Sabhanee Ghattee Sahu Vasai Seh Bin Ghatt N Koe ||
सभनी घटी सहु वसै सह बिनु घटु न कोइ ॥
God the Cosmic Husband dwells within all hearts; without Him, there is no heart at all.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੧੯॥

नानक ते सोहागणी जिन्हा गुरमुखि परगटु होइ ॥१९॥
O Nanak, the Gurmukhs are the happy, virtuous soul-brides; the Lord is revealed to them. ||19||

जउ तउ प्रेम खेलण का चाउ ॥
If you desire to play this game of love with Me,
ਸਿਰੁ ਧਰਿ ਤਲੀ ਗਲੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਆਉ ॥
Sir Dhhar Thalee Galee Maeree Aao ||
सिरु धरि तली गली मेरी आउ ॥
Then step onto My Path with your head in hand.
ਇਤੁ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਪੈਰੁ ਧਰੀਜੈ ॥
Eith Maarag Pair Dhhareejai ||
इतु मारगि पैरु धरीजै ॥
When you place your feet on this Path,
ਸਿਰੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਕਾਣਿ ਨ ਕੀਜੈ ॥੨੦॥
Sir Dheejai Kaan N Keejai ||20||
सिरु दीजै काणि न कीजै ॥२०॥
Give Me your head, and do not pay any attention to public opinion. ||20||
ਨਾਲਿ ਕਿਰਾੜਾ ਦੋਸਤੀ ਕੂੜੈ ਕੂੜੀ ਪਾਇ ॥
Naal Kiraarraa Dhosathee Koorrai Koorree Paae ||
नालि किराड़ा दोसती कूड़ै कूड़ी पाइ ॥
False is friendship with the false and greedy. False is its foundation.
ਮਰਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਪੈ ਮੂਲਿਆ ਆਵੈ ਕਿਤੈ ਥਾਇ ॥੨੧॥

मरणु न जापै मूलिआ आवै कितै थाइ ॥२१॥
O Moollah, no one knows where death shall strike. ||21||
ਗਿਆਨ ਹੀਣੰ ਅਗਿਆਨ ਪੂਜਾ ॥
Giaan Heenan Agiaan Poojaa ||
गिआन हीणं अगिआन पूजा ॥
Without spiritual wisdom, the people worship ignorance.
ਅੰਧ ਵਰਤਾਵਾ ਭਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ ॥੨੨॥
Andhh Varathaavaa Bhaao Dhoojaa ||22||
अंध वरतावा भाउ दूजा ॥२२॥
They grope in the darkness, in the love of duality. ||22||
ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਧਰਮ ਬਿਨੁ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥
Gur Bin Giaan Dhharam Bin Dhhiaan ||
गुर बिनु गिआनु धरम बिनु धिआनु ॥
Without the Guru, there is no spiritual wisdom; without Dharma, there is no meditation.
ਸਚ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਾਖੀ ਮੂਲੋ ਨ ਬਾਕੀ ॥੨੩॥
Sach Bin Saakhee Moolo N Baakee ||23||
सच बिनु साखी मूलो न बाकी ॥२३॥
Without Truth, there is no credit; without capital, there is no balance. ||23||
ਮਾਣੂ ਘਲੈ ਉਠੀ ਚਲੈ ॥
Maanoo Ghalai Outhee Chalai ||
माणू घलै उठी चलै ॥
The mortals are sent into the world; then, they arise and depart.
ਸਾਦੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਇਵੇਹੀ ਗਲੈ ॥੨੪॥
Saadh Naahee Eivaehee Galai ||24||
सादु नाही इवेही गलै ॥२४॥
There is no joy in this. ||24||
ਰਾਮੁ ਝੁਰੈ ਦਲ ਮੇਲਵੈ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਲੁ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ॥

