भलो समो सिमरन की बरीआ ॥
It is a good time, when I remember Him in meditation.

नेत्र संतन का दरसनु पेखु ॥
With your eyes, behold the Blessed Vision of the Saints.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਵਿਨਾਸੀ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਲੇਖੁ ॥੨॥

प्रभ अविनासी मन महि लेखु ॥२॥
Record the Immortal Lord God within your mind. ||2||
ਸੁਣਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਸਾਧ ਪਹਿ ਜਾਇ ॥

सुणि कीरतनु साध पहि जाइ ॥
Listen to the Kirtan of His Praises, at the Feet of the Holy.
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਕੀ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਮਿਟਾਇ ॥੩॥
Janam Maran Kee Thraas Mittaae ||3||
जनम मरण की त्रास मिटाइ ॥३॥
Your fears of birth and death shall depart. ||3||

जा कउ अपनी किरपा धारै ॥
Those, upon whom the Lord Himself showers His Mercy,
ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਰਸਨਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਚਾਰੈ ॥੧॥
So Jan Rasanaa Naam Ouchaarai ||1||
सो जनु रसना नामु उचारै ॥१॥
Chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord, with their tongues. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਬਿਸਰਤ ਸਹਸਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਬਿਆਪੈ ॥
Har Bisarath Sehasaa Dhukh Biaapai ||
हरि बिसरत सहसा दुखु बिआपै ॥
Forgetting the Lord, superstition and sorrow shall overtake you.
ਸਿਮਰਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਭਾਗੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

सिमरत नामु भरमु भउ भागै ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Meditating on the Naam, doubt and fear shall depart. ||1||Pause||
ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਸੁਣੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗਾਵੈ ॥
Har Keerathan Sunai Har Keerathan Gaavai ||
हरि कीरतनु सुणै हरि कीरतनु गावै ॥
Listening to the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises, and singing the Lord's Kirtan
ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਦੂਖੁ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਨਹੀ ਆਵੈ ॥੨॥
This Jan Dhookh Nikatt Nehee Aavai ||2||
तिसु जन दूखु निकटि नही आवै ॥२॥
Misfortune shall not even come near you. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਟਹਲ ਕਰਤ ਜਨੁ ਸੋਹੈ ॥
Har Kee Ttehal Karath Jan Sohai ||
हरि की टहल करत जनु सोहै ॥
Working for the Lord, His humble servants look beautiful.
ਤਾ ਕਉ ਮਾਇਆ ਅਗਨਿ ਨ ਪੋਹੈ ॥੩॥
Thaa Ko Maaeiaa Agan N Pohai ||3||
ता कउ माइआ अगनि न पोहै ॥३॥
The fire of Maya does not touch them. ||3||
ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦਇਆਲ ॥
Man Than Mukh Har Naam Dhaeiaal ||
मनि तनि मुखि हरि नामु दइआल ॥
Within their minds, bodies and mouths, is the Name of the Merciful Lord.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਜੀਅਲੇ ਅਵਰਿ ਜੰਜਾਲ ॥੪॥੫੨॥੧੨੧॥

Seek the Support of the Perfect Guru. ||1||
ਦੁਖ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਸੁਖ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥
Dhukh Binasae Sukh Har Gun Gaae ||
दुख बिनसे सुख हरि गुण गाइ ॥
Your pain shall depart, and in peace, you shall sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Those who work willingly, and chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har

हरि का नामु दीओ गुरि मंत्रु ॥
The Guru has given me the Mantra of the Name of the Lord.
ਮਿਟੇ ਵਿਸੂਰੇ ਉਤਰੀ ਚਿੰਤ ॥੨॥
Mittae Visoorae Outharee Chinth ||2||
मिटे विसूरे उतरी चिंत ॥२॥
My worries are forgotten, and my anxiety is gone. ||2||
ਅਨਦ ਭਏ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਤ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ॥
Anadh Bheae Gur Milath Kirapaal ||
अनद भए गुर मिलत क्रिपाल ॥
Meeting with the Merciful Guru, I am in ecstasy.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਾਟੇ ਜਮ ਜਾਲ ॥੩॥
Kar Kirapaa Kaattae Jam Jaal ||3||
करि किरपा काटे जम जाल ॥३॥
Showering His Mercy, He has cut away the noose of the Messenger of Death. ||3||

