So Sathigur Thin Ko Bhaettiaa Jin Kai Mukh Masathak Bhaag Likh Paaeiaa ||7||
सो सतिगुरु तिन कउ भेटिआ जिन कै मुखि मसतकि भागु लिखि पाइआ ॥७॥
The True Guru meets with those upon whose foreheads such blessed destiny is recorded. ||7||

ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਮਰਜੀਵੜੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਸਦਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
Bhagath Karehi Marajeevarrae Guramukh Bhagath Sadhaa Hoe ||
भगति करहि मरजीवड़े गुरमुखि भगति सदा होइ ॥
They alone worship the Lord, who remain dead while yet alive; the Gurmukhs worship the Lord continually.
ਓਨਾ ਕਉ ਧੁਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਖਜਾਨਾ ਬਖਸਿਆ ਮੇਟਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
Ounaa Ko Dhhur Bhagath Khajaanaa Bakhasiaa Maett N Sakai Koe ||
ओना कउ धुरि भगति खजाना बखसिआ मेटि न सकै कोइ ॥
The Lord blesses them with the treasure of devotional worship, which no one can destroy.
ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਮਨਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਏਕੋ ਸਚਾ ਸੋਇ ॥
Gun Nidhhaan Man Paaeiaa Eaeko Sachaa Soe ||
गुण निधानु मनि पाइआ एको सचा सोइ ॥
They obtain the treasure of virtue, the One True Lord, within their minds.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਵਿਛੋੜਾ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥

नानक गुरमुखि मिलि रहे फिरि विछोड़ा कदे न होइ ॥१॥
O Nanak, the Gurmukhs remain united with the Lord; they shall never be separated again. ||1||

सतिगुर की सेव न कीनीआ किआ ओहु करे वीचारु ॥
He does not serve the True Guru; how can he reflect upon the Lord?
ਸਬਦੈ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣਈ ਬਿਖੁ ਭੂਲਾ ਗਾਵਾਰੁ ॥
Sabadhai Saar N Jaanee Bikh Bhoolaa Gaavaar ||
सबदै सार न जाणई बिखु भूला गावारु ॥
He does not appreciate the value of the Shabad; the fool wanders in corruption and sin.
ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਅੰਧੁ ਬਹੁ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
Agiaanee Andhh Bahu Karam Kamaavai Dhoojai Bhaae Piaar ||
अगिआनी अंधु बहु करम कमावै दूजै भाइ पिआरु ॥
The blind and ignorant perform all sorts of ritualistic actions; they are in love with duality.
ਅਣਹੋਦਾ ਆਪੁ ਗਣਾਇਦੇ ਜਮੁ ਮਾਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਤਿਨ ਖੁਆਰੁ ॥
Anehodhaa Aap Ganaaeidhae Jam Maar Karae Thin Khuaar ||
अणहोदा आपु गणाइदे जमु मारि करे तिन खुआरु ॥
Those who take unjustified pride in themselves, are punished and humiliated by the Messenger of Death.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਖੀਐ ਜਾ ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੨॥

नानक किस नो आखीऐ जा आपे बखसणहारु ॥२॥

तू करता सभु किछु जाणदा सभि जीअ तुमारे ॥
You, O Creator, know all things; all beings belong to You.
ਜਿਸੁ ਤੂ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਤੂ ਮੇਲਿ ਲੈਹਿ ਕਿਆ ਜੰਤ ਵਿਚਾਰੇ ॥

जिसु तू भावै तिसु तू मेलि लैहि किआ जंत विचारे ॥
Those who are pleasing to You, You unite with Yourself; what can the poor creatures do?
ਤੂ ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਹੈ ਸਚੁ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰੇ ॥

तू करण कारण समरथु है सचु सिरजणहारे ॥
You are all-powerful, the Cause of causes, the True Creator Lord.
ਜਿਸੁ ਤੂ ਮੇਲਹਿ ਪਿਆਰਿਆ ਸੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ॥
Jis Thoo Maelehi Piaariaa So Thudhh Milai Guramukh Veechaarae ||
जिसु तू मेलहि पिआरिआ सो तुधु मिलै गुरमुखि वीचारे ॥
Only those unite with you, Beloved Lord, whom you approve and who meditate on Guru's Word.
ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਜਿਨਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਅਲਖੁ ਲਖਾਰੇ ॥੮॥
Ho Balihaaree Sathigur Aapanae Jin Maeraa Har Alakh Lakhaarae ||8||
हउ बलिहारी सतिगुर आपणे जिनि मेरा हरि अलखु लखारे ॥८॥
I am a sacrifice to my True Guru, who has allowed me to see my unseen Lord. ||8||

