घटि घटि बसंत बासुदेवह पारब्रहम परमेसुरह ॥
The Supreme Lord God, the Transcendent, Luminous Lord, dwells in each and every heart.
ਜਾਚੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦੰ ਨਹ ਬਿਸਰੰਤਿ ਨਹ ਬਿਸਰੰਤਿ ਨਾਰਾਇਣਹ ॥੨੧॥
Jaachanth Naanak Kirapaal Prasaadhan Neh Bisaranth Neh Bisaranth Naaraaeineh ||21||
जाचंति नानक क्रिपाल प्रसादं नह बिसरंति नह बिसरंति नाराइणह ॥२१॥
Nanak begs for this blessing from the Merciful Lord, that he may never forget Him, never forget Him. ||21||

नह समरथं नह सेवकं नह प्रीति परम पुरखोतमं ॥
I have no power; I do not serve You, and I do not love You, O Supreme Sublime Lord God.

ਭਰਣ ਪੋਖਣ ਕਰੰਤ ਜੀਆ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮ ਛਾਦਨ ਦੇਵੰਤ ਦਾਨੰ ॥
Bharan Pokhan Karanth Jeeaa Bisraam Shhaadhan Dhaevanth Dhaanan ||
भरण पोखण करंत जीआ बिस्राम छादन देवंत दानं ॥
The Lord feeds and sustains all living beings; He blesses them gifts of restful peace and fine clothes.
ਸ੍ਰਿਜੰਤ ਰਤਨ ਜਨਮ ਚਤੁਰ ਚੇਤਨਹ ॥
Srijanth Rathan Janam Chathur Chaethaneh ||
स्रिजंत रतन जनम चतुर चेतनह ॥
He created the jewel of human life, with all its cleverness and intelligence.
ਵਰਤੰਤਿ ਸੁਖ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਹ ॥

वरतंति सुख आनंद प्रसादह ॥
By His Grace, mortals abide in peace and bliss.

