ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਇਸੁ ਮਨਹਿ ਨਚਾਏ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਕਪਟੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥
Maaeiaa Mohu Eis Manehi Nachaaeae Anthar Kapatt Dhukh Paavaniaa ||4||
माइआ मोहु इसु मनहि नचाए अंतरि कपटु दुखु पावणिआ ॥४॥
The love of Maya makes this mind dance, and the deceit within makes people suffer in pain. ||4||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਜਾ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਾਏ ॥
Guramukh Bhagath Jaa Aap Karaaeae ||
गुरमुखि भगति जा आपि कराए ॥
When the Lord inspires one to become Gurmukh, and perform devotional worship,
ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥
Than Man Raathaa Sehaj Subhaaeae ||
तनु मनु राता सहजि सुभाए ॥
Then his body and mind are attuned to His Love with intuitive ease.
ਬਾਣੀ ਵਜੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵਜਾਏ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਥਾਇ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥
Baanee Vajai Sabadh Vajaaeae Guramukh Bhagath Thhaae Paavaniaa ||5||
बाणी वजै सबदि वजाए गुरमुखि भगति थाइ पावणिआ ॥५॥
The Word of His Bani vibrates, and the Word of His Shabad resounds, for the Gurmukh whose devotional worship is accepted. ||5||
ਬਹੁ ਤਾਲ ਪੂਰੇ ਵਾਜੇ ਵਜਾਏ ॥
Bahu Thaal Poorae Vaajae Vajaaeae ||
बहु ताल पूरे वाजे वजाए ॥
One may beat upon and play all sorts of instruments,
ਨਾ ਕੋ ਸੁਣੇ ਨ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥
Naa Ko Sunae N Mann Vasaaeae ||
ना को सुणे न मंनि वसाए ॥
But no one will listen, and no one will enshrine it in the mind.
ਮਾਇਆ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਪਿੜ ਬੰਧਿ ਨਾਚੈ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥
Maaeiaa Kaaran Pirr Bandhh Naachai Dhoojai Bhaae Dhukh Paavaniaa ||6||
माइआ कारणि पिड़ बंधि नाचै दूजै भाइ दुखु पावणिआ ॥६॥
For the sake of Maya, they set the stage and dance, but they are in love with duality, and they obtain only sorrow. ||6||
ਜਿਸੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਗੈ ਸੋ ਮੁਕਤਾ ॥
Jis Anthar Preeth Lagai So Mukathaa ||
जिसु अंतरि प्रीति लगै सो मुकता ॥
Those whose inner beings are attached to the Lord's Love are liberated.
ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀ ਵਸਿ ਸਚ ਸੰਜਮਿ ਜੁਗਤਾ ॥
Eindhree Vas Sach Sanjam Jugathaa ||
इंद्री वसि सच संजमि जुगता ॥
They control their sexual desires, and their lifestyle is the self-discipline of Truth.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਏ ਏਹਾ ਭਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥
Gur Kai Sabadh Sadhaa Har Dhhiaaeae Eaehaa Bhagath Har Bhaavaniaa ||7||
गुर कै सबदि सदा हरि धिआए एहा भगति हरि भावणिआ ॥७॥
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, they meditate forever on the Lord. This devotional worship is pleasing to the Lord. ||7|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਜੁਗ ਚਾਰੇ ਹੋਈ ॥
Guramukh Bhagath Jug Chaarae Hoee ||
गुरमुखि भगति जुग चारे होई ॥
To live as Gurmukh is devotional worship, throughout the four ages.
ਹੋਰਤੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਪਾਏ ਕੋਈ ॥
Horath Bhagath N Paaeae Koee ||
होरतु भगति न पाए कोई ॥
This devotional worship is not obtained by any other means.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਗੁਰ ਭਗਤੀ ਪਾਈਐ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੨੦॥੨੧॥
Naanak Naam Gur Bhagathee Paaeeai Gur Charanee Chith Laavaniaa ||8||20||21||
नानक नामु गुर भगती पाईऐ गुर चरणी चितु लावणिआ ॥८॥२०॥२१॥
O Nanak, the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is obtained only through devotion to the Guru. So focus your consciousness on the Guru's Feet. ||8||20||21||

माझ महला ३ ॥
Maajh, Third Mehl:
ਸਚਾ ਸੇਵੀ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ॥
Sachaa Saevee Sach Saalaahee ||
सचा सेवी सचु सालाही ॥
Serve the True One, and praise the True One.
