पूरन होत न कतहु बातहि अंति परती हारि ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Saanth Sookh N Sehaj Oupajai Eihai Eis Biouhaar ||
सांति सूख न सहजु उपजै इहै इसु बिउहारि ॥
It does not produce tranquility, peace and poise; this is the way it works.
ਆਪ ਪਰ ਕਾ ਕਛੁ ਨ ਜਾਨੈ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਹਿ ਜਾਰਿ ॥੧॥
Aap Par Kaa Kashh N Jaanai Kaam Krodhhehi Jaar ||1||
आप पर का कछु न जानै काम क्रोधहि जारि ॥१॥
He does not know what belongs to him, and to others. He burns in sexual desire and anger. ||1||

The world is enveloped by an ocean of pain; O Lord, please save Your slave!

रे पापी तै कवन की मति लीन ॥
O sinner, who taught you to sin?
ਨਿਮਖ ਘਰੀ ਨ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਦੀਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

निमख घरी न सिमरि सुआमी जीउ पिंडु जिनि दीन ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
You do not contemplate your Lord and Master, even for an instant; it was He who gave you your body and soul. ||1||Pause||
ਖਾਤ ਪੀਵਤ ਸਵੰਤ ਸੁਖੀਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਖੀਨ ॥
Khaath Peevath Savanth Sukheeaa Naam Simarath Kheen ||
खात पीवत सवंत सुखीआ नामु सिमरत खीन ॥
Eating, drinking and sleeping, you are happy, but contemplating the Naam, the Name of the Lord, you are miserable.
ਗਰਭ ਉਦਰ ਬਿਲਲਾਟ ਕਰਤਾ ਤਹਾਂ ਹੋਵਤ ਦੀਨ ॥੧॥
Garabh Oudhar Bilalaatt Karathaa Thehaan Hovath Dheen ||1||
गरभ उदर बिललाट करता तहां होवत दीन ॥१॥
In the womb of your mother, you cried and whined like a wretch. ||1||

महा माद बिकार बाधा अनिक जोनि भ्रमीन ॥
And now, bound by great pride and corruption, you shall wander in endless incarnations.

ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪੇਖਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਮੋਹਿਓ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਜਾਤ ਬਹੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

दरसनु पेखि मेरा मनु मोहिओ दुरमति जात बही ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Gazing upon the Blessed Vision of His Darshan, my mind is fascinated, and evil-mindedness is taken away. ||1||Pause||
ਅਗਹ ਅਗਾਧਿ ਊਚ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਜਾਤ ਨ ਕਹੀ ॥

अगह अगाधि ऊच अबिनासी कीमति जात न कही ॥
He is Unfathomable, Incomprehensible, Exalted and High, Eternal and Imperishable; His worth cannot be appraised.
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਪੇਖਿ ਪੇਖਿ ਮਨੁ ਬਿਗਸਿਓ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਸ੍ਰਬ ਮਹੀ ॥੧॥
Jal Thhal Paekh Paekh Man Bigasiou Poor Rehiou Srab Mehee ||1||
जलि थलि पेखि पेखि मनु बिगसिओ पूरि रहिओ स्रब मही ॥१॥
Gazing upon Him, gazing upon Him in the water and on the land, my mind has blossomed forth in ecstasy. He is totally pervading and permeating all. ||1||

दीन दइआल प्रीतम मनमोहन मिलि साधह कीनो सही ॥
Merciful to the meek, my Beloved, Enticer of my mind; meeting with the Holy, He is known.

निरमल भए ऊजल जसु गावत बहुरि न होवत कारो ॥
I have become spotless and pure, singing the Sacred Praises of the Lord; I shall never again be dirtied.

करु गहि लीने सरबसु दीने दीपक भइओ उजारो ॥
Taking me by the hand, He has given me everything; He has lit up my lamp.

तिआगि गोबिदु जीअन को दाता माइआ संगि लपटाहि ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Forsaking the Lord of the Universe, the Giver of souls, the mortal is engrossed and entangled in Maya. ||1||Pause||
ਨਾਮੁ ਬਿਸਾਰਿ ਚਲਹਿ ਅਨ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਨਰਕ ਘੋਰ ਮਹਿ ਪਾਹਿ ॥
Naam Bisaar Chalehi An Maarag Narak Ghor Mehi Paahi ||
नामु बिसारि चलहि अन मारगि नरक घोर महि पाहि ॥
Forgetting the Naam, the Name of the Lord, he walks on some other path, and falls into the most horrible hell.
ਅਨਿਕ ਸਜਾਂਈ ਗਣਤ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਗਰਭੈ ਗਰਭਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
Anik Sajaanee Ganath N Aavai Garabhai Garabh Bhramaahi ||1||
अनिक सजांई गणत न आवै गरभै गरभि भ्रमाहि ॥१॥
He suffers uncounted punishments, and wanders from womb to womb in reincarnation. ||1||
ਸੇ ਧਨਵੰਤੇ ਸੇ ਪਤਿਵੰਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥
Sae Dhhanavanthae Sae Pathivanthae Har Kee Saran Samaahi ||
से धनवंते से पतिवंते हरि की सरणि समाहि ॥
They alone are wealthy, and they alone are honorable, who are absorbed in the Sanctuary of the Lord.
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਗੁ ਜੀਤਿਓ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਆਵਹਿ ਜਾਂਹਿ ॥੨॥੮੮॥੧੧੧॥
Gur Prasaadh Naanak Jag Jeethiou Bahur N Aavehi Jaanhi ||2||88||111||
गुर प्रसादि नानक जगु जीतिओ बहुरि न आवहि जांहि ॥२॥८८॥१११॥
By Guru's Grace, O Nanak, they conquer the world; they do not come and go in reincarnation ever again. ||2||88||111||

Bhram Ban Dhehan Bheae Khin Bheethar Raam Naam Parehaar ||1|| Rehaao ||
भ्रम बन दहन भए खिन भीतरि राम नाम परहारि ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
The forest of doubt is burnt away in an instant, by the fire of the Lord's Name. ||1||Pause||
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਪਰਹਰੀਆ ਕਾਢੇ ਸਾਧੂ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਾਰਿ ॥
Kaam Krodhh Nindhaa Parehareeaa Kaadtae Saadhhoo Kai Sang Maar ||
काम क्रोध निंदा परहरीआ काढे साधू कै संगि मारि ॥
Sexual desire, anger and slander are gone; in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, I have beaten them and driven them out.
