सारग महला ४ ॥
Saarang, Fourth Mehl:
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਹੁ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
Har Har Anmrith Naam Dhaehu Piaarae ||
हरि हरि अम्रित नामु देहु पिआरे ॥
O my Beloved Lord, Har, Har, please bless me with Your Ambrosial Name.
ਜਿਨ ਊਪਰਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਕਾਜ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Jin Oopar Guramukh Man Maaniaa Thin Kae Kaaj Savaarae ||1|| Rehaao ||
जिन ऊपरि गुरमुखि मनु मानिआ तिन के काज सवारे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Those whose minds are pleased to be Gurmukh - the Lord completes their projects. ||1||Pause||
ਜੋ ਜਨ ਦੀਨ ਭਏ ਗੁਰ ਆਗੈ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਦੂਖ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ॥
Jo Jan Dheen Bheae Gur Aagai Thin Kae Dhookh Nivaarae ||
जो जन दीन भए गुर आगै तिन के दूख निवारे ॥
Those humble beings who become meek before the Guru-their pains are taken away.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਗੁਰ ਆਗੈ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
Anadhin Bhagath Karehi Gur Aagai Gur Kai Sabadh Savaarae ||1||
अनदिनु भगति करहि गुर आगै गुर कै सबदि सवारे ॥१॥
Night and day, they perform devotional worship services to the Guru; they are embellished with the Word of the Guru's Shabad. ||1||
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਰਸਨਾ ਰਸੁ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਰਸੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੇ ॥
Hiradhai Naam Anmrith Ras Rasanaa Ras Gaavehi Ras Beechaarae ||
हिरदै नामु अम्रित रसु रसना रसु गावहि रसु बीचारे ॥
Within their hearts is the ambrosial essence of the Naam, the Name of the Lord; they savor this essence, sing the praises of this essence, and contemplate this essence.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਚੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿਆ ਓਇ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰੇ ॥੨॥
Gur Parasaadh Anmrith Ras Cheenihaaa Oue Paavehi Mokh Dhuaarae ||2||
गुर परसादि अम्रित रसु चीन्हिआ ओइ पावहि मोख दुआरे ॥२॥
By Guru's Grace, they are aware of this ambrosial essence; they find the Gate of Salvation. ||2||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਅਚਲੁ ਅਚਲਾ ਮਤਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਤਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੇ ॥
Sathigur Purakh Achal Achalaa Math Jis Dhrirrathaa Naam Adhhaarae ||
सतिगुरु पुरखु अचलु अचला मति जिसु द्रिड़ता नामु अधारे ॥
The True is the Primal Being, Unmoving and Unchanging. One who takes the Support of the Naam, the Name of the Lord - his intellect becomes focused and steady.
ਤਿਸੁ ਆਗੈ ਜੀਉ ਦੇਵਉ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਹਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੇ ॥੩॥
This Aagai Jeeo Dhaevo Apunaa Ho Sathigur Kai Balihaarae ||3||
तिसु आगै जीउ देवउ अपुना हउ सतिगुर कै बलिहारे ॥३॥
I offer my soul to Him; I am a sacrifice to my True Guru. ||3||
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਲਾਗੇ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਅਗਿਆਨ ਗੁਬਾਰੇ ॥
Manamukh Bhram Dhoojai Bhaae Laagae Anthar Agiaan Gubaarae ||
मनमुख भ्रमि दूजै भाइ लागे अंतरि अगिआन गुबारे ॥
The self-willed manmukhs are stuck in doubt and attached to duality; the darkness of spiritual ignorance is within them.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਨਦਰਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਨਾ ਉਰਵਾਰਿ ਨ ਪਾਰੇ ॥੪॥
Sathigur Dhaathaa Nadhar N Aavai Naa Ouravaar N Paarae ||4||
सतिगुरु दाता नदरि न आवै ना उरवारि न पारे ॥४॥
They do not see the True Guru, the Giver; they are not on this shore, or the other. ||4||
ਸਰਬੇ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਰਵਿਆ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਕਲ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
Sarabae Ghatt Ghatt Raviaa Suaamee Sarab Kalaa Kal Dhhaarae ||
सरबे घटि घटि रविआ सुआमी सरब कला कल धारे ॥
Our Lord and Master is permeating and pervading each and every heart; He is supremely Potent to exercise His Might.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਦਾਸਨਿ ਦਾਸੁ ਕਹਤ ਹੈ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਲੇਹੁ ਉਬਾਰੇ ॥੫॥੩॥
Naanak Dhaasan Dhaas Kehath Hai Kar Kirapaa Laehu Oubaarae ||5||3||
नानकु दासनि दासु कहत है करि किरपा लेहु उबारे ॥५॥३॥
Nanak, the slave of His slaves, says, please, be merciful and save me! ||5||3||

Saarang, Fourth Mehl:
ਗੋਬਿਦ ਕੀ ਐਸੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
Gobidh Kee Aisee Kaar Kamaae ||
गोबिद की ऐसी कार कमाइ ॥
This is the way to work for the Lord.
ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਸਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨਹੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਹਹੁ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Jo Kishh Karae S Sath Kar Maanahu Guramukh Naam Rehahu Liv Laae ||1|| Rehaao ||
जो किछु करे सु सति करि मानहु गुरमुखि नामि रहहु लिव लाइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Whatever He does, accept that as true. As Gurmukh, remain lovingly absorbed in His Name. ||1||Pause||
ਗੋਬਿਦ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਗੀ ਅਤਿ ਮੀਠੀ ਅਵਰ ਵਿਸਰਿ ਸਭ ਜਾਇ ॥
Gobidh Preeth Lagee Ath Meethee Avar Visar Sabh Jaae ||
गोबिद प्रीति लगी अति मीठी अवर विसरि सभ जाइ ॥
The Love of the Lord of the Universe seems supremely sweet. Everything else is forgotten.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਰਹਸੁ ਭਇਆ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੧॥
Anadhin Rehas Bhaeiaa Man Maaniaa Jothee Joth Milaae ||1||
अनदिनु रहसु भइआ मनु मानिआ जोती जोति मिलाइ ॥१॥
Night and day, he is in ecstasy; his mind is pleased and appeased, and his light merges into the Light. ||1||
ਜਬ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਮਨੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤੈ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥
Jab Gun Gaae Thab Hee Man Thripathai Saanth Vasai Man Aae ||
जब गुण गाइ तब ही मनु त्रिपतै सांति वसै मनि आइ ॥
Singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, his mind is satisfied. Peace and tranquility come to abide within his mind.
ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ਭਏ ਤਬ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇ ॥੨॥
Gur Kirapaal Bheae Thab Paaeiaa Har Charanee Chith Laae ||2||
गुर किरपाल भए तब पाइआ हरि चरणी चितु लाइ ॥२॥
When the Guru becomes merciful, the mortal finds the Lord; he focuses his consciousness on the Lord's Lotus Feet. ||2||
ਮਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ ਭਈ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਗਿਆਨਿ ਤਤਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
Math Pragaas Bhee Har Dhhiaaeiaa Giaan Thath Liv Laae ||
मति प्रगास भई हरि धिआइआ गिआनि तति लिव लाइ ॥
The intellect is enlightened, meditating on the Lord. He remains lovingly attuned to the essence of spiritual wisdom.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੀ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਲਗਾਇ ॥੩॥
Anthar Joth Pragattee Man Maaniaa Har Sehaj Samaadhh Lagaae ||3||
अंतरि जोति प्रगटी मनु मानिआ हरि सहजि समाधि लगाइ ॥३॥
The Divine Light radiates forth deep within his being; his mind is pleased and appeased. He merges intuitively into Celestial Samaadhi. ||3||
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਕਪਟੁ ਨਿਤ ਕਪਟੁ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਮੁਖਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਣਾਇ ॥
Hiradhai Kapatt Nith Kapatt Kamaavehi Mukhahu Har Har Sunaae ||
हिरदै कपटु नित कपटु कमावहि मुखहु हरि हरि सुणाइ ॥
One whose heart is filled with falsehood, continues to practice falsehood, even while he teaches and preaches about the Lord.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਲੋਭੁ ਮਹਾ ਗੁਬਾਰਾ ਤੁਹ ਕੂਟੈ ਦੁਖ ਖਾਇ ॥੪॥