अनित्य रचना निरमोह ते ॥२३॥
The mortal is released from attachment to the world. ||23||
ਦਾਨੰ ਪਰਾ ਪੂਰਬੇਣ ਭੁੰਚੰਤੇ ਮਹੀਪਤੇ ॥
Dhaanan Paraa Poorabaen Bhunchanthae Meheepathae ||
दानं परा पूरबेण भुंचंते महीपते ॥
The kings of the earth are eating up the blessings of the good karma of their past lives.
ਬਿਪਰੀਤ ਬੁਧ੍ਯ੍ਯੰ ਮਾਰਤ ਲੋਕਹ ਨਾਨਕ ਚਿਰੰਕਾਲ ਦੁਖ ਭੋਗਤੇ ॥੨੪॥
Bipareeth Budhhyan Maarath Lokeh Naanak Chirankaal Dhukh Bhogathae ||24||
बिपरीत बुध्यं मारत लोकह नानक चिरंकाल दुख भोगते ॥२४॥
Those cruel-minded rulers who oppress the people, O Nanak, shall suffer in pain for a very long time. ||24||
ਬ੍ਰਿਥਾ ਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹੰ ਗੋਬਿੰਦਹ ਜਸ੍ਯ੍ਯ ਸਿਮਰਣ ਰਿਦੰਤਰਹ ॥
Brithhaa Anugrehan Gobindheh Jasy Simaran Ridhanthareh ||
ब्रिथा अनुग्रहं गोबिंदह जस्य सिमरण रिदंतरह ॥
Those who meditate in remembrance on the Lord in their hearts, look upon even pain as God's Grace.
ਆਰੋਗ੍ਯ੍ਯੰ ਮਹਾ ਰੋਗ੍ਯ੍ਯੰ ਬਿਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤੇ ਕਰੁਣਾ ਮਯਹ ॥੨੫॥
Aarogyan Mehaa Rogyan Bisimrithae Karunaa Mayeh ||25||
आरोग्यं महा रोग्यं बिसिम्रिते करुणा मयह ॥२५॥
The healthy person is very sick, if he does not remember the Lord, the Embodiment of Mercy. ||25||
ਰਮਣੰ ਕੇਵਲੰ ਕੀਰਤਨੰ ਸੁਧਰਮੰ ਦੇਹ ਧਾਰਣਹ ॥
Ramanan Kaevalan Keerathanan Sudhharaman Dhaeh Dhhaaraneh ||
रमणं केवलं कीरतनं सुधरमं देह धारणह ॥
To sing the Kirtan of God's Praises is the righteous duty incurred by taking birth in this human body.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਨਾਨਕ ਪੀਵਤੰ ਸੰਤ ਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਪ੍ਯ੍ਯਤੇ ॥੨੬॥
Anmrith Naam Naaraaein Naanak Peevathan Santh N Thripyathae ||26||
अम्रित नामु नाराइण नानक पीवतं संत न त्रिप्यते ॥२६॥
The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is Ambrosial Nectar, O Nanak. The Saints drink it in, and never have enough of it. ||26||
ਸਹਣ ਸੀਲ ਸੰਤੰ ਸਮ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਸ੍ਯ੍ਯ ਦੁਰਜਨਹ ॥
Sehan Seel Santhan Sam Mithrasy Dhurajaneh ||
सहण सील संतं सम मित्रस्य दुरजनह ॥
The Saints are tolerant and good-natured; friends and enemies are the same to them.
ਨਾਨਕ ਭੋਜਨ ਅਨਿਕ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰੇਣ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਆਵਧ ਹੋਇ ਉਪਤਿਸਟਤੇ ॥੨੭॥
Naanak Bhojan Anik Prakaaraen Nindhak Aavadhh Hoe Oupathisattathae ||27||
नानक भोजन अनिक प्रकारेण निंदक आवध होइ उपतिसटते ॥२७॥
O Nanak, it is all the same to them, whether someone offers them all sorts of foods, or slanders them, or draws weapons to kill them. ||27||
ਤਿਰਸਕਾਰ ਨਹ ਭਵੰਤਿ ਨਹ ਭਵੰਤਿ ਮਾਨ ਭੰਗਨਹ ॥
Thirasakaar Neh Bhavanth Neh Bhavanth Maan Bhanganeh ||
तिरसकार नह भवंति नह भवंति मान भंगनह ॥
They pay no attention to dishonor or disrespect.
ਸੋਭਾ ਹੀਨ ਨਹ ਭਵੰਤਿ ਨਹ ਪੋਹੰਤਿ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੁਖਨਹ ॥
Sobhaa Heen Neh Bhavanth Neh Pohanth Sansaar Dhukhaneh ||
सोभा हीन नह भवंति नह पोहंति संसार दुखनह ॥
They are not bothered by gossip; the miseries of the world do not touch them.
ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨਾਮ ਜਪੰਤਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਹ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਸੁਖ ਬਾਸਨਹ ॥੨੮॥
Gobindh Naam Japanth Mil Saadhh Sangeh Naanak Sae Praanee Sukh Baasaneh ||28||
गोबिंद नाम जपंति मिलि साध संगह नानक से प्राणी सुख बासनह ॥२८॥
Those who join the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, and chant the Name of the Lord of the Universe - O Nanak, those mortals abide in peace. ||28||
ਸੈਨਾ ਸਾਧ ਸਮੂਹ ਸੂਰ ਅਜਿਤੰ ਸੰਨਾਹੰ ਤਨਿ ਨਿੰਮ੍ਰਤਾਹ ॥
Sainaa Saadhh Samooh Soor Ajithan Sannaahan Than Ninmrathaah ||
सैना साध समूह सूर अजितं संनाहं तनि निम्रताह ॥
The Holy people are an invincible army of spiritual warriors; their bodies are protected by the armor of humility.
ਆਵਧਹ ਗੁਣ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਰਮਣੰ ਓਟ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦ ਕਰ ਚਰਮਣਹ ॥
Aavadhheh Gun Gobindh Ramanan Outt Gur Sabadh Kar Charamaneh ||
आवधह गुण गोबिंद रमणं ओट गुर सबद कर चरमणह ॥
Their weapons are the Glorious Praises of the Lord which they chant; their Shelter and Shield is the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਆਰੂੜਤੇ ਅਸ੍ਵ ਰਥ ਨਾਗਹ ਬੁਝੰਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਾਰਗਹ ॥
Aaroorrathae Asv Rathh Naageh Bujhanthae Prabh Maarageh ||
आरूड़ते अस्व रथ नागह बुझंते प्रभ मारगह ॥
The horses, chariots and elephants they ride are their way to realize God's Path.
ਬਿਚਰਤੇ ਨਿਰਭਯੰ ਸਤ੍ਰੁ ਸੈਨਾ ਧਾਯੰਤੇ ਗਪਾਲ ਕੀਰਤਨਹ ॥
Bicharathae Nirabhayan Sathra Sainaa Dhhaayanthae Guopaal Keerathaneh ||
बिचरते निरभयं सत्रु सैना धायंते गोपाल कीरतनह ॥
They walk fearlessly through the armies of their enemies; they attack them with the Kirtan of God's Praises.
ਜਿਤਤੇ ਬਿਸ੍ਵ ਸੰਸਾਰਹ ਨਾਨਕ ਵਸ੍ਯ੍ਯੰ ਕਰੋਤਿ ਪੰਚ ਤਸਕਰਹ ॥੨੯॥
Jithathae Bisv Sansaareh Naanak Vasyan Karoth Panch Thasakareh ||29||
जितते बिस्व संसारह नानक वस्यं करोति पंच तसकरह ॥२९॥
They conquer the entire world, O Nanak, and overpower the five thieves. ||29||
ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਗੰਧਰਬ ਨਗਰੰ ਦ੍ਰੁਮ ਛਾਯਾ ਰਚਿ ਦੁਰਮਤਿਹ ॥
Mrig Thrisanaa Gandhharab Nagaran Dhraam Shhaayaa Rach Dhuramathih ||
म्रिग त्रिसना गंधरब नगरं द्रुम छाया रचि दुरमतिह ॥
Misled by evil-mindedness, mortals are engrossed in the mirage of the illusory world, like the passing shade of a tree.
ਤਤਹ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਮੋਹ ਮਿਥ੍ਯ੍ਯਾ ਸਿਮਰੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਹ ॥੩੦॥
Thatheh Kuttanb Moh Mithhyaa Simaranth Naanak Raam Raam Naameh ||30||
ततह कुट्मब मोह मिथ्या सिमरंति नानक राम राम नामह ॥३०॥
Emotional attachment to family is false, so Nanak meditates in remembrance on the Name of the Lord, Raam, Raam. ||30||
ਨਚ ਬਿਦਿਆ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਨਿਗਮੰ ਨਚ ਗੁਣਗ੍ਯ੍ਯ ਨਾਮ ਕੀਰਤਨਹ ॥
Nach Bidhiaa Nidhhaan Nigaman Nach Gunagy Naam Keerathaneh ||
नच बिदिआ निधान निगमं नच गुणग्य नाम कीरतनह ॥
I do not possess the treasure of the wisdom of the Vedas, nor do I possess the merits of the Praises of the Naam.
ਨਚ ਰਾਗ ਰਤਨ ਕੰਠੰ ਨਹ ਚੰਚਲ ਚਤੁਰ ਚਾਤੁਰਹ ॥
Nach Raag Rathan Kanthan Neh Chanchal Chathur Chaathureh ||
नच राग रतन कंठं नह चंचल चतुर चातुरह ॥
I do not have a beautiful voice to sing jewelled melodies; I am not clever, wise or shrewd.
ਭਾਗ ਉਦਿਮ ਲਬਧ੍ਯ੍ਯੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਖਲ ਪੰਡਿਤਹ ॥੩੧॥
Bhaag Oudhim Labadhhyan Maaeiaa Naanak Saadhhasang Khal Pandditheh ||31||
भाग उदिम लबध्यं माइआ नानक साधसंगि खल पंडितह ॥३१॥
By destiny and hard work, the wealth of Maya is obtained. O Nanak, in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, even fools become religious scholars. ||31||
ਕੰਠ ਰਮਣੀਯ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਮਾਲਾ ਹਸਤ ਊਚ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਧਾਰਣੀ ॥
Kanth Ramaneey Raam Raam Maalaa Hasath Ooch Praem Dhhaaranee ||
कंठ रमणीय राम राम माला हसत ऊच प्रेम धारणी ॥
The mala around my neck is the chanting of the Lord's Name. The Love of the Lord is my silent chanting.
ਜੀਹ ਭਣਿ ਜੋ ਉਤਮ ਸਲੋਕ ਉਧਰਣੰ ਨੈਨ ਨੰਦਨੀ ॥੩੨॥

