Saarang, Fifth Mehl:
ਮੇਰੈ ਗੁਰਿ ਮੋਰੋ ਸਹਸਾ ਉਤਾਰਿਆ ॥
Maerai Gur Moro Sehasaa Outhaariaa ||
मेरै गुरि मोरो सहसा उतारिआ ॥
My Guru has rid me of my cynicism.
ਤਿਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਜਾਈਐ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਹਉ ਵਾਰਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
This Gur Kai Jaaeeai Balihaaree Sadhaa Sadhaa Ho Vaariaa ||1|| Rehaao ||
तिसु गुर कै जाईऐ बलिहारी सदा सदा हउ वारिआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
I am a sacrifice to that Guru; I am devoted to Him, forever and ever. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿਓ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਮਨਿ ਧਾਰਿਆ ॥
Gur Kaa Naam Japiou Dhin Raathee Gur Kae Charan Man Dhhaariaa ||
गुर का नामु जपिओ दिनु राती गुर के चरन मनि धारिआ ॥
I chant the Guru's Name day and night; I enshrine the Guru's Feet within my mind.
ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਧੂਰਿ ਕਰਉ ਨਿਤ ਮਜਨੁ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਮੈਲੁ ਉਤਾਰਿਆ ॥੧॥
Gur Kee Dhhoor Karo Nith Majan Kilavikh Mail Outhaariaa ||1||
गुर की धूरि करउ नित मजनु किलविख मैलु उतारिआ ॥१॥
I bathe continually in the dust of the Guru's Feet, washing off my dirty sins. ||1||
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੀ ਕਰਉ ਨਿਤ ਸੇਵਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਨਮਸਕਾਰਿਆ ॥
Gur Poorae Kee Karo Nith Saevaa Gur Apanaa Namasakaariaa ||
गुर पूरे की करउ नित सेवा गुरु अपना नमसकारिआ ॥
I continually serve the Perfect Guru; I humbly bow to my Guru.
ਸਰਬ ਫਲਾ ਦੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੇ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਿਆ ॥੨॥੪੭॥੭੦॥
Sarab Falaa Dheenhae Gur Poorai Naanak Gur Nisathaariaa ||2||47||70||
सरब फला दीन्हे गुरि पूरै नानक गुरि निसतारिआ ॥२॥४७॥७०॥
The Perfect Guru has blessed me with all fruitful rewards; O Nanak, the Guru has emancipated me. ||2||47||70||

ਸਿਮਰਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
Simarath Naam Praan Gath Paavai ||
सिमरत नामु प्रान गति पावै ॥
Meditating in remembrance on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the mortal attains salvation.
ਮਿਟਹਿ ਕਲੇਸ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਸਭ ਨਾਸੈ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਹਿਤੁ ਲਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Mittehi Kalaes Thraas Sabh Naasai Saadhhasang Hith Laavai ||1|| Rehaao ||
मिटहि कलेस त्रास सभ नासै साधसंगि हितु लावै ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
His sorrows are dispelled, and his fears are all erased; he is in love with the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||1||Pause||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਆਰਾਧੇ ਰਸਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਵੈ ॥
Har Har Har Har Man Aaraadhhae Rasanaa Har Jas Gaavai ||
हरि हरि हरि हरि मनि आराधे रसना हरि जसु गावै ॥
His mind worships and adores the Lord, Har, Har, Har, Har; his tongue sings the Praises of the Lord.
