ੴ ਸਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਅਜੂਨੀ ਸੈਭੰ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

अपुने ठाकुर की हउ चेरी ॥
I am the hand-maiden of my Lord and Master.
ਚਰਨ ਗਹੇ ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਨਿਬੇਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Charan Gehae Jagajeevan Prabh Kae Houmai Maar Nibaeree ||1|| Rehaao ||
चरन गहे जगजीवन प्रभ के हउमै मारि निबेरी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
I have grasped the Feet of God, the Life of the world. He has killed and eradicated my egotism. ||1||Pause||

पूरन परम जोति परमेसर प्रीतम प्रान हमारे ॥
He is the Perfect, Supreme Light, the Supreme Lord God, my Beloved, my Breath of Life.
ਮੋਹਨ ਮੋਹਿ ਲੀਆ ਮਨੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਮਝਸਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
Mohan Mohi Leeaa Man Maeraa Samajhas Sabadh Beechaarae ||1||
मोहन मोहि लीआ मनु मेरा समझसि सबदु बीचारे ॥१॥
The Fascinating Lord has fascinated my mind; contemplating the Word of the Shabad, I have come to understand. ||1||
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਹੀਨ ਹੋਛੀ ਮਤਿ ਝੂਠੀ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਪੀਰ ਸਰੀਰੇ ॥
Manamukh Heen Hoshhee Math Jhoothee Man Than Peer Sareerae ||
मनमुख हीन होछी मति झूठी मनि तनि पीर सरीरे ॥
The worthless self-willed manmukh, with false and shallow understanding - his mind and body are held in pain's grip.
ਜਬ ਕੀ ਰਾਮ ਰੰਗੀਲੈ ਰਾਤੀ ਰਾਮ ਜਪਤ ਮਨ ਧੀਰੇ ॥੨॥
Jab Kee Raam Rangeelai Raathee Raam Japath Man Dhheerae ||2||
जब की राम रंगीलै राती राम जपत मन धीरे ॥२॥
Since I came to be imbued with the Love of my Beautiful Lord, I meditate on the Lord, and my mind is encouraged. ||2||
ਹਉਮੈ ਛੋਡਿ ਭਈ ਬੈਰਾਗਨਿ ਤਬ ਸਾਚੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਸਮਾਨੀ ॥
Houmai Shhodd Bhee Bairaagan Thab Saachee Surath Samaanee ||
हउमै छोडि भई बैरागनि तब साची सुरति समानी ॥
Abandoning egotism, I have become detached. And now, I absorb true intuitive understanding.
ਅਕੁਲ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਸਿਉ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਬਿਸਰੀ ਲਾਜ ਲਕਾਨੀ ॥੩॥
Akul Niranjan Sio Man Maaniaa Bisaree Laaj Luokaanee ||3||
अकुल निरंजन सिउ मनु मानिआ बिसरी लाज लोकानी ॥३॥
The mind is pleased and appeased by the Pure, Immaculate Lord; the opinions of other people are irrelevant. ||3||
ਭੂਰ ਭਵਿਖ ਨਾਹੀ ਤੁਮ ਜੈਸੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰਾ ॥
Bhoor Bhavikh Naahee Thum Jaisae Maerae Preetham Praan Adhhaaraa ||
भूर भविख नाही तुम जैसे मेरे प्रीतम प्रान अधारा ॥
There is no other like You, in the past or in the future, O my Beloved, my Breath of Life, my Support.
ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੀ ਸੋਹਾਗਨਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਮ ਭਤਾਰਾ ॥੪॥੧॥
Har Kai Naam Rathee Sohaagan Naanak Raam Bhathaaraa ||4||1||
हरि कै नामि रती सोहागनि नानक राम भतारा ॥४॥१॥
The soul-bride is imbued with the Name of the Lord; O Nanak, the Lord is her Husband. ||4||1||

