Jaen Kalaa Maath Garabh Prathipaalan Neh Shhaedhanth Jathar Roganeh ||
जेन कला मात गरभ प्रतिपालं नह छेदंत जठर रोगणह ॥
His Power provides nourishment in the womb of the mother, and does not let disease strike.
ਤੇਨ ਕਲਾ ਅਸਥੰਭੰ ਸਰੋਵਰੰ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਹ ਛਿਜੰਤਿ ਤਰੰਗ ਤੋਯਣਹ ॥੫੩॥

तेन कला असथ्मभं सरोवरं नानक नह छिजंति तरंग तोयणह ॥५३॥
His Power holds back the ocean, O Nanak, and does not allow the waves of water to destroy the land. ||53||

गुसांई गरिस्ट रूपेण सिमरणं सरबत्र जीवणह ॥
The Lord of the World is Supremely Beautiful; His Meditation is the Life of all.
ਲਬਧ੍ਯ੍ਯੰ ਸੰਤ ਸੰਗੇਣ ਨਾਨਕ ਸ੍ਵਛ ਮਾਰਗ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਣਹ ॥੫੪॥
Labadhhyan Santh Sangaen Naanak Svashh Maarag Har Bhagathaneh ||54||
लबध्यं संत संगेण नानक स्वछ मारग हरि भगतणह ॥५४॥
In the Society of the Saints, O Nanak, He is found on the path of devotional worship of the Lord. ||54||
ਮਸਕੰ ਭਗਨੰਤ ਸੈਲੰ ਕਰਦਮੰ ਤਰੰਤ ਪਪੀਲਕਹ ॥
Masakan Bhagananth Sailan Karadhaman Tharanth Papeelakeh ||
मसकं भगनंत सैलं करदमं तरंत पपीलकह ॥
The mosquito pierces the stone, the ant crosses the swamp,
ਸਾਗਰੰ ਲੰਘੰਤਿ ਪਿੰਗੰ ਤਮ ਪਰਗਾਸ ਅੰਧਕਹ ॥
Saagaran Langhanth Pingan Tham Paragaas Andhhakeh ||
सागरं लंघंति पिंगं तम परगास अंधकह ॥
The cripple crosses the ocean, and the blind sees in the darkness,
ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗੇਣਿ ਸਿਮਰੰਤਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਰਣਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰੇ ॥੫੫॥
Saadhh Sangaen Simaranth Gobindh Saran Naanak Har Har Harae ||55||
साध संगेणि सिमरंति गोबिंद सरणि नानक हरि हरि हरे ॥५५॥
Meditating on the Lord of the Universe in the Saadh Sangat. Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of the Lord, Har, Har, Haray. ||55||
ਤਿਲਕ ਹੀਣੰ ਜਥਾ ਬਿਪ੍ਰਾ ਅਮਰ ਹੀਣੰ ਜਥਾ ਰਾਜਨਹ ॥
Thilak Heenan Jathhaa Bipraa Amar Heenan Jathhaa Raajaneh ||
तिलक हीणं जथा बिप्रा अमर हीणं जथा राजनह ॥
Like a Brahmin without a sacred mark on his forehead, or a king without the power of command,
ਆਵਧ ਹੀਣੰ ਜਥਾ ਸੂਰਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਧਰਮ ਹੀਣੰ ਤਥਾ ਬੈਸ੍ਨਵਹ ॥੫੬॥
Aavadhh Heenan Jathhaa Soorar Naanak Dhharam Heenan Thathhaa Baisaaveh ||56||
आवध हीणं जथा सूरा नानक धरम हीणं तथा बैस्नवह ॥५६॥
Or a warrior without weapons, so is the devotee of God without Dharmic Faith. ||56||
ਨ ਸੰਖੰ ਨ ਚਕ੍ਰੰ ਨ ਗਦਾ ਨ ਸਿਆਮੰ ॥
N Sankhan N Chakran N Gadhaa N Siaaman ||
न संखं न चक्रं न गदा न सिआमं ॥
God has no conch-shell, no religious mark, no paraphernalia; he does not have blue skin.
ਅਸ੍ਚਰਜ ਰੂਪੰ ਰਹੰਤ ਜਨਮੰ ॥
Ascharaj Roopan Rehanth Janaman ||
अस्चरज रूपं रहंत जनमं ॥
His Form is Wondrous and Amazing. He is beyond incarnation.
ਨੇਤ ਨੇਤ ਕਥੰਤਿ ਬੇਦਾ ॥
Naeth Naeth Kathhanth Baedhaa ||
नेत नेत कथंति बेदा ॥
The Vedas say that He is not this, and not that.
ਊਚ ਮੂਚ ਅਪਾਰ ਗੋਬਿੰਦਹ ॥
Ooch Mooch Apaar Gobindheh ||
ऊच मूच अपार गोबिंदह ॥
The Lord of the Universe is Lofty and High, Great and Infinite.