ਤਜਿ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਬਾਸੁਦੇਵ ਰੰਗੁ ਲਾਵੈ ॥੧॥
Thaj Abhimaan Kaam Krodhh Nindhaa Baasudhaev Rang Laavai ||1||
तजि अभिमानु काम क्रोधु निंदा बासुदेव रंगु लावै ॥१॥
Abandoning egotistical pride, sexual desire, anger and slander, he embraces love for the Lord. ||1||
ਦਾਮੋਦਰ ਦਇਆਲ ਆਰਾਧਹੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਕਰਤ ਸਹਾਵੈ ॥
Dhaamodhar Dhaeiaal Aaraadhhahu Gobindh Karath Suohaavai ||
दामोदर दइआल आराधहु गोबिंद करत सोहावै ॥
Worship and adore the Merciful Lord God; chanting the Name of the Lord of the Universe, you shall be embellished and exalted.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਭ ਕੀ ਹੋਇ ਰੇਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥੨॥੪੮॥੭੧॥
Kahu Naanak Sabh Kee Hoe Raenaa Har Har Dharas Samaavai ||2||48||71||
कहु नानक सभ की होइ रेना हरि हरि दरसि समावै ॥२॥४८॥७१॥
Says Nanak, whoever becomes the dust of all, merges in the Blesed Vision of the Lord, Har, Har. ||2||48||71||

अपुने गुर पूरे बलिहारै ॥
I am a sacrifice to my Perfect Guru.
ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪੁ ਕੀਓ ਨਾਮ ਕੋ ਰਾਖੇ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Pragatt Prathaap Keeou Naam Ko Raakhae Raakhanehaarai ||1|| Rehaao ||
प्रगट प्रतापु कीओ नाम को राखे राखनहारै ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
My Savior Lord has saved me; He has revealed the Glory of His Name. ||1||Pause||
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਕੀਏ ਸੇਵਕ ਦਾਸ ਅਪਨੇ ਸਗਲੇ ਦੂਖ ਬਿਦਾਰੈ ॥
Nirabho Keeeae Saevak Dhaas Apanae Sagalae Dhookh Bidhaarai ||
निरभउ कीए सेवक दास अपने सगले दूख बिदारै ॥
He makes His servants and slaves fearless, and takes away all their pain.
ਆਨ ਉਪਾਵ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਜਨ ਸਗਲੇ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਰਿਦ ਧਾਰੈ ॥੧॥
Aan Oupaav Thiaag Jan Sagalae Charan Kamal Ridh Dhhaarai ||1||
आन उपाव तिआगि जन सगले चरन कमल रिद धारै ॥१॥
So renounce all other efforts, and enshrine the Lord's Lotus Feet within your mind. ||1||
ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰ ਮੀਤ ਸਾਜਨ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਏਕੈ ਏਕੰਕਾਰੈ ॥
Praan Adhhaar Meeth Saajan Prabh Eaekai Eaekankaarai ||
प्रान अधार मीत साजन प्रभ एकै एकंकारै ॥
God is the Support of the breath of life, my Best Friend and Companion, the One and Only Creator of the Universe.
ਸਭ ਤੇ ਊਚ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾ ਬਾਰ ਬਾਰ ਨਮਸਕਾਰੈ ॥੨॥੪੯॥੭੨॥
Sabh Thae Ooch Thaakur Naanak Kaa Baar Baar Namasakaarai ||2||49||72||
सभ ते ऊच ठाकुरु नानक का बार बार नमसकारै ॥२॥४९॥७२॥
Nanak's Lord and Master is the Highest of all; again and again, I humbly bow to Him. ||2||49||72||

ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਹੈ ਕੋ ਕਹਾ ਬਤਾਵਹੁ ॥
Bin Har Hai Ko Kehaa Bathaavahu ||
बिनु हरि है को कहा बतावहु ॥
Tell me: other than the Lord, who exists?
ਸੁਖ ਸਮੂਹ ਕਰੁਣਾ ਮੈ ਕਰਤਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Sukh Samooh Karunaa Mai Karathaa This Prabh Sadhaa Dhhiaavahu ||1|| Rehaao ||
सुख समूह करुणा मै करता तिसु प्रभ सदा धिआवहु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
The Creator, the Embodiment of Mercy, bestows all comforts; meditate forever on that God. ||1||Pause||
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸੂਤਿ ਪਰੋਏ ਜੰਤਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਵਹੁ ॥
Jaa Kai Sooth Paroeae Janthaa This Prabh Kaa Jas Gaavahu ||
जा कै सूति परोए जंता तिसु प्रभ का जसु गावहु ॥
All creatures are strung on His Thread; sing the Praises of that God.