Saarang, First Mehl:
ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਿਉ ਰਹੀਐ ਦੁਖੁ ਬਿਆਪੈ ॥
Har Bin Kio Reheeai Dhukh Biaapai ||
हरि बिनु किउ रहीऐ दुखु बिआपै ॥
How can I survive without the Lord? I am suffering in pain.
ਜਿਹਵਾ ਸਾਦੁ ਨ ਫੀਕੀ ਰਸ ਬਿਨੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾਲੁ ਸੰਤਾਪੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Jihavaa Saadh N Feekee Ras Bin Bin Prabh Kaal Santhaapai ||1|| Rehaao ||
जिहवा सादु न फीकी रस बिनु बिनु प्रभ कालु संतापै ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
My tongue does not taste - all is bland without the Lord's sublime essence. Without God, I suffer and die. ||1||Pause||
ਜਬ ਲਗੁ ਦਰਸੁ ਨ ਪਰਸੈ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਤਬ ਲਗੁ ਭੂਖ ਪਿਆਸੀ ॥
Jab Lag Dharas N Parasai Preetham Thab Lag Bhookh Piaasee ||
जब लगु दरसु न परसै प्रीतम तब लगु भूख पिआसी ॥
As long as I do not attain the Blessed Vision of my Beloved, I remain hungry and thirsty.
ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਖਤ ਹੀ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਜਲ ਰਸਿ ਕਮਲ ਬਿਗਾਸੀ ॥੧॥
Dharasan Dhaekhath Hee Man Maaniaa Jal Ras Kamal Bigaasee ||1||
दरसनु देखत ही मनु मानिआ जल रसि कमल बिगासी ॥१॥
Gazing upon the Blessed Vision of His Darshan, my mind is pleased and appeased. The lotus blossoms forth in the water. ||1||
ਊਨਵਿ ਘਨਹਰੁ ਗਰਜੈ ਬਰਸੈ ਕੋਕਿਲ ਮੋਰ ਬੈਰਾਗੈ ॥
Oonav Ghanehar Garajai Barasai Kokil Mor Bairaagai ||
ऊनवि घनहरु गरजै बरसै कोकिल मोर बैरागै ॥
The low-hanging clouds crack with thunder and burst. The cuckoos and the peacocks are filled with passion,
ਤਰਵਰ ਬਿਰਖ ਬਿਹੰਗ ਭੁਇਅੰਗਮ ਘਰਿ ਪਿਰੁ ਧਨ ਸੋਹਾਗੈ ॥੨॥
Tharavar Birakh Bihang Bhueiangam Ghar Pir Dhhan Sohaagai ||2||
तरवर बिरख बिहंग भुइअंगम घरि पिरु धन सोहागै ॥२॥
Along with the birds in the trees, the bulls and the snakes. The soul-bride is happy when her Husband Lord returns home. ||2||
ਕੁਚਿਲ ਕੁਰੂਪਿ ਕੁਨਾਰਿ ਕੁਲਖਨੀ ਪਿਰ ਕਾ ਸਹਜੁ ਨ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥
Kuchil Kuroop Kunaar Kulakhanee Pir Kaa Sehaj N Jaaniaa ||
कुचिल कुरूपि कुनारि कुलखनी पिर का सहजु न जानिआ ॥
She is filthy and ugly, unfeminine and ill-mannered - she has no intuitive understanding of her Husband Lord.
ਹਰਿ ਰਸ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਸਨ ਨਹੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤੀ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਦੂਖ ਸਮਾਨਿਆ ॥੩॥
Har Ras Rang Rasan Nehee Thripathee Dhuramath Dhookh Samaaniaa ||3||
हरि रस रंगि रसन नही त्रिपती दुरमति दूख समानिआ ॥३॥
She is not satisfied by the sublime essence of her Lord's Love; she is evil-minded, immersed in her pain. ||3||
ਆਇ ਨ ਜਾਵੈ ਨਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਨਾ ਦੁਖ ਦਰਦੁ ਸਰੀਰੇ ॥
Aae N Jaavai Naa Dhukh Paavai Naa Dhukh Dharadh Sareerae ||
आइ न जावै ना दुखु पावै ना दुख दरदु सरीरे ॥
The soul-bride does not come and go in reincarnation or suffer in pain; her body is not touched by the pain of disease.
ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇ ਸਹਜ ਸੁਹੇਲੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੇਖਤ ਹੀ ਮਨੁ ਧੀਰੇ ॥੪॥੨॥
Naanak Prabh Thae Sehaj Suhaelee Prabh Dhaekhath Hee Man Dhheerae ||4||2||
नानक प्रभ ते सहज सुहेली प्रभ देखत ही मनु धीरे ॥४॥२॥
O Nanak, she is intuitively embellished by God; seeing God, her mind is encouraged. ||4||2||

ਦੂਰਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਮੇਰੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ॥
Dhoor Naahee Maero Prabh Piaaraa ||
दूरि नाही मेरो प्रभु पिआरा ॥
My Beloved Lord God is not far away.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬਚਨਿ ਮੇਰੋ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਏ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Sathigur Bachan Maero Man Maaniaa Har Paaeae Praan Adhhaaraa ||1|| Rehaao ||
सतिगुर बचनि मेरो मनु मानिआ हरि पाए प्रान अधारा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
