Par Dhhan Par Naaree Rath Nindhaa Bikh Khaaee Dhukh Paaeiaa ||
पर धन पर नारी रतु निंदा बिखु खाई दुखु पाइआ ॥
Caught in slander and attachment to the wealth and women of others, they eat poison and suffer in pain.
ਸਬਦੁ ਚੀਨਿ ਭੈ ਕਪਟ ਨ ਛੂਟੇ ਮਨਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
Sabadh Cheen Bhai Kapatt N Shhoottae Man Mukh Maaeiaa Maaeiaa ||
सबदु चीनि भै कपट न छूटे मनि मुखि माइआ माइआ ॥
They think about the Shabad, but they are not released from their fear and fraud; the minds and mouths are filled with Maya, Maya.
ਅਜਗਰਿ ਭਾਰਿ ਲਦੇ ਅਤਿ ਭਾਰੀ ਮਰਿ ਜਨਮੇ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
Ajagar Bhaar Ladhae Ath Bhaaree Mar Janamae Janam Gavaaeiaa ||1||
अजगरि भारि लदे अति भारी मरि जनमे जनमु गवाइआ ॥१॥
Loading the heavy and crushing load, they die, only to be reborn, and waste their lives again. ||1||

मनि भावै सबदु सुहाइआ ॥
The Word of the Shabad is so very beautiful; it is pleasing to my mind.