Rathanaa Paarakh Jo Hovai S Rathanaa Karae Veechaar ||
रतना पारखु जो होवै सु रतना करे वीचारु ॥
He is the Assayer of jewels; He contemplates the jewel.
ਰਤਨਾ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣਈ ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਅੰਧੁ ਅੰਧਾਰੁ ॥
Rathanaa Saar N Jaanee Agiaanee Andhh Andhhaar ||
रतना सार न जाणई अगिआनी अंधु अंधारु ॥
He is ignorant and totally blind - he does not appreciate the value of the jewel.
ਰਤਨੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਹੈ ਬੂਝੈ ਬੂਝਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
Rathan Guroo Kaa Sabadh Hai Boojhai Boojhanehaar ||
रतनु गुरू का सबदु है बूझै बूझणहारु ॥
The Jewel is the Word of the Guru's Shabad; the Knower alone knows it.
ਮੂਰਖ ਆਪੁ ਗਣਾਇਦੇ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਹੋਇ ਖੁਆਰੁ ॥
Moorakh Aap Ganaaeidhae Mar Janmehi Hoe Khuaar ||
मूरख आपु गणाइदे मरि जमहि होइ खुआरु ॥
The fools take pride in themselves, and are ruined in birth and death.
ਨਾਨਕ ਰਤਨਾ ਸੋ ਲਹੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਲਗੈ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
Naanak Rathanaa So Lehai Jis Guramukh Lagai Piaar ||
नानक रतना सो लहै जिसु गुरमुखि लगै पिआरु ॥
O Nanak, he alone obtains the jewel, who, as Gurmukh, enshrines love for it.
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਚਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੋ ਨਿਤ ਬਿਉਹਾਰੁ ॥
Sadhaa Sadhaa Naam Oucharai Har Naamo Nith Biouhaar ||
सदा सदा नामु उचरै हरि नामो नित बिउहारु ॥
Chanting the Naam, the Name of the Lord, forever and ever, make the Name of the Lord your daily occupation.
ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਜੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਰਖਾ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ ॥੧॥
Kirapaa Karae Jae Aapanee Thaa Har Rakhaa Our Dhhaar ||1||
क्रिपा करे जे आपणी ता हरि रखा उर धारि ॥१॥
If the Lord shows His Mercy, then I keep Him enshrined within my heart. ||1||

सतिगुर की सेव न कीनीआ हरि नामि न लगो पिआरु ॥
They do not serve the True Guru, and they do not embrace love for the Lord's Name.
ਮਤ ਤੁਮ ਜਾਣਹੁ ਓਇ ਜੀਵਦੇ ਓਇ ਆਪਿ ਮਾਰੇ ਕਰਤਾਰਿ ॥
Math Thum Jaanahu Oue Jeevadhae Oue Aap Maarae Karathaar ||
मत तुम जाणहु ओइ जीवदे ओइ आपि मारे करतारि ॥
Do not even think that they are alive - the Creator Lord Himself has killed them.
ਹਉਮੈ ਵਡਾ ਰੋਗੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਇ ਦੂਜੈ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
Houmai Vaddaa Rog Hai Bhaae Dhoojai Karam Kamaae ||
हउमै वडा रोगु है भाइ दूजै करम कमाइ ॥
Egotism is such a terrible disease; in the love of duality, they do their deeds.
ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਜੀਵਦਿਆ ਮੁਏ ਹਰਿ ਵਿਸਰਿਆ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇ ॥੨॥
Naanak Manamukh Jeevadhiaa Mueae Har Visariaa Dhukh Paae ||2||
नानक मनमुखि जीवदिआ मुए हरि विसरिआ दुखु पाइ ॥२॥
O Nanak, the self-willed manmukhs are in a living death; forgetting the Lord, they suffer in pain. ||2||

Jis Anthar Hiradhaa Sudhh Hai This Jan Ko Sabh Namasakaaree ||
जिसु अंतरु हिरदा सुधु है तिसु जन कउ सभि नमसकारी ॥
Let all bow in reverence, to that humble being whose heart is pure within.
ਜਿਸੁ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਹੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥
Jis Andhar Naam Nidhhaan Hai This Jan Ko Ho Balihaaree ||
जिसु अंदरि नामु निधानु है तिसु जन कउ हउ बलिहारी ॥
I am a sacrifice to that humble being whose mind is filled with the treasure of the Naam.
ਜਿਸੁ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਬੁਧਿ ਬਿਬੇਕੁ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥
Jis Andhar Budhh Bibaek Hai Har Naam Muraaree ||
जिसु अंदरि बुधि बिबेकु है हरि नामु मुरारी ॥
He has a discriminating intellect; he meditates on the Name of the Lord.
ਸੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਭਨਾ ਕਾ ਮਿਤੁ ਹੈ ਸਭ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥
So Sathigur Sabhanaa Kaa Mith Hai Sabh Thisehi Piaaree ||
सो सतिगुरु सभना का मितु है सभ तिसहि पिआरी ॥
That True Guru is a friend to all; everyone is dear to Him.
ਸਭੁ ਆਤਮ ਰਾਮੁ ਪਸਾਰਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਬੁਧਿ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ॥੯॥
Sabh Aatham Raam Pasaariaa Gur Budhh Beechaaree ||9||
सभु आतम रामु पसारिआ गुर बुधि बीचारी ॥९॥
The Lord, the Supreme Soul, is pervading everywhere; reflect upon the wisdom of the Guru's Teachings. ||9||

बिनु सतिगुर सेवे जीअ के बंधना विचि हउमै करम कमाहि ॥
Without serving the True Guru, the soul is in the bondage of deeds done in ego.
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਠਉਰ ਨ ਪਾਵਹੀ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਆਵਹਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥
Bin Sathigur Saevae Thour N Paavehee Mar Janmehi Aavehi Jaahi ||
बिनु सतिगुर सेवे ठउर न पावही मरि जमहि आवहि जाहि ॥
Without serving the True Guru, one finds no place of rest; he dies, and is reincarnated, and continues coming and going.
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਫਿਕਾ ਬੋਲਣਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਵਸੈ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
Bin Sathigur Saevae Fikaa Bolanaa Naam N Vasai Man Maahi ||
बिनु सतिगुर सेवे फिका बोलणा नामु न वसै मन माहि ॥
Without serving the True Guru, one's speech is vapid and insipid; the Naam, the Name of the Lord, does not abide in his mind.
