Listen to the stories of the devotees, O my mind, and meditate with love.
ਅਜਾਮਲੁ ਉਧਰਿਆ ਕਹਿ ਏਕ ਬਾਰ ॥
Ajaamal Oudhhariaa Kehi Eaek Baar ||
अजामलु उधरिआ कहि एक बार ॥
Ajaamal uttered the Lord's Name once, and was saved.
ਬਾਲਮੀਕੈ ਹੋਆ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੁ ॥
Baalameekai Hoaa Saadhhasang ||
बालमीकै होआ साधसंगु ॥
Baalmeek found the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਧ੍ਰੂ ਕਉ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਸੰਗ ॥੧॥
Dhhroo Ko Miliaa Har Nisang ||1||
ध्रू कउ मिलिआ हरि निसंग ॥१॥
The Lord definitely met Dhroo. ||1||
ਤੇਰਿਆ ਸੰਤਾ ਜਾਚਉ ਚਰਨ ਰੇਨ ॥
Thaeriaa Santhaa Jaacho Charan Raen ||
तेरिआ संता जाचउ चरन रेन ॥
I beg for the dust of the feet of Your Saints.
ਲੇ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲਾਵਉ ਕਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਦੇਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Lae Masathak Laavo Kar Kirapaa Dhaen ||1|| Rehaao ||
ले मसतकि लावउ करि क्रिपा देन ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Please bless me with Your Mercy, Lord, that I may apply it to my forehead. ||1||Pause||
ਗਨਿਕਾ ਉਧਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਕਹੈ ਤੋਤ ॥
Ganikaa Oudhharee Har Kehai Thoth ||
गनिका उधरी हरि कहै तोत ॥
Ganika the prostitute was saved, when her parrot uttered the Lord's Name.
ਗਜਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਧਿਆਇਓ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਓ ਮੋਖ ॥
Gajaeindhr Dhhiaaeiou Har Keeou Mokh ||
गजइंद्र धिआइओ हरि कीओ मोख ॥
The elephant meditated on the Lord, and was saved.
ਬਿਪ੍ਰ ਸੁਦਾਮੇ ਦਾਲਦੁ ਭੰਜ ॥
Bipr Sudhaamae Dhaaladh Bhanj ||
बिप्र सुदामे दालदु भंज ॥
He delivered the poor Brahmin Sudama out of poverty.
ਰੇ ਮਨ ਤੂ ਭੀ ਭਜੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ॥੨॥
Rae Man Thoo Bhee Bhaj Gobindh ||2||
रे मन तू भी भजु गोबिंद ॥२॥
O my mind, you too must meditate and vibrate on the Lord of the Universe. ||2||
ਬਧਿਕੁ ਉਧਾਰਿਓ ਖਮਿ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰ ॥
Badhhik Oudhhaariou Kham Prehaar ||
बधिकु उधारिओ खमि प्रहार ॥
Even the hunter who shot an arrow at Krishna was saved.
ਕੁਬਿਜਾ ਉਧਰੀ ਅੰਗੁਸਟ ਧਾਰ ॥
Kubijaa Oudhharee Angusatt Dhhaar ||
कुबिजा उधरी अंगुसट धार ॥
Kubija the hunchback was saved, when God placed His Feet on her thumb.
ਬਿਦਰੁ ਉਧਾਰਿਓ ਦਾਸਤ ਭਾਇ ॥
Bidhar Oudhhaariou Dhaasath Bhaae ||
बिदरु उधारिओ दासत भाइ ॥
Bidar was saved by his attitude of humility.
ਰੇ ਮਨ ਤੂ ਭੀ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇ ॥੩॥
Rae Man Thoo Bhee Har Dhhiaae ||3||
रे मन तू भी हरि धिआइ ॥३॥
O my mind, you too must meditate on the Lord. ||3||
ਪ੍ਰਹਲਾਦ ਰਖੀ ਹਰਿ ਪੈਜ ਆਪ ॥
Prehalaadh Rakhee Har Paij Aap ||
प्रहलाद रखी हरि पैज आप ॥
The Lord Himself saved the honor of Prahlaad.
ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਛੀਨਤ ਦ੍ਰੋਪਤੀ ਰਖੀ ਲਾਜ ॥
Basathr Shheenath Dhropathee Rakhee Laaj ||
बसत्र छीनत द्रोपती रखी लाज ॥
Even when she was being disrobed in court, Dropatee's honor was preserved.
ਜਿਨਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਅੰਤ ਬਾਰ ॥
Jin Jin Saeviaa Anth Baar ||
जिनि जिनि सेविआ अंत बार ॥
Those who have served the Lord, even at the very last instant of their lives, are saved.
