गउड़ी महला ५ ॥
Gauree, Fifth Mehl:
ਕਰੈ ਦੁਹਕਰਮ ਦਿਖਾਵੈ ਹੋਰੁ ॥
Karai Dhuhakaram Dhikhaavai Hor ||
करै दुहकरम दिखावै होरु ॥
They do their evil deeds, and pretend otherwise;
ਰਾਮ ਕੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਬਾਧਾ ਚੋਰੁ ॥੧॥
Raam Kee Dharageh Baadhhaa Chor ||1||
राम की दरगह बाधा चोरु ॥१॥
But in the Court of the Lord, they shall be bound and gagged like thieves. ||1||
ਰਾਮੁ ਰਮੈ ਸੋਈ ਰਾਮਾਣਾ ॥
Raam Ramai Soee Raamaanaa ||
रामु रमै सोई रामाणा ॥
Those who remember the Lord belong to the Lord.
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਏਕੁ ਸਮਾਣਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Jal Thhal Meheeal Eaek Samaanaa ||1|| Rehaao ||
जलि थलि महीअलि एकु समाणा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
The One Lord is contained in the water, the land and the sky. ||1||Pause||
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਿਖੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸੁਣਾਵੈ ॥
Anthar Bikh Mukh Anmrith Sunaavai ||
अंतरि बिखु मुखि अम्रितु सुणावै ॥
Their inner beings are filled with poison, and yet with their mouths, they preach words of Ambrosial Nectar.
ਜਮ ਪੁਰਿ ਬਾਧਾ ਚੋਟਾ ਖਾਵੈ ॥੨॥
Jam Pur Baadhhaa Chottaa Khaavai ||2||
जम पुरि बाधा चोटा खावै ॥२॥
Bound and gagged in the City of Death, they are punished and beaten. ||2||
ਅਨਿਕ ਪੜਦੇ ਮਹਿ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਵਿਕਾਰ ॥
Anik Parradhae Mehi Kamaavai Vikaar ||
अनिक पड़दे महि कमावै विकार ॥
Hiding behind many screens, they commit acts of corruption,
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਹੋਹਿ ਸੰਸਾਰ ॥੩॥
Khin Mehi Pragatt Hohi Sansaar ||3||
खिन महि प्रगट होहि संसार ॥३॥
But in an instant, they are revealed to all the world. ||3||
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਾਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਸਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥
Anthar Saach Naam Ras Raathaa ||
अंतरि साचि नामि रसि राता ॥
Those whose inner beings are true, who are attuned to the ambrosial essence of the Naam, the Name of the Lord

राम रंगु कदे उतरि न जाइ ॥
The Lord's Love shall never leave or depart.
ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਦੇਇ ਬੁਝਾਇ ॥੧॥
Gur Pooraa Jis Dhaee Bujhaae ||1||
गुरु पूरा जिसु देइ बुझाइ ॥१॥
They alone understand, unto whom the Perfect Guru gives it. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ਸੋ ਮਨੁ ਸਾਚਾ ॥
Har Rang Raathaa So Man Saachaa ||
हरि रंगि राता सो मनु साचा ॥
Do not suffer pain, even in dreams. ||1||Pause||
ਲਾਲ ਰੰਗ ਪੂਰਨ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Laal Rang Pooran Purakh Bidhhaathaa ||1|| Rehaao ||
लाल रंग पूरन पुरखु बिधाता ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
The Love of the Beloved, the Architect of Destiny, is perfect. ||1||Pause||
ਸੰਤਹ ਸੰਗਿ ਬੈਸਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇ ॥
Santheh Sang Bais Gun Gaae ||
संतह संगि बैसि गुन गाइ ॥
Sitting in the Society of the Saints, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
ਤਾ ਕਾ ਰੰਗੁ ਨ ਉਤਰੈ ਜਾਇ ॥੨॥
Thaa Kaa Rang N Outharai Jaae ||2||
ता का रंगु न उतरै जाइ ॥२॥
The color of His Love shall never fade away. ||2||
ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
Bin Har Simaran Sukh Nehee Paaeiaa ||
बिनु हरि सिमरन सुखु नही पाइआ ॥
Without meditating in remembrance on the Lord, peace is not found.
ਆਨ ਰੰਗ ਫੀਕੇ ਸਭ ਮਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
Aan Rang Feekae Sabh Maaeiaa ||3||
आन रंग फीके सभ माइआ ॥३॥
All the other loves and tastes of Maya are bland and insipid. ||3||
ਗੁਰਿ ਰੰਗੇ ਸੇ ਭਏ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥
Gur Rangae Sae Bheae Nihaal ||
गुरि रंगे से भए निहाल ॥
Those who are imbued with love by the Guru become happy.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਭਏ ਹੈ ਦਇਆਲ ॥੪॥੭੨॥੧੪੧॥

