ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੁਗਧੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਚੇਤੈ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥
Manamukh Mugadhh Har Naam N Chaethai Birathhaa Janam Gavaaeiaa ||
मनमुख मुगधु हरि नामु न चेतै बिरथा जनमु गवाइआ ॥
The foolish self-willed manmukh does not remember the Lord's Name; he wastes away his life in vain.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟੇ ਤਾ ਨਾਉ ਪਾਏ ਹਉਮੈ ਮੋਹੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
Sathigur Bhaettae Thaa Naao Paaeae Houmai Mohu Chukaaeiaa ||3||
सतिगुरु भेटे ता नाउ पाए हउमै मोहु चुकाइआ ॥३॥
But when he meets the True Guru, then he obtains the Name; he sheds egotism and emotional attachment. ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਸਾਚੇ ਸਾਚੁ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥
Har Jan Saachae Saach Kamaavehi Gur Kai Sabadh Veechaaree ||
हरि जन साचे साचु कमावहि गुर कै सबदि वीचारी ॥
The Lord's humble servants are True - they practice Truth, and reflect upon the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਲਏ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਸਾਚੁ ਰਖਿਆ ਉਰ ਧਾਰੀ ॥
Aapae Mael Leae Prabh Saachai Saach Rakhiaa Our Dhhaaree ||
आपे मेलि लए प्रभि साचै साचु रखिआ उर धारी ॥
The True Lord God unites them with Himself, and they keep the True Lord enshrined in their hearts.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਵਹੁ ਗਤਿ ਮਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਏਹਾ ਰਾਸਿ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥੪॥੧॥

नानक नावहु गति मति पाई एहा रासि हमारी ॥४॥१॥
O Nanak, through the Name, I have obtained salvation and understanding; this alone is my wealth. ||4||1||

Bhagath Khajaanaa Bhagathan Ko Dheeaa Naao Har Dhhan Sach Soe ||
भगति खजाना भगतन कउ दीआ नाउ हरि धनु सचु सोइ ॥
The True Lord has blessed His devotees with the treasure of devotional worship, and the wealth of the Lord's Name.
ਅਖੁਟੁ ਨਾਮ ਧਨੁ ਕਦੇ ਨਿਖੁਟੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
Akhutt Naam Dhhan Kadhae Nikhuttai Naahee Kinai N Keemath Hoe ||
अखुटु नाम धनु कदे निखुटै नाही किनै न कीमति होइ ॥
The wealth of the Naam, shall never be exhausted; no one can estimate its worth.
ਨਾਮ ਧਨਿ ਮੁਖ ਉਜਲੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥
Naam Dhhan Mukh Oujalae Hoeae Har Paaeiaa Sach Soe ||1||
नाम धनि मुख उजले होए हरि पाइआ सचु सोइ ॥१॥
With the wealth of the Naam, their faces are radiant, and they attain the True Lord. ||1||
ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
Man Maerae Gur Sabadhee Har Paaeiaa Jaae ||
मन मेरे गुर सबदी हरि पाइआ जाइ ॥
O my mind, through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, the Lord is found.
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਜਗੁ ਭੁਲਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਦਰਗਹ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਜਾਇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Bin Sabadhai Jag Bhuladhaa Firadhaa Dharageh Milai Sajaae || Rehaao ||
बिनु सबदै जगु भुलदा फिरदा दरगह मिलै सजाइ ॥ रहाउ ॥
Without the Shabad, the world wanders around, and receives its punishment in the Court of the Lord. ||Pause||
ਇਸੁ ਦੇਹੀ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪੰਚ ਚੋਰ ਵਸਹਿ ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਲੋਭੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਅਹੰਕਾਰਾ ॥
Eis Dhaehee Andhar Panch Chor Vasehi Kaam Krodhh Lobh Mohu Ahankaaraa ||
इसु देही अंदरि पंच चोर वसहि कामु क्रोधु लोभु मोहु अहंकारा ॥
Within this body dwell the five thieves: sexual desire, anger, greed, emotional attachment and egotism.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਲੂਟਹਿ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਨਹੀ ਬੂਝਹਿ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਸੁਣੈ ਪੂਕਾਰਾ ॥
Anmrith Loottehi Manamukh Nehee Boojhehi Koe N Sunai Pookaaraa ||
अम्रितु लूटहि मनमुख नही बूझहि कोइ न सुणै पूकारा ॥
They plunder the Nectar, but the self-willed manmukh does not realize it; no one hears his complaint.
