पूज करे रखै नावालि ॥
You wash your stone gods and worship them.
ਕੁੰਗੂ ਚੰਨਣੁ ਫੁਲ ਚੜਾਏ ॥
Kungoo Channan Ful Charraaeae ||
कुंगू चंनणु फुल चड़ाए ॥
You offer saffron, sandalwood and flowers.
ਪੈਰੀ ਪੈ ਪੈ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਮਨਾਏ ॥
Pairee Pai Pai Bahuth Manaaeae ||
पैरी पै पै बहुतु मनाए ॥
Falling at their feet, you try so hard to appease them.
ਮਾਣੂਆ ਮੰਗਿ ਮੰਗਿ ਪੈਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੈ ਖਾਇ ॥
Maanooaa Mang Mang Painhai Khaae ||
माणूआ मंगि मंगि पैन्है खाइ ॥
Begging, begging from other people, you get things to wear and eat.
ਅੰਧੀ ਕੰਮੀ ਅੰਧ ਸਜਾਇ ॥
Andhhee Kanmee Andhh Sajaae ||
अंधी कमी अंध सजाइ ॥
For your blind deeds, you will be blindly punished.
ਭੁਖਿਆ ਦੇਇ ਨ ਮਰਦਿਆ ਰਖੈ ॥
Bhukhiaa Dhaee N Maradhiaa Rakhai ||
भुखिआ देइ न मरदिआ रखै ॥
Your idol does not feed the hungry, or save the dying.

सभे सुरती जोग सभि सभे बेद पुराण ॥
All intuitive understanding, all Yoga, all the Vedas and Puraanas.
ਸਭੇ ਕਰਣੇ ਤਪ ਸਭਿ ਸਭੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਿਆਨ ॥
Sabhae Karanae Thap Sabh Sabhae Geeth Giaan ||
सभे करणे तप सभि सभे गीत गिआन ॥
All actions, all penances, all songs and spiritual wisdom.
ਸਭੇ ਬੁਧੀ ਸੁਧਿ ਸਭਿ ਸਭਿ ਤੀਰਥ ਸਭਿ ਥਾਨ ॥
Sabhae Budhhee Sudhh Sabh Sabh Theerathh Sabh Thhaan ||
सभे बुधी सुधि सभि सभि तीरथ सभि थान ॥
All intellect, all enlightenment, all sacred shrines of pilgrimage.
ਸਭਿ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੀਆ ਅਮਰ ਸਭਿ ਸਭਿ ਖੁਸੀਆ ਸਭਿ ਖਾਨ ॥
Sabh Paathisaaheeaa Amar Sabh Sabh Khuseeaa Sabh Khaan ||
सभि पातिसाहीआ अमर सभि सभि खुसीआ सभि खान ॥
All kingdoms, all royal commands, all joys and all delicacies.
ਸਭੇ ਮਾਣਸ ਦੇਵ ਸਭਿ ਸਭੇ ਜੋਗ ਧਿਆਨ ॥
Sabhae Maanas Dhaev Sabh Sabhae Jog Dhhiaan ||
सभे माणस देव सभि सभे जोग धिआन ॥
All mankind, all divinites, all Yoga and meditation.
ਸਭੇ ਪੁਰੀਆ ਖੰਡ ਸਭਿ ਸਭੇ ਜੀਅ ਜਹਾਨ ॥
Sabhae Pureeaa Khandd Sabh Sabhae Jeea Jehaan ||
सभे पुरीआ खंड सभि सभे जीअ जहान ॥
All worlds, all celestial realms; all the beings of the universe.
ਹੁਕਮਿ ਚਲਾਏ ਆਪਣੈ ਕਰਮੀ ਵਹੈ ਕਲਾਮ ॥
Hukam Chalaaeae Aapanai Karamee Vehai Kalaam ||
हुकमि चलाए आपणै करमी वहै कलाम ॥
According to His Hukam, He commands them. His Pen writes out the account of their actions.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚਾ ਸਚਿ ਨਾਇ ਸਚੁ ਸਭਾ ਦੀਬਾਨੁ ॥੨॥

नानक सचा सचि नाइ सचु सभा दीबानु ॥२॥
O Nanak, True is the Lord, and True is His Name. True is His Congregation and His Court. ||2||