Meditating in remembrance on the Lord Master, sinful mistakes are erased,
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਆਨੰਦ ਨਿਵਾਸੇ ॥੧॥
Sookh Sehaj Aanandh Nivaasae ||1||
सूख सहज आनंद निवासे ॥१॥
And one comes to abide in peace, celestial joy and bliss. ||1||
ਰਾਮ ਜਨਾ ਕਉ ਰਾਮ ਭਰੋਸਾ ॥
Raam Janaa Ko Raam Bharosaa ||
राम जना कउ राम भरोसा ॥
It alone shall be of use to your soul. ||1||Pause||
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਸਭੁ ਮਿਟਿਓ ਅੰਦੇਸਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Naam Japath Sabh Mittiou Andhaesaa ||1|| Rehaao ||
नामु जपत सभु मिटिओ अंदेसा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Chanting the Naam, the Name of the Lord, all anxieties are dispelled. ||1||Pause||
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਕਛੁ ਭਉ ਨ ਭਰਾਤੀ ॥
Saadhhasang Kashh Bho N Bharaathee ||
साधसंगि कछु भउ न भराती ॥
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, there is no fear or doubt.
ਗੁਣ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਗਾਈਅਹਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ॥੨॥
Gun Gopaal Gaaeeahi Dhin Raathee ||2||
गुण गोपाल गाईअहि दिनु राती ॥२॥
The Glorious Praises of the Lord are sung there, day and night. ||2||
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬੰਧਨ ਛੋਟ ॥
Kar Kirapaa Prabh Bandhhan Shhott ||
करि किरपा प्रभ बंधन छोट ॥
Granting His Grace, God has released me from bondage.
ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਕੀ ਦੀਨੀ ਓਟ ॥੩॥
Charan Kamal Kee Dheenee Outt ||3||
चरण कमल की दीनी ओट ॥३॥
He has given me the Support of His Lotus Feet. ||3||
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਿ ਭਈ ਪਰਤੀਤਿ ॥

कहु नानक मनि भई परतीति ॥
Says Nanak, faith comes into the mind of His servant,

हरि चरणी जा का मनु लागा ॥
I have enshrined the Lotus Feet of God within my heart.
ਦੂਖੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਭਾਗਾ ॥੧॥
Dhookh Dharadh Bhram Thaa Kaa Bhaagaa ||1||
दूखु दरदु भ्रमु ता का भागा ॥१॥
- pain, suffering and doubt run away from them. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਧਨ ਕੋ ਵਾਪਾਰੀ ਪੂਰਾ ॥
Har Dhhan Ko Vaapaaree Pooraa ||
हरि धन को वापारी पूरा ॥
Sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe, O my Siblings of Destiny.
ਜਿਸਹਿ ਨਿਵਾਜੇ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਸੂਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Jisehi Nivaajae So Jan Sooraa ||1|| Rehaao ||
जिसहि निवाजे सो जनु सूरा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Those who are honored by the Lord are the true spiritual heroes. ||1||Pause||
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਭਏ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਗੁਸਾਈ ॥
Jaa Ko Bheae Kirapaal Gusaaee ||
जा कउ भए क्रिपाल गुसाई ॥
Those humble beings, unto whom the Lord of the Universe shows mercy,
ਸੇ ਜਨ ਲਾਗੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਪਾਈ ॥੨॥
Sae Jan Laagae Gur Kee Paaee ||2||
से जन लागे गुर की पाई ॥२॥
When one receives the banner of the Naam from the True Guru. ||2||
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਆਨੰਦਾ ॥
Sookh Sehaj Saanth Aanandhaa ||
सूख सहज सांति आनंदा ॥
They are blessed with peace, celestial bliss, tranquility and ecstasy;
ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵੇ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦਾ ॥੩॥
Jap Jap Jeevae Paramaanandhaa ||3||
जपि जपि जीवे परमानंदा ॥३॥
Chanting and meditating, they live in supreme bliss. ||3||
ਨਾਮ ਰਾਸਿ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਿ ਖਾਟੀ ॥
Naam Raas Saadhh Sang Khaattee ||
नाम रासि साध संगि खाटी ॥
In the Saadh Sangat, I have earned the wealth of the Naam.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਪਦਾ ਕਾਟੀ ॥੪॥੭੪॥੧੪੩॥

उचरहु राम नामु लख बारी ॥
O Supreme Lord God, O Perfect Divine Guru,
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਵਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Anmrith Ras Peevahu Prabh Piaaree ||1|| Rehaao ||
अम्रित रसु पीवहु प्रभ पिआरी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
And drink deeply of the Ambrosial Essence of God. ||1||Pause||
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਰਸ ਮਹਾ ਅਨੰਦਾ ॥
Sookh Sehaj Ras Mehaa Anandhaa ||
सूख सहज रस महा अनंदा ॥
Peace, celestial bliss, pleasures and the greatest ecstasy are obtained;
ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵੇ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦਾ ॥੨॥
Jap Jap Jeevae Paramaanandhaa ||2||
जपि जपि जीवे परमानंदा ॥२॥
Chanting and meditating, you shall live in supreme bliss. ||2||
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਲੋਭ ਮਦ ਖੋਏ ॥
Kaam Krodhh Lobh Madh Khoeae ||
काम क्रोध लोभ मद खोए ॥
Sexual desire, anger, greed and ego are eradicated;
ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਸਭ ਧੋਏ ॥੩॥
Saadhh Kai Sang Kilabikh Sabh Dhhoeae ||3||
साध कै संगि किलबिख सभ धोए ॥३॥
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, all sinful mistakes are washed away. ||3||
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
Kar Kirapaa Prabh Dheen Dhaeiaalaa ||
करि किरपा प्रभ दीन दइआला ॥
Grant Your Grace, O God, O Merciful to the meek.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀਜੈ ਸਾਧ ਰਵਾਲਾ ॥੪॥੭੫॥੧੪੪॥
