ਜੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ॥
Jeea Praan Thumh Pindd Dheenh ||
जीअ प्राण तुम्ह पिंड दीन्ह ॥
You gave us our soul, breath of life and body.
ਮੁਗਧ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਧਾਰਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਕੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ॥
Mugadhh Sundhar Dhhaar Joth Keenh ||
मुगध सुंदर धारि जोति कीन्ह ॥
I am a fool, but You have made me beautiful, enshrining Your Light within me.
ਸਭਿ ਜਾਚਿਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਦਇਆਲ ॥
Sabh Jaachik Prabh Thumh Dhaeiaal ||
सभि जाचिक प्रभ तुम्ह दइआल ॥
We are all beggars, O God; You are merciful to us.

Chanting the Naam, the Name of the Lord, we are uplifted and exalted. ||1||

मेरे प्रीतम कारण करण जोग ॥
O my Beloved, only You have the potency to act,
ਹਉ ਪਾਵਉ ਤੁਮ ਤੇ ਸਗਲ ਥੋਕ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

हउ पावउ तुम ते सगल थोक ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
And cause all to be done. ||1||Pause||
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਹੋਵਤ ਉਧਾਰ ॥
Naam Japath Hovath Oudhhaar ||
नामु जपत होवत उधार ॥
Chanting the Naam, the mortal is saved.
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਸੁਖ ਸਹਜ ਸਾਰ ॥
Naam Japath Sukh Sehaj Saar ||
नामु जपत सुख सहज सार ॥
Chanting the Naam, sublime peace and poise are found.
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਪਤਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
Naam Japath Path Sobhaa Hoe ||
नामु जपत पति सोभा होइ ॥
Chanting the Naam, honor and glory are received.
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਬਿਘਨੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥੨॥
Naam Japath Bighan Naahee Koe ||2||
नामु जपत बिघनु नाही कोइ ॥२॥
Chanting the Naam, no obstacles shall block your way. ||2||
ਜਾ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਇਹ ਦੁਲਭ ਦੇਹ ॥
Jaa Kaaran Eih Dhulabh Dhaeh ||
जा कारणि इह दुलभ देह ॥
For this reason, you have been blessed with this body, so difficult to obtain.
ਸੋ ਬੋਲੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇਹਿ ॥
So Bol Maerae Prabhoo Dhaehi ||
सो बोलु मेरे प्रभू देहि ॥
O my Dear God, please bless me to speak the Naam.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਹਿ ਇਹੁ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮੁ ॥
Saadhhasangath Mehi Eihu Bisraam ||
साधसंगति महि इहु बिस्रामु ॥
This tranquil peace is found in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਸਦਾ ਰਿਦੈ ਜਪੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੋ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੩॥

सदा रिदै जपी प्रभ तेरो नामु ॥३॥
May I always chant and meditate within my heart on Your Name, O God. ||3||
ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੋਇ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
Thujh Bin Dhoojaa Koe Naahi ||
तुझ बिनु दूजा कोइ नाहि ॥
Other than You, there is no one at all.
ਸਭੁ ਤੇਰੋ ਖੇਲੁ ਤੁਝ ਮਹਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥
Sabh Thaero Khael Thujh Mehi Samaahi ||
सभु तेरो खेलु तुझ महि समाहि ॥
Everything is Your play; it all merges again into You.
ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਾਖਿ ਲੇ ॥
Jio Bhaavai Thio Raakh Lae ||
जिउ भावै तिउ राखि ले ॥
As it pleases Your Will, save me, Lord.
ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੇ ॥੪॥੪॥

सुखु नानक पूरा गुरु मिले ॥४॥४॥
O Nanak, peace is obtained by meeting with the Perfect Guru. ||4||4||

प्रभ प्रीतम मेरै संगि राइ ॥
My Beloved God, my King is with me.
ਜਿਸਹਿ ਦੇਖਿ ਹਉ ਜੀਵਾ ਮਾਇ ॥
Jisehi Dhaekh Ho Jeevaa Maae ||
जिसहि देखि हउ जीवा माइ ॥
Gazing upon Him, I live, O my mother.
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
Jaa Kai Simaran Dhukh N Hoe ||
जा कै सिमरनि दुखु न होइ ॥
Remembering Him in meditation, there is no pain or suffering.
ਕਰਿ ਦਇਆ ਮਿਲਾਵਹੁ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਮੋਹਿ ॥੧॥
Kar Dhaeiaa Milaavahu Thisehi Mohi ||1||
करि दइआ मिलावहु तिसहि मोहि ॥१॥
Please, take pity on me, and lead me on to meet Him. ||1||

My Beloved is the Support of my breath of life and mind.

