सलोकु मः ३ ॥
Shalok, Third Mehl:
ਭੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਸਭੁ ਆਕਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਸੋਇ ॥
Bhai Vich Sabh Aakaar Hai Nirabho Har Jeeo Soe ||
भै विचि सभु आकारु है निरभउ हरि जीउ सोइ ॥
The entire universe is in fear; only the Dear Lord is fearless.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਤਿਥੈ ਭਉ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
Sathigur Saeviai Har Man Vasai Thithhai Bho Kadhae N Hoe ||
सतिगुरि सेविऐ हरि मनि वसै तिथै भउ कदे न होइ ॥
Serving the True Guru, the Lord comes to dwell in the mind, and then, fear cannot stay there.
ਦੁਸਮਨੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਪੋਹਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
Dhusaman Dhukh This No Naerr N Aavai Pohi N Sakai Koe ||
दुसमनु दुखु तिस नो नेड़ि न आवै पोहि न सकै कोइ ॥
Enemies and pain cannot come close, and no one can touch him.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਨਿ ਵੀਚਾਰਿਆ ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
Guramukh Man Veechaariaa Jo This Bhaavai S Hoe ||
गुरमुखि मनि वीचारिआ जो तिसु भावै सु होइ ॥
The Gurmukh reflects upon the Lord in his mind; whatever pleases the Lord - that alone comes to pass.
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਪਤਿ ਰਖਸੀ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਵਾਰੇ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥
Naanak Aapae Hee Path Rakhasee Kaaraj Savaarae Soe ||1||
नानक आपे ही पति रखसी कारज सवारे सोइ ॥१॥
O Nanak, He Himself preserves one's honor; He alone resolves our affairs. ||1||-

Third Mehl:
ਇਕਿ ਸਜਣ ਚਲੇ ਇਕਿ ਚਲਿ ਗਏ ਰਹਦੇ ਭੀ ਫੁਨਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥
Eik Sajan Chalae Eik Chal Geae Rehadhae Bhee Fun Jaahi ||
इकि सजण चले इकि चलि गए रहदे भी फुनि जाहि ॥
Some friends are leaving, some have already left, and those remaining will eventually leave.
ਜਿਨੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਨ ਸੇਵਿਓ ਸੇ ਆਇ ਗਏ ਪਛੁਤਾਹਿ ॥
Jinee Sathigur N Saeviou Sae Aae Geae Pashhuthaahi ||
जिनी सतिगुरु न सेविओ से आइ गए पछुताहि ॥
Those who do not serve the True Guru, come and go regretting.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੇ ਨ ਵਿਛੁੜਹਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥੨॥
Naanak Sach Rathae Sae N Vishhurrehi Sathigur Saev Samaahi ||2||
नानक सचि रते से न विछुड़हि सतिगुरु सेवि समाहि ॥२॥
O Nanak, those who are attuned to Truth are not separated; serving the True Guru, they merge into the Lord. ||2||

ਤਿਸੁ ਮਿਲੀਐ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਜਣੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣਕਾਰੀ ॥
This Mileeai Sathigur Sajanai Jis Anthar Har Gunakaaree ||
तिसु मिलीऐ सतिगुर सजणै जिसु अंतरि हरि गुणकारी ॥
Meet with that True Guru, the True Friend, within whose mind the Lord, the virtuous One, abides.
ਤਿਸੁ ਮਿਲੀਐ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਹੰਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਮਾਰੀ ॥
This Mileeai Sathigur Preethamai Jin Hanoumai Vichahu Maaree ||
तिसु मिलीऐ सतिगुर प्रीतमै जिनि हंउमै विचहु मारी ॥
Meet with that Beloved True Guru, who has subdued ego from within himself.
ਸੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਦੇ ਸਭ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ੍ਟਿ ਸਵਾਰੀ ॥
So Sathigur Pooraa Dhhan Dhhann Hai Jin Har Oupadhaes Dhae Sabh Srist Savaaree ||
सो सतिगुरु पूरा धनु धंनु है जिनि हरि उपदेसु दे सभ स्रिस्टि सवारी ॥
Blessed, blessed is the Perfect True Guru, who has given the Lord's Teachings to reform the whole world.