ਬਸੰਤਿ ਸਾਧ ਰਿਦਯੰ ਅਚੁਤ ਬੁਝੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਡਭਾਗੀਅਹ ॥੫੭॥
Basanth Saadhh Ridhayan Achuth Bujhanth Naanak Baddabhaageeah ||57||
बसंति साध रिदयं अचुत बुझंति नानक बडभागीअह ॥५७॥
The Imperishable Lord abides in the hearts of the Holy. He is understood, O Nanak, by those who are very fortunate. ||57||
ਉਦਿਆਨ ਬਸਨੰ ਸੰਸਾਰੰ ਸਨਬੰਧੀ ਸ੍ਵਾਨ ਸਿਆਲ ਖਰਹ ॥
Oudhiaan Basanan Sansaaran Sanabandhhee Svaan Siaal Khareh ||
उदिआन बसनं संसारं सनबंधी स्वान सिआल खरह ॥
Living in the world, it is like a wild jungle. One's relatives are like dogs, jackals and donkeys.
ਬਿਖਮ ਸਥਾਨ ਮਨ ਮੋਹ ਮਦਿਰੰ ਮਹਾਂ ਅਸਾਧ ਪੰਚ ਤਸਕਰਹ ॥
Bikham Sathhaan Man Moh Madhiran Mehaan Asaadhh Panch Thasakareh ||
बिखम सथान मन मोह मदिरं महां असाध पंच तसकरह ॥
In this difficult place, the mind is intoxicated with the wine of emotional attachment; the five unconquered thieves lurk there.
ਹੀਤ ਮੋਹ ਭੈ ਭਰਮ ਭ੍ਰਮਣੰ ਅਹੰ ਫਾਂਸ ਤੀਖ੍ਯ੍ਯਣ ਕਠਿਨਹ ॥
Heeth Moh Bhai Bharam Bhramanan Ahan Faans Theekhyan Kathineh ||
हीत मोह भै भरम भ्रमणं अहं फांस तीख्यण कठिनह ॥
The mortals wander lost in love and emotional attachment, fear and doubt; they are caught in the sharp, strong noose of egotism.
ਪਾਵਕ ਤੋਅ ਅਸਾਧ ਘੋਰੰ ਅਗਮ ਤੀਰ ਨਹ ਲੰਘਨਹ ॥
Paavak Thoa Asaadhh Ghoran Agam Theer Neh Langhaneh ||
पावक तोअ असाध घोरं अगम तीर नह लंघनह ॥
The ocean of fire is terrifying and impassable. The distant shore is so far away; it cannot be reached.
ਭਜੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਗਪਾਲ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣ ਸਰਣ ਉਧਰਣ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ॥੫੮॥
Bhaj Saadhhasang Guopaal Naanak Har Charan Saran Oudhharan Kirapaa ||58||
भजु साधसंगि गोपाल नानक हरि चरण सरण उधरण क्रिपा ॥५८॥
Vibrate and meditate on the Lord of the World, in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy; O Nanak, by His Grace, we are saved at the Lotus Feet of the Lord. ||58||
ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੰਤ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੋਪਾਲਹ ਸਗਲ੍ਯ੍ਯੰ ਰੋਗ ਖੰਡਣਹ ॥
Kirapaa Karanth Gobindh Gopaaleh Sagalyan Rog Khanddaneh ||
क्रिपा करंत गोबिंद गोपालह सगल्यं रोग खंडणह ॥
When the Lord of the Universe grants His Grace, all illnesses are cured.
ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗੇਣਿ ਗੁਣ ਰਮਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰਹ ॥੫੯॥
Saadhh Sangaen Gun Ramath Naanak Saran Pooran Paramaesureh ||59||
साध संगेणि गुण रमत नानक सरणि पूरन परमेसुरह ॥५९॥
Nanak chants His Glorious Praises in the Saadh Sangat, in the Sanctuary of the Perfect Transcendent Lord God. ||59||
ਸਿਆਮਲੰ ਮਧੁਰ ਮਾਨੁਖ੍ਯ੍ਯੰ ਰਿਦਯੰ ਭੂਮਿ ਵੈਰਣਹ ॥
Siaamalan Madhhur Maanukhyan Ridhayan Bhoom Vairaneh ||
सिआमलं मधुर मानुख्यं रिदयं भूमि वैरणह ॥
The mortal is beautiful and speaks sweet words, but in the farm of his heart, he harbors cruel vengeance.
ਨਿਵੰਤਿ ਹੋਵੰਤਿ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਚੇਤਨੰ ਸੰਤ ਸ੍ਵਜਨਹ ॥੬੦॥
Nivanth Hovanth Mithhiaa Chaethanan Santh Svajaneh ||60||
निवंति होवंति मिथिआ चेतनं संत स्वजनह ॥६०॥
He pretends to bow in worship, but he is false. Beware of him, O friendly Saints. ||60||
ਅਚੇਤ ਮੂੜਾ ਨ ਜਾਣੰਤ ਘਟੰਤ ਸਾਸਾ ਨਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਤੇ ॥
Achaeth Moorraa N Jaananth Ghattanth Saasaa Nith Prathae ||
अचेत मूड़ा न जाणंत घटंत सासा नित प्रते ॥
The thoughtless fool does not know that each day, his breaths are being used up.