ਅੰਧਾ ਜਗਤੁ ਅੰਧੁ ਵਰਤਾਰਾ ਬਾਝੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਬਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
Andhhaa Jagath Andhh Varathaaraa Baajh Guroo Gubaaraa ||2||
अंधा जगतु अंधु वरतारा बाझु गुरू गुबारा ॥२॥
The world is blind, and its dealings are blind as well; without the Guru, there is only pitch darkness. ||2||
ਹਉਮੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਵਿਗੁਤੇ ਕਿਹੁ ਚਲੈ ਨ ਚਲਦਿਆ ਨਾਲਿ ॥
Houmai Maeraa Kar Kar Viguthae Kihu Chalai N Chaladhiaa Naal ||
हउमै मेरा करि करि विगुते किहु चलै न चलदिआ नालि ॥
Indulging in egotism and possessiveness, they are ruined; when they depart, nothing goes along with them.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵੈ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥
Guramukh Hovai S Naam Dhhiaavai Sadhaa Har Naam Samaal ||
गुरमुखि होवै सु नामु धिआवै सदा हरि नामु समालि ॥
But one who becomes Gurmukh meditates on the Naam, and ever contemplates the Lord's Name.
ਸਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਨਦਰੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲਿ ॥੩॥
Sachee Baanee Har Gun Gaavai Nadharee Nadhar Nihaal ||3||
सची बाणी हरि गुण गावै नदरी नदरि निहालि ॥३॥
Through the True Word of Gurbani, he sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord; blessed with the Lord's Glance of Grace, he is enraptured. ||3||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਘਟਿ ਚਾਨਣੁ ਅਮਰੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਬਾਦਿਸਾਹਾ ॥
Sathigur Giaan Sadhaa Ghatt Chaanan Amar Sir Baadhisaahaa ||
सतिगुर गिआनु सदा घटि चानणु अमरु सिरि बादिसाहा ॥
The spiritual wisdom of the True Guru is a steady light within the heart. The Lord's decree is over the heads of even kings.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਚੁ ਲਾਹਾ ॥
Anadhin Bhagath Karehi Dhin Raathee Raam Naam Sach Laahaa ||
अनदिनु भगति करहि दिनु राती राम नामु सचु लाहा ॥
Night and day, the Lord's devotees worship Him; night and day, they gather in the true profit of the Lord's Name.
ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਹਾ ॥੪॥੨॥
Naanak Raam Naam Nisathaaraa Sabadh Rathae Har Paahaa ||4||2||
नानक राम नामि निसतारा सबदि रते हरि पाहा ॥४॥२॥
O Nanak, through the Lord's Name, one is emancipated; attuned to the Shabad, he finds the Lord. ||4||2||

ਦਾਸਨਿ ਦਾਸੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਏ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਈ ॥
Dhaasan Dhaas Hovai Thaa Har Paaeae Vichahu Aap Gavaaee ||
दासनि दासु होवै ता हरि पाए विचहु आपु गवाई ॥
If one becomes the slave of the Lord's slaves, then he finds the Lord, and eradicates ego from within.
ਭਗਤਾ ਕਾ ਕਾਰਜੁ ਹਰਿ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਹੈ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈ ॥
Bhagathaa Kaa Kaaraj Har Anandh Hai Anadhin Har Gun Gaaee ||
भगता का कारजु हरि अनंदु है अनदिनु हरि गुण गाई ॥
The Lord of bliss is his object of devotion; night and day, he sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
ਸਬਦਿ ਰਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਇਕ ਰੰਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਰਹੇ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੧॥
Sabadh Rathae Sadhaa Eik Rangee Har Sio Rehae Samaaee ||1||
सबदि रते सदा इक रंगी हरि सिउ रहे समाई ॥१॥
Attuned to the Word of the Shabad, the Lord's devotees remain ever as one, absorbed in the Lord. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਸਾਚੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥
Har Jeeo Saachee Nadhar Thumaaree ||
हरि जीउ साची नदरि तुमारी ॥
O Dear Lord, Your Glance of Grace is True.