भ्रमि भ्रमि जोनि भेख बहु कीन्हे गुरि राखे सचु पाइआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
The mortal wanders lost in reincarnation, wearing various robes and clothes; when he is saved and protected by the Guru, then he finds the Truth. ||1||Pause||
ਤੀਰਥਿ ਤੇਜੁ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ ਨ ਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਭਾਇਆ ॥
Theerathh Thaej Nivaar N Nhaathae Har Kaa Naam N Bhaaeiaa ||
तीरथि तेजु निवारि न न्हाते हरि का नामु न भाइआ ॥
He does not try to wash away his angry passions by bathing at sacred shrines. He does not love the Name of the Lord.
ਰਤਨ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਪਰਹਰਿ ਤਿਆਗਿਆ ਜਤ ਕੋ ਤਤ ਹੀ ਆਇਆ ॥
Rathan Padhaarathh Parehar Thiaagiaa Jath Ko Thath Hee Aaeiaa ||
रतन पदारथु परहरि तिआगिआ जत को तत ही आइआ ॥
He abandons and discards the priceless jewel, and he goes back from where he came.
ਬਿਸਟਾ ਕੀਟ ਭਏ ਉਤ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਉਤ ਹੀ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥
Bisattaa Keett Bheae Outh Hee Thae Outh Hee Maahi Samaaeiaa ||
बिसटा कीट भए उत ही ते उत ही माहि समाइआ ॥
And so he becomes a maggot in manure, and in that, he is absorbed.
ਅਧਿਕ ਸੁਆਦ ਰੋਗ ਅਧਿਕਾਈ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਹਜੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
Adhhik Suaadh Rog Adhhikaaee Bin Gur Sehaj N Paaeiaa ||2||
अधिक सुआद रोग अधिकाई बिनु गुर सहजु न पाइआ ॥२॥
The more he tastes, the more he is diseased; without the Guru, there is no peace and poise. ||2||
ਸੇਵਾ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਰਹਸਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥
Saevaa Surath Rehas Gun Gaavaa Guramukh Giaan Beechaaraa ||
सेवा सुरति रहसि गुण गावा गुरमुखि गिआनु बीचारा ॥
Focusing my awareness on selfless service, I joyfully sing His Praises. As Gurmukh, I contemplate spiritual wisdom.
ਖੋਜੀ ਉਪਜੈ ਬਾਦੀ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਹਉ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਗੁਰ ਕਰਤਾਰਾ ॥
Khojee Oupajai Baadhee Binasai Ho Bal Bal Gur Karathaaraa ||
खोजी उपजै बादी बिनसै हउ बलि बलि गुर करतारा ॥
The seeker comes forth, and the debater dies down; I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice to the Guru, the Creator Lord.
ਹਮ ਨੀਚ ਹਤੇ ਹੀਣਮਤਿ ਝੂਠੇ ਤੂ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਵਾਰਣਹਾਰਾ ॥
Ham Neech Huothae Heenamath Jhoothae Thoo Sabadh Savaaranehaaraa ||
हम नीच होते हीणमति झूठे तू सबदि सवारणहारा ॥
I am low and wretched, with shallow and false understanding; You embellish and exalt me through the Word of Your Shabad.
ਆਤਮ ਚੀਨਿ ਤਹਾ ਤੂ ਤਾਰਣ ਸਚੁ ਤਾਰੇ ਤਾਰਣਹਾਰਾ ॥੩॥
Aatham Cheen Thehaa Thoo Thaaran Sach Thaarae Thaaranehaaraa ||3||
आतम चीनि तहा तू तारण सचु तारे तारणहारा ॥३॥
And wherever there is self-realization, You are there; O True Lord Savior, You save us and carry us across. ||3||
ਬੈਸਿ ਸੁਥਾਨਿ ਕਹਾਂ ਗੁਣ ਤੇਰੇ ਕਿਆ ਕਿਆ ਕਥਉ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
Bais Suthhaan Kehaan Gun Thaerae Kiaa Kiaa Kathho Apaaraa ||
बैसि सुथानि कहां गुण तेरे किआ किआ कथउ अपारा ॥
Where should I sit to chant Your Praises; which of Your Infinite Praises should I chant?
ਅਲਖੁ ਨ ਲਖੀਐ ਅਗਮੁ ਅਜੋਨੀ ਤੂੰ ਨਾਥਾਂ ਨਾਥਣਹਾਰਾ ॥
Alakh N Lakheeai Agam Ajonee Thoon Naathhaan Naathhanehaaraa ||
अलखु न लखीऐ अगमु अजोनी तूं नाथां नाथणहारा ॥
The Unknown cannot be known; O Inaccessible, Unborn Lord God, You are the Lord and Master of masters.
ਕਿਸੁ ਪਹਿ ਦੇਖਿ ਕਹਉ ਤੂ ਕੈਸਾ ਸਭਿ ਜਾਚਕ ਤੂ ਦਾਤਾਰਾ ॥
Kis Pehi Dhaekh Keho Thoo Kaisaa Sabh Jaachak Thoo Dhaathaaraa ||
किसु पहि देखि कहउ तू कैसा सभि जाचक तू दातारा ॥
How can I compare You to anyone else I see? All are beggars - You are the Great Giver.
ਭਗਤਿਹੀਣੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਦਰਿ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਇਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਾ ॥੪॥੩॥
Bhagathiheen Naanak Dhar Dhaekhahu Eik Naam Milai Our Dhhaaraa ||4||3||
भगतिहीणु नानकु दरि देखहु इकु नामु मिलै उरि धारा ॥४॥३॥
Lacking devotion, Nanak looks to Your Door; please bless him with Your One Name, that he may enshrine it in his heart. ||4||3||