ਛਿਜੰਤ ਮਹਾ ਸੁੰਦਰੀ ਕਾਂਇਆ ਕਾਲ ਕੰਨਿਆ ਗ੍ਰਾਸਤੇ ॥
Shhijanth Mehaa Sundharee Kaaneiaa Kaal Kanniaa Graasathae ||
छिजंत महा सुंदरी कांइआ काल कंनिआ ग्रासते ॥
His most beautiful body is wearing away; old age, the daughter of death, has seized it.
ਰਚੰਤਿ ਪੁਰਖਹ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਲੀਲਾ ਅਨਿਤ ਆਸਾ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਬਿਨੋਦ ॥
Rachanth Purakheh Kuttanb Leelaa Anith Aasaa Bikhiaa Binodh ||
रचंति पुरखह कुट्मब लीला अनित आसा बिखिआ बिनोद ॥
He is engrossed in family play; placing his hopes in transitory things, he indulges in corrupt pleasures.
ਭ੍ਰਮੰਤਿ ਭ੍ਰਮੰਤਿ ਬਹੁ ਜਨਮ ਹਾਰਿਓ ਸਰਣਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਰੁਣਾ ਮਯਹ ॥੬੧॥
Bhramanth Bhramanth Bahu Janam Haariou Saran Naanak Karunaa Mayeh ||61||
भ्रमंति भ्रमंति बहु जनम हारिओ सरणि नानक करुणा मयह ॥६१॥
Wandering lost in countless incarnations, he is exhausted. Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of the Embodiment of Mercy. ||61||
ਹੇ ਜਿਹਬੇ ਹੇ ਰਸਗੇ ਮਧੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਤੁਯੰ ॥
Hae Jihabae Hae Rasagae Madhhur Pria Thuyan ||
हे जिहबे हे रसगे मधुर प्रिअ तुयं ॥
O tongue, you love to enjoy the sweet delicacies.
ਸਤ ਹਤੰ ਪਰਮ ਬਾਦੰ ਅਵਰਤ ਏਥਹ ਸੁਧ ਅਛਰਣਹ ॥
Sath Hathan Param Baadhan Avarath Eaethheh Sudhh Ashharaneh ||
सत हतं परम बादं अवरत एथह सुध अछरणह ॥
You are dead to the Truth, and involved in great disputes. Instead, repeat the holy words:
ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦਾਮੋਦਰ ਮਾਧਵੇ ॥੬੨॥

ਗਰਬੰਤਿ ਨਾਰੀ ਮਦੋਨ ਮਤੰ ॥

गरबंति नारी मदोन मतं ॥
Those who are proud, and intoxicated with the pleasures of sex,
ਬਲਵੰਤ ਬਲਾਤ ਕਾਰਣਹ ॥
Balavanth Balaath Kaaraneh ||
बलवंत बलात कारणह ॥
And asserting their power over others,
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਨਹ ਭਜੰਤ ਤ੍ਰਿਣ ਸਮਾਨਿ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਜਨਮਨਹ ॥
Charan Kamal Neh Bhajanth Thrin Samaan Dhhrig Janamaneh ||
चरन कमल नह भजंत त्रिण समानि ध्रिगु जनमनह ॥
Never contemplate the Lord's Lotus Feet. Their lives are cursed, and as worthless as straw.
ਹੇ ਪਪੀਲਕਾ ਗ੍ਰਸਟੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿਮਰਣ ਤੁਯੰ ਧਨੇ ॥
Hae Papeelakaa Grasattae Gobindh Simaran Thuyan Dhhanae ||
हे पपीलका ग्रसटे गोबिंद सिमरण तुयं धने ॥
You are as tiny and insignificant as an ant, but you shall become great, by the Wealth of the Lord's Meditation.
ਨਾਨਕ ਅਨਿਕ ਬਾਰ ਨਮੋ ਨਮਹ ॥੬੩॥
Naanak Anik Baar Namo Nameh ||63||
नानक अनिक बार नमो नमह ॥६३॥
Nanak bows in humble worship, countless times, over and over again. ||63||
ਤ੍ਰਿਣੰ ਤ ਮੇਰੰ ਸਹਕੰ ਤ ਹਰੀਅੰ ॥
Thrinan Th Maeran Sehakan Th Hareean ||
त्रिणं त मेरं सहकं त हरीअं ॥
The blade of grass becomes a mountain, and the barren land becomes green.
ਬੂਡੰ ਤ ਤਰੀਅੰ ਊਣੰ ਤ ਭਰੀਅੰ ॥
Booddan Th Thareean Oonan Th Bhareean ||
बूडं त तरीअं ऊणं त भरीअं ॥
The drowning one swims across, and the empty is filled to overflowing.
ਅੰਧਕਾਰ ਕੋਟਿ ਸੂਰ ਉਜਾਰੰ ॥
Andhhakaar Kott Soor Oujaaran ||
अंधकार कोटि सूर उजारं ॥
Millions of suns illuminate the darkness,
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਦਯਾਰੰ ॥੬੪॥
Binavanth Naanak Har Gur Dhayaaran ||64||
बिनवंति नानक हरि गुर दयारं ॥६४॥
Prays Nanak, when the Guru, the Lord, becomes Merciful. ||64||
