ਅੰਤਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਵੈਰ ਵਿਰੋਧੁ ਕੋ ਸਕੈ ਨ ਛਡਾਇਆ ॥
Anth Hovai Vair Virodhh Ko Sakai N Shhaddaaeiaa ||
अंति होवै वैर विरोधु को सकै न छडाइआ ॥
In the end, hatred and conflict well up, and no one can save him.
ਨਾਨਕ ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਲਗਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੩੨॥
Naanak Vin Naavai Dhhrig Mohu Jith Lag Dhukh Paaeiaa ||32||
नानक विणु नावै ध्रिगु मोहु जितु लगि दुखु पाइआ ॥३२॥
O Nanak, without the Name, those loving attachments are cursed; engrossed in them, he suffers in pain. ||32||

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਤੁ ਖਾਧੈ ਸਭ ਭੁਖ ਜਾਇ ॥
Guramukh Anmrith Naam Hai Jith Khaadhhai Sabh Bhukh Jaae ||
गुरमुखि अम्रितु नामु है जितु खाधै सभ भुख जाइ ॥
The Guru's Word is the Ambrosial Nectar of the Naam. Eating it, all hunger departs.
ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥
Thrisanaa Mool N Hovee Naam Vasai Man Aae ||
त्रिसना मूलि न होवई नामु वसै मनि आइ ॥
There is no thirst or desire at all, when the Naam comes to dwell in the mind.
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਜਿ ਹੋਰੁ ਖਾਣਾ ਤਿਤੁ ਰੋਗੁ ਲਗੈ ਤਨਿ ਧਾਇ ॥
Bin Naavai J Hor Khaanaa Thith Rog Lagai Than Dhhaae ||
बिनु नावै जि होरु खाणा तितु रोगु लगै तनि धाइ ॥
Eating anything other than the Name, disease runs to afflict the body.
ਨਾਨਕ ਰਸ ਕਸ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਲਾਹਣਾ ਆਪੇ ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੧॥
Naanak Ras Kas Sabadh Salaahanaa Aapae Leae Milaae ||1||
नानक रस कस सबदु सलाहणा आपे लए मिलाइ ॥१॥
O Nanak, whoever takes the Praise of the Shabad as his spices and flavors - the Lord unites him in His Union. ||1||

ਜੀਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਸਬਦੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਤੁ ਸਹ ਮੇਲਾਵਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
Jeeaa Andhar Jeeo Sabadh Hai Jith Seh Maelaavaa Hoe ||
जीआ अंदरि जीउ सबदु है जितु सह मेलावा होइ ॥
The life within all living beings is the Word of the Shabad. Through it, we meet our Husband Lord.
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਜਗਿ ਆਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੇਰੁ ਹੈ ਸਬਦੇ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
Bin Sabadhai Jag Aanhaer Hai Sabadhae Paragatt Hoe ||
बिनु सबदै जगि आन्हेरु है सबदे परगटु होइ ॥
Without the Shabad, the world is in darkness. Through the Shabad, it is enlightened.
ਪੰਡਿਤ ਮੋਨੀ ਪੜਿ ਪੜਿ ਥਕੇ ਭੇਖ ਥਕੇ ਤਨੁ ਧੋਇ ॥
Panddith Monee Parr Parr Thhakae Bhaekh Thhakae Than Dhhoe ||
पंडित मोनी पड़ि पड़ि थके भेख थके तनु धोइ ॥
The Pandits, the religious scholars, and the silent sages read and write until they are weary. The religious fanatics are tired of washing their bodies.
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਇਓ ਦੁਖੀਏ ਚਲੇ ਰੋਇ ॥
Bin Sabadhai Kinai N Paaeiou Dhukheeeae Chalae Roe ||
बिनु सबदै किनै न पाइओ दुखीए चले रोइ ॥
Without the Shabad, no one attains the Lord; the miserable depart weeping and wailing.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਦਰੀ ਪਾਈਐ ਕਰਮਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥

नानक नदरी पाईऐ करमि परापति होइ ॥२॥
O Nanak, by His Glance of Grace, the Merciful Lord is attained. ||2||