रामु झुरै दल मेलवै अंतरि बलु अधिकार ॥
Raam Chand, sad at heart, assembled his army and forces.
ਬੰਤਰ ਕੀ ਸੈਨਾ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਜੁਝੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥
Banthar Kee Sainaa Saeveeai Man Than Jujh Apaar ||
बंतर की सैना सेवीऐ मनि तनि जुझु अपारु ॥
The army of monkeys was at his service; his mind and body became eager for war.
ਸੀਤਾ ਲੈ ਗਇਆ ਦਹਸਿਰੋ ਲਛਮਣੁ ਮੂਓ ਸਰਾਪਿ ॥
Seethaa Lai Gaeiaa Dhehasiro Lashhaman Mooou Saraap ||
सीता लै गइआ दहसिरो लछमणु मूओ सरापि ॥
Raawan captured his wife Sita, and Lachhman was cursed to die.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਰਤਾ ਕਰਣਹਾਰੁ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਥਾਪਿ ਉਥਾਪਿ ॥੨੫॥
Naanak Karathaa Karanehaar Kar Vaekhai Thhaap Outhhaap ||25||
नानक करता करणहारु करि वेखै थापि उथापि ॥२५॥
O Nanak, the Creator Lord is the Doer of all; He watches over all, and destroys what He has created. ||25||
ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਝੂਰੈ ਰਾਮਚੰਦੁ ਸੀਤਾ ਲਛਮਣ ਜੋਗੁ ॥

मन महि झूरै रामचंदु सीता लछमण जोगु ॥
In his mind, Raam Chand mourned for Sita and Lachhman.
ਹਣਵੰਤਰੁ ਆਰਾਧਿਆ ਆਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਸੰਜੋਗੁ ॥
Hanavanthar Aaraadhhiaa Aaeiaa Kar Sanjog ||
हणवंतरु आराधिआ आइआ करि संजोगु ॥
Then, he remembered Hanuman the monkey-god, who came to him.
ਭੂਲਾ ਦੈਤੁ ਨ ਸਮਝਈ ਤਿਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀਏ ਕਾਮ ॥
Bhoolaa Dhaith N Samajhee Thin Prabh Keeeae Kaam ||
भूला दैतु न समझई तिनि प्रभ कीए काम ॥
The misguided demon did not understand that God is the Doer of deeds.
ਨਾਨਕ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹੁ ਸੋ ਕਿਰਤੁ ਨ ਮਿਟਈ ਰਾਮ ॥੨੬॥

नानक वेपरवाहु सो किरतु न मिटई राम ॥२६॥
O Nanak, the actions of the Self-existent Lord cannot be erased. ||26||

लाहौर सहरु जहरु कहरु सवा पहरु ॥२७॥
The city of Lahore suffered terrible destruction for four hours. ||27||

