ਹਰਿ ਭਜਿ ਆਨ ਕਰਮ ਬਿਕਾਰ ॥
Har Bhaj Aan Karam Bikaar ||
हरि भजि आन करम बिकार ॥
Meditate, vibrate on the Lord; other actions are corrupt.
ਮਾਨ ਮੋਹੁ ਨ ਬੁਝਤ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਕਾਲ ਗ੍ਰਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Maan Mohu N Bujhath Thrisanaa Kaal Gras Sansaar ||1|| Rehaao ||
मान मोहु न बुझत त्रिसना काल ग्रस संसार ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Pride, attachment and desire are not quenched; the world is in the grip of death. ||1||Pause||
ਖਾਤ ਪੀਵਤ ਹਸਤ ਸੋਵਤ ਅਉਧ ਬਿਤੀ ਅਸਾਰ ॥
Khaath Peevath Hasath Sovath Aoudhh Bithee Asaar ||
खात पीवत हसत सोवत अउध बिती असार ॥
Eating, drinking, laughing and sleeping, life passes uselessly.
ਨਰਕ ਉਦਰਿ ਭ੍ਰਮੰਤ ਜਲਤੋ ਜਮਹਿ ਕੀਨੀ ਸਾਰ ॥੧॥
Narak Oudhar Bhramanth Jalatho Jamehi Keenee Saar ||1||
नरक उदरि भ्रमंत जलतो जमहि कीनी सार ॥१॥
The mortal wanders in reincarnation, burning in the hellish environment of the womb; in the end, he is destroyed by death. ||1||
ਪਰ ਦ੍ਰੋਹ ਕਰਤ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਪਾਪ ਰਤ ਕਰ ਝਾਰ ॥
Par Dhroh Karath Bikaar Nindhaa Paap Rath Kar Jhaar ||
पर द्रोह करत बिकार निंदा पाप रत कर झार ॥
He practices fraud, cruelty and slander against others; he sins, and washes his hands.
ਬਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬੂਝ ਨਾਹੀ ਤਮ ਮੋਹ ਮਹਾਂ ਅੰਧਾਰ ॥੨॥
Binaa Sathigur Boojh Naahee Tham Moh Mehaan Andhhaar ||2||
बिना सतिगुर बूझ नाही तम मोह महां अंधार ॥२॥
Without the True Guru, he has no understanding; he is lost in the utter darkness of anger and attachment. ||2||
ਬਿਖੁ ਠਗਉਰੀ ਖਾਇ ਮੂਠੋ ਚਿਤਿ ਨ ਸਿਰਜਨਹਾਰ ॥
Bikh Thagouree Khaae Mootho Chith N Sirajanehaar ||
बिखु ठगउरी खाइ मूठो चिति न सिरजनहार ॥
He takes the intoxicating drugs of cruelty and corruption, and is plundered. He is not conscious of the Creator Lord God.
ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੁਪਤ ਹੋਇ ਰਹਿਓ ਨਿਆਰੋ ਮਾਤੰਗ ਮਤਿ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ॥੩॥
Gobindh Gupath Hoe Rehiou Niaaro Maathang Math Ahankaar ||3||
गोबिंद गुपत होइ रहिओ निआरो मातंग मति अहंकार ॥३॥
The Lord of the Universe is hidden and unattached. The mortal is like a wild elephant, intoxicated with the wine of egotism. ||3||
ਕਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੰਤ ਰਾਖੇ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਅਧਾਰ ॥
Kar Kirapaa Prabh Santh Raakhae Charan Kamal Adhhaar ||
करि क्रिपा प्रभ संत राखे चरन कमल अधार ॥
In His Mercy, God saves His Saints; they have the Support of His Lotus Feet.
ਕਰ ਜੋਰਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਰਨਿ ਆਇਓ ਗਪਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਅਪਾਰ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੨੯॥
Kar Jor Naanak Saran Aaeiou Guopaal Purakh Apaar ||4||1||129||
कर जोरि नानकु सरनि आइओ गोपाल पुरख अपार ॥४॥१॥१२९॥
With his palms pressed together, Nanak has come to the Sanctuary of the Primal Being, the Infinite Lord God. ||4||1||129||

किंकरी बिकार ॥
Why are you indulding in corrupt actions?
ਦੇਖੁ ਰੀ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥

देखु री बीचार ॥
Look at this, see and understand!
ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਮਹਲੁ ਪਾਇ ॥
Gur Sabadh Dhhiaae Mehal Paae ||
गुर सबदु धिआइ महलु पाइ ॥
Meditate on the Word of the Guru's Shabad, and attain the Mansion of the Lord's Presence.
ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਰੰਗ ਕਰਤੀ ਮਹਾ ਕੇਲ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Har Sang Rang Karathee Mehaa Kael ||1|| Rehaao ||
हरि संगि रंग करती महा केल ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Imbued with the Love of the Lord, you shall totally play with Him. ||1||Pause||
ਸੁਪਨ ਰੀ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
Supan Ree Sansaar ||
सुपन री संसारु ॥
The world is a dream.
ਮਿਥਨੀ ਬਿਸਥਾਰੁ ॥
Mithhanee Bisathhaar ||
मिथनी बिसथारु ॥
Its expanse is false.
ਸਖੀ ਕਾਇ ਮੋਹਿ ਮੋਹਿਲੀ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਮੇਲ ॥੧॥
Sakhee Kaae Mohi Mohilee Pria Preeth Ridhai Mael ||1||
सखी काइ मोहि मोहिली प्रिअ प्रीति रिदै मेल ॥१॥
O my companion, why are you so enticed by the Enticer? Enshrine the Love of Your Beloved within your heart. ||1||
ਸਰਬ ਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥

