Lab Adhhaeraa Bandheekhaanaa Aougan Pair Luhaaree ||3||
लबु अधेरा बंदीखाना अउगण पैरि लुहारी ॥३॥
Greed is the dark dungeon, and demerits are the shackles on his feet. ||3||
ਪੂੰਜੀ ਮਾਰ ਪਵੈ ਨਿਤ ਮੁਦਗਰ ਪਾਪੁ ਕਰੇ ਕਟਵਾਰੀ ॥
Poonjee Maar Pavai Nith Mudhagar Paap Karae Kuottavaaree ||
पूंजी मार पवै नित मुदगर पापु करे कोटवारी ॥
His wealth constantly batters him, and sin acts as the police officer.
ਭਾਵੈ ਚੰਗਾ ਭਾਵੈ ਮੰਦਾ ਜੈਸੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰੀ ॥੪॥
Bhaavai Changaa Bhaavai Mandhaa Jaisee Nadhar Thumhaaree ||4||
भावै चंगा भावै मंदा जैसी नदरि तुम्हारी ॥४॥
Whether the mortal is good or bad, he is as You look upon him, O Lord. ||4||
ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਕਉ ਅਲਹੁ ਕਹੀਐ ਸੇਖਾਂ ਆਈ ਵਾਰੀ ॥
Aadh Purakh Ko Alahu Keheeai Saekhaan Aaee Vaaree ||
आदि पुरख कउ अलहु कहीऐ सेखां आई वारी ॥
The Primal Lord God is called Allah. The Shaykh's turn has now come.
ਦੇਵਲ ਦੇਵਤਿਆ ਕਰੁ ਲਾਗਾ ਐਸੀ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਚਾਲੀ ॥੫॥
Dhaeval Dhaevathiaa Kar Laagaa Aisee Keerath Chaalee ||5||
देवल देवतिआ करु लागा ऐसी कीरति चाली ॥५॥
The temples of the gods are subject to taxes; this is what it has come to. ||5||
ਕੂਜਾ ਬਾਂਗ ਨਿਵਾਜ ਮੁਸਲਾ ਨੀਲ ਰੂਪ ਬਨਵਾਰੀ ॥
Koojaa Baang Nivaaj Musalaa Neel Roop Banavaaree ||
कूजा बांग निवाज मुसला नील रूप बनवारी ॥

ਘਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਮੀਆ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਜੀਆਂ ਬੋਲੀ ਅਵਰ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥੬॥
Ghar Ghar Meeaa Sabhanaan Jeeaaan Bolee Avar Thumaaree ||6||
घरि घरि मीआ सभनां जीआं बोली अवर तुमारी ॥६॥
In each and every home, everyone uses Muslim greetings; your speech has changed, O people. ||6||
ਜੇ ਤੂ ਮੀਰ ਮਹੀਪਤਿ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਕਉਣ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥
Jae Thoo Meer Meheepath Saahib Kudharath Koun Hamaaree ||
जे तू मीर महीपति साहिबु कुदरति कउण हमारी ॥
You, O my Lord and Master, are the King of the earth; what power do I have to challenge You?
ਚਾਰੇ ਕੁੰਟ ਸਲਾਮੁ ਕਰਹਿਗੇ ਘਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਸਿਫਤਿ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰੀ ॥੭॥
Chaarae Kuntt Salaam Karehigae Ghar Ghar Sifath Thumhaaree ||7||
चारे कुंट सलामु करहिगे घरि घरि सिफति तुम्हारी ॥७॥
In the four directions, people bow in humble adoration to You; Your Praises are sung in each and every heart. ||7||
ਤੀਰਥ ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਪੁੰਨ ਦਾਨ ਕਿਛੁ ਲਾਹਾ ਮਿਲੈ ਦਿਹਾੜੀ ॥

तीरथ सिम्रिति पुंन दान किछु लाहा मिलै दिहाड़ी ॥
Making pilgrimages to sacred shrines, reading the Simritees and giving donations in charity - these do bring any profit.

