करमा उपरि निबड़ै जे लोचै सभु कोइ ॥३॥
According to the karma of past actions, one's destiny unfolds, even though everyone wants to be so lucky. ||3||
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਰਣਾ ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਆ ਸੋਈ ਸਾਰ ਕਰੇਇ ॥

नानक करणा जिनि कीआ सोई सार करेइ ॥
O Nanak, the One who created the creation - He alone takes care of it.

What if I were to become a deer, and live in the forest, picking and eating fruits and roots
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਹੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਾਰਿ ਵਾਰਿ ਹਉ ਜਾਉ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥

गुर परसादी मेरा सहु मिलै वारि वारि हउ जाउ जीउ ॥१॥

कोकिल होवा अ्मबि बसा सहजि सबद बीचारु ॥
If I were to become a cuckoo, living in a mango tree, I would still contemplate the Word of the Shabad.
ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਹੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਦਰਸਨਿ ਰੂਪਿ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥੨॥
Sehaj Subhaae Maeraa Sahu Milai Dharasan Roop Apaar ||2||
सहजि सुभाइ मेरा सहु मिलै दरसनि रूपि अपारु ॥२॥
I would still meet my Lord and Master, with intuitive ease; the Darshan, the Blessed Vision of His Form, is incomparably beautiful. ||2||
ਮਛੁਲੀ ਹੋਵਾ ਜਲਿ ਬਸਾ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਸਾਰਿ ॥
Mashhulee Hovaa Jal Basaa Jeea Janth Sabh Saar ||
मछुली होवा जलि बसा जीअ जंत सभि सारि ॥
If I were to become a fish, living in the water, I would still remember the Lord, who watches over all beings and creatures.
ਉਰਵਾਰਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਹੁ ਵਸੈ ਹਉ ਮਿਲਉਗੀ ਬਾਹ ਪਸਾਰਿ ॥੩॥
Ouravaar Paar Maeraa Sahu Vasai Ho Milougee Baah Pasaar ||3||
उरवारि पारि मेरा सहु वसै हउ मिलउगी बाह पसारि ॥३॥
My Husband Lord dwells on this shore, and on the shore beyond; I would still meet Him, and hug Him close in my embrace. ||3||
ਨਾਗਨਿ ਹੋਵਾ ਧਰ ਵਸਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਵਸੈ ਭਉ ਜਾਇ ॥
Naagan Hovaa Dhhar Vasaa Sabadh Vasai Bho Jaae ||
नागनि होवा धर वसा सबदु वसै भउ जाइ ॥
If I were to become a snake, living in the ground, the Shabad would still dwell in my mind, and my fears would be dispelled.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦਾ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਜਿਨ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੪॥੨॥੧੯॥

नानक सदा सोहागणी जिन जोती जोति समाइ ॥४॥२॥१९॥

Thith Ghar Gaavahu Sohilaa Sivarahu Sirajanehaaro ||1||
तितु घरि गावहु सोहिला सिवरहु सिरजणहारो ॥१॥
- in that house, sing the Songs of Praise, and meditate in remembrance on the Creator Lord. ||1||
ਤੁਮ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਕਾ ਸੋਹਿਲਾ ॥
Thum Gaavahu Maerae Nirabho Kaa Sohilaa ||
तुम गावहु मेरे निरभउ का सोहिला ॥
Sing the Songs of Praise of my Fearless Lord.
ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜਾਉ ਜਿਤੁ ਸੋਹਿਲੈ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Ho Vaaree Jaao Jith Sohilai Sadhaa Sukh Hoe ||1|| Rehaao ||
हउ वारी जाउ जितु सोहिलै सदा सुखु होइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

नित नित जीअड़े समालीअनि देखैगा देवणहारु ॥
Day after day, He cares for His beings; the Great Giver watches over all.

तेरे दानै कीमति ना पवै तिसु दाते कवणु सुमारु ॥२॥
Your gifts cannot be appraised; how can anyone compare to the Giver? ||2||

स्मबति साहा लिखिआ मिलि करि पावहु तेलु ॥
The day of my wedding is pre-ordained. Come - let's gather together and pour the oil over the threshold.
ਦੇਹੁ ਸਜਣ ਆਸੀਸੜੀਆ ਜਿਉ ਹੋਵੈ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸਿਉ ਮੇਲੁ ॥੩॥

देहु सजण आसीसड़ीआ जिउ होवै साहिब सिउ मेलु ॥३॥
My friends, give me your blessings, that I may merge with my Lord and Master. ||3||
ਘਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਏਹੋ ਪਾਹੁਚਾ ਸਦੜੇ ਨਿਤ ਪਵੰਨਿ ॥
Ghar Ghar Eaeho Paahuchaa Sadharrae Nith Pavann ||
घरि घरि एहो पाहुचा सदड़े नित पवंनि ॥
Unto each and every home, into each and every heart, this summons is sent out; the call comes each and every day.
ਸਦਣਹਾਰਾ ਸਿਮਰੀਐ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇ ਦਿਹ ਆਵੰਨਿ ॥੪॥੧॥੨੦॥

He Himself unites us in His Union.
ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਭ ਬਿਧਿ ਆਪੇ ਜਾਣੈ ॥

मेरा प्रभु सभ बिधि आपे जाणै ॥
My God knows all His Own Ways.

Meeting the Guru, the Lord naturally dwells within the mind.
ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਭਾਰਾ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਇ ॥

मेरा प्रभु भारा कीमति नही पाइ ॥
My God is Great and Almighty; His value cannot be estimated.
ਸਬਦਿ ਸਾਲਾਹੈ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰੁ ॥

सबदि सालाहै अंतु न पारावारु ॥
Through the Shabad, I praise Him; He has no end or limitations.
