ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਨ ਚੁਕਈ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਵਾਰੋ ਵਾਰ ॥
Maaeiaa Mohu N Chukee Mar Janmehi Vaaro Vaar ||
माइआ मोहु न चुकई मरि जमहि वारो वार ॥
Their attachment to Maya does not cease; they die, only to be reborn, over and over again.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਅਤਿ ਤਿਸਨਾ ਤਜਿ ਵਿਕਾਰ ॥
Sathigur Saev Sukh Paaeiaa Ath Thisanaa Thaj Vikaar ||
सतिगुरु सेवि सुखु पाइआ अति तिसना तजि विकार ॥
Serving the True Guru, peace is found; intense desire and corruption are discarded.
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਕਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਗਇਆ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਬਦੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ॥੪੯॥
Janam Maran Kaa Dhukh Gaeiaa Jan Naanak Sabadh Beechaar ||49||
जनम मरन का दुखु गइआ जन नानक सबदु बीचारि ॥४९॥
The pains of death and birth are taken away; servant Nanak reflects upon the Word of the Shabad. ||49||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਮਾਨੁ ॥
Har Har Naam Dhhiaae Man Har Dharageh Paavehi Maan ||
हरि हरि नामु धिआइ मन हरि दरगह पावहि मानु ॥
Meditate on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, O mortal being, and you shall be honored in the Court of the Lord.
ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਪਾਪ ਸਭਿ ਕਟੀਅਹਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਚੁਕੈ ਗੁਮਾਨੁ ॥
Kilavikh Paap Sabh Katteeahi Houmai Chukai Gumaan ||
किलविख पाप सभि कटीअहि हउमै चुकै गुमानु ॥
All your sins and terrible mistakes shall be taken away, and you shall be rid of your pride and egotism.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕਮਲੁ ਵਿਗਸਿਆ ਸਭੁ ਆਤਮ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਛਾਨੁ ॥
Guramukh Kamal Vigasiaa Sabh Aatham Breham Pashhaan ||
गुरमुखि कमलु विगसिआ सभु आतम ब्रहमु पछानु ॥
The heart-lotus of the Gurmukh blossoms forth, realizing God, the Soul of all.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੫੦॥
Har Har Kirapaa Dhhaar Prabh Jan Naanak Jap Har Naam ||50||
हरि हरि किरपा धारि प्रभ जन नानक जपि हरि नामु ॥५०॥
O Lord God, please shower Your Mercy upon servant Nanak, that he may chant the Name of the Lord. ||50||
ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਧਨਵੰਤੀ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਜਾਂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
Dhhanaasaree Dhhanavanthee Jaaneeai Bhaaee Jaan Sathigur Kee Kaar Kamaae ||
धनासरी धनवंती जाणीऐ भाई जां सतिगुर की कार कमाइ ॥
In Dhanaasaree, the soul-bride is known to be wealthy, O Siblings of Destiny, when she works for the True Guru.
ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਸਉਪੇ ਜੀਅ ਸਉ ਭਾਈ ਲਏ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਫਿਰਾਉ ॥
Than Man Soupae Jeea So Bhaaee Leae Hukam Firaao ||
तनु मनु सउपे जीअ सउ भाई लए हुकमि फिराउ ॥
She surrenders her body, mind and soul, O Siblings of Destiny, and lives according to the Hukam of His Command.
ਜਹ ਬੈਸਾਵਹਿ ਬੈਸਹ ਭਾਈ ਜਹ ਭੇਜਹਿ ਤਹ ਜਾਉ ॥
Jeh Baisaavehi Baiseh Bhaaee Jeh Bhaejehi Theh Jaao ||
जह बैसावहि बैसह भाई जह भेजहि तह जाउ ॥
I sit where He wishes me to sit, O Siblings of Destiny; wherever He sends me, I go.
ਏਵਡੁ ਧਨੁ ਹੋਰੁ ਕੋ ਨਹੀ ਭਾਈ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਸਚਾ ਨਾਉ ॥
Eaevadd Dhhan Hor Ko Nehee Bhaaee Jaevadd Sachaa Naao ||
एवडु धनु होरु को नही भाई जेवडु सचा नाउ ॥
There is no other wealth as great, O Siblings of Destiny; such is the greatness of the True Name.
ਸਦਾ ਸਚੇ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾਂ ਭਾਈ ਸਦਾ ਸਚੇ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Sadhaa Sachae Kae Gun Gaavaan Bhaaee Sadhaa Sachae Kai Sang Rehaao ||
सदा सचे के गुण गावां भाई सदा सचे कै संगि रहाउ ॥
I sing forever the Glorious Praises of the True Lord; I shall remain with the True One forever.
