The Beloved Eternal Lord God,
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਸਾਗਰ ਤਾਰਣਹ ॥੧੪॥
Naanak Sansaar Saagar Thaaraneh ||14||
नानक संसार सागर तारणह ॥१४॥
O Nanak, carries us across the world-ocean. ||14||
ਮਰਣੰ ਬਿਸਰਣੰ ਗੋਬਿੰਦਹ ॥
Maranan Bisaranan Gobindheh ||
मरणं बिसरणं गोबिंदह ॥
It is death to forget the Lord of the Universe.
ਜੀਵਣੰ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਧ੍ਯ੍ਯਾਵਣਹ ॥
Jeevanan Har Naam Dhhyaavaneh ||
जीवणं हरि नाम ध्यावणह ॥
It is life to meditate on the Name of the Lord.
ਲਭਣੰ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗੇਣ ॥
Labhanan Saadhh Sangaen ||
लभणं साध संगेण ॥
The Lord is found in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy,
ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਣਹ ॥੧੫॥
Naanak Har Poorab Likhaneh ||15||
नानक हरि पूरबि लिखणह ॥१५॥
O Nanak, by pre-ordained destiny. ||15||
ਦਸਨ ਬਿਹੂਨ ਭੁਯੰਗੰ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੰ ਗਾਰੁੜੀ ਨਿਵਾਰੰ ॥
Dhasan Bihoon Bhuyangan Manthran Gaarurree Nivaaran ||
दसन बिहून भुयंगं मंत्रं गारुड़ी निवारं ॥
The snake-charmer, by his spell, neutralizes the poison and leaves the snake without fangs.
ਬ੍ਯ੍ਯਾਧਿ ਉਪਾੜਣ ਸੰਤੰ ॥
Byaadhh Oupaarran Santhan ||
ब्याधि उपाड़ण संतं ॥
Just so, the Saints remove suffering;
ਨਾਨਕ ਲਬਧ ਕਰਮਣਹ ॥੧੬॥
Naanak Labadhh Karamaneh ||16||
नानक लबध करमणह ॥१६॥
O Nanak, they are found by good karma. ||16||
ਜਥ ਕਥ ਰਮਣੰ ਸਰਣੰ ਸਰਬਤ੍ਰ ਜੀਅਣਹ ॥
Jathh Kathh Ramanan Saranan Sarabathr Jeeaneh ||
जथ कथ रमणं सरणं सरबत्र जीअणह ॥
The Lord is All-pervading everywhere; He gives Sanctuary to all living beings.
ਤਥ ਲਗਣੰ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨਾਨਕ ॥
Thathh Laganan Praem Naanak ||
तथ लगणं प्रेम नानक ॥
The mind is touched by His Love, O Nanak,
ਪਰਸਾਦੰ ਗੁਰ ਦਰਸਨਹ ॥੧੭॥
Parasaadhan Gur Dharasaneh ||17||
परसादं गुर दरसनह ॥१७॥
By Guru's Grace, and the Blessed Vision of His Darshan. ||17||
ਚਰਣਾਰਬਿੰਦ ਮਨ ਬਿਧ੍ਯ੍ਯੰ ॥
Charanaarabindh Man Bidhhyan ||
चरणारबिंद मन बिध्यं ॥
My mind is pierced through by the Lord's Lotus Feet.
ਸਿਧ੍ਯ੍ਯੰ ਸਰਬ ਕੁਸਲਣਹ ॥
Sidhhyan Sarab Kusalaneh ||
सिध्यं सरब कुसलणह ॥
I am blessed with total happiness.
ਗਾਥਾ ਗਾਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਬ੍ਯ੍ਯੰ ਪਰਾ ਪੂਰਬਣਹ ॥੧੮॥
Gaathhaa Gaavanth Naanak Bhabyan Paraa Poorabaneh ||18||
गाथा गावंति नानक भब्यं परा पूरबणह ॥१८॥
Holy people have been singing this Gaat'haa, O Nanak, since the very beginning of time. ||18||
ਸੁਭ ਬਚਨ ਰਮਣੰ ਗਵਣੰ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗੇਣ ਉਧਰਣਹ ॥
Subh Bachan Ramanan Gavanan Saadhh Sangaen Oudhharaneh ||
सुभ बचन रमणं गवणं साध संगेण उधरणह ॥
Chanting and singing the Sublime Word of God in the Saadh Sangat, mortals are saved from the world-ocean.
ਸੰਸਾਰ ਸਾਗਰੰ ਨਾਨਕ ਪੁਨਰਪਿ ਜਨਮ ਨ ਲਭ੍ਯ੍ਯਤੇ ॥੧੯॥
Sansaar Saagaran Naanak Punarap Janam N Labhyathae ||19||
संसार सागरं नानक पुनरपि जनम न लभ्यते ॥१९॥
O Nanak, they shall never again be consigned to reincarnation. ||19||
ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਣ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਬੀਚਾਰੰ ॥
Baedh Puraan Saasathr Beechaaran ||
बेद पुराण सासत्र बीचारं ॥
People contemplate the Vedas, Puraanas and Shaastras.