ਆਪਣਿਆ ਦਾਸਾ ਨੋ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਪੈਜ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Aapaniaa Dhaasaa No Kirapaa Kar Piaarae Raakhahu Paij Hamaaree || Rehaao ||
आपणिआ दासा नो क्रिपा करि पिआरे राखहु पैज हमारी ॥ रहाउ ॥
Show mercy to Your slave, O Beloved Lord, and preserve my honor. ||Pause||
ਸਬਦਿ ਸਲਾਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਹਉ ਜੀਵਾ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਭਉ ਭਾਗਾ ॥
Sabadh Salaahee Sadhaa Ho Jeevaa Guramathee Bho Bhaagaa ||
सबदि सलाही सदा हउ जीवा गुरमती भउ भागा ॥
Continually praising the Word of the Shabad, I live; under Guru's Instruction, my fear has been dispelled.
ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਅਤਿ ਸੁਆਲਿਉ ਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥
Maeraa Prabh Saachaa Ath Suaalio Gur Saeviaa Chith Laagaa ||
मेरा प्रभु साचा अति सुआलिउ गुरु सेविआ चितु लागा ॥
My True Lord God is so beautiful! Serving the Guru, my consciousness is focused on Him.
ਸਾਚਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਚੀ ਸਚੁ ਬਾਣੀ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਾਗਾ ॥੨॥
Saachaa Sabadh Sachee Sach Baanee So Jan Anadhin Jaagaa ||2||
साचा सबदु सची सचु बाणी सो जनु अनदिनु जागा ॥२॥
One who chants the True Word of the Shabad, and the Truest of the True, the Word of His Bani, remains wakeful, day and night. ||2||
ਮਹਾ ਗੰਭੀਰੁ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
Mehaa Ganbheer Sadhaa Sukhadhaathaa This Kaa Anth N Paaeiaa ||
महा ग्मभीरु सदा सुखदाता तिस का अंतु न पाइआ ॥
He is so very deep and profound, the Giver of eternal peace; no one can find His limit.
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕੀਨੀ ਅਚਿੰਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਇਆ ॥
Poorae Gur Kee Saevaa Keenee Achinth Har Mann Vasaaeiaa ||
पूरे गुर की सेवा कीनी अचिंतु हरि मंनि वसाइआ ॥
Serving the Perfect Guru, one becomes carefree, enshrining the Lord within the mind.
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
Man Than Niramal Sadhaa Sukh Anthar Vichahu Bharam Chukaaeiaa ||3||
मनु तनु निरमलु सदा सुखु अंतरि विचहु भरमु चुकाइआ ॥३॥
The mind and body become immaculately pure, and a lasting peace fills the heart; doubt is eradicated from within. ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਸਦਾ ਪੰਥੁ ਵਿਖੜਾ ਕੋ ਪਾਏ ਗੁਰ ਵੀਚਾਰਾ ॥
Har Kaa Maarag Sadhaa Panthh Vikharraa Ko Paaeae Gur Veechaaraa ||
हरि का मारगु सदा पंथु विखड़ा को पाए गुर वीचारा ॥
The Way of the Lord is always such a difficult path; only a few find it, contemplating the Guru.
ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ਸਬਦੇ ਮਾਤਾ ਹਉਮੈ ਤਜੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾ ॥
Har Kai Rang Raathaa Sabadhae Maathaa Houmai Thajae Vikaaraa ||
हरि कै रंगि राता सबदे माता हउमै तजे विकारा ॥
Imbued with the Lord's Love, and intoxicated with the Shabad, he renounces ego and corruption.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤਾ ਇਕ ਰੰਗੀ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਵਾਰਣਹਾਰਾ ॥੪॥੩॥
Naanak Naam Rathaa Eik Rangee Sabadh Savaaranehaaraa ||4||3||
नानक नामि रता इक रंगी सबदि सवारणहारा ॥४॥३॥
O Nanak, imbued with the Naam, and the Love of the One Lord, he is embellished with the Word of the Shabad. ||4||3||
