ਬੰਨੁ ਬਦੀਆ ਕਰਿ ਧਾਵਣੀ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਆਖੈ ਧੰਨੁ ॥
Bann Badheeaa Kar Dhhaavanee Thaa Ko Aakhai Dhhann ||
बंनु बदीआ करि धावणी ता को आखै धंनु ॥
Let your work be restraint from sin; only then will people call you blessed.
ਨਾਨਕ ਵੇਖੈ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਚੜੈ ਚਵਗਣ ਵੰਨੁ ॥੪॥੨॥
Naanak Vaekhai Nadhar Kar Charrai Chavagan Vann ||4||2||
नानक वेखै नदरि करि चड़ै चवगण वंनु ॥४॥२॥
O Nanak, the Lord shall look upon you with His Glance of Grace, and you shall be blessed with honor four times over. ||4||2||

ਮਾਇ ਬਾਪ ਕੋ ਬੇਟਾ ਨੀਕਾ ਸਸੁਰੈ ਚਤੁਰੁ ਜਵਾਈ ॥
Maae Baap Ko Baettaa Neekaa Sasurai Chathur Javaaee ||
माइ बाप को बेटा नीका ससुरै चतुरु जवाई ॥
The son is dear to his mother and father; he is the wise son-in-law to his father-in-law.
ਬਾਲ ਕੰਨਿਆ ਕੌ ਬਾਪੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਭਾਈ ਕੌ ਅਤਿ ਭਾਈ ॥
Baal Kanniaa Ka Baap Piaaraa Bhaaee Ka Ath Bhaaee ||
बाल कंनिआ कौ बापु पिआरा भाई कौ अति भाई ॥
The father is dear to his son and daughter, and the brother is very dear to his brother.
ਹੁਕਮੁ ਭਇਆ ਬਾਹਰੁ ਘਰੁ ਛੋਡਿਆ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਭਈ ਪਰਾਈ ॥
Hukam Bhaeiaa Baahar Ghar Shhoddiaa Khin Mehi Bhee Paraaee ||
हुकमु भइआ बाहरु घरु छोडिआ खिन महि भई पराई ॥
By the Order of the Lord's Command, he leaves his house and goes outside, and in an instant, everything becomes alien to him.
ਨਾਮੁ ਦਾਨੁ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ਨ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਤਿਤੁ ਤਨਿ ਧੂੜਿ ਧੁਮਾਈ ॥੧॥
Naam Dhaan Eisanaan N Manamukh Thith Than Dhhoorr Dhhumaaee ||1||
नामु दानु इसनानु न मनमुखि तितु तनि धूड़ि धुमाई ॥१॥
The self-willed manmukh does not remember the Name of the Lord, does not give in charity, and does not cleanse his consciousness; his body rolls in the dust. ||1||
ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਖਾਈ ॥
Man Maaniaa Naam Sakhaaee ||
मनु मानिआ नामु सखाई ॥
The mind is comforted by the Comforter of the Naam.
ਪਾਇ ਪਰਉ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਾਚੀ ਬੂਝ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