इसत्री पुरखै अति नेहु बहि मंदु पकाइआ ॥
The husband and wife are very much in love; sitting together, they make evil plans.
ਦਿਸਦਾ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਚਲਸੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਇਆ ॥
Dhisadhaa Sabh Kishh Chalasee Maerae Prabh Bhaaeiaa ||
दिसदा सभु किछु चलसी मेरे प्रभ भाइआ ॥
All that is seen shall pass away. This is the Will of my God.
ਕਿਉ ਰਹੀਐ ਥਿਰੁ ਜਗਿ ਕੋ ਕਢਹੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥
Kio Reheeai Thhir Jag Ko Kadtahu Oupaaeiaa ||
किउ रहीऐ थिरु जगि को कढहु उपाइआ ॥
How can anyone remain in this world forever? Some may try to devise a plan.
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੀ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਥਿਰੁ ਕੰਧੁ ਸਬਾਇਆ ॥
Gur Poorae Kee Chaakaree Thhir Kandhh Sabaaeiaa ||
गुर पूरे की चाकरी थिरु कंधु सबाइआ ॥
Working for the Perfect Guru, the wall becomes permanent and stable.
ਨਾਨਕ ਬਖਸਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਅਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੩੩॥
Naanak Bakhas Milaaeian Har Naam Samaaeiaa ||33||
नानक बखसि मिलाइअनु हरि नामि समाइआ ॥३३॥
O Nanak, the Lord forgives them, and merges them into Himself; they are absorbed in the Lord's Name. ||33||

ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਭਉ ਹੇਤੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥
Maaeiaa Mohi Visaariaa Gur Kaa Bho Haeth Apaar ||
माइआ मोहि विसारिआ गुर का भउ हेतु अपारु ॥
Attached to Maya, the mortal forgets the Fear of God and Guru, and love for the Infinite Lord.
ਲੋਭਿ ਲਹਰਿ ਸੁਧਿ ਮਤਿ ਗਈ ਸਚਿ ਨ ਲਗੈ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
Lobh Lehar Sudhh Math Gee Sach N Lagai Piaar ||
लोभि लहरि सुधि मति गई सचि न लगै पिआरु ॥
The waves of greed take away his wisdom and understanding, and he does not embrace love for the True Lord.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਿਨਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਦਰਗਹ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥
Guramukh Jinaa Sabadh Man Vasai Dharageh Mokh Dhuaar ||
गुरमुखि जिना सबदु मनि वसै दरगह मोख दुआरु ॥
The Word of the Shabad abides in the mind of the Gurmukhs, who find the Gate of Salvation.
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਲਏ ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
Naanak Aapae Mael Leae Aapae Bakhasanehaar ||1||
नानक आपे मेलि लए आपे बखसणहारु ॥१॥
O Nanak, the Lord Himself forgives them, and unites them in Union with Himself. ||1||

Fourth Mehl:
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਘੜੀ ਨ ਜੀਵਣਾ ਵਿਸਰੇ ਸਰੈ ਨ ਬਿੰਦ ॥
Naanak Jis Bin Gharree N Jeevanaa Visarae Sarai N Bindh ||
नानक जिसु बिनु घड़ी न जीवणा विसरे सरै न बिंद ॥
O Nanak, without Him, we could not live for a moment. Forgetting Him, we could not succeed for an instant.
ਤਿਸੁ ਸਿਉ ਕਿਉ ਮਨ ਰੂਸੀਐ ਜਿਸਹਿ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਚਿੰਦ ॥੨॥
This Sio Kio Man Rooseeai Jisehi Hamaaree Chindh ||2||
तिसु सिउ किउ मन रूसीऐ जिसहि हमारी चिंद ॥२॥
O mortal, how can you be angry with the One who cares for you? ||2||