ਨਿਤ ਜਪਿਅਹੁ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਭਉਜਲ ਬਿਖੁ ਤਾਰੀ ॥
Nith Japiahu Santhahu Raam Naam Bhoujal Bikh Thaaree ||
नित जपिअहु संतहु राम नामु भउजल बिखु तारी ॥
O Saints, meditate constantly on the Lord's Name, and cross over the terrifying, poisonous world-ocean.
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਉਪਦੇਸਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਵਿਟੜਿਅਹੁ ਹੰਉ ਸਦ ਵਾਰੀ ॥੨॥
Gur Poorai Har Oupadhaesiaa Gur Vittarriahu Hano Sadh Vaaree ||2||
गुरि पूरै हरि उपदेसिआ गुर विटड़िअहु हंउ सद वारी ॥२॥
The Perfect Guru has taught me about the Lord; I am forever a sacrifice to the Guru. ||2||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਸੁਖੀ ਹੂੰ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਰੁ ॥
Sathigur Kee Saevaa Chaakaree Sukhee Hoon Sukh Saar ||
सतिगुर की सेवा चाकरी सुखी हूं सुख सारु ॥
Service to, and obedience to the True Guru, is the essence of comfort and peace.
ਐਥੈ ਮਿਲਨਿ ਵਡਿਆਈਆ ਦਰਗਹ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥
Aithhai Milan Vaddiaaeeaa Dharageh Mokh Dhuaar ||
ऐथै मिलनि वडिआईआ दरगह मोख दुआरु ॥
Doing so, one obtains honor here, and the door of salvation in the Court of the Lord.
ਸਚੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵਣੀ ਸਚੁ ਪੈਨਣੁ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥
Sachee Kaar Kamaavanee Sach Painan Sach Naam Adhhaar ||
सची कार कमावणी सचु पैनणु सचु नामु अधारु ॥
In this way, perform the tasks of Truth, wear Truth, and take the Support of the True Name.
ਸਚੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਚਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਚੈ ਨਾਇ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
Sachee Sangath Sach Milai Sachai Naae Piaar ||
सची संगति सचि मिलै सचै नाइ पिआरु ॥
Associating with Truth, obtain Truth, and love the True Name.
ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਹਰਖੁ ਸਦਾ ਦਰਿ ਸਚੈ ਸਚਿਆਰੁ ॥
Sachai Sabadh Harakh Sadhaa Dhar Sachai Sachiaar ||
सचै सबदि हरखु सदा दरि सचै सचिआरु ॥
Through the True Word of the Shabad, be always happy, and you shall be acclaimed as True in the True Court.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਸੋ ਕਰੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੈ ਕਰਤਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
Naanak Sathigur Kee Saevaa So Karai Jis No Nadhar Karai Karathaar ||1||
नानक सतिगुर की सेवा सो करै जिस नो नदरि करै करतारु ॥१॥
O Nanak, he alone serves the True Guru, whom the Creator has blessed with His Glance of Grace. ||1||

ਹੋਰ ਵਿਡਾਣੀ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਜੀਵਣੁ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਵਾਸੁ ॥
Hor Viddaanee Chaakaree Dhhrig Jeevan Dhhrig Vaas ||
होर विडाणी चाकरी ध्रिगु जीवणु ध्रिगु वासु ॥
Cursed is the life, and cursed is the dwelling, of those who serve another.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਬਿਖੁ ਲਗੇ ਬਿਖੁ ਖਟਣਾ ਬਿਖੁ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
Anmrith Shhodd Bikh Lagae Bikh Khattanaa Bikh Raas ||
अम्रितु छोडि बिखु लगे बिखु खटणा बिखु रासि ॥
Abandoning the Ambrosial Nectar, they turn to poison; they earn poison, and poison is their only wealth.
ਬਿਖੁ ਖਾਣਾ ਬਿਖੁ ਪੈਨਣਾ ਬਿਖੁ ਕੇ ਮੁਖਿ ਗਿਰਾਸ ॥
Bikh Khaanaa Bikh Painanaa Bikh Kae Mukh Giraas ||
बिखु खाणा बिखु पैनणा बिखु के मुखि गिरास ॥
Poison is their food, and poison is their dress; they fill their mouths with morsels of poison.
ਐਥੈ ਦੁਖੋ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਮਾਵਣਾ ਮੁਇਆ ਨਰਕਿ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥
Aithhai Dhukho Dhukh Kamaavanaa Mueiaa Narak Nivaas ||
ऐथै दुखो दुखु कमावणा मुइआ नरकि निवासु ॥
In this world, they earn only pain and suffering, and dying, they go to abide in hell.