उदोसाहै किआ नीसानी तोटि न आवै अंनी ॥
What are the signs of a prosperous person? His stores of food never run out.
ਉਦੋਸੀਅ ਘਰੇ ਹੀ ਵੁਠੀ ਕੁੜਿਈ ਰੰਨੀ ਧੰਮੀ ॥
Oudhoseea Gharae Hee Vuthee Kurrieanaee Rannee Dhhanmee ||
उदोसीअ घरे ही वुठी कुड़िईं रंनी धमी ॥
Prosperity dwells in his home, with the sounds of girls and women.
ਸਤੀ ਰੰਨੀ ਘਰੇ ਸਿਆਪਾ ਰੋਵਨਿ ਕੂੜੀ ਕੰਮੀ ॥
Sathee Rannee Gharae Siaapaa Rovan Koorree Kanmee ||
सती रंनी घरे सिआपा रोवनि कूड़ी कमी ॥
All the women of his home shout and cry over useless things.
ਜੋ ਲੇਵੈ ਸੋ ਦੇਵੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਖਟੇ ਦੰਮ ਸਹੰਮੀ ॥੨੯॥
Jo Laevai So Dhaevai Naahee Khattae Dhanm Sehanmee ||29||
जो लेवै सो देवै नाही खटे दम सहमी ॥२९॥
Whatever he takes, he does not give back. Seeking to earn more and more, he is troubled and uneasy. ||29||
ਪਬਰ ਤੂੰ ਹਰੀਆਵਲਾ ਕਵਲਾ ਕੰਚਨ ਵੰਨਿ ॥
Pabar Thoon Hareeaavalaa Kavalaa Kanchan Vann ||
पबर तूं हरीआवला कवला कंचन वंनि ॥
O lotus, your leaves were green, and your blossoms were gold.
ਕੈ ਦੋਖੜੈ ਸੜਿਓਹਿ ਕਾਲੀ ਹੋਈਆ ਦੇਹੁਰੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਮੈ ਤਨਿ ਭੰਗੁ ॥
Kai Dhokharrai Sarriouhi Kaalee Hoeeaa Dhaehuree Naanak Mai Than Bhang ||
कै दोखड़ै सड़िओहि काली होईआ देहुरी नानक मै तनि भंगु ॥
What pain has burnt you, and made your body black? O Nanak, my body is battered.
ਜਾਣਾ ਪਾਣੀ ਨਾ ਲਹਾਂ ਜੈ ਸੇਤੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੰਗੁ ॥
Jaanaa Paanee Naa Lehaan Jai Saethee Maeraa Sang ||
जाणा पाणी ना लहां जै सेती मेरा संगु ॥
I have not received that water which I love.
ਜਿਤੁ ਡਿਠੈ ਤਨੁ ਪਰਫੁੜੈ ਚੜੈ ਚਵਗਣਿ ਵੰਨੁ ॥੩੦॥
Jith Ddithai Than Parafurrai Charrai Chavagan Vann ||30||
जितु डिठै तनु परफुड़ै चड़ै चवगणि वंनु ॥३०॥
Seeing it, my body blossomed forth, and I was blessed with a deep and beautiful color. ||30||
ਰਜਿ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਜੀਵਿਆ ਪਹੁਚਿ ਨ ਚਲਿਆ ਕੋਇ ॥
Raj N Koee Jeeviaa Pahuch N Chaliaa Koe ||
रजि न कोई जीविआ पहुचि न चलिआ कोइ ॥
No one lives long enough to accomplish all he wishes.
ਗਿਆਨੀ ਜੀਵੈ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਰਤੀ ਹੀ ਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
Giaanee Jeevai Sadhaa Sadhaa Surathee Hee Path Hoe ||
गिआनी जीवै सदा सदा सुरती ही पति होइ ॥
Only the spiritually wise live forever; they are honored for their intuitive awareness.
ਸਰਫੈ ਸਰਫੈ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਏਵੈ ਗਈ ਵਿਹਾਇ ॥
Sarafai Sarafai Sadhaa Sadhaa Eaevai Gee Vihaae ||
सरफै सरफै सदा सदा एवै गई विहाइ ॥
Bit by bit, life passes away, even though the mortal tries to hold it back.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਖੀਐ ਵਿਣੁ ਪੁਛਿਆ ਹੀ ਲੈ ਜਾਇ ॥੩੧॥
Naanak Kis No Aakheeai Vin Pushhiaa Hee Lai Jaae ||31||
नानक किस नो आखीऐ विणु पुछिआ ही लै जाइ ॥३१॥
O Nanak, unto whom should we complain? Death takes one's life away without anyone's consent. ||31||
ਦੋਸੁ ਨ ਦੇਅਹੁ ਰਾਇ ਨੋ ਮਤਿ ਚਲੈ ਜਾਂ ਬੁਢਾ ਹੋਵੈ ॥
Dhos N Dhaeahu Raae No Math Chalai Jaan Budtaa Hovai ||
दोसु न देअहु राइ नो मति चलै जां बुढा होवै ॥
Do not blame the Sovereign Lord; when someone grows old, his intellect leaves him.
ਗਲਾਂ ਕਰੇ ਘਣੇਰੀਆ ਤਾਂ ਅੰਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੇ ਪਵਣਾ ਖਾਤੀ ਟੋਵੈ ॥੩੨॥
Galaan Karae Ghanaereeaa Thaan Annhae Pavanaa Khaathee Ttovai ||32||
गलां करे घणेरीआ तां अंन्हे पवणा खाती टोवै ॥३२॥
The blind man talks and babbles, and then falls into the ditch. ||32||
ਪੂਰੇ ਕਾ ਕੀਆ ਸਭ ਕਿਛੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਘਟਿ ਵਧਿ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
Poorae Kaa Keeaa Sabh Kishh Pooraa Ghatt Vadhh Kishh Naahee ||
पूरे का कीआ सभ किछु पूरा घटि वधि किछु नाही ॥
All that the Perfect Lord does is perfect; there is not too little, or too much.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਐਸਾ ਜਾਣੈ ਪੂਰੇ ਮਾਂਹਿ ਸਮਾਂਹੀ ॥੩੩॥
Naanak Guramukh Aisaa Jaanai Poorae Maanhi Samaanhee ||33||
नानक गुरमुखि ऐसा जाणै पूरे मांहि समांही ॥३३॥
O Nanak, knowing this as Gurmukh, the mortal merges into the Perfect Lord God. ||33||