जीउ प्रान सभु तेरो धन ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
This soul, breath of life, and wealth are all Yours, O Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਖੋਜਹਿ ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਦੇਵ ॥
Jaa Ko Khojehi Sur Nar Dhaev ||
जा कउ खोजहि सुरि नर देव ॥
He is sought by the angels, mortals and divine beings.
ਮੁਨਿ ਜਨ ਸੇਖ ਨ ਲਹਹਿ ਭੇਵ ॥
Mun Jan Saekh N Lehehi Bhaev ||
मुनि जन सेख न लहहि भेव ॥
The silent sages, the humble, and the religious teachers do not understand His mystery.
ਜਾ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
Jaa Kee Gath Mith Kehee N Jaae ||
जा की गति मिति कही न जाइ ॥
His state and extent cannot be described.
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੨॥
Ghatt Ghatt Ghatt Ghatt Rehiaa Samaae ||2||
घटि घटि घटि घटि रहिआ समाइ ॥२॥
In each and every home of each and every heart, He is permeating and pervading. ||2||
ਜਾ ਕੇ ਭਗਤ ਆਨੰਦ ਮੈ ॥
Jaa Kae Bhagath Aanandh Mai ||
जा के भगत आनंद मै ॥
His devotees are totally in bliss.
ਜਾ ਕੇ ਭਗਤ ਕਉ ਨਾਹੀ ਖੈ ॥
Jaa Kae Bhagath Ko Naahee Khai ||
जा के भगत कउ नाही खै ॥
His devotees cannot be destroyed.
ਜਾ ਕੇ ਭਗਤ ਕਉ ਨਾਹੀ ਭੈ ॥
Jaa Kae Bhagath Ko Naahee Bhai ||
जा के भगत कउ नाही भै ॥
His devotees are not afraid.
ਜਾ ਕੇ ਭਗਤ ਕਉ ਸਦਾ ਜੈ ॥੩॥
Jaa Kae Bhagath Ko Sadhaa Jai ||3||
जा के भगत कउ सदा जै ॥३॥
His devotees are victorious forever. ||3||
ਕਉਨ ਉਪਮਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਕਹੀ ਜਾਇ ॥
Koun Oupamaa Thaeree Kehee Jaae ||
कउन उपमा तेरी कही जाइ ॥
What Praises of Yours can I utter?
ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਰਹਿਓ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
Sukhadhaathaa Prabh Rehiou Samaae ||
सुखदाता प्रभु रहिओ समाइ ॥
God, the Giver of peace, is all-pervading, permeating everywhere.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਾਚੈ ਏਕੁ ਦਾਨੁ ॥
Naanak Jaachai Eaek Dhaan ||
नानकु जाचै एकु दानु ॥
Nanak begs for this one gift.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਮੋਹਿ ਦੇਹੁ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੪॥੫॥
Kar Kirapaa Mohi Dhaehu Naam ||4||5||
करि किरपा मोहि देहु नामु ॥४॥५॥
Be merciful, and bless me with Your Name. ||4||5||

ਮਿਲਿ ਪਾਣੀ ਜਿਉ ਹਰੇ ਬੂਟ ॥
Mil Paanee Jio Harae Boott ||
मिलि पाणी जिउ हरे बूट ॥
As the plant turns green upon receiving water,
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਤਿਉ ਹਉਮੈ ਛੂਟ ॥
Saadhhasangath Thio Houmai Shhoott ||
साधसंगति तिउ हउमै छूट ॥
Just so, in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, egotism is eradicated.
ਜੈਸੀ ਦਾਸੇ ਧੀਰ ਮੀਰ ॥
Jaisee Dhaasae Dhheer Meer ||
जैसी दासे धीर मीर ॥
Just as the servant is encouraged by his ruler,
ਤੈਸੇ ਉਧਾਰਨ ਗੁਰਹ ਪੀਰ ॥੧॥
Thaisae Oudhhaaran Gureh Peer ||1||
तैसे उधारन गुरह पीर ॥१॥
We are saved by the Guru. ||1||
ਤੁਮ ਦਾਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੇਨਹਾਰ ॥
Thum Dhaathae Prabh Dhaenehaar ||
तुम दाते प्रभ देनहार ॥
You are the Great Giver, O Generous Lord God.
ਨਿਮਖ ਨਿਮਖ ਤਿਸੁ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

