ਮਦਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੈ ਭਇਓ ਬਾਵਰੋ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਨਹਿ ਉਚਰੈ ॥
Madh Maaeiaa Kai Bhaeiou Baavaro Har Jas Nehi Oucharai ||
मदि माइआ कै भइओ बावरो हरि जसु नहि उचरै ॥
It has gone insane with the intoxication of Maya; it does not chant the Lord's Praise.
ਕਰਿ ਪਰਪੰਚੁ ਜਗਤ ਕਉ ਡਹਕੈ ਅਪਨੋ ਉਦਰੁ ਭਰੈ ॥੧॥
Kar Parapanch Jagath Ko Ddehakai Apano Oudhar Bharai ||1||
करि परपंचु जगत कउ डहकै अपनो उदरु भरै ॥१॥
Practicing deception, it tries to cheat the world, and so it fills its belly. ||1||
ਸੁਆਨ ਪੂਛ ਜਿਉ ਹੋਇ ਨ ਸੂਧੋ ਕਹਿਓ ਨ ਕਾਨ ਧਰੈ ॥
Suaan Pooshh Jio Hoe N Soodhho Kehiou N Kaan Dhharai ||
सुआन पूछ जिउ होइ न सूधो कहिओ न कान धरै ॥
Like a dog's tail, it cannot be straightened; it will not listen to what I tell it.

Than Thae Praan Hoth Jab Niaarae Ttaerath Praeth Pukaar ||
तन ते प्रान होत जब निआरे टेरत प्रेति पुकारि ॥
When the soul is separated from the body, then they will cry out, calling you a ghost.
ਆਧ ਘਰੀ ਕੋਊ ਨਹਿ ਰਾਖੈ ਘਰ ਤੇ ਦੇਤ ਨਿਕਾਰਿ ॥੧॥
Aadhh Gharee Kooo Nehi Raakhai Ghar Thae Dhaeth Nikaar ||1||
आध घरी कोऊ नहि राखै घर ते देत निकारि ॥१॥
No one will let you stay, for even half an hour; they drive you out of the house. ||1||
ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਜਿਉ ਜਗ ਰਚਨਾ ਯਹ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਬਿਚਾਰਿ ॥
Mrig Thrisanaa Jio Jag Rachanaa Yeh Dhaekhahu Ridhai Bichaar ||
म्रिग त्रिसना जिउ जग रचना यह देखहु रिदै बिचारि ॥
The created world is like an illusion, a mirage - see this, and reflect upon it in your mind.

ਮੇਰਉ ਮੇਰਉ ਸਭੈ ਕਹਤ ਹੈ ਹਿਤ ਸਿਉ ਬਾਧਿਓ ਚੀਤ ॥
Maero Maero Sabhai Kehath Hai Hith Sio Baadhhiou Cheeth ||
मेरउ मेरउ सभै कहत है हित सिउ बाधिओ चीत ॥
All say, ""Mine, mine"", and attach their consciousness to you with love.
ਅੰਤਿ ਕਾਲਿ ਸੰਗੀ ਨਹ ਕੋਊ ਇਹ ਅਚਰਜ ਹੈ ਰੀਤਿ ॥੧॥
Anth Kaal Sangee Neh Kooo Eih Acharaj Hai Reeth ||1||
अंति कालि संगी नह कोऊ इह अचरज है रीति ॥१॥
But at the very last moment, none shall go along with you. How strange are the ways of the world! ||1||
ਮਨ ਮੂਰਖ ਅਜਹੂ ਨਹ ਸਮਝਤ ਸਿਖ ਦੈ ਹਾਰਿਓ ਨੀਤ ॥
Man Moorakh Ajehoo Neh Samajhath Sikh Dhai Haariou Neeth ||
मन मूरख अजहू नह समझत सिख दै हारिओ नीत ॥
The foolish mind has not yet reformed itself, although I have grown weary of continually instructing it.
