By pre-ordained destiny, I have searched and found God.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਹਿ ਬਸੇ ਗੁਪਾਲ ॥
Saadhhasangath Mehi Basae Gupaal ||
साधसंगति महि बसे गुपाल ॥
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, the Lord of the World abides.
ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਆਏ ਤੁਮਰੈ ਦੁਆਰ ॥
Gur Mil Aaeae Thumarai Dhuaar ||
गुर मिलि आए तुमरै दुआर ॥
Meeting with the Guru, I have come to Your Door.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਹੁ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥੪॥੧॥

प्रभ की सेवा जन की सोभा ॥
Serving God, His humble servant is glorified.
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਮਿਟੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਲੋਭਾ ॥
Kaam Krodhh Mittae This Lobhaa ||
काम क्रोध मिटे तिसु लोभा ॥
Unfulfilled sexual desire, unresolved anger and unsatisfied greed are eradicated.
ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਜਨ ਕੈ ਭੰਡਾਰਿ ॥
Naam Thaeraa Jan Kai Bhanddaar ||
नामु तेरा जन कै भंडारि ॥
Your Name is the treasure of Your humble servant.
ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਰਸ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥੧॥

गुन गावहि प्रभ दरस पिआरि ॥१॥

Thumaree Bhagath Prabh Thumehi Janaaee ||
तुमरी भगति प्रभ तुमहि जनाई ॥
You are known, O God, by Your devotees.
ਕਾਟਿ ਜੇਵਰੀ ਜਨ ਲੀਏ ਛਡਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Kaatt Jaevaree Jan Leeeae Shhaddaaee ||1|| Rehaao ||
काटि जेवरी जन लीए छडाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Breaking their bonds, You emancipate them. ||1||Pause||
ਜੋ ਜਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਰੰਗਿ ॥
Jo Jan Raathaa Prabh Kai Rang ||
जो जनु राता प्रभ कै रंगि ॥
Those humble beings who are imbued with God's Love
ਤਿਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ॥
Thin Sukh Paaeiaa Prabh Kai Sang ||
तिनि सुखु पाइआ प्रभ कै संगि ॥
Find peace in God's Congregation.
ਜਿਸੁ ਰਸੁ ਆਇਆ ਸੋਈ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
Jis Ras Aaeiaa Soee Jaanai ||
जिसु रसु आइआ सोई जानै ॥
They alone understand this, to whom this subtle essence comes.
ਪੇਖਿ ਪੇਖਿ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਹੈਰਾਨੈ ॥੨॥
Paekh Paekh Man Mehi Hairaanai ||2||
पेखि पेखि मन महि हैरानै ॥२॥
Beholding it, and gazing upon it, in their minds they are wonderstruck. ||2||
ਸੋ ਸੁਖੀਆ ਸਭ ਤੇ ਊਤਮੁ ਸੋਇ ॥
So Sukheeaa Sabh Thae Ootham Soe ||
सो सुखीआ सभ ते ऊतमु सोइ ॥
They are at peace, the most exalted of all,
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਹ੍ਰਿਦੈ ਵਸਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਇ ॥
Jaa Kai Hridhai Vasiaa Prabh Soe ||
जा कै ह्रिदै वसिआ प्रभु सोइ ॥
Within whose hearts God dwells.
ਸੋਈ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਆਵੈ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
Soee Nihachal Aavai N Jaae ||
सोई निहचलु आवै न जाइ ॥
They are stable and unchanging; they do not come and go in reincarnation.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥੩॥
Anadhin Prabh Kae Har Gun Gaae ||3||
अनदिनु प्रभ के हरि गुण गाइ ॥३॥
Night and day, they sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord God. ||3||
ਤਾ ਕਉ ਕਰਹੁ ਸਗਲ ਨਮਸਕਾਰੁ ॥
Thaa Ko Karahu Sagal Namasakaar ||
ता कउ करहु सगल नमसकारु ॥
All bow down in humble respect to those
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਪੂਰਨੁ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ॥
Jaa Kai Man Pooran Nirankaar ||
जा कै मनि पूरनु निरंकारु ॥
Whose minds are filled with the Formless Lord.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਮੋਹਿ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਦੇਵਾ ॥
Kar Kirapaa Mohi Thaakur Dhaevaa ||
करि किरपा मोहि ठाकुर देवा ॥
Show mercy unto me, O my Divine Lord and Master.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਉਧਰੈ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ॥੪॥੨॥
Naanak Oudhharai Jan Kee Saevaa ||4||2||
नानकु उधरै जन की सेवा ॥४॥२॥
May Nanak be saved, by serving these humble beings. ||4||2||

ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਤ ਮਨਿ ਹੋਇ ਅਨੰਦ ॥

गुन गावत मनि होइ अनंद ॥
Singing His Glorious Praises, the mind is in ecstasy.
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਸਿਮਰਉ ਭਗਵੰਤ ॥
Aath Pehar Simaro Bhagavanth ||
आठ पहर सिमरउ भगवंत ॥
Twenty-four hours a day, I meditate in remembrance on God.
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਕਲਮਲ ਜਾਹਿ ॥
Jaa Kai Simaran Kalamal Jaahi ||
जा कै सिमरनि कलमल जाहि ॥
Remembering Him in meditation, the sins go away.
ਤਿਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਹਮ ਚਰਨੀ ਪਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
This Gur Kee Ham Charanee Paahi ||1||
तिसु गुर की हम चरनी पाहि ॥१॥
I fall at the Feet of that Guru. ||1||
ਸੁਮਤਿ ਦੇਵਹੁ ਸੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
Sumath Dhaevahu Santh Piaarae ||
सुमति देवहु संत पिआरे ॥
O beloved Saints, please bless me with wisdom;
ਸਿਮਰਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੋਹਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Simaro Naam Mohi Nisathaarae ||1|| Rehaao ||
सिमरउ नामु मोहि निसतारे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Let me meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and be emancipated. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਨਿ ਗੁਰਿ ਕਹਿਆ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਸੀਧਾ ॥
Jin Gur Kehiaa Maarag Seedhhaa ||
जिनि गुरि कहिआ मारगु सीधा ॥
The Guru has shown me the straight path;
ਸਗਲ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੀਧਾ ॥
Sagal Thiaag Naam Har Geedhhaa ||
सगल तिआगि नामि हरि गीधा ॥
I have abandoned everything else. I am enraptured with the Name of the Lord.
ਤਿਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਦਾ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈਐ ॥
This Gur Kai Sadhaa Bal Jaaeeai ||
तिसु गुर कै सदा बलि जाईऐ ॥
I am forever a sacrifice to that Guru;
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੨॥
Har Simaran Jis Gur Thae Paaeeai ||2||
हरि सिमरनु जिसु गुर ते पाईऐ ॥२॥
I meditate in remembrance on the Lord, through the Guru. ||2||
ਬੂਡਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਜਿਨਿ ਗੁਰਹਿ ਤਰਾਇਆ ॥
Booddath Praanee Jin Gurehi Tharaaeiaa ||
बूडत प्रानी जिनि गुरहि तराइआ ॥
The Guru carries those mortal beings across, and saves them from drowning.
ਜਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਮੋਹੈ ਨਹੀ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
Jis Prasaadh Mohai Nehee Maaeiaa ||
जिसु प्रसादि मोहै नही माइआ ॥
By His Grace, they are not enticed by Maya;
ਹਲਤੁ ਪਲਤੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਗੁਰਹਿ ਸਵਾਰਿਆ ॥
Halath Palath Jin Gurehi Savaariaa ||
हलतु पलतु जिनि गुरहि सवारिआ ॥
In this world and the next, they are embellished and exalted by the Guru.
ਤਿਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਊਪਰਿ ਸਦਾ ਹਉ ਵਾਰਿਆ ॥੩॥
This Gur Oopar Sadhaa Ho Vaariaa ||3||
तिसु गुर ऊपरि सदा हउ वारिआ ॥३॥
I am forever a sacrifice to that Guru. ||3||
ਮਹਾ ਮੁਗਧ ਤੇ ਕੀਆ ਗਿਆਨੀ ॥
Mehaa Mugadhh Thae Keeaa Giaanee ||
महा मुगध ते कीआ गिआनी ॥
From the most ignorant, I have been made spiritually wise,
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੀ ਅਕਥ ਕਹਾਨੀ ॥
Gur Poorae Kee Akathh Kehaanee ||
गुर पूरे की अकथ कहानी ॥
Through the Unspoken Speech of the Perfect Guru.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ॥
Paarabreham Naanak Guradhaev ||
पारब्रहम नानक गुरदेव ॥
The Divine Guru, O Nanak, is the Supreme Lord God.
ਵਡੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵ ॥੪॥੩॥
Vaddai Bhaag Paaeeai Har Saev ||4||3||
वडै भागि पाईऐ हरि सेव ॥४॥३॥
By great good fortune, I serve the Lord. ||4||3||