ਸਚੈ ਨਾਇ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਬ ਹੀ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
Sachai Naae Dhukh Kab Hee Naahee ||
सचै नाइ दुखु कब ही नाही ॥
With the True Name, pain shall never afflict you.
ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਸੇਵਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਨਿ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥
Sukhadhaathaa Saevan Sukh Paaein Guramath Mann Vasaavaniaa ||1||
सुखदाता सेवनि सुखु पाइनि गुरमति मंनि वसावणिआ ॥१॥
Those who serve the Giver of peace find peace. They enshrine the Guru's Teachings within their minds. ||1||
ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਸੁਖ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਲਗਾਵਣਿਆ ॥
Ho Vaaree Jeeo Vaaree Sukh Sehaj Samaadhh Lagaavaniaa ||
हउ वारी जीउ वारी सुख सहजि समाधि लगावणिआ ॥
I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those who intuitively enter into the peace of Samaadhi.
ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸੇ ਸਦਾ ਸੋਹਹਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਸੁਹਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Jo Har Saevehi Sae Sadhaa Sohehi Sobhaa Surath Suhaavaniaa ||1|| Rehaao ||
जो हरि सेवहि से सदा सोहहि सोभा सुरति सुहावणिआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Those who serve the Lord are always beautiful. The glory of their intuitive awareness is beautiful. ||1||Pause||
ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਤੇਰਾ ਭਗਤੁ ਕਹਾਏ ॥
Sabh Ko Thaeraa Bhagath Kehaaeae ||
सभु को तेरा भगतु कहाए ॥
All call themselves Your devotees,
ਸੇਈ ਭਗਤ ਤੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਏ ॥
Saeee Bhagath Thaerai Man Bhaaeae ||
सेई भगत तेरै मनि भाए ॥
But they alone are Your devotees, who are pleasing to Your mind.
ਸਚੁ ਬਾਣੀ ਤੁਧੈ ਸਾਲਾਹਨਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥
Sach Baanee Thudhhai Saalaahan Rang Raathae Bhagath Karaavaniaa ||2||
सचु बाणी तुधै सालाहनि रंगि राते भगति करावणिआ ॥२॥
Through the True Word of Your Bani, they praise You; attuned to Your Love, they worship You with devotion. ||2||
ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਸਚੇ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਤੇਰਾ ॥
Sabh Ko Sachae Har Jeeo Thaeraa ||
सभु को सचे हरि जीउ तेरा ॥
All are Yours, O Dear True Lord.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਾ ਚੂਕੈ ਫੇਰਾ ॥
Guramukh Milai Thaa Chookai Faeraa ||
गुरमुखि मिलै ता चूकै फेरा ॥
Meeting the Gurmukh, this cycle of reincarnation comes to an end.
ਜਾ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਨਾਇ ਰਚਾਵਹਿ ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਨਾਉ ਜਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥
Jaa Thudhh Bhaavai Thaa Naae Rachaavehi Thoon Aapae Naao Japaavaniaa ||3||
जा तुधु भावै ता नाइ रचावहि तूं आपे नाउ जपावणिआ ॥३॥
When it pleases Your Will, then we merge in the Name. You Yourself inspire us to chant the Name. ||3||
ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਇਆ ॥
Guramathee Har Mann Vasaaeiaa ||
गुरमती हरि मंनि वसाइआ ॥
Through the Guru's Teachings, I enshrine the Lord within my mind.
ਹਰਖੁ ਸੋਗੁ ਸਭੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥
Harakh Sog Sabh Mohu Gavaaeiaa ||
हरखु सोगु सभु मोहु गवाइआ ॥
Pleasure and pain, and all emotional attachments are gone.