सरब री प्रीति पिआरु ॥
He is total love and affection.
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਦਾ ਰੀ ਦਇਆਰੁ ॥
Prabh Sadhaa Ree Dhaeiaar ||
प्रभु सदा री दइआरु ॥
God is always merciful.
ਕਾਂਏਂ ਆਨ ਆਨ ਰੁਚੀਐ ॥
Kaaneaen Aan Aan Rucheeai ||
कांएं आन आन रुचीऐ ॥
Others - why are you involved with others?
ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਖਚੀਐ ॥
Har Sang Sang Khacheeai ||
हरि संगि संगि खचीऐ ॥
Remain involved with the Lord.
ਜਉ ਸਾਧਸੰਗ ਪਾਏ ॥
Jo Saadhhasang Paaeae ||
जउ साधसंग पाए ॥
When you join the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy,
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਏ ॥
Kahu Naanak Har Dhhiaaeae ||
कहु नानक हरि धिआए ॥
Says Nanak, meditate on the Lord.
ਅਬ ਰਹੇ ਜਮਹਿ ਮੇਲ ॥੨॥੧॥੧੩੦॥
Ab Rehae Jamehi Mael ||2||1||130||
अब रहे जमहि मेल ॥२॥१॥१३०॥
Now, your association with death is ended. ||2||1||130||

Saarang, Fifth Mehl:
ਕੰਚਨਾ ਬਹੁ ਦਤ ਕਰਾ ॥
Kanchanaa Bahu Dhath Karaa ||
कंचना बहु दत करा ॥
You may make donations of gold,
ਭੂਮਿ ਦਾਨੁ ਅਰਪਿ ਧਰਾ ॥
Bhoom Dhaan Arap Dhharaa ||
भूमि दानु अरपि धरा ॥
And give away land in charity
ਮਨ ਅਨਿਕ ਸੋਚ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਕਰਤ ॥
Man Anik Soch Pavithr Karath ||
मन अनिक सोच पवित्र करत ॥
And purify your mind in various ways,
ਨਾਹੀ ਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੁਲਿ ਮਨ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਲਾਗੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Naahee Rae Naam Thul Man Charan Kamal Laagae ||1|| Rehaao ||
नाही रे नाम तुलि मन चरन कमल लागे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
But none of this is equal to the Lord's Name. Remain attached to the Lord's Lotus Feet. ||1||Pause||
ਚਾਰਿ ਬੇਦ ਜਿਹਵ ਭਨੇ ॥
Chaar Baedh Jihav Bhanae ||
चारि बेद जिहव भने ॥
You may recite the four Vedas with your tongue,
ਦਸ ਅਸਟ ਖਸਟ ਸ੍ਰਵਨ ਸੁਨੇ ॥
Dhas Asatt Khasatt Sravan Sunae ||
दस असट खसट स्रवन सुने ॥
And listen to the eighteen Puraanas and the six Shaastras with your ears,
ਨਹੀ ਤੁਲਿ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਨਾਮ ਧੁਨੇ ॥
Nehee Thul Gobidh Naam Dhhunae ||
नही तुलि गोबिद नाम धुने ॥
But these are not equal to the celestial melody of the Naam, the Name of the Lord of the Universe.
ਮਨ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਲਾਗੇ ॥੧॥
Man Charan Kamal Laagae ||1||
मन चरन कमल लागे ॥१॥
Remain attached to the Lord's Lotus Feet. ||1||
ਬਰਤ ਸੰਧਿ ਸੋਚ ਚਾਰ ॥
Barath Sandhh Soch Chaar ||
बरत संधि सोच चार ॥
You may observe fasts, and say your prayers, purify yourself
ਕ੍ਰਿਆ ਕੁੰਟਿ ਨਿਰਾਹਾਰ ॥
Kiraaa Kuntt Niraahaar ||
क्रिआ कुंटि निराहार ॥
And do good deeds; you may go on pilgrimages everywhere and eat nothing at all.
ਅਪਰਸ ਕਰਤ ਪਾਕਸਾਰ ॥
Aparas Karath Paakasaar ||
अपरस करत पाकसार ॥
You may cook your food without touching anyone;
ਨਿਵਲੀ ਕਰਮ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਸਥਾਰ ॥
Nivalee Karam Bahu Bisathhaar ||
निवली करम बहु बिसथार ॥
You may make a great show of cleansing techniques,
ਧੂਪ ਦੀਪ ਕਰਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਤੁਲਿ ਨ ਲਾਗੇ ॥
Dhhoop Dheep Karathae Har Naam Thul N Laagae ||
धूप दीप करते हरि नाम तुलि न लागे ॥
And burn incense and devotional lamps, but none of these are equal to the Lord's Name.
ਰਾਮ ਦਇਆਰ ਸੁਨਿ ਦੀਨ ਬੇਨਤੀ ॥
Raam Dhaeiaar Sun Dheen Baenathee ||
राम दइआर सुनि दीन बेनती ॥
O Merciful Lord, please hear the prayer of the meek and the poor.
ਦੇਹੁ ਦਰਸੁ ਨੈਨ ਪੇਖਉ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਮਿਸਟ ਲਾਗੇ ॥੨॥੨॥੧੩੧॥
Dhaehu Dharas Nain Paekho Jan Naanak Naam Misatt Laagae ||2||2||131||
देहु दरसु नैन पेखउ जन नानक नाम मिसट लागे ॥२॥२॥१३१॥
Please grant me the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan, that I may see You with my eyes. The Naam is so sweet to servant Nanak. ||2||2||131||