Sagalae Dhookh Mittae Sukh Dheeeae Apanaa Naam Japaaeiaa ||
सगले दूख मिटे सुख दीए अपना नामु जपाइआ ॥
Eradicating all my pains, He has blessed me with peace, and inspired me to chant His Name.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਅਪਨੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਏ ਸਗਲਾ ਦੁਰਤੁ ਮਿਟਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
Kar Kirapaa Apanee Saevaa Laaeae Sagalaa Dhurath Mittaaeiaa ||1||
करि किरपा अपनी सेवा लाए सगला दुरतु मिटाइआ ॥१॥
In His Mercy, He has enjoined me to His service, and has purged me of all my sins. ||1||
ਹਮ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਸਰਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਇਆਲ ॥
Ham Baarik Saran Prabh Dhaeiaal ||
हम बारिक सरनि प्रभ दइआल ॥
I am only a child; I seek the Sanctuary of God the Merciful.
ਅਵਗਣ ਕਾਟਿ ਕੀਏ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਰਾਖਿ ਲੀਏ ਮੇਰੈ ਗੁਰ ਗੋਪਾਲਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Avagan Kaatt Keeeae Prabh Apunae Raakh Leeeae Maerai Gur Gopaal ||1|| Rehaao ||
अवगण काटि कीए प्रभि अपुने राखि लीए मेरै गुर गोपालि ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Erasing my demerits and faults, God has made me His Own. My Guru, the Lord of the World, protects me. ||1||Pause||
ਤਾਪ ਪਾਪ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਖਿਨ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਭਏ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਗੁਸਾਈ ॥
Thaap Paap Binasae Khin Bheethar Bheae Kirapaal Gusaaee ||
ताप पाप बिनसे खिन भीतरि भए क्रिपाल गुसाई ॥
My sicknesses and sins were erased in an instant, when the Lord of the World became merciful.
ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਅਰਾਧੀ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੨॥
Saas Saas Paarabreham Araadhhee Apunae Sathigur Kai Bal Jaaee ||2||
सासि सासि पारब्रहमु अराधी अपुने सतिगुर कै बलि जाई ॥२॥
With each and very breath, I worship and adore the Supreme Lord God; I am a sacrifice to the True Guru. ||2||
ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਬਿਅੰਤੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
Agam Agochar Bianth Suaamee Thaa Kaa Anth N Paaeeai ||
अगम अगोचरु बिअंतु सुआमी ता का अंतु न पाईऐ ॥
My Lord and Master is Inaccessible, Unfathomable and Infinite. His limits cannot be found.
ਲਾਹਾ ਖਾਟਿ ਹੋਈਐ ਧਨਵੰਤਾ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥੩॥
Laahaa Khaatt Hoeeai Dhhanavanthaa Apunaa Prabhoo Dhhiaaeeai ||3||
लाहा खाटि होईऐ धनवंता अपुना प्रभू धिआईऐ ॥३॥
We earn the profit, and become wealthy, meditating on our God. ||3||