कहु नानक गुरु पूरा पाइआ ॥

The Perfect Guru Himself has saved me.
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਕਉ ਲਾਗੋ ਸੰਤਾਪੁ ॥੧॥
Manamukh Ko Laago Santhaap ||1||
मनमुख कउ लागो संतापु ॥१॥
The self-willed manmukhs are afflicted with misfortune. ||1||
ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰੂ ਜਪਿ ਮੀਤ ਹਮਾਰੇ ॥
Guroo Guroo Jap Meeth Hamaarae ||
गुरू गुरू जपि मीत हमारे ॥
Chant and meditate on the Guru, the Guru, O my friend.
ਮੁਖ ਊਜਲ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਦਰਬਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Mukh Oojal Hovehi Dharabaarae ||1|| Rehaao ||
मुख ऊजल होवहि दरबारे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Your face shall be radiant in the Court of the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਰਣ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵਸਾਇ ॥
Gur Kae Charan Hiradhai Vasaae ||
गुर के चरण हिरदै वसाइ ॥
Enshrine the Feet of the Guru within your heart;
ਦੁਖ ਦੁਸਮਨ ਤੇਰੀ ਹਤੈ ਬਲਾਇ ॥੨॥
Dhukh Dhusaman Thaeree Hathai Balaae ||2||
दुख दुसमन तेरी हतै बलाइ ॥२॥
Your pains, enemies and bad luck shall be destroyed. ||2||
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਤੇਰੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਹਾਈ ॥
Gur Kaa Sabadh Thaerai Sang Sehaaee ||
गुर का सबदु तेरै संगि सहाई ॥
With each and every breath, they remember the Naam. ||3||
ਦਇਆਲ ਭਏ ਸਗਲੇ ਜੀਅ ਭਾਈ ॥੩॥
Dhaeiaal Bheae Sagalae Jeea Bhaaee ||3||
दइआल भए सगले जीअ भाई ॥३॥
O Siblings of Destiny, all beings shall be kind to you. ||3||
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਜਬ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੀ ॥

गुरि पूरै जब किरपा करी ॥
When the Perfect Guru granted His Grace,

Like beasts, they consume all sorts of tasty treats.
ਮੋਹ ਕੀ ਜੇਵਰੀ ਬਾਧਿਓ ਚੋਰ ॥੧॥
Moh Kee Jaevaree Baadhhiou Chor ||1||
मोह की जेवरी बाधिओ चोर ॥१॥
With the rope of emotional attachment, they are bound and gagged like thieves. ||1||
ਮਿਰਤਕ ਦੇਹ ਸਾਧਸੰਗ ਬਿਹੂਨਾ ॥
Mirathak Dhaeh Saadhhasang Bihoonaa ||
मिरतक देह साधसंग बिहूना ॥
Their bodies are corpses, without the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਆਵਤ ਜਾਤ ਜੋਨੀ ਦੁਖ ਖੀਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Aavath Jaath Jonee Dhukh Kheenaa ||1|| Rehaao ||
आवत जात जोनी दुख खीना ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
They come and go in reincarnation, and are destroyed by pain. ||1||Pause||
ਅਨਿਕ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਪਹਿਰਾਇਆ ॥
Anik Basathr Sundhar Pehiraaeiaa ||
अनिक बसत्र सुंदर पहिराइआ ॥
They wear all sorts of beautiful robes,
ਜਿਉ ਡਰਨਾ ਖੇਤ ਮਾਹਿ ਡਰਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
Jio Ddaranaa Khaeth Maahi Ddaraaeiaa ||2||
जिउ डरना खेत माहि डराइआ ॥२॥
But they are still just scarecrows in the field, frightening away the birds. ||2||
ਸਗਲ ਸਰੀਰ ਆਵਤ ਸਭ ਕਾਮ ॥
Sagal Sareer Aavath Sabh Kaam ||
सगल सरीर आवत सभ काम ॥
All bodies are of some use,
ਨਿਹਫਲ ਮਾਨੁਖੁ ਜਪੈ ਨਹੀ ਨਾਮ ॥੩॥
Nihafal Maanukh Japai Nehee Naam ||3||
निहफल मानुखु जपै नही नाम ॥३॥
But those who do not meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, are totally useless. ||3||
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਭਏ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
Kahu Naanak Jaa Ko Bheae Dhaeiaalaa ||
कहु नानक जा कउ भए दइआला ॥
Says Nanak, those unto whom the Lord becomes Merciful,
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਭਜਹਿ ਗਪਾਲਾ ॥੪॥੫੫॥੧੨੪॥
Saadhhasang Mil Bhajehi Guopaalaa ||4||55||124||
साधसंगि मिलि भजहि गोपाला ॥४॥५५॥१२४॥
Join the Saadh Sangat, and meditate on the Lord of the Universe. ||4||55||124||
