ਹਰਿ ਚੇਤਹੁ ਅੰਤਿ ਹੋਇ ਸਖਾਈ ॥
Har Chaethahu Anth Hoe Sakhaaee ||
हरि चेतहु अंति होइ सखाई ॥
Think of the Lord, who shall be your Help and Support in the end.
ਹਰਿ ਅਗਮੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਅਨਾਥੁ ਅਜੋਨੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਇ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥
Har Agam Agochar Anaathh Ajonee Sathigur Kai Bhaae Paavaniaa ||1||
हरि अगमु अगोचरु अनाथु अजोनी सतिगुर कै भाइ पावणिआ ॥१॥
The Lord is Inaccessible and Incomprehensible. He has no master, and He is not born. He is obtained through love of the True Guru. ||1||
ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਆਪੁ ਨਿਵਾਰਣਿਆ ॥
Ho Vaaree Jeeo Vaaree Aap Nivaaraniaa ||
हउ वारी जीउ वारी आपु निवारणिआ ॥
I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those who eliminate selfishness and conceit.
ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਏ ਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਏ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Aap Gavaaeae Thaa Har Paaeae Har Sio Sehaj Samaavaniaa ||1|| Rehaao ||
आपु गवाए ता हरि पाए हरि सिउ सहजि समावणिआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
They eradicate selfishness and conceit, and then find the Lord; they are intuitively immersed in the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਸੁ ਕਰਮੁ ਕਮਾਇਆ ॥
Poorab Likhiaa S Karam Kamaaeiaa ||
पूरबि लिखिआ सु करमु कमाइआ ॥
According to their pre-ordained destiny, they act out their karma.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
Sathigur Saev Sadhaa Sukh Paaeiaa ||
सतिगुरु सेवि सदा सुखु पाइआ ॥
Serving the True Guru, a lasting peace is found.
ਬਿਨੁ ਭਾਗਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਨਾਹੀ ਸਬਦੈ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥
Bin Bhaagaa Gur Paaeeai Naahee Sabadhai Mael Milaavaniaa ||2||
बिनु भागा गुरु पाईऐ नाही सबदै मेलि मिलावणिआ ॥२॥
Without good fortune, the Guru is not found. Through the Word of the Shabad, they are united in the Lord's Union. ||2||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅਲਿਪਤੁ ਰਹੈ ਸੰਸਾਰੇ ॥
Guramukh Alipath Rehai Sansaarae ||
गुरमुखि अलिपतु रहै संसारे ॥
The Gurmukhs remain unaffected in the midst of the world.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਤਕੀਐ ਨਾਮਿ ਅਧਾਰੇ ॥
Gur Kai Thakeeai Naam Adhhaarae ||
गुर कै तकीऐ नामि अधारे ॥
The Guru is their cushion, and the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is their Support.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜੋਰੁ ਕਰੇ ਕਿਆ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਪੇ ਖਪਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥
Guramukh Jor Karae Kiaa This No Aapae Khap Dhukh Paavaniaa ||3||
गुरमुखि जोरु करे किआ तिस नो आपे खपि दुखु पावणिआ ॥३॥
Who can oppress the Gurmukh? One who tries shall perish, writhing in pain. ||3||
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਧੇ ਸੁਧਿ ਨ ਕਾਈ ॥
Manamukh Andhhae Sudhh N Kaaee ||
मनमुखि अंधे सुधि न काई ॥
The blind self-willed manmukhs have no understanding at all.
ਆਤਮ ਘਾਤੀ ਹੈ ਜਗਤ ਕਸਾਈ ॥
Aatham Ghaathee Hai Jagath Kasaaee ||
आतम घाती है जगत कसाई ॥
They are the assassins of the self, and the butchers of the world.
ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਬਹੁ ਭਾਰੁ ਉਠਾਵੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਮਜੂਰੀ ਭਾਰੁ ਪਹੁਚਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥
Nindhaa Kar Kar Bahu Bhaar Outhaavai Bin Majooree Bhaar Pahuchaavaniaa ||4||
निंदा करि करि बहु भारु उठावै बिनु मजूरी भारु पहुचावणिआ ॥४॥
By continually slandering others, they carry a terrible load, and they carry the loads of others for nothing. ||4||
ਇਹੁ ਜਗੁ ਵਾੜੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਾਲੀ ॥
Eihu Jag Vaarree Maeraa Prabh Maalee ||
इहु जगु वाड़ी मेरा प्रभु माली ॥
This world is a garden, and my Lord God is the Gardener.