ਏਕੰਕਾਰ ਨਾਮ ਉਰ ਧਾਰੰ ॥
Eaekankaar Naam Our Dhhaaran ||
एकंकार नाम उर धारं ॥
But by enshrining in their hearts the Naam, the Name of the One and Only Creator of the Universe,
ਕੁਲਹ ਸਮੂਹ ਸਗਲ ਉਧਾਰੰ ॥
Kuleh Samooh Sagal Oudhhaaran ||
कुलह समूह सगल उधारं ॥
Everyone can be saved.
ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੋ ਤਾਰੰ ॥੨੦॥
Baddabhaagee Naanak Ko Thaaran ||20||
बडभागी नानक को तारं ॥२०॥
By great good fortune, O Nanak, a few cross over like this. ||20||
ਸਿਮਰਣੰ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨਾਮੰ ਉਧਰਣੰ ਕੁਲ ਸਮੂਹਣਹ ॥
Simaranan Gobindh Naaman Oudhharanan Kul Samoohaneh ||
सिमरणं गोबिंद नामं उधरणं कुल समूहणह ॥
Meditating in remembrance on the Naam, the Name of Lord of the Universe, all one's generations are saved.
ਲਬਧਿਅੰ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗੇਣ ਨਾਨਕ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਭੇਟੰਤਿ ਦਰਸਨਹ ॥੨੧॥
Labadhhian Saadhh Sangaen Naanak Vaddabhaagee Bhaettanth Dharasaneh ||21||
लबधिअं साध संगेण नानक वडभागी भेटंति दरसनह ॥२१॥
It is obtained in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. O Nanak, by great good fortune, the Blessed Vision of His Darshan is seen. ||21||
ਸਰਬ ਦੋਖ ਪਰੰਤਿਆਗੀ ਸਰਬ ਧਰਮ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੰਤਣਃ ॥
Sarab Dhokh Paranthiaagee Sarab Dhharam Dhrirranthana ||
सरब दोख परंतिआगी सरब धरम द्रिड़ंतणः ॥
Abandon all your evil habits, and implant all Dharmic faith within.
ਲਬਧੇਣਿ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗੇਣਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲਿਖ੍ਯ੍ਯਣਃ ॥੨੨॥
Labadhhaen Saadhh Sangaen Naanak Masathak Likhyana ||22||
लबधेणि साध संगेणि नानक मसतकि लिख्यणः ॥२२॥
The Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, is obtained, O Nanak, by those who have such destiny written upon their foreheads. ||22||
ਹੋਯੋ ਹੈ ਹੋਵੰਤੋ ਹਰਣ ਭਰਣ ਸੰਪੂਰਣਃ ॥
Hoyo Hai Hovantho Haran Bharan Sanpoorana ||
होयो है होवंतो हरण भरण स्मपूरणः ॥
God was, is, and shall always be. He sustains and destroys all.
ਸਾਧੂ ਸਤਮ ਜਾਣੋ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਕਾਰਣੰ ॥੨੩॥
Saadhhoo Satham Jaano Naanak Preeth Kaaranan ||23||
साधू सतम जाणो नानक प्रीति कारणं ॥२३॥
Know that these Holy people are true, O Nanak; they are in love with the Lord. ||23||
ਸੁਖੇਣ ਬੈਣ ਰਤਨੰ ਰਚਨੰ ਕਸੁੰਭ ਰੰਗਣਃ ॥
Sukhaen Bain Rathanan Rachanan Kasunbh Rangana ||
सुखेण बैण रतनं रचनं कसु्मभ रंगणः ॥
The mortal is engrossed in sweet words and transitory pleasures which shall soon fade away.
ਰੋਗ ਸੋਗ ਬਿਓਗੰ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖੁ ਨ ਸੁਪਨਹ ॥੨੪॥
Rog Sog Biougan Naanak Sukh N Supaneh ||24||
रोग सोग बिओगं नानक सुखु न सुपनह ॥२४॥
Disease, sorrow and separation afflict him; O Nanak, he never finds peace, even in dreams. ||24||

ਹਾਥਿ ਕਲੰਮ ਅਗੰਮ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲੇਖਾਵਤੀ ॥
Haathh Kalanm Aganm Masathak Laekhaavathee ||
हाथि कलम अगम मसतकि लेखावती ॥
With Pen in Hand, the Unfathomable Lord writes the mortal's destiny upon his forehead.
ਉਰਝਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਸਭ ਸੰਗਿ ਅਨੂਪ ਰੂਪਾਵਤੀ ॥
Ourajh Rehiou Sabh Sang Anoop Roopaavathee ||
उरझि रहिओ सभ संगि अनूप रूपावती ॥
The Incomparably Beautiful Lord is involved with all.
ਉਸਤਤਿ ਕਹਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਮੁਖਹੁ ਤੁਹਾਰੀਆ ॥
Ousathath Kehan N Jaae Mukhahu Thuhaareeaa ||
उसतति कहनु न जाइ मुखहु तुहारीआ ॥
I cannot utter Your Praises with my mouth.
