I listened to preachers and teachers, but I could not be happy with their lifestyles.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਲਗੇ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਹਉ ਕਿਆ ਕਹਉ ॥
Har Naam Shhodd Dhoojai Lagae Thinh Kae Gun Ho Kiaa Keho ||
हरि नामु छोडि दूजै लगे तिन्ह के गुण हउ किआ कहउ ॥
Those who have abandoned the Lord's Name, and become attached to duality - why should I speak in praise of them?
ਗੁਰੁ ਦਯਿ ਮਿਲਾਯਉ ਭਿਖਿਆ ਜਿਵ ਤੂ ਰਖਹਿ ਤਿਵ ਰਹਉ ॥੨॥੨੦॥
Gur Dhay Milaayo Bhikhiaa Jiv Thoo Rakhehi Thiv Reho ||2||20||
गुरु दयि मिलायउ भिखिआ जिव तू रखहि तिव रहउ ॥२॥२०॥
So speaks Bhikhaa: the Lord has led me to meet the Guru. As You keep me, I remain; as You protect me, I survive. ||2||20||
ਪਹਿਰਿ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਸਨਾਹੁ ਗਿਆਨਿ ਹੈ ਆਸਣਿ ਚੜਿਅਉ ॥
Pehir Samaadhh Sanaahu Giaan Hai Aasan Charriao ||
पहिरि समाधि सनाहु गिआनि है आसणि चड़िअउ ॥
Wearing the armor of Samaadhi, the Guru has mounted the saddled horse of spiritual wisdom.
ਧ੍ਰੰਮ ਧਨਖੁ ਕਰ ਗਹਿਓ ਭਗਤ ਸੀਲਹ ਸਰਿ ਲੜਿਅਉ ॥
Dhhranm Dhhanakh Kar Gehiou Bhagath Seeleh Sar Larriao ||
ध्रम धनखु कर गहिओ भगत सीलह सरि लड़िअउ ॥
Holding the bow of Dharma in His Hands, He has shot the arrows of devotion and humility.
ਭੈ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਹਰਿ ਅਟਲੁ ਮਨਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਗੁਰ ਨੇਜਾ ਗਡਿਓ ॥
Bhai Nirabho Har Attal Man Sabadh Gur Naejaa Gaddiou ||
भै निरभउ हरि अटलु मनि सबदि गुर नेजा गडिओ ॥
He is fearless in the Fear of the Eternal Lord God; He has thrust the spear of the Word of the Guru's Shabad into the mind.
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਅਪਤੁ ਪੰਚ ਦੂਤ ਬਿਖੰਡਿਓ ॥
Kaam Krodhh Lobh Moh Apath Panch Dhooth Bikhanddiou ||
काम क्रोध लोभ मोह अपतु पंच दूत बिखंडिओ ॥
He has cut down the five demons of unfulfilled sexual desire, unresolved anger, unsatisfied greed, emotional attachment and self-conceit.
ਭਲਉ ਭੂਹਾਲੁ ਤੇਜੋ ਤਨਾ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਨਾਥੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਰਿ ॥

भलउ भूहालु तेजो तना न्रिपति नाथु नानक बरि ॥

घनहर बूंद बसुअ रोमावलि कुसम बसंत गनंत न आवै ॥
The raindrops of the clouds, the plants of the earth, and the flowers of the spring cannot be counted.
ਰਵਿ ਸਸਿ ਕਿਰਣਿ ਉਦਰੁ ਸਾਗਰ ਕੋ ਗੰਗ ਤਰੰਗ ਅੰਤੁ ਕੋ ਪਾਵੈ ॥

रवि ससि किरणि उदरु सागर को गंग तरंग अंतु को पावै ॥
Who can know the limits of the rays of the sun and the moon, the waves of the ocean and the Ganges?
ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਧਿਆਨ ਗਿਆਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਕਬਿ ਜਨ ਭਲ੍ਯ੍ਯ ਉਨਹ ਜ ਗਾਵੈ ॥

रुद्र धिआन गिआन सतिगुर के कबि जन भल्य उनह जो गावै ॥

Janpo Gun Bimal Sujan Jan Kaerae Amia Naam Jaa Ko Furiaa ||
ज्मपउ गुण बिमल सुजन जन केरे अमिअ नामु जा कउ फुरिआ ॥
I chant the pure praises of that humble being who has been blessed with the Ambrosial Nectar of the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਇਨਿ ਸਤਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਬਦ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਯਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਉਰਿ ਧਰਿਆ ॥
Ein Sathagur Saev Sabadh Ras Paayaa Naam Niranjan Our Dhhariaa ||
इनि सतगुरु सेवि सबद रसु पाया नामु निरंजन उरि धरिआ ॥
He served the True Guru and was blessed with the sublime essence of the Shabad, the Word of God. The Immaculate Naam has been enshrined in his heart.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਰਸਿਕੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਹਕੁ ਚਾਹਕੁ ਤਤ ਸਮਤ ਸਰੇ ॥
Har Naam Rasik Gobindh Gun Gaahak Chaahak Thath Samath Sarae ||
हरि नाम रसिकु गोबिंद गुण गाहकु चाहकु तत समत सरे ॥
He enjoys and savors the Lord's Name, and purchases the Glorious Virtues of the Lord of the Universe. He seeks the essence of reality; he is the Fountain of even-handed justice.

ਛੁਟਤ ਪਰਵਾਹ ਅਮਿਅ ਅਮਰਾ ਪਦ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਸਦ ਭਰਿਆ ॥
Shhuttath Paravaah Amia Amaraa Padh Anmrith Sarovar Sadh Bhariaa ||
छुटत परवाह अमिअ अमरा पद अम्रित सरोवर सद भरिआ ॥
The stream of ambrosial nectar flows and the immortal status is obtained; the pool is forever overflowing with Ambrosial Nectar.
ਤੇ ਪੀਵਹਿ ਸੰਤ ਕਰਹਿ ਮਨਿ ਮਜਨੁ ਪੁਬ ਜਿਨਹੁ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੀਆ ॥
Thae Peevehi Santh Karehi Man Majan Pub Jinahu Saevaa Kareeaa ||
ते पीवहि संत करहि मनि मजनु पुब जिनहु सेवा करीआ ॥
Those Saints who have served the Lord in the past drink in this Nectar, and bathe their minds in it.
ਤਿਨ ਭਉ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ ਅਨਭੈ ਪਦੁ ਦੀਨਾ ਸਬਦ ਮਾਤ੍ਰ ਤੇ ਉਧਰ ਧਰੇ ॥
Thin Bho Nivaar Anabhai Padh Dheenaa Sabadh Maathr Thae Oudhhar Dhharae ||
तिन भउ निवारि अनभै पदु दीना सबद मात्र ते उधर धरे ॥
God takes their fears away, and blesses them with the state of fearless dignity. Through the Word of His Shabad, He has saved them.

Jaagyaa Man Kaval Sehaj Parakaasyaa Abhai Niranjan Gharehi Lehaa ||
जाग्या मनु कवलु सहजि परकास्या अभै निरंजनु घरहि लहा ॥
The Lotus of His mind remains awake and aware, illuminated with intuitive wisdom. In His own home, He has obtained the Fearless, Immaculate Lord.
