हउ मुठड़ी धंधै धावणीआ पिरि छोडिअड़ी विधणकारे ॥
I too have been defrauded, chasing after worldly entanglements; my Husband Lord has forsaken me - I practice the evil deeds of a wife without a spouse.
ਘਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਕੰਤੁ ਮਹੇਲੀਆ ਰੂੜੈ ਹੇਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
Ghar Ghar Kanth Mehaeleeaa Roorrai Haeth Piaarae ||
घरि घरि कंतु महेलीआ रूड़ै हेति पिआरे ॥
In each and every home, are the brides of the Husband Lord; they gaze upon their Handsome Lord with love and affection.

Meeting with the Guru, the soul-bride's dress is transformed, and she is adorned with Truth.

जिनि जगु सिरजि समाइआ सो साहिबु कुदरति जाणोवा ॥
The One who creates and dissolves the world - that Lord and Master alone knows His creative power.
ਸਚੜਾ ਦੂਰਿ ਨ ਭਾਲੀਐ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਪਛਾਣੋਵਾ ॥

सचड़ा दूरि न भालीऐ घटि घटि सबदु पछाणोवा ॥
Do not search for the True Lord far away; recognize the Word of the Shabad in each and every heart.

सचु सबदु पछाणहु दूरि न जाणहु जिनि एह रचना राची ॥
Recognize the Shabad, and do not think that the Lord is far away; He created this creation.

नामु धिआए ता सुखु पाए बिनु नावै पिड़ काची ॥
Meditating on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, one obtains peace; without the Naam, he plays a losing game.

Baabaa Aaeiaa Hai Outh Chalanaa Adhh Pandhhai Hai Sansaarovaa ||
बाबा आइआ है उठि चलणा अध पंधै है संसारोवा ॥
O Baba, he has come, and now he must get up and depart; this world is only a way-station.
ਸਿਰਿ ਸਿਰਿ ਸਚੜੈ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਦੁਖੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਪੁਰਬਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੋਵਾ ॥

सिरि सिरि सचड़ै लिखिआ दुखु सुखु पुरबि वीचारोवा ॥
Upon each and every head, the True Lord writes their destiny of pain and pleasure, according to their past actions.
ਦੁਖੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਦੀਆ ਜੇਹਾ ਕੀਆ ਸੋ ਨਿਬਹੈ ਜੀਅ ਨਾਲੇ ॥
Dhukh Sukh Dheeaa Jaehaa Keeaa So Nibehai Jeea Naalae ||
दुखु सुखु दीआ जेहा कीआ सो निबहै जीअ नाले ॥
He bestows pain and pleasure, according to the deeds done; the record of these deeds stays with the soul.
ਜੇਹੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਾਏ ਕਰਤਾ ਦੂਜੀ ਕਾਰ ਨ ਭਾਲੇ ॥
Jaehae Karam Karaaeae Karathaa Dhoojee Kaar N Bhaalae ||
जेहे करम कराए करता दूजी कार न भाले ॥
He does those deeds which the Creator Lord causes him to do; he attempts no other actions.
ਆਪਿ ਨਿਰਾਲਮੁ ਧੰਧੈ ਬਾਧੀ ਕਰਿ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਛਡਾਵਣਹਾਰੋ ॥
Aap Niraalam Dhhandhhai Baadhhee Kar Hukam Shhaddaavanehaaro ||
आपि निरालमु धंधै बाधी करि हुकमु छडावणहारो ॥
The Lord Himself is detached, while the world is entangled in conflict; by His Command, He emancipates it.
ਅਜੁ ਕਲਿ ਕਰਦਿਆ ਕਾਲੁ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਵਿਕਾਰੋ ॥੨॥
Aj Kal Karadhiaa Kaal Biaapai Dhoojai Bhaae Vikaaro ||2||
अजु कलि करदिआ कालु बिआपै दूजै भाइ विकारो ॥२॥
He may put this off today, but tomorrow he is seized by death; in love with duality, he practices corruption. ||2||
ਜਮ ਮਾਰਗ ਪੰਥੁ ਨ ਸੁਝਈ ਉਝੜੁ ਅੰਧ ਗੁਬਾਰੋਵਾ ॥
Jam Maarag Panthh N Sujhee Oujharr Andhh Gubaarovaa ||
जम मारग पंथु न सुझई उझड़ु अंध गुबारोवा ॥
The path of death is dark and dismal; the way cannot be seen.
ਨਾ ਜਲੁ ਲੇਫ ਤੁਲਾਈਆ ਨਾ ਭੋਜਨ ਪਰਕਾਰੋਵਾ ॥
Naa Jal Laef Thulaaeeaa Naa Bhojan Parakaarovaa ||
ना जलु लेफ तुलाईआ ना भोजन परकारोवा ॥
There is no water, no quilt or mattress, and no food there.
ਭੋਜਨ ਭਾਉ ਨ ਠੰਢਾ ਪਾਣੀ ਨਾ ਕਾਪੜੁ ਸੀਗਾਰੋ ॥
Bhojan Bhaao N Thandtaa Paanee Naa Kaaparr Seegaaro ||
भोजन भाउ न ठंढा पाणी ना कापड़ु सीगारो ॥
He receives no food there, no honor or water, no clothes or decorations.
ਗਲਿ ਸੰਗਲੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਮਾਰੇ ਊਭੌ ਨਾ ਦੀਸੈ ਘਰ ਬਾਰੋ ॥
Gal Sangal Sir Maarae Oobha Naa Dheesai Ghar Baaro ||
गलि संगलु सिरि मारे ऊभौ ना दीसै घर बारो ॥
The chain is put around his neck, and the Messenger of Death standing over his head strikes him; he cannot see the door of his home.
ਇਬ ਕੇ ਰਾਹੇ ਜੰਮਨਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਪਛੁਤਾਣੇ ਸਿਰਿ ਭਾਰੋ ॥
Eib Kae Raahae Janman Naahee Pashhuthaanae Sir Bhaaro ||
इब के राहे जमनि नाही पछुताणे सिरि भारो ॥
The seeds planted on this path do not sprout; bearing the weight of his sins upon his head, he regrets and repents.
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਾਚੇ ਕੋ ਬੇਲੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਸਾਚਾ ਏਹੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੋ ॥੩॥
Bin Saachae Ko Baelee Naahee Saachaa Eaehu Beechaaro ||3||
बिनु साचे को बेली नाही साचा एहु बीचारो ॥३॥
Without the True Lord, no one is his friend; reflect upon this as true. ||3||
ਬਾਬਾ ਰੋਵਹਿ ਰਵਹਿ ਸੁ ਜਾਣੀਅਹਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਰੋਵੈ ਗੁਣ ਸਾਰੇਵਾ ॥
Baabaa Rovehi Ravehi S Jaaneeahi Mil Rovai Gun Saaraevaa ||
बाबा रोवहि रवहि सु जाणीअहि मिलि रोवै गुण सारेवा ॥
O Baba, they alone are known to truly weep and wail, who meet together and weep, chanting the Praises of the Lord.
ਰੋਵੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੁਠੜੀ ਧੰਧੜਾ ਰੋਵਣਹਾਰੇਵਾ ॥

