Our All-powerful Lord and Master is the Doer of all, the Cause of all causes.
ਮੋਹਿ ਅਨਾਥ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣ ॥
Mohi Anaathh Prabh Thaeree Saran ||
मोहि अनाथ प्रभ तेरी सरण ॥
I am an orphan - I seek Your Sanctuary, God.
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਆਧਾਰਿ ॥
Jeea Janth Thaerae Aadhhaar ||
जीअ जंत तेरे आधारि ॥
All beings and creatures take Your Support.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਲੇਹਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਿ ॥੨॥
Kar Kirapaa Prabh Laehi Nisathaar ||2||
करि किरपा प्रभ लेहि निसतारि ॥२॥
Be merciful, God, and save me. ||2||
ਭਵ ਖੰਡਨ ਦੁਖ ਨਾਸ ਦੇਵ ॥
Bhav Khanddan Dhukh Naas Dhaev ||
भव खंडन दुख नास देव ॥
God is the Destroyer of fear, the Remover of pain and suffering.
ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਮੁਨਿ ਜਨ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਸੇਵ ॥
Sur Nar Mun Jan Thaa Kee Saev ||
सुरि नर मुनि जन ता की सेव ॥
The angelic beings and silent sages serve Him.
ਧਰਣਿ ਅਕਾਸੁ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਕਲਾ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
Dhharan Akaas Jaa Kee Kalaa Maahi ||
धरणि अकासु जा की कला माहि ॥
The earth and the sky are in His Power.
ਤੇਰਾ ਦੀਆ ਸਭਿ ਜੰਤ ਖਾਹਿ ॥੩॥
Thaeraa Dheeaa Sabh Janth Khaahi ||3||
तेरा दीआ सभि जंत खाहि ॥३॥
All beings eat what You give them. ||3||
ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਇਆਲ ॥

अंतरजामी प्रभ दइआल ॥
O Merciful God, O Searcher of hearts,
ਅਪਣੇ ਦਾਸ ਕਉ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲਿ ॥
Apanae Dhaas Ko Nadhar Nihaal ||
अपणे दास कउ नदरि निहालि ॥
Please bless Your slave with Your Glance of Grace.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਮੋਹਿ ਦੇਹੁ ਦਾਨੁ ॥

करि किरपा मोहि देहु दानु ॥

ਰਾਮ ਰੰਗਿ ਸਭ ਗਏ ਪਾਪ ॥
Raam Rang Sabh Geae Paap ||
राम रंगि सभ गए पाप ॥
Loving the Lord, one's sins are taken away.
ਰਾਮ ਜਪਤ ਕਛੁ ਨਹੀ ਸੰਤਾਪ ॥
Raam Japath Kashh Nehee Santhaap ||
राम जपत कछु नही संताप ॥
Meditating on the Lord, one does not suffer at all.
ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਜਪਤ ਸਭਿ ਮਿਟੇ ਅੰਧੇਰ ॥
Gobindh Japath Sabh Mittae Andhhaer ||
गोबिंद जपत सभि मिटे अंधेर ॥
Meditating on the Lord of the Universe, all darkness is dispelled.
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਕਛੁ ਨਾਹਿ ਫੇਰ ॥੧॥
Har Simarath Kashh Naahi Faer ||1||
हरि सिमरत कछु नाहि फेर ॥१॥
Meditating in remembrance on the Lord, the cycle of reincarnation comes to an end. ||1||
ਬਸੰਤੁ ਹਮਾਰੈ ਰਾਮ ਰੰਗੁ ॥
Basanth Hamaarai Raam Rang ||
बसंतु हमारै राम रंगु ॥
The love of the Lord is springtime for me.
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਸਿਉ ਸਦਾ ਸੰਗੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

