Manasaa Maar Sach Samaanee ||
मनसा मारि सचि समाणी ॥
Subduing their desires, they merge with the True One;
ਇਨਿ ਮਨਿ ਡੀਠੀ ਸਭ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੀ ॥
Ein Man Ddeethee Sabh Aavan Jaanee ||
इनि मनि डीठी सभ आवण जाणी ॥
They see in their minds that everyone comes and goes in reincarnation.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਸਦਾ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥
Sathigur Saevae Sadhaa Man Nihachal Nij Ghar Vaasaa Paavaniaa ||3||
सतिगुरु सेवे सदा मनु निहचलु निज घरि वासा पावणिआ ॥३॥
Serving the True Guru, they become stable forever, and they obtain their dwelling in the home of the self. ||3||
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥
Gur Kai Sabadh Ridhai Dhikhaaeiaa ||
गुर कै सबदि रिदै दिखाइआ ॥
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, the Lord is seen within one's own heart.
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਇਆ ॥
Maaeiaa Mohu Sabadh Jalaaeiaa ||
माइआ मोहु सबदि जलाइआ ॥
Through the Shabad, I have burned my emotional attachment to Maya.
ਸਚੋ ਸਚਾ ਵੇਖਿ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥
Sacho Sachaa Vaekh Saalaahee Gur Sabadhee Sach Paavaniaa ||4||
सचो सचा वेखि सालाही गुर सबदी सचु पावणिआ ॥४॥
I gaze upon the Truest of the True, and I praise Him. Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, I obtain the True One. ||4||
ਜੋ ਸਚਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਤਿਨ ਸਚੀ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੀ ॥
Jo Sach Raathae Thin Sachee Liv Laagee ||
जो सचि राते तिन सची लिव लागी ॥
Those who are attuned to Truth are blessed with the Love of the True One.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਹਿ ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ॥
Har Naam Samaalehi Sae Vaddabhaagee ||
हरि नामु समालहि से वडभागी ॥
Those who praise the Lord's Name are very fortunate.
ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਚੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥
Sachai Sabadh Aap Milaaeae Sathasangath Sach Gun Gaavaniaa ||5||
सचै सबदि आपि मिलाए सतसंगति सचु गुण गावणिआ ॥५॥
Through the Word of His Shabad, the True One blends with Himself, those who join the True Congregation and sing the Glorious Praises of the True One. ||5||
ਲੇਖਾ ਪੜੀਐ ਜੇ ਲੇਖੇ ਵਿਚਿ ਹੋਵੈ ॥
Laekhaa Parreeai Jae Laekhae Vich Hovai ||
लेखा पड़ीऐ जे लेखे विचि होवै ॥
We could read the account of the Lord, if He were in any account.
ਓਹੁ ਅਗਮੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਧਿ ਹੋਵੈ ॥
Ouhu Agam Agochar Sabadh Sudhh Hovai ||
ओहु अगमु अगोचरु सबदि सुधि होवै ॥
He is Inaccessible and Incomprehensible; through the Shabad, understanding is obtained.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਚ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਹੋਰੁ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥
Anadhin Sach Sabadh Saalaahee Hor Koe N Keemath Paavaniaa ||6||
अनदिनु सच सबदि सालाही होरु कोइ न कीमति पावणिआ ॥६॥
Night and day, praise the True Word of the Shabad. There is no other way to know His Worth. ||6||
ਪੜਿ ਪੜਿ ਥਾਕੇ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਨ ਆਈ ॥
Parr Parr Thhaakae Saanth N Aaee ||
पड़ि पड़ि थाके सांति न आई ॥
People read and recite until they grow weary, but they do not find peace.
ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਜਾਲੇ ਸੁਧਿ ਨ ਕਾਈ ॥
Thrisanaa Jaalae Sudhh N Kaaee ||
त्रिसना जाले सुधि न काई ॥
Consumed by desire, they have no understanding at all.