नाइ मंनिऐ सुखु ऊपजै नामे गति होई ॥
With faith in the Name, peace wells up; the Name brings emancipation.
ਨਾਇ ਮੰਨਿਐ ਪਤਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੋਈ ॥
Naae Manniai Path Paaeeai Hiradhai Har Soee ||
नाइ मंनिऐ पति पाईऐ हिरदै हरि सोई ॥
With faith in the Name, honor is obtained. The Lord is enshrined in the heart.
ਨਾਇ ਮੰਨਿਐ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਲੰਘੀਐ ਫਿਰਿ ਬਿਘਨੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥
Naae Manniai Bhavajal Langheeai Fir Bighan N Hoee ||
नाइ मंनिऐ भवजलु लंघीऐ फिरि बिघनु न होई ॥
With faith in the Name, one crosses over the terrifying world-ocean, and no obstructions are ever again encountered.
ਨਾਇ ਮੰਨਿਐ ਪੰਥੁ ਪਰਗਟਾ ਨਾਮੇ ਸਭ ਲੋਈ ॥
Naae Manniai Panthh Paragattaa Naamae Sabh Loee ||
नाइ मंनिऐ पंथु परगटा नामे सभ लोई ॥
With faith in the Name, the Path is revealed; through the Name, one is totally enlightened.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਨਾਉ ਮੰਨੀਐ ਜਿਨ ਦੇਵੈ ਸੋਈ ॥੯॥
Naanak Sathigur Miliai Naao Manneeai Jin Dhaevai Soee ||9||
नानक सतिगुरि मिलिऐ नाउ मंनीऐ जिन देवै सोई ॥९॥
O Nanak, meeting with the True Guru, one comes to have faith in the Name; he alone has faith, who is blessed with it. ||9||

ਪੁਰੀਆ ਖੰਡਾ ਸਿਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਇਕ ਪੈਰਿ ਧਿਆਏ ॥
Pureeaa Khanddaa Sir Karae Eik Pair Dhhiaaeae ||
पुरीआ खंडा सिरि करे इक पैरि धिआए ॥
The mortal walks on his head through the worlds and realms; he meditates, balaced on one foot.
ਪਉਣੁ ਮਾਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਜਪੁ ਕਰੇ ਸਿਰੁ ਮੁੰਡੀ ਤਲੈ ਦੇਇ ॥
Poun Maar Man Jap Karae Sir Munddee Thalai Dhaee ||
पउणु मारि मनि जपु करे सिरु मुंडी तलै देइ ॥
Controlling the wind of the breath, he meditates within his mind, tucking his chin down into his chest.
ਕਿਸੁ ਉਪਰਿ ਓਹੁ ਟਿਕ ਟਿਕੈ ਕਿਸ ਨੋ ਜੋਰੁ ਕਰੇਇ ॥

किसु उपरि ओहु टिक टिकै किस नो जोरु करेइ ॥
What does he lean on? Where does he get his power?
ਕਿਸ ਨੋ ਕਹੀਐ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਕਿਸ ਨੋ ਕਰਤਾ ਦੇਇ ॥
Kis No Keheeai Naanakaa Kis No Karathaa Dhaee ||
किस नो कहीऐ नानका किस नो करता देइ ॥
What can be said, O Nanak? Who is blessed by the Creator?
ਹੁਕਮਿ ਰਹਾਏ ਆਪਣੈ ਮੂਰਖੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਣੇਇ ॥੧॥

हुकमि रहाए आपणै मूरखु आपु गणेइ ॥१॥
God keeps all under His Command, but the fool shows off himself. ||1||

है है आखां कोटि कोटि कोटी हू कोटि कोटि ॥
He is, He is - I say it millions upon millions, millions upon millions of times.
ਆਖੂੰ ਆਖਾਂ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਕਹਣਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਤੋਟਿ ॥
Aakhoon Aakhaan Sadhaa Sadhaa Kehan N Aavai Thott ||
आखूं आखां सदा सदा कहणि न आवै तोटि ॥
With my mouth I say it, forever and ever; there is no end to this speech.
ਨਾ ਹਉ ਥਕਾਂ ਨ ਠਾਕੀਆ ਏਵਡ ਰਖਹਿ ਜੋਤਿ ॥
Naa Ho Thhakaan N Thaakeeaa Eaevadd Rakhehi Joth ||
ना हउ थकां न ठाकीआ एवड रखहि जोति ॥
I do not get tired, and I will not be stopped; this is how great my determination is.
ਨਾਨਕ ਚਸਿਅਹੁ ਚੁਖ ਬਿੰਦ ਉਪਰਿ ਆਖਣੁ ਦੋਸੁ ॥੨॥
Naanak Chasiahu Chukh Bindh Oupar Aakhan Dhos ||2||
नानक चसिअहु चुख बिंद उपरि आखणु दोसु ॥२॥
O Nanak, this is tiny and insignificant. To say that it is more, is wrong. ||2||