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੁਹਿ ਮੈਲੈ ਸਬਦੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਨੀ ਕਾਮ ਕਰੋਧਿ ਵਿਣਾਸੁ ॥
Manamukh Muhi Mailai Sabadh N Jaananee Kaam Karodhh Vinaas ||
मनमुख मुहि मैलै सबदु न जाणनी काम करोधि विणासु ॥
The self-willed manmukhs have filthy faces; they do not know the Word of the Shabad; in sexual desire and anger they waste away.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਭਉ ਛੋਡਿਆ ਮਨਹਠਿ ਕੰਮੁ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
Sathigur Kaa Bho Shhoddiaa Manehath Kanm N Aavai Raas ||
सतिगुर का भउ छोडिआ मनहठि कमु न आवै रासि ॥
They forsake the Fear of the True Guru, and because of their stubborn ego, their efforts do not come to fruition.
ਜਮ ਪੁਰਿ ਬਧੇ ਮਾਰੀਅਹਿ ਕੋ ਨ ਸੁਣੇ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥
Jam Pur Badhhae Maareeahi Ko N Sunae Aradhaas ||
जम पुरि बधे मारीअहि को न सुणे अरदासि ॥
In the City of Death, they are bound and beaten, and no one hears their prayers.
ਨਾਨਕ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਕਮਾਵਣਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥੨॥
Naanak Poorab Likhiaa Kamaavanaa Guramukh Naam Nivaas ||2||
नानक पूरबि लिखिआ कमावणा गुरमुखि नामि निवासु ॥२॥
O Nanak, they act according to their pre-ordained destiny; the Gurmukh abides in the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||2||

ਸੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿਹੁ ਸਾਧ ਜਨੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ॥
So Sathigur Saevihu Saadhh Jan Jin Har Har Naam Dhrirraaeiaa ||
सो सतिगुरु सेविहु साध जनु जिनि हरि हरि नामु द्रिड़ाइआ ॥
Serve the True Guru, O Holy people; He implants the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, in our minds.
ਸੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਜਹੁ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰਾਤਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਜਗੰਨਾਥੁ ਜਗਦੀਸੁ ਜਪਾਇਆ ॥
So Sathigur Poojahu Dhinas Raath Jin Jagannaathh Jagadhees Japaaeiaa ||
सो सतिगुरु पूजहु दिनसु राति जिनि जगंनाथु जगदीसु जपाइआ ॥
Worship the True Guru day and night; He leads us the meditate on the Lord of the Universe, the Master of the Universe.
ਸੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਇਕ ਨਿਮਖ ਨਿਮਖ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਹਰਿ ਪੰਥੁ ਬਤਾਇਆ ॥
So Sathigur Dhaekhahu Eik Nimakh Nimakh Jin Har Kaa Har Panthh Bathaaeiaa ||
सो सतिगुरु देखहु इक निमख निमख जिनि हरि का हरि पंथु बताइआ ॥
Behold the True Guru, each and every moment; He shows us the Divine Path of the Lord.
ਤਿਸੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸਭ ਪਗੀ ਪਵਹੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਮੋਹ ਅੰਧੇਰੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਆ ॥
This Sathigur Kee Sabh Pagee Pavahu Jin Moh Andhhaer Chukaaeiaa ||
तिसु सतिगुर की सभ पगी पवहु जिनि मोह अंधेरु चुकाइआ ॥
Let everyone fall at the feet of the True Guru; He has dispelled the darkness of emotional attachment.
ਸੋ ਸਤਗੁਰੁ ਕਹਹੁ ਸਭਿ ਧੰਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਭੰਡਾਰ ਲਹਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
So Sathagur Kehahu Sabh Dhhann Dhhann Jin Har Bhagath Bhanddaar Lehaaeiaa ||3||
सो सतगुरु कहहु सभि धंनु धंनु जिनि हरि भगति भंडार लहाइआ ॥३॥
Let everyone hail and praise the True Guru, who has led us to find the treasure of the Lord's devotional worship. ||3||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਭੁਖ ਗਈ ਭੇਖੀ ਭੁਖ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
Sathigur Miliai Bhukh Gee Bhaekhee Bhukh N Jaae ||
सतिगुरि मिलिऐ भुख गई भेखी भुख न जाइ ॥
Meeting with the True Guru, hunger departs; by wearing the robes of a beggar, hunger does not depart.
