Saarang, Fifth Mehl:
ਮਾਈ ਰੀ ਮਾਤੀ ਚਰਣ ਸਮੂਹ ॥
Maaee Ree Maathee Charan Samooh ||
माई री माती चरण समूह ॥
O mother, I am totally intoxicated with the Lord's Feet.
ਏਕਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਉ ਆਨ ਨ ਜਾਨਉ ਦੁਤੀਆ ਭਾਉ ਸਭ ਲੂਹ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Eaekas Bin Ho Aan N Jaano Dhutheeaa Bhaao Sabh Looh ||1|| Rehaao ||
एकसु बिनु हउ आन न जानउ दुतीआ भाउ सभ लूह ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
I know of none other than the Lord. I have totally burnt off my sense of duality. ||1||Pause||
ਤਿਆਗਿ ਗਪਾਲ ਅਵਰ ਜੋ ਕਰਣਾ ਤੇ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਕੇ ਖੂਹ ॥
Thiaag Guopaal Avar Jo Karanaa Thae Bikhiaa Kae Khooh ||
तिआगि गोपाल अवर जो करणा ते बिखिआ के खूह ॥
To abandon the Lord of the World, and become involved with anything else, is to fall into the pit of corruption.
ਦਰਸ ਪਿਆਸ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਮੋਹਿਓ ਕਾਢੀ ਨਰਕ ਤੇ ਧੂਹ ॥੧॥
Dharas Piaas Maeraa Man Mohiou Kaadtee Narak Thae Dhhooh ||1||
दरस पिआस मेरा मनु मोहिओ काढी नरक ते धूह ॥१॥
My mind is enticed, thirsty for the Blessed Vision of His Darshan. He has lifted me up and out of hell. ||1||
ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਬਿਨਸੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਹੂਹ ॥
Santh Prasaadh Miliou Sukhadhaathaa Binasee Houmai Hooh ||
संत प्रसादि मिलिओ सुखदाता बिनसी हउमै हूह ॥
By the Grace of the Saints, I have met the Lord, the Giver of peace; the noise of egotism has been stilled.

ਬਿਨਸੇ ਕਾਚ ਕੇ ਬਿਉਹਾਰ ॥
Binasae Kaach Kae Biouhaar ||
बिनसे काच के बिउहार ॥
The false dealings are finished.
ਰਾਮ ਭਜੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਇਹੈ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਸਾਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Raam Bhaj Mil Saadhhasangath Eihai Jag Mehi Saar ||1|| Rehaao ||
राम भजु मिलि साधसंगति इहै जग महि सार ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Join the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, and meditate, vibrate on the Lord. This is the most excellent thing in the world. ||1||Pause||
ਈਤ ਊਤ ਨ ਡੋਲਿ ਕਤਹੂ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
Eeth Ooth N Ddol Kathehoo Naam Hiradhai Dhhaar ||
ईत ऊत न डोलि कतहू नामु हिरदै धारि ॥
Here and hereafter, you shall never waver; enshrine the Naam, the Name of the Lord, within your heart.
ਗੁਰ ਚਰਨ ਬੋਹਿਥ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਭਾਗੀ ਉਤਰਿਓ ਸੰਸਾਰ ॥੧॥
Gur Charan Bohithh Miliou Bhaagee Outhariou Sansaar ||1||
गुर चरन बोहिथ मिलिओ भागी उतरिओ संसार ॥१॥
The boat of the Guru's Feet is found by great good fortune; it shall carry you across the world-ocean. ||1||
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਸਰਬ ਨਾਥ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
Jal Thhal Meheeal Poor Rehiou Sarab Naathh Apaar ||
जलि थलि महीअलि पूरि रहिओ सरब नाथ अपार ॥
The Infinite Lord is totally permeating and pervading the water, the land and the sky.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਉ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਨ ਰਸ ਸਭਿ ਖਾਰ ॥੨॥੯੬॥੧੧੯॥
Har Naam Anmrith Peeo Naanak Aan Ras Sabh Khaar ||2||96||119||
हरि नामु अम्रितु पीउ नानक आन रस सभि खार ॥२॥९६॥११९॥
Drink in the Ambrosial Nectar of the Lord's Name; O Nanak, all other tastes are bitter. ||2||96||119||

You whine and cry
ਮਹਾ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਮੋਹ ਮਦ ਮਾਤੌ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਨਾਹਿ ਹਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Mehaa Bikaar Moh Madh Maatha Simarath Naahi Harae ||1|| Rehaao ||
महा बिकार मोह मद मातौ सिमरत नाहि हरे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
- you are intoxicated with the great corruption of attachment and pride, but you do not remember the Lord in meditation. ||1||Pause||
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਜਪਤੇ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਦੋਖ ਜਰੇ ॥
Saadhhasang Japathae Naaraaein Thin Kae Dhokh Jarae ||
साधसंगि जपते नाराइण तिन के दोख जरे ॥
Those who meditate on the Lord in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy - the guilt of their minstakes is burnt away.
ਸਫਲ ਦੇਹ ਧੰਨਿ ਓਇ ਜਨਮੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਲੇ ॥੧॥
Safal Dhaeh Dhhann Oue Janamae Prabh Kai Sang Ralae ||1||
सफल देह धंनि ओइ जनमे प्रभ कै संगि रले ॥१॥
Fruitful is the body, and blessed is the birth of those who merge with God. ||1||
ਚਾਰਿ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਅਸਟ ਦਸਾ ਸਿਧਿ ਸਭ ਊਪਰਿ ਸਾਧ ਭਲੇ ॥
Chaar Padhaarathh Asatt Dhasaa Sidhh Sabh Oopar Saadhh Bhalae ||
चारि पदारथ असट दसा सिधि सभ ऊपरि साध भले ॥
The four great blessings, and the eighteen supernatural spiritual powers - above all these are the Holy Saints.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਧੂਰਿ ਜਨ ਬਾਂਛੈ ਉਧਰਹਿ ਲਾਗਿ ਪਲੇ ॥੨॥੯੭॥੧੨੦॥
Naanak Dhaas Dhhoor Jan Baanshhai Oudhharehi Laag Palae ||2||97||120||
नानक दास धूरि जन बांछै उधरहि लागि पले ॥२॥९७॥१२०॥
Slave Nanak longs for the dust of the feet of the humble; attached to the hem of His robe, he is saved. ||2||97||120||