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਦੀਨਾ ਆਨ ਕਹਾ ਪਹਿ ਜਾਵਹੁ ॥੧॥
Simar Thaakur Jin Sabh Kishh Dheenaa Aan Kehaa Pehi Jaavahu ||1||
सिमरि ठाकुरु जिनि सभु किछु दीना आन कहा पहि जावहु ॥१॥
Meditate in remembrance on that Lord and Master who gives you everything. Why would you go to anyone else? ||1||
ਸਫਲ ਸੇਵਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੀ ਮਨ ਬਾਂਛਤ ਫਲ ਪਾਵਹੁ ॥
Safal Saevaa Suaamee Maerae Kee Man Baanshhath Fal Paavahu ||
सफल सेवा सुआमी मेरे की मन बांछत फल पावहु ॥
Service to my Lord and Master is fruitful and rewarding; from Him, you shall obtain the fruits of your mind's desires.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਲਾਭੁ ਲਾਹਾ ਲੈ ਚਾਲਹੁ ਸੁਖ ਸੇਤੀ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਵਹੁ ॥੨॥੫੦॥੭੩॥
Kahu Naanak Laabh Laahaa Lai Chaalahu Sukh Saethee Ghar Jaavahu ||2||50||73||
कहु नानक लाभु लाहा लै चालहु सुख सेती घरि जावहु ॥२॥५०॥७३॥
Says Nanak, take your profits and leave; you shall go to your true home in peace. ||2||50||73||

O my Lord and Master, I have come to Your Sanctuary.
ਉਤਰਿ ਗਇਓ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਕਾ ਸੰਸਾ ਜਬ ਤੇ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Outhar Gaeiou Maerae Man Kaa Sansaa Jab Thae Dharasan Paaeiaa ||1|| Rehaao ||
उतरि गइओ मेरे मन का संसा जब ते दरसनु पाइआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
The anxiety of my mind departed, when I gazed upon the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan. ||1||Pause||
ਅਨਬੋਲਤ ਮੇਰੀ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਾਨੀ ਅਪਨਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਾਇਆ ॥
Anabolath Maeree Birathhaa Jaanee Apanaa Naam Japaaeiaa ||
अनबोलत मेरी बिरथा जानी अपना नामु जपाइआ ॥
You know my condition, without my speaking. You inspire me to chant Your Name.
ਦੁਖ ਨਾਠੇ ਸੁਖ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਏ ਅਨਦ ਅਨਦ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
Dhukh Naathae Sukh Sehaj Samaaeae Anadh Anadh Gun Gaaeiaa ||1||
दुख नाठे सुख सहजि समाए अनद अनद गुण गाइआ ॥१॥
My pains are gone, and I am absorbed in peace, poise and bliss, singing Your Glorious Praises. ||1||
ਬਾਹ ਪਕਰਿ ਕਢਿ ਲੀਨੇ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਅੰਧ ਕੂਪ ਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
Baah Pakar Kadt Leenae Apunae Grih Andhh Koop Thae Maaeiaa ||
बाह पकरि कढि लीने अपुने ग्रिह अंध कूप ते माइआ ॥
Taking me by the arm, You lifted me up, out of the deep dark pit of household and Maya.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਿ ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟੇ ਬਿਛੁਰਤ ਆਨਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥੨॥੫੧॥੭੪॥
Kahu Naanak Gur Bandhhan Kaattae Bishhurath Aan Milaaeiaa ||2||51||74||
कहु नानक गुरि बंधन काटे बिछुरत आनि मिलाइआ ॥२॥५१॥७४॥
Says Nanak, the Guru has broken my bonds, and ended my separaation; He has united me with God. ||2||51||74||