ਰੇ ਮਨ ਸੇਵਿ ਤੂ ਪਰਹਿ ਪਾਰ ॥੪॥

रे मन सेवि तू परहि पार ॥४॥
O my mind, serve Him, and you shall be carried across to the other side. ||4||
ਧੰਨੈ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਬਾਲ ਬੁਧਿ ॥
Dhhannai Saeviaa Baal Budhh ||
धंनै सेविआ बाल बुधि ॥
Dhanna served the Lord, with the innocence of a child.
ਤ੍ਰਿਲੋਚਨ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਭਈ ਸਿਧਿ ॥
Thrilochan Gur Mil Bhee Sidhh ||
त्रिलोचन गुर मिलि भई सिधि ॥
Meeting with the Guru, Trilochan attained the perfection of the Siddhas.
ਬੇਣੀ ਕਉ ਗੁਰਿ ਕੀਓ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ॥

बेणी कउ गुरि कीओ प्रगासु ॥
The Guru blessed Baynee with His Divine Illumination.
ਰੇ ਮਨ ਤੂ ਭੀ ਹੋਹਿ ਦਾਸੁ ॥੫॥
Rae Man Thoo Bhee Hohi Dhaas ||5||
रे मन तू भी होहि दासु ॥५॥
O my mind, you too must be the Lord's slave. ||5||
ਜੈਦੇਵ ਤਿਆਗਿਓ ਅਹੰਮੇਵ ॥
Jaidhaev Thiaagiou Ahanmaev ||
जैदेव तिआगिओ अहमेव ॥
Jai Dayv gave up his egotism.
ਨਾਈ ਉਧਰਿਓ ਸੈਨੁ ਸੇਵ ॥
Naaee Oudhhariou Sain Saev ||
नाई उधरिओ सैनु सेव ॥
Sain the barber was saved through his selfless service.
ਮਨੁ ਡੀਗਿ ਨ ਡੋਲੈ ਕਹੂੰ ਜਾਇ ॥
Man Ddeeg N Ddolai Kehoon Jaae ||
मनु डीगि न डोलै कहूं जाइ ॥
Do not let your mind waver or wander; do not let it go anywhere.
ਮਨ ਤੂ ਭੀ ਤਰਸਹਿ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਾਇ ॥੬॥
Man Thoo Bhee Tharasehi Saran Paae ||6||
मन तू भी तरसहि सरणि पाइ ॥६॥
O my mind, you too shall cross over; seek the Sanctuary of God. ||6||
ਜਿਹ ਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹੁ ਠਾਕੁਰਿ ਕੀਓ ਆਪਿ ॥
Jih Anugrahu Thaakur Keeou Aap ||
जिह अनुग्रहु ठाकुरि कीओ आपि ॥
O my Lord and Master, You have shown Your Mercy to them.
ਸੇ ਤੈਂ ਲੀਨੇ ਭਗਤ ਰਾਖਿ ॥
Sae Thain Leenae Bhagath Raakh ||
से तैं लीने भगत राखि ॥
You saved those devotees.
ਤਿਨ ਕਾ ਗੁਣੁ ਅਵਗਣੁ ਨ ਬੀਚਾਰਿਓ ਕੋਇ ॥
Thin Kaa Gun Avagan N Beechaariou Koe ||
तिन का गुणु अवगणु न बीचारिओ कोइ ॥
You do not take their merits and demerits into account.
ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਦੇਖਿ ਮਨੁ ਲਗਾ ਸੇਵ ॥੭॥
Eih Bidhh Dhaekh Man Lagaa Saev ||7||
इह बिधि देखि मनु लगा सेव ॥७॥
Seeing these ways of Yours, I have dedicated my mind to Your service. ||7||
ਕਬੀਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਓ ਏਕ ਰੰਗ ॥
Kabeer Dhhiaaeiou Eaek Rang ||
कबीरि धिआइओ एक रंग ॥
Kabeer meditated on the One Lord with love.
ਨਾਮਦੇਵ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਬਸਹਿ ਸੰਗਿ ॥
Naamadhaev Har Jeeo Basehi Sang ||
नामदेव हरि जीउ बसहि संगि ॥
Naam Dayv lived with the Dear Lord.
ਰਵਿਦਾਸ ਧਿਆਏ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਨੂਪ ॥
Ravidhaas Dhhiaaeae Prabh Anoop ||
रविदास धिआए प्रभ अनूप ॥
Ravi Daas meditated on God, the Incomparably Beautiful.

ਅਨਿਕ ਜਨਮ ਭ੍ਰਮੇ ਜੋਨਿ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
Anik Janam Bhramae Jon Maahi ||
अनिक जनम भ्रमे जोनि माहि ॥
The mortal wanders in reincarnation through countless lifetimes.