Saavan Aaeiaa Jhimajhimaa Har Guramukh Naam Dhhiaae ||
सावणु आइआ झिमझिमा हरि गुरमुखि नामु धिआइ ॥
The rainy season of Saawan has come. The Gurmukh meditates on the Lord's Name.
ਦੁਖ ਭੁਖ ਕਾੜਾ ਸਭੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਸੀ ਮੀਹੁ ਵੁਠਾ ਛਹਬਰ ਲਾਇ ॥
Dhukh Bhukh Kaarraa Sabh Chukaaeisee Meehu Vuthaa Shhehabar Laae ||
दुख भुख काड़ा सभु चुकाइसी मीहु वुठा छहबर लाइ ॥
All pain, hunger and misfortune end, when the rain falls in torrents.
ਸਭ ਧਰਤਿ ਭਈ ਹਰੀਆਵਲੀ ਅੰਨੁ ਜੰਮਿਆ ਬੋਹਲ ਲਾਇ ॥
Sabh Dhharath Bhee Hareeaavalee Ann Janmiaa Bohal Laae ||
सभ धरति भई हरीआवली अंनु जमिआ बोहल लाइ ॥
The entire earth is rejuvenated, and the grain grows in abundance.
ਹਰਿ ਅਚਿੰਤੁ ਬੁਲਾਵੈ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਪਾਵੈ ਥਾਇ ॥
Har Achinth Bulaavai Kirapaa Kar Har Aapae Paavai Thhaae ||
हरि अचिंतु बुलावै क्रिपा करि हरि आपे पावै थाइ ॥
The Carefree Lord, by His Grace, summons that mortal whom the Lord Himself approves.
ਹਰਿ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਹੁ ਜੁ ਅੰਤੇ ਲਏ ਛਡਾਇ ॥
Har Thisehi Dhhiaavahu Santh Janahu J Anthae Leae Shhaddaae ||
हरि तिसहि धिआवहु संत जनहु जु अंते लए छडाइ ॥
So meditate on the Lord, O Saints; He shall save you in the end.
ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਹੈ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥
Har Keerath Bhagath Anandh Hai Sadhaa Sukh Vasai Man Aae ||
हरि कीरति भगति अनंदु है सदा सुखु वसै मनि आइ ॥
The Kirtan of the Lord's Praises and devotion to Him is bliss; peace shall come to dwell in the mind.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਰਾਧਿਆ ਤਿਨਾ ਦੁਖ ਭੁਖ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
Jinhaa Guramukh Naam Araadhhiaa Thinaa Dhukh Bhukh Lehi Jaae ||
जिन्हा गुरमुखि नामु अराधिआ तिना दुख भुख लहि जाइ ॥
Those Gurmukhs who worship the Naam, the Name of the Lord - their pain and hunger departs.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤੈ ਗਾਇ ਗੁਣ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਹੁ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥੩॥
Jan Naanak Thripathai Gaae Gun Har Dharasan Dhaehu Subhaae ||3||
जन नानकु त्रिपतै गाइ गुण हरि दरसनु देहु सुभाइ ॥३॥
Servant Nanak is satisfied, singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. Please embellish him with the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan. ||3||

Gur Poorae Kee Dhaath Nith Dhaevai Charrai Savaaeeaa ||
गुर पूरे की दाति नित देवै चड़ै सवाईआ ॥
The Perfect Guru bestows His gifts, which increase day by day.
ਤੁਸਿ ਦੇਵੈ ਆਪਿ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਨ ਛਪੈ ਛਪਾਈਆ ॥
Thus Dhaevai Aap Dhaeiaal N Shhapai Shhapaaeeaa ||
तुसि देवै आपि दइआलु न छपै छपाईआ ॥
The Merciful Lord Himself bestows them; they cannot be concealed by concealment.
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਕਵਲੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ਉਨਮਨਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈਆ ॥
Hiradhai Kaval Pragaas Ounaman Liv Laaeeaa ||
हिरदै कवलु प्रगासु उनमनि लिव लाईआ ॥
The heart-lotus blossoms forth, and the mortal is lovingly absorbed in the state of supreme bliss.
ਜੇ ਕੋ ਕਰੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਰੀਸ ਸਿਰਿ ਛਾਈ ਪਾਈਆ ॥
Jae Ko Karae Ous Dhee Rees Sir Shhaaee Paaeeaa ||
जे को करे उस दी रीस सिरि छाई पाईआ ॥
If anyone tries to challenge him, the Lord throws dust on his head.
ਨਾਨਕ ਅਪੜਿ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਸਕਈ ਪੂਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈਆ ॥੩੪॥
Naanak Aparr Koe N Sakee Poorae Sathigur Kee Vaddiaaeeaa ||34||
नानक अपड़ि कोइ न सकई पूरे सतिगुर की वडिआईआ ॥३४॥
O Nanak, no one can equal the glory of the Perfect True Guru. ||34||