ਪੈਨਣੁ ਗੁਣ ਚੰਗਿਆਈਆ ਭਾਈ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਤਿ ਕੇ ਸਾਦ ਆਪੇ ਖਾਇ ॥
Painan Gun Changiaaeeaa Bhaaee Aapanee Path Kae Saadh Aapae Khaae ||
पैनणु गुण चंगिआईआ भाई आपणी पति के साद आपे खाइ ॥
So wear the clothes of His Glorious Virtues and goodness, O Siblings of Destiny; eat and enjoy the flavor of your own honor.
ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਕਿਆ ਸਾਲਾਹੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਉ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
This Kaa Kiaa Saalaaheeai Bhaaee Dharasan Ko Bal Jaae ||
तिस का किआ सालाहीऐ भाई दरसन कउ बलि जाइ ॥
How can I praise Him, O Siblings of Destiny? I am a sacrifice to the Blessed Vision of His Darshan.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਵਿਚਿ ਵਡੀਆ ਵਡਿਆਈਆ ਭਾਈ ਕਰਮਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਾਂ ਪਾਇ ॥
Sathigur Vich Vaddeeaa Vaddiaaeeaa Bhaaee Karam Milai Thaan Paae ||
सतिगुर विचि वडीआ वडिआईआ भाई करमि मिलै तां पाइ ॥
Great is the Glorious Greatness of the True Guru, O Siblings of Destiny; if one is blessed with good karma, He is found.
ਇਕਿ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਨ ਜਾਣਨੀ ਭਾਈ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਫਿਰਾਇ ॥
Eik Hukam Mann N Jaananee Bhaaee Dhoojai Bhaae Firaae ||
इकि हुकमु मंनि न जाणनी भाई दूजै भाइ फिराइ ॥
Some do not know how to submit to the Hukam of His Command, O Siblings of Destiny; they wander around lost in the love of duality.
ਸੰਗਤਿ ਢੋਈ ਨਾ ਮਿਲੈ ਭਾਈ ਬੈਸਣਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਨ ਥਾਉ ॥
Sangath Dtoee Naa Milai Bhaaee Baisan Milai N Thhaao ||
संगति ढोई ना मिलै भाई बैसणि मिलै न थाउ ॥
They find no place of rest in the Sangat, O Siblings of Destiny; they find no place to sit.
ਨਾਨਕ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਤਿਨਾ ਮਨਾਇਸੀ ਭਾਈ ਜਿਨਾ ਧੁਰੇ ਕਮਾਇਆ ਨਾਉ ॥
Naanak Hukam Thinaa Manaaeisee Bhaaee Jinaa Dhhurae Kamaaeiaa Naao ||
नानक हुकमु तिना मनाइसी भाई जिना धुरे कमाइआ नाउ ॥
Nanak: they alone submit to His Command, O Siblings of Destiny, who are pre-destined to live the Name.
ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਹਉ ਵਾਰਿਆ ਭਾਈ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਉ ॥੫੧॥
Thinh Vittahu Ho Vaariaa Bhaaee Thin Ko Sadh Balihaarai Jaao ||51||
तिन्ह विटहु हउ वारिआ भाई तिन कउ सद बलिहारै जाउ ॥५१॥
I am a sacrifice to them, O Siblings of Destiny, I am forever a sacrifice to them. ||51||
ਸੇ ਦਾੜੀਆਂ ਸਚੀਆ ਜਿ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਨੀ ਲਗੰਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ॥
Sae Dhaarreeaaan Sacheeaa J Gur Charanee Lagannih ||
से दाड़ीआं सचीआ जि गुर चरनी लगंन्हि ॥
Those beards are true, which brush the feet of the True Guru.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸੇਵਨਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਅਨਦਿ ਰਹੰਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ॥
Anadhin Saevan Gur Aapanaa Anadhin Anadh Rehannih ||
अनदिनु सेवनि गुरु आपणा अनदिनु अनदि रहंन्हि ॥
Those who serve their Guru night and day, live in bliss, night and day.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇ ਮੁਹ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਸਚੈ ਦਰਿ ਦਿਸੰਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ॥੫੨॥
Naanak Sae Muh Sohanae Sachai Dhar Dhisannih ||52||
नानक से मुह सोहणे सचै दरि दिसंन्हि ॥५२॥
O Nanak, their faces appear beautiful in the Court of the True Lord. ||52||
ਮੁਖ ਸਚੇ ਸਚੁ ਦਾੜੀਆ ਸਚੁ ਬੋਲਹਿ ਸਚੁ ਕਮਾਹਿ ॥
Mukh Sachae Sach Dhaarreeaa Sach Bolehi Sach Kamaahi ||
मुख सचे सचु दाड़ीआ सचु बोलहि सचु कमाहि ॥
True are the faces and true are the beards, of those who speak the Truth and live the Truth.
ਸਚਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਾਂਹਿ ਸਮਾਂਹਿ ॥
Sachaa Sabadh Man Vasiaa Sathigur Maanhi Samaanhi ||
सचा सबदु मनि वसिआ सतिगुर मांहि समांहि ॥
The True Word of the Shabad abides in their minds; they are absorbed in the True Guru.
ਸਚੀ ਰਾਸੀ ਸਚੁ ਧਨੁ ਉਤਮ ਪਦਵੀ ਪਾਂਹਿ ॥
Sachee Raasee Sach Dhhan Outham Padhavee Paanhi ||
सची रासी सचु धनु उतम पदवी पांहि ॥
True is their capital, and true is their wealth; they are blessed with the ultimate status.
ਸਚੁ ਸੁਣਹਿ ਸਚੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਲੈਨਿ ਸਚੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਹਿ ॥
Sach Sunehi Sach Mann Lain Sachee Kaar Kamaahi ||
सचु सुणहि सचु मंनि लैनि सची कार कमाहि ॥
They hear the Truth, they believe in the Truth; they act and work in the Truth.
ਸਚੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਬੈਸਣਾ ਸਚੇ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥
Sachee Dharageh Baisanaa Sachae Maahi Samaahi ||
सची दरगह बैसणा सचे माहि समाहि ॥
They are given a place in the Court of the True Lord; they are absorbed in the True Lord.
ਨਾਨਕ ਵਿਣੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਚੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਭੂਲੇ ਜਾਂਹਿ ॥੫੩॥
Naanak Vin Sathigur Sach N Paaeeai Manamukh Bhoolae Jaanhi ||53||
नानक विणु सतिगुर सचु न पाईऐ मनमुख भूले जांहि ॥५३॥
O Nanak, without the True Guru, the True Lord is not found. The self-willed manmukhs leave, wandering around lost. ||53||
ਬਾਬੀਹਾ ਪ੍ਰਿਉ ਪ੍ਰਿਉ ਕਰੇ ਜਲਨਿਧਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥
Baabeehaa Prio Prio Karae Jalanidhh Praem Piaar ||
बाबीहा प्रिउ प्रिउ करे जलनिधि प्रेम पिआरि ॥
The rainbird cries, ""Pri-o! Pri-o! Beloved! Beloved!"" She is in love with the treasure, the water.
ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲੇ ਸੀਤਲ ਜਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਭਿ ਦੂਖ ਨਿਵਾਰਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
Gur Milae Seethal Jal Paaeiaa Sabh Dhookh Nivaaranehaar ||
गुर मिले सीतल जलु पाइआ सभि दूख निवारणहारु ॥
Meeting with the Guru, the cooling, soothing water is obtained, and all pain is taken away.
ਤਿਸ ਚੁਕੈ ਸਹਜੁ ਊਪਜੈ ਚੁਕੈ ਕੂਕ ਪੁਕਾਰ ॥
This Chukai Sehaj Oopajai Chukai Kook Pukaar ||
तिस चुकै सहजु ऊपजै चुकै कूक पुकार ॥
My thirst has been quenched, and intuitive peace and poise have welled up; my cries and screams of anguish are past.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਹੋਇ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਖਹੁ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਿ ॥੫੪॥
Naanak Guramukh Saanth Hoe Naam Rakhahu Our Dhhaar ||54||
नानक गुरमुखि सांति होइ नामु रखहु उरि धारि ॥५४॥
O Nanak, the Gurmukhs are peaceful and tranquil; they enshrine the Naam, the Name of the Lord, within their hearts. ||54||
ਬਾਬੀਹਾ ਤੂੰ ਸਚੁ ਚਉ ਸਚੇ ਸਉ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
Baabeehaa Thoon Sach Cho Sachae So Liv Laae ||
बाबीहा तूं सचु चउ सचे सउ लिव लाइ ॥
O rainbird, chirp the True Name, and let yourself be attuned to the True Lord.
ਬੋਲਿਆ ਤੇਰਾ ਥਾਇ ਪਵੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਇ ਅਲਾਇ ॥
Boliaa Thaeraa Thhaae Pavai Guramukh Hoe Alaae ||
बोलिआ तेरा थाइ पवै गुरमुखि होइ अलाइ ॥
Your word shall be accepted and approved, if you speak as Gurmukh.
ਸਬਦੁ ਚੀਨਿ ਤਿਖ ਉਤਰੈ ਮੰਨਿ ਲੈ ਰਜਾਇ ॥
Sabadh Cheen Thikh Outharai Mann Lai Rajaae ||
सबदु चीनि तिख उतरै मंनि लै रजाइ ॥
Remember the Shabad, and your thirst shall be relieved; surrender to the Will of the Lord.