ਇਹੁ ਮਿਰਤਕੁ ਮੜਾ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਹੈ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਹੀ ਵਸਿਆ ॥
Eihu Mirathak Marraa Sareer Hai Sabh Jag Jith Raam Naam Nehee Vasiaa ||
इहु मिरतकु मड़ा सरीरु है सभु जगु जितु राम नामु नही वसिआ ॥
These are dead corpses, these bodies of all the people of the world; the Name of the Lord does not dwell in them.
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਉਦਕੁ ਚੁਆਇਆ ਫਿਰਿ ਹਰਿਆ ਹੋਆ ਰਸਿਆ ॥੨॥
Raam Naam Gur Oudhak Chuaaeiaa Fir Hariaa Hoaa Rasiaa ||2||
राम नामु गुरि उदकु चुआइआ फिरि हरिआ होआ रसिआ ॥२॥
The Guru leads us to taste the water of the Lord's Name, and then we savor and enjoy it, and our bodies are rejuvenated. ||2||
ਮੈ ਨਿਰਖਤ ਨਿਰਖਤ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਸਭੁ ਖੋਜਿਆ ਇਕੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਚਲਤੁ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥
Mai Nirakhath Nirakhath Sareer Sabh Khojiaa Eik Guramukh Chalath Dhikhaaeiaa ||
मै निरखत निरखत सरीरु सभु खोजिआ इकु गुरमुखि चलतु दिखाइआ ॥
I have examined and studied and searched my entire body, and as Gurmukh, I behold a miraculous wonder.
ਬਾਹਰੁ ਖੋਜਿ ਮੁਏ ਸਭਿ ਸਾਕਤ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਘਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
Baahar Khoj Mueae Sabh Saakath Har Guramathee Ghar Paaeiaa ||3||
बाहरु खोजि मुए सभि साकत हरि गुरमती घरि पाइआ ॥३॥
All the faithless cynics searched outside and died, but following the Guru's Teachings, I have found the Lord within the home of my own heart. ||3||
ਦੀਨਾ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਭਏ ਹੈ ਜਿਉ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨੁ ਬਿਦਰ ਘਰਿ ਆਇਆ ॥
Dheenaa Dheen Dhaeiaal Bheae Hai Jio Kirasan Bidhar Ghar Aaeiaa ||
दीना दीन दइआल भए है जिउ क्रिसनु बिदर घरि आइआ ॥
God is Merciful to the meekest of the meek; Krishna came to the house of Bidar, a devotee of low social status.
ਮਿਲਿਓ ਸੁਦਾਮਾ ਭਾਵਨੀ ਧਾਰਿ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਆਗੈ ਦਾਲਦੁ ਭੰਜਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੪॥
Miliou Sudhaamaa Bhaavanee Dhhaar Sabh Kishh Aagai Dhaaladh Bhanj Samaaeiaa ||4||
मिलिओ सुदामा भावनी धारि सभु किछु आगै दालदु भंजि समाइआ ॥४॥
Sudama loved God, who came to meet him; God sent everything to his home, and ended his poverty. ||4||
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਪੈਜ ਵਡੇਰੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਰਖਾਈ ॥
Raam Naam Kee Paij Vaddaeree Maerae Thaakur Aap Rakhaaee ||
राम नाम की पैज वडेरी मेरे ठाकुरि आपि रखाई ॥
Great is the glory of the Name of the Lord. My Lord and Master Himself has enshrined it within me.
ਜੇ ਸਭਿ ਸਾਕਤ ਕਰਹਿ ਬਖੀਲੀ ਇਕ ਰਤੀ ਤਿਲੁ ਨ ਘਟਾਈ ॥੫॥
Jae Sabh Saakath Karehi Bakheelee Eik Rathee Thil N Ghattaaee ||5||
जे सभि साकत करहि बखीली इक रती तिलु न घटाई ॥५॥
Even if all the faithless cynics continue slandering me, it is not diminished by even one iota. ||5||
ਜਨ ਕੀ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਹੈ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਾ ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਈ ॥
Jan Kee Ousathath Hai Raam Naamaa Dheh Dhis Sobhaa Paaee ||
जन की उसतति है राम नामा दह दिसि सोभा पाई ॥
The Lord's Name is the praise of His humble servant. It brings him honor in the ten directions.
ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਸਾਕਤੁ ਖਵਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਤਿਲੁ ਅਪਣੈ ਘਰਿ ਲੂਕੀ ਲਾਈ ॥੬॥
Nindhak Saakath Khav N Sakai Thil Apanai Ghar Lookee Laaee ||6||
निंदकु साकतु खवि न सकै तिलु अपणै घरि लूकी लाई ॥६॥
The slanderers and the faithless cynics cannot endure it at all; they have set fire to their own houses. ||6||
ਜਨ ਕਉ ਜਨੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਵੈ ਗੁਣ ਮਹਿ ਗੁਣ ਪਰਗਾਸਾ ॥
Jan Ko Jan Mil Sobhaa Paavai Gun Mehi Gun Paragaasaa ||
जन कउ जनु मिलि सोभा पावै गुण महि गुण परगासा ॥
The humble person meeting with another humble person obtains honor. In the glory of the Lord, their glory shines forth.
ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕੇ ਜਨ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਜੋ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਦਾਸਨਿ ਦਾਸਾ ॥੭॥
Maerae Thaakur Kae Jan Preetham Piaarae Jo Hovehi Dhaasan Dhaasaa ||7||
मेरे ठाकुर के जन प्रीतम पिआरे जो होवहि दासनि दासा ॥७॥
The servants of my Lord and Master are loved by the Beloved. They are the slaves of His slaves. ||7||
ਆਪੇ ਜਲੁ ਅਪਰੰਪਰੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ ॥
Aapae Jal Aparanpar Karathaa Aapae Mael Milaavai ||
आपे जलु अपर्मपरु करता आपे मेलि मिलावै ॥
The Creator Himself is the Water; He Himself unites us in His Union.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ਜਿਉ ਜਲੁ ਜਲਹਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥੮॥੧॥੯॥

नानक गुरमुखि सहजि मिलाए जिउ जलु जलहि समावै ॥८॥१॥९॥