पाइ परउ गुर कै बलिहारै जिनि साची बूझ बुझाई ॥ रहाउ ॥
I fall at the Guru's feet - I am a sacrifice to Him; He has given me to understand the true understanding. ||Pause||
ਜਗ ਸਿਉ ਝੂਠ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਮਨੁ ਬੇਧਿਆ ਜਨ ਸਿਉ ਵਾਦੁ ਰਚਾਈ ॥
Jag Sio Jhooth Preeth Man Baedhhiaa Jan Sio Vaadh Rachaaee ||
जग सिउ झूठ प्रीति मनु बेधिआ जन सिउ वादु रचाई ॥
The mind is impressed with the false love of the world; he quarrels with the Lord's humble servant.
ਮਾਇਆ ਮਗਨੁ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਮਗੁ ਜੋਹੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਲੇਵੈ ਮਰੈ ਬਿਖੁ ਖਾਈ ॥
Maaeiaa Magan Ahinis Mag Johai Naam N Laevai Marai Bikh Khaaee ||
माइआ मगनु अहिनिसि मगु जोहै नामु न लेवै मरै बिखु खाई ॥
Infatuated with Maya, night and day, he sees only the worldly path; he does not chant the Naam, and drinking poison, he dies.
ਗੰਧਣ ਵੈਣਿ ਰਤਾ ਹਿਤਕਾਰੀ ਸਬਦੈ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਨ ਆਈ ॥
Gandhhan Vain Rathaa Hithakaaree Sabadhai Surath N Aaee ||
गंधण वैणि रता हितकारी सबदै सुरति न आई ॥
He is imbued and infatuated with vicious talk; the Word of the Shabad does not come into his consciousness.
ਰੰਗਿ ਨ ਰਾਤਾ ਰਸਿ ਨਹੀ ਬੇਧਿਆ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਪਤਿ ਗਵਾਈ ॥੨॥
Rang N Raathaa Ras Nehee Baedhhiaa Manamukh Path Gavaaee ||2||
रंगि न राता रसि नही बेधिआ मनमुखि पति गवाई ॥२॥
He is not imbued with the Lord's Love, and he is not impressed by the taste of the Name; the self-willed manmukh loses his honor. ||2||
ਸਾਧ ਸਭਾ ਮਹਿ ਸਹਜੁ ਨ ਚਾਖਿਆ ਜਿਹਬਾ ਰਸੁ ਨਹੀ ਰਾਈ ॥
Saadhh Sabhaa Mehi Sehaj N Chaakhiaa Jihabaa Ras Nehee Raaee ||
साध सभा महि सहजु न चाखिआ जिहबा रसु नही राई ॥
He does not enjoy celestial peace in the Company of the Holy, and there is not even a bit of sweetness on his tongue.
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਦਰ ਕੀ ਖਬਰਿ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥
Man Than Dhhan Apunaa Kar Jaaniaa Dhar Kee Khabar N Paaee ||
मनु तनु धनु अपुना करि जानिआ दर की खबरि न पाई ॥
He calls his mind, body and wealth his own; he has no knowledge of the Court of the Lord.
ਅਖੀ ਮੀਟਿ ਚਲਿਆ ਅੰਧਿਆਰਾ ਘਰੁ ਦਰੁ ਦਿਸੈ ਨ ਭਾਈ ॥
Akhee Meett Chaliaa Andhhiaaraa Ghar Dhar Dhisai N Bhaaee ||
अखी मीटि चलिआ अंधिआरा घरु दरु दिसै न भाई ॥
Closing his eyes, he walks in darkness; he cannot see the home of his own being, O Siblings of Destiny.
ਜਮ ਦਰਿ ਬਾਧਾ ਠਉਰ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਕੀਆ ਕਮਾਈ ॥੩॥
Jam Dhar Baadhhaa Thour N Paavai Apunaa Keeaa Kamaaee ||3||
जम दरि बाधा ठउर न पावै अपुना कीआ कमाई ॥३॥
Tied up at Death's door, he finds no place of rest; he receives the rewards of his own actions. ||3||
ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਤਾ ਅਖੀ ਵੇਖਾ ਕਹਣਾ ਕਥਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
Nadhar Karae Thaa Akhee Vaekhaa Kehanaa Kathhan N Jaaee ||
नदरि करे ता अखी वेखा कहणा कथनु न जाई ॥
When the Lord casts His Glance of Grace, then I see Him with my own eyes; He is indescribable, and cannot be described.
ਕੰਨੀ ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਲਾਹੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਵਸਾਈ ॥
Kannee Sun Sun Sabadh Salaahee Anmrith Ridhai Vasaaee ||
कंनी सुणि सुणि सबदि सलाही अम्रितु रिदै वसाई ॥
With my ears, I continually listen to the Word of the Shabad, and I praise Him; His Ambrosial Name abides within my heart.
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮਾਈ ॥
Nirabho Nirankaar Niravair Pooran Joth Samaaee ||
निरभउ निरंकारु निरवैरु पूरन जोति समाई ॥
He is Fearless, Formless and absolutely without vengeance; I am absorbed in His Perfect Light.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਵਿਣੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਨ ਭਾਗੈ ਸਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੪॥੩॥