निमख निमख तिसु नमसकार ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Each and every instant, I humbly bow to You. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਸਹਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੁ ॥
Jisehi Paraapath Saadhhasang ||
जिसहि परापति साधसंगु ॥
Whoever enters the Saadh Sangat
ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਲਾਗਾ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਰੰਗੁ ॥
This Jan Laagaa Paarabreham Rang ||
तिसु जन लागा पारब्रहम रंगु ॥
That humble being is imbued with the Love of the Supreme Lord God.
ਤੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਤੇ ਭਏ ਮੁਕਤਿ ॥
Thae Bandhhan Thae Bheae Mukath ||
ते बंधन ते भए मुकति ॥
He is liberated from bondage.
ਭਗਤ ਅਰਾਧਹਿ ਜੋਗ ਜੁਗਤਿ ॥੨॥
Bhagath Araadhhehi Jog Jugath ||2||
भगत अराधहि जोग जुगति ॥२॥
His devotees worship Him in adoration; they are united in His Union. ||2||
ਨੇਤ੍ਰ ਸੰਤੋਖੇ ਦਰਸੁ ਪੇਖਿ ॥
Naethr Santhokhae Dharas Paekh ||
नेत्र संतोखे दरसु पेखि ॥
My eyes are content, gazing upon the Blessed Vision of His Darshan.
ਰਸਨਾ ਗਾਏ ਗੁਣ ਅਨੇਕ ॥
Rasanaa Gaaeae Gun Anaek ||
रसना गाए गुण अनेक ॥
My tongue sings the Infinite Praises of God.
ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਬੂਝੀ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
Thrisanaa Boojhee Gur Prasaadh ||
त्रिसना बूझी गुर प्रसादि ॥
My thirst is quenched, by Guru's Grace.
ਮਨੁ ਆਘਾਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਹਿ ਸੁਆਦਿ ॥੩॥
Man Aaghaanaa Har Rasehi Suaadh ||3||
मनु आघाना हरि रसहि सुआदि ॥३॥
My mind is satisfied, with the sublime taste of the Lord's subtle essence. ||3||
ਸੇਵਕੁ ਲਾਗੋ ਚਰਣ ਸੇਵ ॥
Saevak Laago Charan Saev ||
सेवकु लागो चरण सेव ॥
Your servant is committed to the service of Your Feet,
ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਅਪਰੰਪਰ ਦੇਵ ॥
Aadh Purakh Aparanpar Dhaev ||
आदि पुरख अपर्मपर देव ॥
O Primal Infinite Divine Being.
ਸਗਲ ਉਧਾਰਣ ਤੇਰੋ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
Sagal Oudhhaaran Thaero Naam ||
सगल उधारण तेरो नामु ॥
Your Name is the Saving Grace of all.
ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਇਓ ਇਹੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ॥੪॥੬॥

तुम बड दाते दे रहे ॥
You are the Great Giver; You continue to give.
ਜੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਮਹਿ ਰਵਿ ਰਹੇ ॥
Jeea Praan Mehi Rav Rehae ||
जीअ प्राण महि रवि रहे ॥
You permeate and pervade my soul, and my breath of life.
ਦੀਨੇ ਸਗਲੇ ਭੋਜਨ ਖਾਨ ॥
Dheenae Sagalae Bhojan Khaan ||
दीने सगले भोजन खान ॥
You have given me all sorts of foods and dishes.
ਮੋਹਿ ਨਿਰਗੁਨ ਇਕੁ ਗੁਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਨ ॥੧॥
Mohi Niragun Eik Gun N Jaan ||1||
मोहि निरगुन इकु गुनु न जान ॥१॥
I am unworthy; I know none of Your Virtues at all. ||1||
ਹਉ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਨਉ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਾਰ ॥

हउ कछू न जानउ तेरी सार ॥