ਬਿਖੁ ਬਿਹਾਝਹਿ ਬਿਖੁ ਮੋਹ ਪਿਆਸੇ ਕੂੜੁ ਬੋਲਿ ਬਿਖੁ ਖਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥
Bikh Bihaajhehi Bikh Moh Piaasae Koorr Bol Bikh Khaavaniaa ||7||
बिखु बिहाझहि बिखु मोह पिआसे कूड़ु बोलि बिखु खावणिआ ॥७॥
They purchase poison, and they are thirsty with their fascination for poison. Telling lies, they eat poison. ||7||
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਣਾ ॥
Gur Parasaadhee Eaeko Jaanaa ||
गुर परसादी एको जाणा ॥
By Guru's Grace, I know the One.
ਦੂਜਾ ਮਾਰਿ ਮਨੁ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਣਾ ॥
Dhoojaa Maar Man Sach Samaanaa ||
दूजा मारि मनु सचि समाणा ॥
Subduing my sense of duality, my mind is absorbed into the True One.
ਨਾਨਕ ਏਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਮਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੧੭॥੧੮॥

In all colors and forms, You are pervading.
ਮਰਿ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਫੇਰ ਪਵਹਿ ਘਣੇਰੇ ॥
Mar Mar Janmehi Faer Pavehi Ghanaerae ||
मरि मरि जमहि फेर पवहि घणेरे ॥
People die over and over again; they are re-born, and make their rounds on the wheel of reincarnation.
ਤੂੰ ਏਕੋ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰਾ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਬੂਝ ਬੁਝਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥
Thoon Eaeko Nihachal Agam Apaaraa Guramathee Boojh Bujhaavaniaa ||1||
तूं एको निहचलु अगम अपारा गुरमती बूझ बुझावणिआ ॥१॥
You alone are Eternal and Unchanging, Inaccessible and Infinite. Through the Guru's Teachings, understanding is imparted. ||1||
ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਣਿਆ ॥
Ho Vaaree Jeeo Vaaree Raam Naam Mann Vasaavaniaa ||
हउ वारी जीउ वारी राम नामु मंनि वसावणिआ ॥
I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those who enshrine the Lord's Name in their minds.
ਤਿਸੁ ਰੂਪੁ ਨ ਰੇਖਿਆ ਵਰਨੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਆਪਿ ਬੁਝਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

तिसु रूपु न रेखिआ वरनु न कोई गुरमती आपि बुझावणिआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
The Lord has no form, features or color. Through the Guru's Teachings, He inspires us to understand Him. ||1||Pause||
ਸਭ ਏਕਾ ਜੋਤਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ॥
Sabh Eaekaa Joth Jaanai Jae Koee ||
सभ एका जोति जाणै जे कोई ॥
The One Light is all-pervading; only a few know this.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਈ ॥
Sathigur Saeviai Paragatt Hoee ||
सतिगुरु सेविऐ परगटु होई ॥
Serving the True Guru, this is revealed.
ਗੁਪਤੁ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਸਭ ਥਾਈ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥
Gupath Paragatt Varathai Sabh Thhaaee Jothee Joth Milaavaniaa ||2||
गुपतु परगटु वरतै सभ थाई जोती जोति मिलावणिआ ॥२॥
In the hidden and in the obvious, He is pervading all places. Our light merges into the Light. ||2||
ਤਿਸਨਾ ਅਗਨਿ ਜਲੈ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥
Thisanaa Agan Jalai Sansaaraa ||
तिसना अगनि जलै संसारा ॥
The world is burning in the fire of desire,
ਲੋਭੁ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਅਹੰਕਾਰਾ ॥
Lobh Abhimaan Bahuth Ahankaaraa ||
लोभु अभिमानु बहुतु अहंकारा ॥
In greed, arrogance and excessive ego.
