੪॥੧੧੩॥

बिनु हरि भजन नाही छुटकारा ॥३॥४४॥११३॥
His Love brings eternal peace;

Perfect is the path; perfect is the cleansing bath.
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੧॥
Sabh Kishh Pooraa Hiradhai Naam ||1||
सभु किछु पूरा हिरदै नामु ॥१॥
Everything is perfect, if the Naam is in the heart. ||1||
ਪੂਰੀ ਰਹੀ ਜਾ ਪੂਰੈ ਰਾਖੀ ॥
Pooree Rehee Jaa Poorai Raakhee ||
पूरी रही जा पूरै राखी ॥
One's honor remains perfect, when the Perfect Lord preserves it.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਜਨ ਤਾਕੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Pooraa Sukh Pooraa Santhokh ||
पूरा सुखु पूरा संतोखु ॥
Perfect is the peace; perfect is the contentment.
ਪੂਰਾ ਤਪੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਰਾਜੁ ਜੋਗੁ ॥੨॥
Pooraa Thap Pooran Raaj Jog ||2||
पूरा तपु पूरन राजु जोगु ॥२॥
Perfect is the penance; perfect is the Raja Yoga, the Yoga of meditation and success. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਪਤਿਤ ਪੁਨੀਤ ॥
Har Kai Maarag Pathith Puneeth ||
हरि कै मारगि पतित पुनीत ॥
On the Lord's Path, sinners are purified.
ਪੂਰੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਪੂਰਾ ਲੋਕੀਕ ॥੩॥
Pooree Sobhaa Pooraa Lokeek ||3||
पूरी सोभा पूरा लोकीक ॥३॥
Perfect is their glory; perfect is their humanity. ||3||
ਕਰਣਹਾਰੁ ਸਦ ਵਸੈ ਹਦੂਰਾ ॥
Karanehaar Sadh Vasai Hadhooraa ||
करणहारु सद वसै हदूरा ॥
They dwell forever in the Presence of the Creator Lord.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ॥੪॥੪੫॥੧੧੪॥