ਸਦਾ ਸਮਾਲੇ ਕੋ ਨਾਹੀ ਖਾਲੀ ॥
Sadhaa Samaalae Ko Naahee Khaalee ||
सदा समाले को नाही खाली ॥
He always takes care of it-nothing is exempt from His Care.
ਜੇਹੀ ਵਾਸਨਾ ਪਾਏ ਤੇਹੀ ਵਰਤੈ ਵਾਸੂ ਵਾਸੁ ਜਣਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥
Jaehee Vaasanaa Paaeae Thaehee Varathai Vaasoo Vaas Janaavaniaa ||5||
जेही वासना पाए तेही वरतै वासू वासु जणावणिआ ॥५॥
As is the fragrance which He bestows, so is the fragrant flower known. ||5||
ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਰੋਗੀ ਹੈ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥
Manamukh Rogee Hai Sansaaraa ||
मनमुखु रोगी है संसारा ॥
The self-willed manmukhs are sick and diseased in the world.
ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਵਿਸਰਿਆ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
Sukhadhaathaa Visariaa Agam Apaaraa ||
सुखदाता विसरिआ अगम अपारा ॥
They have forgotten the Giver of peace, the Unfathomable, the Infinite.
ਦੁਖੀਏ ਨਿਤਿ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਬਿਲਲਾਦੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਨ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥
Dhukheeeae Nith Firehi Bilalaadhae Bin Gur Saanth N Paavaniaa ||6||
दुखीए निति फिरहि बिललादे बिनु गुर सांति न पावणिआ ॥६॥
These miserable people wander endlessly, crying out in pain; without the Guru, they find no peace. ||6||
ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਤੇ ਸੋਈ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਣੈ ॥
Jin Keethae Soee Bidhh Jaanai ||
जिनि कीते सोई बिधि जाणै ॥
The One who created them, knows their condition.
ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਤਾ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥
Aap Karae Thaa Hukam Pashhaanai ||
आपि करे ता हुकमि पछाणै ॥
And if He inspires them, then they realize the Hukam of His Command.
ਜੇਹਾ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਏ ਤੇਹਾ ਵਰਤੈ ਆਪੇ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥
Jaehaa Andhar Paaeae Thaehaa Varathai Aapae Baahar Paavaniaa ||7||
जेहा अंदरि पाए तेहा वरतै आपे बाहरि पावणिआ ॥७॥
Whatever He places within them, that is what prevails, and so they outwardly appear. ||7||
ਤਿਸੁ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਸਚੇ ਮੈ ਹੋਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥
This Baajhahu Sachae Mai Hor N Koee ||
तिसु बाझहु सचे मै होरु न कोई ॥
I know of no other except the True One.
ਜਿਸੁ ਲਾਇ ਲਏ ਸੋ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਈ ॥
Jis Laae Leae So Niramal Hoee ||
जिसु लाइ लए सो निरमलु होई ॥
Those, whom the Lord attaches to Himself, become pure.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਸੋ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੧੪॥੧੫॥
Naanak Naam Vasai Ghatt Anthar Jis Dhaevai So Paavaniaa ||8||14||15||
नानक नामु वसै घट अंतरि जिसु देवै सो पावणिआ ॥८॥१४॥१५॥
O Nanak, the Naam, the Name of the Lord, abides deep within the heart of those, unto whom He has given it. ||8||14||15||

Maajh, Third Mehl:
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥

अम्रित नामु मंनि वसाए ॥
Enshrining the Ambrosial Naam, the Name of the Lord, in the mind,
ਹਉਮੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਭੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਗਵਾਏ ॥
Houmai Maeraa Sabh Dhukh Gavaaeae ||
हउमै मेरा सभु दुखु गवाए ॥
All the pains of egotism, selfishness and conceit are eliminated.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਦਾ ਸਲਾਹੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥
Anmrith Baanee Sadhaa Salaahae Anmrith Anmrith Paavaniaa ||1||
अम्रित बाणी सदा सलाहे अम्रिति अम्रितु पावणिआ ॥१॥
By continually praising the Ambrosial Bani of the Word, I obtain the Amrit, the Ambrosial Nectar. ||1||
ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਣਿਆ ॥
Ho Vaaree Jeeo Vaaree Anmrith Baanee Mann Vasaavaniaa ||
हउ वारी जीउ वारी अम्रित बाणी मंनि वसावणिआ ॥