ਮੋਹੀ ਦੇਖਿ ਦਰਸੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀਆ ॥੧॥
Mohee Dhaekh Dharas Naanak Balihaareeaa ||1||
मोही देखि दरसु नानक बलिहारीआ ॥१॥
Nanak is fascinated, gazing upon the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan. I am a sacrifice to You. ||1||
ਸੰਤ ਸਭਾ ਮਹਿ ਬੈਸਿ ਕਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਮੈ ਕਹਾਂ ॥
Santh Sabhaa Mehi Bais K Keerath Mai Kehaan ||
संत सभा महि बैसि कि कीरति मै कहां ॥
Seated in the Society of the Saints, I chant the Lord's Praises.
ਅਰਪੀ ਸਭੁ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ਏਹੁ ਜੀਉ ਸਭੁ ਦਿਵਾ ॥
Arapee Sabh Seegaar Eaehu Jeeo Sabh Dhivaa ||
अरपी सभु सीगारु एहु जीउ सभु दिवा ॥
I dedicate all my adornments to Him, and give all this soul to Him.
ਆਸ ਪਿਆਸੀ ਸੇਜ ਸੁ ਕੰਤਿ ਵਿਛਾਈਐ ॥
Aas Piaasee Saej S Kanth Vishhaaeeai ||
आस पिआसी सेज सु कंति विछाईऐ ॥
With hopeful yearning for Him, I have made the bed for my Husband.
ਹਰਿਹਾਂ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਭਾਗੁ ਤ ਸਾਜਨੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੨॥
Harihaan Masathak Hovai Bhaag Th Saajan Paaeeai ||2||
हरिहां मसतकि होवै भागु त साजनु पाईऐ ॥२॥
O Lord! If such good destiny is inscribed upon my forehead, then I shall find my Friend. ||2||
ਸਖੀ ਕਾਜਲ ਹਾਰ ਤੰਬੋਲ ਸਭੈ ਕਿਛੁ ਸਾਜਿਆ ॥
Sakhee Kaajal Haar Thanbol Sabhai Kishh Saajiaa ||
सखी काजल हार त्मबोल सभै किछु साजिआ ॥
O my companion, I have prepared everything: make-up, garlands and betel-leaves.
ਸੋਲਹ ਕੀਏ ਸੀਗਾਰ ਕਿ ਅੰਜਨੁ ਪਾਜਿਆ ॥
Soleh Keeeae Seegaar K Anjan Paajiaa ||
सोलह कीए सीगार कि अंजनु पाजिआ ॥
I have embellished myself with the sixteen decorations, and applied the mascara to my eyes.
ਜੇ ਘਰਿ ਆਵੈ ਕੰਤੁ ਤ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
Jae Ghar Aavai Kanth Th Sabh Kishh Paaeeai ||
जे घरि आवै कंतु त सभु किछु पाईऐ ॥
If my Husband Lord comes to my home, then I obtain everything.
ਹਰਿਹਾਂ ਕੰਤੈ ਬਾਝੁ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ਸਭੁ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਾਈਐ ॥੩॥
Harihaan Kanthai Baajh Seegaar Sabh Birathhaa Jaaeeai ||3||
हरिहां कंतै बाझु सीगारु सभु बिरथा जाईऐ ॥३॥
O Lord! Without my Husband, all these adornments are useless. ||3||
ਜਿਸੁ ਘਰਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਕੰਤੁ ਸਾ ਵਡਭਾਗਣੇ ॥
Jis Ghar Vasiaa Kanth Saa Vaddabhaaganae ||
जिसु घरि वसिआ कंतु सा वडभागणे ॥
Very fortunate is she, within whose home the Husband Lord abides.
ਤਿਸੁ ਬਣਿਆ ਹਭੁ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ਸਾਈ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੇ ॥
This Baniaa Habh Seegaar Saaee Sohaaganae ||
तिसु बणिआ हभु सीगारु साई सोहागणे ॥
She is totally adorned and decorated; she is a happy soul-bride.
ਹਉ ਸੁਤੀ ਹੋਇ ਅਚਿੰਤ ਮਨਿ ਆਸ ਪੁਰਾਈਆ ॥
Ho Suthee Hoe Achinth Man Aas Puraaeeaa ||
हउ सुती होइ अचिंत मनि आस पुराईआ ॥
I sleep in peace, without anxiety; the hopes of my mind have been fulfilled.
ਹਰਿਹਾਂ ਜਾ ਘਰਿ ਆਇਆ ਕੰਤੁ ਤ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਪਾਈਆ ॥੪॥
Harihaan Jaa Ghar Aaeiaa Kanth Th Sabh Kishh Paaeeaa ||4||
हरिहां जा घरि आइआ कंतु त सभु किछु पाईआ ॥४॥
O Lord! When my Husband came into the home of my heart, I obtained everything. ||4||