जीह भणि जो उतम सलोक उधरणं नैन नंदनी ॥३२॥
Chanting this most Sublime Word brings salvation and joy to the eyes. ||32||
ਗੁਰ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਹੀਣਸ੍ਯ੍ਯ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੰਤ ਜਨਮ ਭ੍ਰਸਟਣਹ ॥
Gur Manthr Heenasy Jo Praanee Dhhriganth Janam Bhrasattaneh ||
गुर मंत्र हीणस्य जो प्राणी ध्रिगंत जनम भ्रसटणह ॥
That mortal who lacks the Guru's Mantra - cursed and contaminated is his life.
ਕੂਕਰਹ ਸੂਕਰਹ ਗਰਧਭਹ ਕਾਕਹ ਸਰਪਨਹ ਤੁਲਿ ਖਲਹ ॥੩੩॥
Kookareh Sookareh Garadhhabheh Kaakeh Sarapaneh Thul Khaleh ||33||
कूकरह सूकरह गरधभह काकह सरपनह तुलि खलह ॥३३॥
That blockhead is just a dog, a pig, a jackass, a crow, a snake. ||33||
ਚਰਣਾਰਬਿੰਦ ਭਜਨੰ ਰਿਦਯੰ ਨਾਮ ਧਾਰਣਹ ॥
Charanaarabindh Bhajanan Ridhayan Naam Dhhaaraneh ||