हरि के नाम के जन कांखी ॥
The Lord's humble servants yearn for the Lord's Name.
ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਬਚਨਿ ਏਹੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਚਾਹਤ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਰਸੁ ਦੇਖਹਿ ਕਬ ਆਖੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Man Than Bachan Eaehee Sukh Chaahath Prabh Dharas Dhaekhehi Kab Aakhee ||1|| Rehaao ||
मनि तनि बचनि एही सुखु चाहत प्रभ दरसु देखहि कब आखी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
In thought, word and deed, they long for this peace, to gaze with their eyes upon the Blessed Vision of God's Darshan. ||1||Pause||
ਤੂ ਬੇਅੰਤੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਗਤਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਜਾਇ ਨ ਲਾਖੀ ॥
Thoo Baeanth Paarabreham Suaamee Gath Thaeree Jaae N Laakhee ||
तू बेअंतु पारब्रहम सुआमी गति तेरी जाइ न लाखी ॥
You are Endless, O God, my Supreme Lord and Master; Your state cannot be known.
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਮਨੁ ਬੇਧਿਆ ਕਰਿ ਸਰਬਸੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਰਾਖੀ ॥੧॥
Charan Kamal Preeth Man Baedhhiaa Kar Sarabas Anthar Raakhee ||1||
चरन कमल प्रीति मनु बेधिआ करि सरबसु अंतरि राखी ॥१॥
My mind is pierced through by the Love of Your Lotus Feet; this is everything to me - I enshrine it deep within my being. ||1||
ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਜਨ ਇਹ ਬਾਣੀ ਰਸਨਾ ਭਾਖੀ ॥
Baedh Puraan Simrith Saadhhoo Jan Eih Baanee Rasanaa Bhaakhee ||
बेद पुरान सिम्रिति साधू जन इह बाणी रसना भाखी ॥
In the Vedas, the Puraanas and the Simritees, the humble and the Holy chant this Bani with their tongues.
ਜਪਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਿਸਤਰੀਐ ਹੋਰੁ ਦੁਤੀਆ ਬਿਰਥੀ ਸਾਖੀ ॥੨॥੯੮॥੧੨੧॥
Jap Raam Naam Naanak Nisathareeai Hor Dhutheeaa Birathhee Saakhee ||2||98||121||
जपि राम नामु नानक निसतरीऐ होरु दुतीआ बिरथी साखी ॥२॥९८॥१२१॥
Chanting the Lord's Name, O Nanak, I am emancipated; other teachings of duality are useless. ||2||98||121||

A fly! You are just a fly, created by the Lord.
ਜਹ ਦੁਰਗੰਧ ਤਹਾ ਤੂ ਬੈਸਹਿ ਮਹਾ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਮਦ ਚਾਖੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Jeh Dhuragandhh Thehaa Thoo Baisehi Mehaa Bikhiaa Madh Chaakhee ||1|| Rehaao ||
जह दुरगंध तहा तू बैसहि महा बिखिआ मद चाखी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Wherever it stinks, you land there; you suck in the most toxic stench. ||1||Pause||
ਕਿਤਹਿ ਅਸਥਾਨਿ ਤੂ ਟਿਕਨੁ ਨ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਦੇਖੀ ਆਖੀ ॥
Kithehi Asathhaan Thoo Ttikan N Paavehi Eih Bidhh Dhaekhee Aakhee ||
कितहि असथानि तू टिकनु न पावहि इह बिधि देखी आखी ॥
You don't stay put anywhere; I have seen this with my eyes.
ਸੰਤਾ ਬਿਨੁ ਤੈ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਛਾਡਿਆ ਸੰਤ ਪਰੇ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਕੀ ਪਾਖੀ ॥੧॥
Santhaa Bin Thai Koe N Shhaaddiaa Santh Parae Gobidh Kee Paakhee ||1||
संता बिनु तै कोइ न छाडिआ संत परे गोबिद की पाखी ॥१॥
You have not spared anyone, except the Saints - the Saints are on the side of the Lord of the Universe. ||1||
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਗਲੇ ਤੈ ਮੋਹੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਸੰਤਾ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਲਾਖੀ ॥
Jeea Janth Sagalae Thai Mohae Bin Santhaa Kinai N Laakhee ||
जीअ जंत सगले तै मोहे बिनु संता किनै न लाखी ॥
You have enticed all beings and creatures; no one knows You, except the Saints.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨਿ ਰਾਤਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਖੀ ॥੨॥੯੯॥੧੨੨॥
Naanak Dhaas Har Keerathan Raathaa Sabadh Surath Sach Saakhee ||2||99||122||
नानक दासु हरि कीरतनि राता सबदु सुरति सचु साखी ॥२॥९९॥१२२॥
Slave Nanak is imbued with the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises. Focusing his consciousness on the Word of the Shabad, he realizes the Presence of the True Lord. ||2||99||122||

हरि हरि जपत सरब सुख पाए बीचे ग्रसत उदास ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, I have found total peace. I remain unattached in the midst of my household. ||1||Pause||