I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those who enshrine the Ambrosial Bani of the Word within their minds.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Anmrith Baanee Mann Vasaaeae Anmrith Naam Dhhiaavaniaa ||1|| Rehaao ||
अम्रित बाणी मंनि वसाए अम्रितु नामु धिआवणिआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Enshrining the Ambrosial Bani in their minds, they meditate on the Ambrosial Naam. ||1||Pause||
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਬੋਲੈ ਸਦਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਵੈਣੀ ॥
Anmrith Bolai Sadhaa Mukh Vainee ||
अम्रितु बोलै सदा मुखि वैणी ॥
Those who continually chant the Ambrosial Words of Nectar see
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਵੇਖੈ ਪਰਖੈ ਸਦਾ ਨੈਣੀ ॥
Anmrith Vaekhai Parakhai Sadhaa Nainee ||
अम्रितु वेखै परखै सदा नैणी ॥
And behold this Amrit everywhere with their eyes.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਕਥਾ ਕਹੈ ਸਦਾ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਅਵਰਾ ਆਖਿ ਸੁਨਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥
Anmrith Kathhaa Kehai Sadhaa Dhin Raathee Avaraa Aakh Sunaavaniaa ||2||
अम्रित कथा कहै सदा दिनु राती अवरा आखि सुनावणिआ ॥२॥
They continually chant the Ambrosial Sermon day and night; chanting it, they cause others to hear it. ||2||
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤਾ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ ॥
Anmrith Rang Rathaa Liv Laaeae ||
अम्रित रंगि रता लिव लाए ॥
Imbued with the Ambrosial Love of the Lord, they lovingly focus their attention on Him.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਪਾਏ ॥
Anmrith Gur Parasaadhee Paaeae ||
अम्रितु गुर परसादी पाए ॥
By Guru's Grace, they receive this Amrit.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਰਸਨਾ ਬੋਲੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਆਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥
Anmrith Rasanaa Bolai Dhin Raathee Man Than Anmrith Peeaavaniaa ||3||
अम्रितु रसना बोलै दिनु राती मनि तनि अम्रितु पीआवणिआ ॥३॥
They chant the Ambrosial Name with their tongues day and night; their minds and bodies are satisfied by this Amrit. ||3||
ਸੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੈ ਜੁ ਚਿਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥
So Kishh Karai J Chith N Hoee ||
सो किछु करै जु चिति न होई ॥
That which God does is beyond anyone's consciousness;
ਤਿਸ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਮੇਟਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਕੋਈ ॥
This Dhaa Hukam Maett N Sakai Koee ||
तिस दा हुकमु मेटि न सकै कोई ॥
No one can erase the Hukam of His Command.
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਵਰਤੈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਆਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥
Hukamae Varathai Anmrith Baanee Hukamae Anmrith Peeaavaniaa ||4||
हुकमे वरतै अम्रित बाणी हुकमे अम्रितु पीआवणिआ ॥४॥
By His Command, the Ambrosial Bani of the Word prevails, and by His Command, we drink in the Amrit. ||4||
ਅਜਬ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਕੇਰੇ ॥
Ajab Kanm Karathae Har Kaerae ||
अजब कम करते हरि केरे ॥
The actions of the Creator Lord are marvellous and wonderful.
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਭੂਲਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਫੇਰੇ ॥
Eihu Man Bhoolaa Jaandhaa Faerae ||
इहु मनु भूला जांदा फेरे ॥
This mind is deluded, and goes around the wheel of reincarnation.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਿਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਏ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਬਦਿ ਵਜਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥
Anmrith Baanee Sio Chith Laaeae Anmrith Sabadh Vajaavaniaa ||5||
अम्रित बाणी सिउ चितु लाए अम्रित सबदि वजावणिआ ॥५॥
Those who focus their consciousness on the Ambrosial Bani of the Word, hear the vibrations of the Ambrosial Word of the Shabad. ||5||