Jin Dhhan Pir Kaa Saadh N Jaaniaa Saa Bilakh Badhan Kumalaanee ||
जिनि धन पिर का सादु न जानिआ सा बिलख बदन कुमलानी ॥
The soul-bride who has not known delight with her Husband Lord, shall weep and wail with a wretched face.
ਭਈ ਨਿਰਾਸੀ ਕਰਮ ਕੀ ਫਾਸੀ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਨੀ ॥੧॥
Bhee Niraasee Karam Kee Faasee Bin Gur Bharam Bhulaanee ||1||
भई निरासी करम की फासी बिनु गुर भरमि भुलानी ॥१॥
She becomes hopeless, caught in the noose of her own karma; without the Guru, she wanders deluded by doubt. ||1||
ਬਰਸੁ ਘਨਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਘਰਿ ਆਇਆ ॥
Baras Ghanaa Maeraa Pir Ghar Aaeiaa ||
बरसु घना मेरा पिरु घरि आइआ ॥
So rain down, O clouds. My Husband Lord has come home.
ਬਲਿ ਜਾਵਾਂ ਗੁਰ ਅਪਨੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਣਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Bal Jaavaan Gur Apanae Preetham Jin Har Prabh Aan Milaaeiaa ||1|| Rehaao ||
बलि जावां गुर अपने प्रीतम जिनि हरि प्रभु आणि मिलाइआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
I am a sacrifice to my Guru, who has led me to meet my Lord God. ||1||Pause||
ਨਉਤਨ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਸਦਾ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਸਿਉ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਸੁਹਾਵੀ ॥
Nouthan Preeth Sadhaa Thaakur Sio Anadhin Bhagath Suhaavee ||
नउतन प्रीति सदा ठाकुर सिउ अनदिनु भगति सुहावी ॥
My love, my Lord and Master is forever fresh; I am embellished with devotional worship night and day.
ਮੁਕਤਿ ਭਏ ਗੁਰਿ ਦਰਸੁ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ਜੁਗਿ ਜੁਗਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਸੁਭਾਵੀ ॥੨॥
Mukath Bheae Gur Dharas Dhikhaaeiaa Jug Jug Bhagath Subhaavee ||2||
मुकति भए गुरि दरसु दिखाइआ जुगि जुगि भगति सुभावी ॥२॥
I am liberated, gazing on the Blessed Vision of the Guru's Darshan. Devotional worship has made me glorious and exalted throughout the ages. ||2||
ਹਮ ਥਾਰੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣ ਜਗੁ ਤੁਮਰਾ ਤੂ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਉ ਤੇਰਾ ॥
Ham Thhaarae Thribhavan Jag Thumaraa Thoo Maeraa Ho Thaeraa ||
हम थारे त्रिभवण जगु तुमरा तू मेरा हउ तेरा ॥
I am Yours; the three worlds are Yours as well. You are mine, and I am Yours.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਭਵਜਲਿ ਫੇਰਾ ॥੩॥
Sathigur Miliai Niranjan Paaeiaa Bahur N Bhavajal Faeraa ||3||
सतिगुरि मिलिऐ निरंजनु पाइआ बहुरि न भवजलि फेरा ॥३॥
Meeting with the True Guru, I have found the Immaculate Lord; I shall not be consigned to this terrifying world-ocean ever again. ||3||
ਅਪੁਨੇ ਪਿਰ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਖਿ ਵਿਗਾਸੀ ਤਉ ਧਨ ਸਾਚੁ ਸੀਗਾਰੋ ॥
Apunae Pir Har Dhaekh Vigaasee Tho Dhhan Saach Seegaaro ||
अपुने पिर हरि देखि विगासी तउ धन साचु सीगारो ॥
If the soul-bride is filled with delight on seeing her Husband Lord, then her decorations are true.
ਅਕੁਲ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਸਿਉ ਸਚਿ ਸਾਚੀ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੋ ॥੪॥
Akul Niranjan Sio Sach Saachee Guramath Naam Adhhaaro ||4||
अकुल निरंजन सिउ सचि साची गुरमति नामु अधारो ॥४॥
With the Immaculate Celestial Lord, she becomes the truest of the true. Following the Guru's Teachings, she leans on the Support of the Naam. ||4||
ਮੁਕਤਿ ਭਈ ਬੰਧਨ ਗੁਰਿ ਖੋਲ੍ਹ੍ਹੇ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਪਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
Mukath Bhee Bandhhan Gur Kholhae Sabadh Surath Path Paaee ||
मुकति भई बंधन गुरि खोल्हे सबदि सुरति पति पाई ॥
She is liberated; the Guru has untied her bonds. Focusing her awareness on the Shabad, she attains honor.
ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ॥੫॥੪॥

नानक राम नामु रिद अंतरि गुरमुखि मेलि मिलाई ॥५॥४॥
O Nanak, the Lord's Name is deep within her heart; as Gurmukh, she is united in His Union. ||5||4||

पर दारा पर धनु पर लोभा हउमै बिखै बिकार ॥
Others' wives others' wealth greed, egotism, corruption and poison;
ਦੁਸਟ ਭਾਉ ਤਜਿ ਨਿੰਦ ਪਰਾਈ ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਚੰਡਾਰ ॥੧॥
Dhusatt Bhaao Thaj Nindh Paraaee Kaam Krodhh Chanddaar ||1||
दुसट भाउ तजि निंद पराई कामु क्रोधु चंडार ॥१॥
Evil passions, slander of others, sexual desire and anger - give up all these. ||1||