ਇਕਸੁ ਸਿਉ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੀ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥
Eikas Sio Liv Laagee Sadh Hee Har Naam Mann Vasaavaniaa ||4||
इकसु सिउ लिव लागी सद ही हरि नामु मंनि वसावणिआ ॥४॥
I am lovingly centered on the One Lord forever. I enshrine the Lord's Name within my mind. ||4||
ਭਗਤ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰੈ ਚਾਏ ॥
Bhagath Rang Raathae Sadhaa Thaerai Chaaeae ||
भगत रंगि राते सदा तेरै चाए ॥
Your devotees are attuned to Your Love; they are always joyful.
ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਆਏ ॥
No Nidhh Naam Vasiaa Man Aaeae ||
नउ निधि नामु वसिआ मनि आए ॥
The nine treasures of the Naam come to dwell within their minds.
ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਬਦੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥
Poorai Bhaag Sathigur Paaeiaa Sabadhae Mael Milaavaniaa ||5||
पूरै भागि सतिगुरु पाइआ सबदे मेलि मिलावणिआ ॥५॥
By perfect destiny, they find the True Guru, and through the Word of the Shabad, they are united in the Lord's Union. ||5||
ਤੂੰ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ॥
Thoon Dhaeiaal Sadhaa Sukhadhaathaa ||
तूं दइआलु सदा सुखदाता ॥
You are Merciful, and always the Giver of peace.
ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿਹਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਤਾ ॥
Thoon Aapae Maelihi Guramukh Jaathaa ||
तूं आपे मेलिहि गुरमुखि जाता ॥
You Yourself unite us; You are known only to the Gurmukhs.
ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਵਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਡਾਈ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥
Thoon Aapae Dhaevehi Naam Vaddaaee Naam Rathae Sukh Paavaniaa ||6||
तूं आपे देवहि नामु वडाई नामि रते सुखु पावणिआ ॥६॥
You Yourself bestow the glorious greatness of the Naam; attuned to the Naam, we find peace. ||6||
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਸਾਚੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ॥
Sadhaa Sadhaa Saachae Thudhh Saalaahee ||
सदा सदा साचे तुधु सालाही ॥
Forever and ever, O True Lord, I praise You.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਤਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੋ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
Guramukh Jaathaa Dhoojaa Ko Naahee ||
गुरमुखि जाता दूजा को नाही ॥
As Gurmukh, I know no other at all.
ਏਕਸੁ ਸਿਉ ਮਨੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਏ ਮਨਿ ਮੰਨਿਐ ਮਨਹਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥
Eaekas Sio Man Rehiaa Samaaeae Man Manniai Manehi Milaavaniaa ||7||
एकसु सिउ मनु रहिआ समाए मनि मंनिऐ मनहि मिलावणिआ ॥७॥
My mind remains immersed in the One Lord; my mind surrenders to Him, and in my mind I meet Him. ||7||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੋ ਸਾਲਾਹੇ ॥
Guramukh Hovai So Saalaahae ||
गुरमुखि होवै सो सालाहे ॥
One who becomes Gurmukh, praises the Lord.
ਸਾਚੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹੇ ॥
Saachae Thaakur Vaeparavaahae ||
साचे ठाकुर वेपरवाहे ॥
Our True Lord and Master is Carefree.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੨੧॥੨੨॥

नानक नामु वसै मन अंतरि गुर सबदी हरि मेलावणिआ ॥८॥२१॥२२॥

Your devotees look beautiful in the True Court.

Gur Kai Sabadh Naam Savaarae ||
गुर कै सबदि नामि सवारे ॥
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, they are adorned with the Naam.
ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦਿ ਰਹਹਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਗੁਣ ਕਹਿ ਗੁਣੀ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥
Sadhaa Anandh Rehehi Dhin Raathee Gun Kehi Gunee Samaavaniaa ||1||
सदा अनंदि रहहि दिनु राती गुण कहि गुणी समावणिआ ॥१॥
They are forever in bliss, day and night; chanting the Glorious Praises of the Lord, they merge with the Lord of Glory. ||1||