Anthar Lobh Mehaa Gubaaraa Thuh Koottai Dhukh Khaae ||4||
अंतरि लोभु महा गुबारा तुह कूटै दुख खाइ ॥४॥
Within him is the utter darkness of greed. He is thrashed like wheat, and suffers in pain. ||4||
ਜਬ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਭਏ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਰਚਾ ਲਾਇ ॥
Jab Suprasann Bheae Prabh Maerae Guramukh Parachaa Laae ||
जब सुप्रसंन भए प्रभ मेरे गुरमुखि परचा लाइ ॥
When my God is totally pleased, the mortal tunes in and becomes Gurmukh.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇ ॥੫॥੪॥
Naanak Naam Niranjan Paaeiaa Naam Japath Sukh Paae ||5||4||
नानक नाम निरंजनु पाइआ नामु जपत सुखु पाइ ॥५॥४॥
Nanak has obtained the Immaculate Naam, the Name of the Lord. Chanting the Naam, he has found peace. ||5||4||

मेरा मनु राम नामि मनु मानी ॥
My mind is pleased and appeased by the Name of the Lord.
ਮੇਰੈ ਹੀਅਰੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਗਾਈ ਮਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ਸੁਖਾਨੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Maerai Heearai Sathigur Preeth Lagaaee Man Har Har Kathhaa Sukhaanee ||1|| Rehaao ||
मेरै हीअरै सतिगुरि प्रीति लगाई मनि हरि हरि कथा सुखानी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
The True Guru has implanted divine love within my heart. The Sermon of the Lord, Har, Har, is pleasing to my mind. ||1||Pause||
ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਹੋਵਹੁ ਜਨ ਊਪਰਿ ਜਨ ਦੇਵਹੁ ਅਕਥ ਕਹਾਨੀ ॥
Dheen Dhaeiaal Hovahu Jan Oopar Jan Dhaevahu Akathh Kehaanee ||
दीन दइआल होवहु जन ऊपरि जन देवहु अकथ कहानी ॥
Please be merciful to Your meek and humble servant; please bless Your humble servant with Your Unspoken Speech.
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਮੀਠ ਲਗਾਨੀ ॥੧॥
Santh Janaa Mil Har Ras Paaeiaa Har Man Than Meeth Lagaanee ||1||
संत जना मिलि हरि रसु पाइआ हरि मनि तनि मीठ लगानी ॥१॥
Meeting with the humble Saints, I have found the sublime essence of the Lord. The Lord seems so sweet to my mind and body. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤੇ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਛਾਨੀ ॥
Har Kai Rang Rathae Bairaagee Jinh Guramath Naam Pashhaanee ||
हरि कै रंगि रते बैरागी जिन्ह गुरमति नामु पछानी ॥
They alone are unattached, who are imbued with the Lord's Love; through the Guru's Teachings, they realize the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਪੁਰਖੈ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਭ ਚੂਕੀ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਨੀ ॥੨॥
Purakhai Purakh Miliaa Sukh Paaeiaa Sabh Chookee Aavan Jaanee ||2||
पुरखै पुरखु मिलिआ सुखु पाइआ सभ चूकी आवण जानी ॥२॥
Meeting with the Primal Being, one finds peace, and one's comings and goings in reincarnation are ended. ||2||
ਨੈਣੀ ਬਿਰਹੁ ਦੇਖਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਰਸਨਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਨੀ ॥
Nainee Birahu Dhaekhaa Prabh Suaamee Rasanaa Naam Vakhaanee ||
नैणी बिरहु देखा प्रभ सुआमी रसना नामु वखानी ॥
With my eyes, I gaze lovingly upon God, my Lord and Master. I chant His Name with my tongue.