नानक गुर विणु भरमु न भागै सचि नामि वडिआई ॥४॥३॥
O Nanak, without the Guru, doubt is not dispelled; through the True Name, glorious greatness is obtained. ||4||3||

पुड़ु धरती पुड़ु पाणी आसणु चारि कुंट चउबारा ॥
In the realm of land, and in the realm of water, Your seat is the chamber of the four directions.
ਸਗਲ ਭਵਣ ਕੀ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਏਕਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਤੇਰੈ ਟਕਸਾਲਾ ॥੧॥
Sagal Bhavan Kee Moorath Eaekaa Mukh Thaerai Ttakasaalaa ||1||
सगल भवण की मूरति एका मुखि तेरै टकसाला ॥१॥
Yours is the one and only form of the entire universe; Your mouth is the mint to fashion all. ||1||

ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਭਰਿਪੁਰਿ ਲੀਣਾ ਆਪੇ ਸਰਬ ਸਮਾਣਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Jal Thhal Meheeal Bharipur Leenaa Aapae Sarab Samaanaa || Rehaao ||
जलि थलि महीअलि भरिपुरि लीणा आपे सरब समाणा ॥ रहाउ ॥
You are pervading and permeating the water, the land and the sky; You Yourself are contained in all. ||Pause||
ਜਹ ਜਹ ਦੇਖਾ ਤਹ ਜੋਤਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਰੂਪੁ ਕਿਨੇਹਾ ॥
Jeh Jeh Dhaekhaa Theh Joth Thumaaree Thaeraa Roop Kinaehaa ||
जह जह देखा तह जोति तुमारी तेरा रूपु किनेहा ॥
Wherever I look, there I see Your Light, but what is Your form?
ਇਕਤੁ ਰੂਪਿ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਪਰਛੰਨਾ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਕਿਸ ਹੀ ਜੇਹਾ ॥੨॥
Eikath Roop Firehi Parashhannaa Koe N Kis Hee Jaehaa ||2||
इकतु रूपि फिरहि परछंना कोइ न किस ही जेहा ॥२॥
You have one form, but it is unseen; there is none like any other. ||2||
ਅੰਡਜ ਜੇਰਜ ਉਤਭੁਜ ਸੇਤਜ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਜੰਤਾ ॥
Anddaj Jaeraj Outhabhuj Saethaj Thaerae Keethae Janthaa ||
अंडज जेरज उतभुज सेतज तेरे कीते जंता ॥
The beings born of eggs, born of the womb, born of the earth and born of sweat, all are created by You.
ਏਕੁ ਪੁਰਬੁ ਮੈ ਤੇਰਾ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਤੂ ਸਭਨਾ ਮਾਹਿ ਰਵੰਤਾ ॥੩॥
Eaek Purab Mai Thaeraa Dhaekhiaa Thoo Sabhanaa Maahi Ravanthaa ||3||
एकु पुरबु मै तेरा देखिआ तू सभना माहि रवंता ॥३॥
I have seen one glory of Yours, that You are pervading and permeating in all. ||3||
ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਬਹੁਤੇ ਮੈ ਏਕੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਮੈ ਮੂਰਖ ਕਿਛੁ ਦੀਜੈ ॥

तेरे गुण बहुते मै एकु न जाणिआ मै मूरख किछु दीजै ॥
Your Glories are so numerous, and I do not know even one of them; I am such a fool - please, give me some of them!

I am a wicked sinner and a great hypocrite; You are the Immaculate and Formless Lord.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਚਾਖਿ ਪਰਮ ਰਸਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਸਰਣਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥੧॥

अम्रितु चाखि परम रसि राते ठाकुर सरणि तुमारी ॥१॥

करता तू मै माणु निमाणे ॥
O Creator Lord, You are the honor of the dishonored.

माणु महतु नामु धनु पलै साचै सबदि समाणे ॥ रहाउ ॥

ਤੂ ਪੂਰਾ ਹਮ ਊਰੇ ਹੋਛੇ ਤੂ ਗਉਰਾ ਹਮ ਹਉਰੇ ॥

तू पूरा हम ऊरे होछे तू गउरा हम हउरे ॥
You are perfect, while I am worthless and imperfect. You are profound, while I am trivial.