नाइ मंनिऐ कुलु उधरै सभु कुट्मबु सबाइआ ॥
With faith in the Name, all one's ancestors and family are saved.
ਨਾਇ ਮੰਨਿਐ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਉਧਰੈ ਜਿਨ ਰਿਦੈ ਵਸਾਇਆ ॥
Naae Manniai Sangath Oudhharai Jin Ridhai Vasaaeiaa ||
नाइ मंनिऐ संगति उधरै जिन रिदै वसाइआ ॥
With faith in the Name, one's associates are saved; enshrine it within your heart.
ਨਾਇ ਮੰਨਿਐ ਸੁਣਿ ਉਧਰੇ ਜਿਨ ਰਸਨ ਰਸਾਇਆ ॥
Naae Manniai Sun Oudhharae Jin Rasan Rasaaeiaa ||
नाइ मंनिऐ सुणि उधरे जिन रसन रसाइआ ॥
With faith in the Name, those who hear it are saved; let your tongue delight in it.
ਨਾਇ ਮੰਨਿਐ ਦੁਖ ਭੁਖ ਗਈ ਜਿਨ ਨਾਮਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
Naae Manniai Dhukh Bhukh Gee Jin Naam Chith Laaeiaa ||
नाइ मंनिऐ दुख भुख गई जिन नामि चितु लाइआ ॥
With faith in the Name, pain and hunger are dispelled; let your consciousness be attached to the Name.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਤਿਨੀ ਸਾਲਾਹਿਆ ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥੧੦॥
Naanak Naam Thinee Saalaahiaa Jin Guroo Milaaeiaa ||10||
नानक नामु तिनी सालाहिआ जिन गुरू मिलाइआ ॥१०॥
O Nanak, they alone Praise the Name, who meet with the Guru. ||10||

All nights, all days, all dates, all days of the week;

Sabhae Ruthee Maah Sabh Sabh Dhharathanaee Sabh Bhaar ||
सभे रुती माह सभि सभि धरतीं सभि भार ॥
All seasons, all months, all the earth and everything on it.
ਸਭੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਪਉਣ ਸਭਿ ਸਭਿ ਅਗਨੀ ਪਾਤਾਲ ॥
Sabhae Paanee Poun Sabh Sabh Aganee Paathaal ||
सभे पाणी पउण सभि सभि अगनी पाताल ॥
All waters, all winds, all fires and underworlds.
ਸਭੇ ਪੁਰੀਆ ਖੰਡ ਸਭਿ ਸਭਿ ਲੋਅ ਲੋਅ ਆਕਾਰ ॥
Sabhae Pureeaa Khandd Sabh Sabh Loa Loa Aakaar ||
सभे पुरीआ खंड सभि सभि लोअ लोअ आकार ॥
All solar systems and galaxies, all worlds, people and forms.
ਹੁਕਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਪੀ ਕੇਤੜਾ ਕਹਿ ਨ ਸਕੀਜੈ ਕਾਰ ॥
Hukam N Jaapee Kaetharraa Kehi N Sakeejai Kaar ||
हुकमु न जापी केतड़ा कहि न सकीजै कार ॥
No one knows how great the Hukam of His Command is; no one can describe His actions.
ਆਖਹਿ ਥਕਹਿ ਆਖਿ ਆਖਿ ਕਰਿ ਸਿਫਤੀ ਵੀਚਾਰ ॥
Aakhehi Thhakehi Aakh Aakh Kar Sifathanaee Veechaar ||
आखहि थकहि आखि आखि करि सिफतीं वीचार ॥
Mortals may utter, chant, recite and contemplate His Praises until they grow weary.
ਤ੍ਰਿਣੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਓ ਬਪੁੜੀ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਕਹੈ ਗਵਾਰ ॥੧॥

त्रिणु न पाइओ बपुड़ी नानकु कहै गवार ॥१॥
The poor fools, O Nanak, cannot find even a tiny bit of the Lord. ||1||

अखीं परणै जे फिरां देखां सभु आकारु ॥
If I were to walk around with my eyes wide open, gazing at all the created forms;
ਪੁਛਾ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਪੰਡਿਤਾਂ ਪੁਛਾ ਬੇਦ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥
Pushhaa Giaanee Panddithaan Pushhaa Baedh Beechaar ||
पुछा गिआनी पंडितां पुछा बेद बीचार ॥
I could ask the spiritual teachers and religious scholars, and those who contemplate the Vedas;