संत जना सिउ सदा संगु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

The Saints have shared the Teachings with me.
ਜਹ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਭਗਤੁ ਸੋ ਧੰਨਿ ਦੇਸੁ ॥
Jeh Gobindh Bhagath So Dhhann Dhaes ||
जह गोबिंद भगतु सो धंनि देसु ॥
Blessed is that country where the devotees of the Lord of the Universe dwell.
ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿਹੀਨ ਉਦਿਆਨ ਥਾਨੁ ॥
Har Bhagathiheen Oudhiaan Thhaan ||
हरि भगतिहीन उदिआन थानु ॥
But that place where the Lord's devotees are not, is wilderness.
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਪਛਾਨੁ ॥੨॥
Gur Prasaadh Ghatt Ghatt Pashhaan ||2||
गुर प्रसादि घटि घटि पछानु ॥२॥
By Guru's Grace, realize the Lord in each and every heart. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਰਸ ਭੋਗ ਰੰਗੁ ॥
Har Keerathan Ras Bhog Rang ||
हरि कीरतन रस भोग रंगु ॥
Sing the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises, and enjoy the nectar of His Love.
ਮਨ ਪਾਪ ਕਰਤ ਤੂ ਸਦਾ ਸੰਗੁ ॥
Man Paap Karath Thoo Sadhaa Sang ||
मन पाप करत तू सदा संगु ॥
O mortal, you must always restrain yourself from committing sins.
ਨਿਕਟਿ ਪੇਖੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕਰਣਹਾਰ ॥
Nikatt Paekh Prabh Karanehaar ||
निकटि पेखु प्रभु करणहार ॥
Behold the Creator Lord God near at hand.
ਈਤ ਊਤ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਾਰ ॥੩॥
Eeth Ooth Prabh Kaaraj Saar ||3||
ईत ऊत प्रभ कारज सार ॥३॥
Here and hereafter, God shall resolve your affairs. ||3||
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਸਿਉ ਲਗੋ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥
Charan Kamal Sio Lago Dhhiaan ||
चरन कमल सिउ लगो धिआनु ॥
I focus my meditation on the Lord's Lotus Feet.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕੀਨੋ ਦਾਨੁ ॥

करि किरपा प्रभि कीनो दानु ॥
Granting His Grace, God has blessed me with this Gift.
ਤੇਰਿਆ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਬਾਛਉ ਧੂਰਿ ॥
Thaeriaa Santh Janaa Kee Baashho Dhhoor ||
तेरिआ संत जना की बाछउ धूरि ॥
I yearn for the dust of the feet of Your Saints.
ਜਪਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਦ ਹਜੂਰਿ ॥੪॥੧੧॥

Nanak meditates on his Lord and Master, who is ever-present, near at hand. ||4||11||

ਸਚੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਨਿਤ ਨਵਾ ॥

सचु परमेसरु नित नवा ॥
The True Transcendent Lord is always new, forever fresh.
ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਨਿਤ ਚਵਾ ॥
Gur Kirapaa Thae Nith Chavaa ||
गुर किरपा ते नित चवा ॥
By Guru's Grace, I continually chant His Name.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਰਖਵਾਲੇ ਮਾਈ ਬਾਪ ॥
Prabh Rakhavaalae Maaee Baap ||
प्रभ रखवाले माई बाप ॥
God is my Protector, my Mother and Father.
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਣਿ ਨਹੀ ਸੰਤਾਪ ॥੧॥
Jaa Kai Simaran Nehee Santhaap ||1||
जा कै सिमरणि नही संताप ॥१॥
Meditating in remembrance on Him, I do not suffer in sorrow. ||1||
ਖਸਮੁ ਧਿਆਈ ਇਕ ਮਨਿ ਇਕ ਭਾਇ ॥
Khasam Dhhiaaee Eik Man Eik Bhaae ||
खसमु धिआई इक मनि इक भाइ ॥
I meditate on my Lord and Master, single-mindedly, with love.
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੀ ਸਦਾ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਸਾਚੈ ਸਾਹਿਬਿ ਰਖਿਆ ਕੰਠਿ ਲਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Gur Poorae Kee Sadhaa Saranaaee Saachai Saahib Rakhiaa Kanth Laae ||1|| Rehaao ||
गुर पूरे की सदा सरणाई साचै साहिबि रखिआ कंठि लाइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
I seek the Sanctuary of the Perfect Guru forever. My True Lord and Master hugs me close in His Embrace. ||1||Pause||
ਅਪਣੇ ਜਨ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਿ ਰਖੇ ॥
Apanae Jan Prabh Aap Rakhae ||
अपणे जन प्रभि आपि रखे ॥
God Himself protects His humble servants.
ਦੁਸਟ ਦੂਤ ਸਭਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਥਕੇ ॥
Dhusatt Dhooth Sabh Bhram Thhakae ||
दुसट दूत सभि भ्रमि थके ॥
The demons and wicked enemies have grown weary of struggling against Him.
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਾਚੇ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਇ ॥
Bin Gur Saachae Nehee Jaae ||
बिनु गुर साचे नही जाइ ॥
Without the True Guru, there is no place to go.
ਦੁਖੁ ਦੇਸ ਦਿਸੰਤਰਿ ਰਹੇ ਧਾਇ ॥੨॥
Dhukh Dhaes Dhisanthar Rehae Dhhaae ||2||
दुखु देस दिसंतरि रहे धाइ ॥२॥
Wandering through the lands and foreign countries, people only grow tired and suffer in pain. ||2||
ਕਿਰਤੁ ਓਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਕਾ ਮਿਟਸਿ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
Kirath Ounhaa Kaa Mittas Naahi ||
किरतु ओन्हा का मिटसि नाहि ॥
The record of their past actions cannot be erased.
ਓਇ ਅਪਣਾ ਬੀਜਿਆ ਆਪਿ ਖਾਹਿ ॥
Oue Apanaa Beejiaa Aap Khaahi ||
ओइ अपणा बीजिआ आपि खाहि ॥
They harvest and eat what they have planted.
ਜਨ ਕਾ ਰਖਵਾਲਾ ਆਪਿ ਸੋਇ ॥
Jan Kaa Rakhavaalaa Aap Soe ||
जन का रखवाला आपि सोइ ॥
The Lord Himself is the Protector of His humble servants.
ਜਨ ਕਉ ਪਹੁਚਿ ਨ ਸਕਸਿ ਕੋਇ ॥੩॥
Jan Ko Pahuch N Sakas Koe ||3||
जन कउ पहुचि न सकसि कोइ ॥३॥
No one can rival the humble servant of the Lord. ||3||
ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਦਾਸ ਰਖੇ ਕਰਿ ਜਤਨੁ ਆਪਿ ॥
Prabh Dhaas Rakhae Kar Jathan Aap ||
प्रभि दास रखे करि जतनु आपि ॥
By His own efforts, God protects His slave.
ਅਖੰਡ ਪੂਰਨ ਜਾ ਕੋ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪੁ ॥
Akhandd Pooran Jaa Ko Prathaap ||
अखंड पूरन जा को प्रतापु ॥
God's Glory is perfect and unbroken.
ਗੁਣ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨਿਤ ਰਸਨ ਗਾਇ ॥
Gun Gobindh Nith Rasan Gaae ||
गुण गोबिंद नित रसन गाइ ॥
So sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe with your tongue forever.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜੀਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣ ਧਿਆਇ ॥੪॥੧੨॥
Naanak Jeevai Har Charan Dhhiaae ||4||12||
नानकु जीवै हरि चरण धिआइ ॥४॥१२॥
Nanak lives by meditating on the Feet of the Lord. ||4||12||

पारब्रहमि प्रभि करी मइआ ॥
The Supreme Lord God has shown mercy to me.
ਸਰਬ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਮ ॥
Sarab Manorathh Pooran Kaam ||
सरब मनोरथ पूरन काम ॥
All my desires and tasks are fulfilled.
ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ॥੧॥

Saa Ruth Suhaavee Jith Har Chith Aavai ||
सा रुति सुहावी जितु हरि चिति आवै ॥
How beautiful is that season, when the Lord fills the mind.
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਦੀਸੈ ਬਿਲਲਾਂਤੀ ਸਾਕਤੁ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Bin Sathigur Dheesai Bilalaanthee Saakath Fir Fir Aavai Jaavai ||1|| Rehaao ||
बिनु सतिगुर दीसै बिललांती साकतु फिरि फिरि आवै जावै ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Without the True Guru, the world weeps. The faithless cynic comes and goes in reincarnation, over and over again. ||1||Pause||