ਮਰਿ ਮਰਿ ਜਨਮੈ ਪਤਿ ਗਵਾਏ ਅਪਣੀ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥
Mar Mar Janamai Path Gavaaeae Apanee Birathhaa Janam Gavaavaniaa ||3||
मरि मरि जनमै पति गवाए अपणी बिरथा जनमु गवावणिआ ॥३॥
People die over and over again; they are re-born, and lose their honor. They waste away their lives in vain. ||3||
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਕੋ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਬੂਝੈ ॥
Gur Kaa Sabadh Ko Viralaa Boojhai ||
गुर का सबदु को विरला बूझै ॥
Those who understand the Word of the Guru's Shabad are very rare.
ਆਪੁ ਮਾਰੇ ਤਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣੁ ਸੂਝੈ ॥
Aap Maarae Thaa Thribhavan Soojhai ||
आपु मारे ता त्रिभवणु सूझै ॥
Those who subdue their egotism, come to know the three worlds.
ਫਿਰਿ ਓਹੁ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਮਰਣਾ ਹੋਵੈ ਸਹਜੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥
Fir Ouhu Marai N Maranaa Hovai Sehajae Sach Samaavaniaa ||4||
फिरि ओहु मरै न मरणा होवै सहजे सचि समावणिआ ॥४॥
Then, they die, never to die again. They are intuitively absorbed in the True One. ||4||
ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਨ ਲਾਏ ॥
Maaeiaa Mehi Fir Chith N Laaeae ||
माइआ महि फिरि चितु न लाए ॥
They do not focus their consciousness on Maya again.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਦ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਏ ॥
Gur Kai Sabadh Sadh Rehai Samaaeae ||
गुर कै सबदि सद रहै समाए ॥
They remain absorbed forever in the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਸਚੁ ਸਲਾਹੇ ਸਭ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਚੋ ਸਚੁ ਸੁਹਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥
Sach Salaahae Sabh Ghatt Anthar Sacho Sach Suhaavaniaa ||5||
सचु सलाहे सभ घट अंतरि सचो सचु सुहावणिआ ॥५॥
They praise the True One, who is contained deep within all hearts. They are blessed and exalted by the Truest of the True. ||5||
ਸਚੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਹਜੂਰੇ ॥
Sach Saalaahee Sadhaa Hajoorae ||
सचु सालाही सदा हजूरे ॥
Praise the True One, who is Ever-present.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰੇ ॥
Gur Kai Sabadh Rehiaa Bharapoorae ||
गुर कै सबदि रहिआ भरपूरे ॥
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, He is pervading everywhere.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸਚੁ ਨਦਰੀ ਆਵੈ ਸਚੇ ਹੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥
Gur Parasaadhee Sach Nadharee Aavai Sachae Hee Sukh Paavaniaa ||6||
गुर परसादी सचु नदरी आवै सचे ही सुखु पावणिआ ॥६॥
By Guru's Grace, we come to behold the True One; from the True One, peace is obtained. ||6||
ਸਚੁ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
Sach Man Andhar Rehiaa Samaae ||
सचु मन अंदरि रहिआ समाइ ॥
The True One permeates and pervades the mind within.
ਸਦਾ ਸਚੁ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਆਵੈ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
Sadhaa Sach Nihachal Aavai N Jaae ||
सदा सचु निहचलु आवै न जाइ ॥
The True One is Eternal and Unchanging; He does not come and go in reincarnation.
ਸਚੇ ਲਾਗੈ ਸੋ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥
Sachae Laagai So Man Niramal Guramathee Sach Samaavaniaa ||7||
सचे लागै सो मनु निरमलु गुरमती सचि समावणिआ ॥७॥
Those who are attached to the True One are immaculate and pure. Through the Guru's Teachings, they merge in the True One. ||7||

सचु सालाही अवरु न कोई ॥
Praise the True One, and no other.
ਜਿਤੁ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ॥

जितु सेविऐ सदा सुखु होई ॥
Serving Him, eternal peace is obtained.