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਰਕਿ ਪਾਹਿ ॥
Har Simaran Bin Narak Paahi ||
हरि सिमरन बिनु नरकि पाहि ॥
Without meditating in remembrance on the Lord, he falls into hell.
ਭਗਤਿ ਬਿਹੂਨਾ ਖੰਡ ਖੰਡ ॥
Bhagath Bihoonaa Khandd Khandd ||
भगति बिहूना खंड खंड ॥
Without devotional worship, he is cut apart into pieces.
ਬਿਨੁ ਬੂਝੇ ਜਮੁ ਦੇਤ ਡੰਡ ॥੧॥
Bin Boojhae Jam Dhaeth Ddandd ||1||
बिनु बूझे जमु देत डंड ॥१॥
Without understanding, he is punished by the Messenger of Death. ||1||
ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਭਜਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਦਾ ਮੀਤ ॥
Gobindh Bhajahu Maerae Sadhaa Meeth ||
गोबिंद भजहु मेरे सदा मीत ॥
Meditate and vibrate forever on the Lord of the Universe, O my friend.
ਸਾਚ ਸਬਦ ਕਰਿ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

संतोखु न आवत कहूं काज ॥
Contentment does not come by any endeavors.
ਧੂੰਮ ਬਾਦਰ ਸਭਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਸਾਜ ॥
Dhhoonm Baadhar Sabh Maaeiaa Saaj ||
धूम बादर सभि माइआ साज ॥
All the show of Maya is just a cloud of smoke.
ਪਾਪ ਕਰੰਤੌ ਨਹ ਸੰਗਾਇ ॥
Paap Karantha Neh Sangaae ||
पाप करंतौ नह संगाइ ॥
The mortal does not hesitate to commit sins.
ਬਿਖੁ ਕਾ ਮਾਤਾ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ ॥੨॥
Bikh Kaa Maathaa Aavai Jaae ||2||
बिखु का माता आवै जाइ ॥२॥
Intoxicated with poison, he comes and goes in reincarnation. ||2||
ਹਉ ਹਉ ਕਰਤ ਬਧੇ ਬਿਕਾਰ ॥
Ho Ho Karath Badhhae Bikaar ||
हउ हउ करत बधे बिकार ॥
Acting in egotism and self-conceit, his corruption only increases.
ਮੋਹ ਲੋਭ ਡੂਬੌ ਸੰਸਾਰ ॥
Moh Lobh Ddooba Sansaar ||
मोह लोभ डूबौ संसार ॥
The world is drowning in attachment and greed.
ਕਾਮਿ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿ ਮਨੁ ਵਸਿ ਕੀਆ ॥
Kaam Krodhh Man Vas Keeaa ||
कामि क्रोधि मनु वसि कीआ ॥
Sexual desire and anger hold the mind in its power.
ਸੁਪਨੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਹਰਿ ਲੀਆ ॥੩॥
Supanai Naam N Har Leeaa ||3||
सुपनै नामु न हरि लीआ ॥३॥
Even in his dreams, he does not chant the Lord's Name. ||3||
ਕਬ ਹੀ ਰਾਜਾ ਕਬ ਮੰਗਨਹਾਰੁ ॥
Kab Hee Raajaa Kab Manganehaar ||
कब ही राजा कब मंगनहारु ॥
Sometimes he is a king, and sometimes he is a beggar.
ਦੂਖ ਸੂਖ ਬਾਧੌ ਸੰਸਾਰ ॥
Dhookh Sookh Baadhha Sansaar ||
दूख सूख बाधौ संसार ॥
The world is bound by pleasure and pain.
ਮਨ ਉਧਰਣ ਕਾ ਸਾਜੁ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
Man Oudhharan Kaa Saaj Naahi ||
मन उधरण का साजु नाहि ॥
The mortal makes no arrangements to save himself.
ਪਾਪ ਬੰਧਨ ਨਿਤ ਪਉਤ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੪॥
Paap Bandhhan Nith Pouth Jaahi ||4||
पाप बंधन नित पउत जाहि ॥४॥
The bondage of sin continues to hold him. ||4||
ਈਠ ਮੀਤ ਕੋਊ ਸਖਾ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
Eeth Meeth Kooo Sakhaa Naahi ||
ईठ मीत कोऊ सखा नाहि ॥
He has no beloved friends or companions.
ਆਪਿ ਬੀਜਿ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਖਾਂਹਿ ॥
Aap Beej Aapae Hee Khaanhi ||
आपि बीजि आपे ही खांहि ॥
He himself eats what he himself plants.