रोवै माइआ मुठड़ी धंधड़ा रोवणहारेवा ॥
Defrauded by Maya and worldly affairs, the weepers weep.
ਧੰਧਾ ਰੋਵੈ ਮੈਲੁ ਨ ਧੋਵੈ ਸੁਪਨੰਤਰੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੋ ॥
Dhhandhhaa Rovai Mail N Dhhovai Supananthar Sansaaro ||
धंधा रोवै मैलु न धोवै सुपनंतरु संसारो ॥
They weep for the sake of worldly affairs, and they do not wash off their own filth; the world is merely a dream.
ਜਿਉ ਬਾਜੀਗਰੁ ਭਰਮੈ ਭੂਲੈ ਝੂਠਿ ਮੁਠੀ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੋ ॥
Jio Baajeegar Bharamai Bhoolai Jhooth Muthee Ahankaaro ||
जिउ बाजीगरु भरमै भूलै झूठि मुठी अहंकारो ॥
Like the juggler, deceiving by his tricks, one is deluded by egotism, falsehood and illusion.
ਆਪੇ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਪਾਵਣਹਾਰਾ ਆਪੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਏ ॥
Aapae Maarag Paavanehaaraa Aapae Karam Kamaaeae ||
आपे मारगि पावणहारा आपे करम कमाए ॥
The Lord Himself reveals the Path; He Himself is the Doer of deeds.
ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਰਾਖੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥੪॥੪॥
Naam Rathae Gur Poorai Raakhae Naanak Sehaj Subhaaeae ||4||4||
नामि रते गुरि पूरै राखे नानक सहजि सुभाए ॥४॥४॥
Those who are imbued with the Naam, are protected by the Perfect Guru, O Nanak; they merge in celestial bliss. ||4||4||

ਸਚਾ ਘਰੁ ਸਚੜੈ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਸਚੁ ਖਰਾ ਸਚਿਆਰੋਵਾ ॥
Sachaa Ghar Sacharrai Saeveeai Sach Kharaa Sachiaarovaa ||
सचा घरु सचड़ै सेवीऐ सचु खरा सचिआरोवा ॥
One's true home is obtained by serving the True Lord; real Truth is obtained by being truthful.
ਕੂੜਿ ਲਬਿ ਜਾਂ ਥਾਇ ਨ ਪਾਸੀ ਅਗੈ ਲਹੈ ਨ ਠਾਓ ॥
Koorr Lab Jaan Thhaae N Paasee Agai Lehai N Thaaou ||
कूड़ि लबि जां थाइ न पासी अगै लहै न ठाओ ॥
By falsehood and greed, no place of rest is found, and no place in the world hereafter is obtained.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਆਉ ਨ ਬੈਸਹੁ ਕਹੀਐ ਜਿਉ ਸੁੰਞੈ ਘਰਿ ਕਾਓ ॥
Anthar Aao N Baisahu Keheeai Jio Sunnjai Ghar Kaaou ||
अंतरि आउ न बैसहु कहीऐ जिउ सुंञै घरि काओ ॥
No one invites him to come in and sit down. He is like a crow in a deserted home.
ਜੰਮਣੁ ਮਰਣੁ ਵਡਾ ਵੇਛੋੜਾ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਜਗੁ ਸਬਾਏ ॥
Janman Maran Vaddaa Vaeshhorraa Binasai Jag Sabaaeae ||
जमणु मरणु वडा वेछोड़ा बिनसै जगु सबाए ॥
Trapped by birth and death, he is separated from the Lord for such a long time; the whole world is wasting away.
ਲਬਿ ਧੰਧੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਜਗਤੁ ਭੁਲਾਇਆ ਕਾਲੁ ਖੜਾ ਰੂਆਏ ॥੧॥

लबि धंधै माइआ जगतु भुलाइआ कालु खड़ा रूआए ॥१॥
Greed, worldly entanglements and Maya deceive the world. Death hovers over its head, and causes it to weep. ||1||
