ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਮਦ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਦੁਸਟ ਬਾਸਨਾ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ ॥
Kaam Krodhh Madh Lobh Moh Dhusatt Baasanaa Nivaar ||
काम क्रोध मद लोभ मोह दुसट बासना निवारि ॥
Take away my sexual desire, anger, pride, greed, emotional attachment and evil desires.
ਰਾਖਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰਿ ॥੧॥

राखि लेहु प्रभ आपणे नानक सद बलिहारि ॥१॥

ਖਾਂਦਿਆ ਖਾਂਦਿਆ ਮੁਹੁ ਘਠਾ ਪੈਨੰਦਿਆ ਸਭੁ ਅੰਗੁ ॥
Khaandhiaa Khaandhiaa Muhu Ghathaa Painandhiaa Sabh Ang ||
खांदिआ खांदिआ मुहु घठा पैनंदिआ सभु अंगु ॥
By eating and eating, the mouth is worn out; by wearing clothes, the limbs grow weary.
ਨਾਨਕ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਤਿਨਾ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਿਆ ਜਿਨ ਸਚਿ ਨ ਲਗੋ ਰੰਗੁ ॥੨॥

नानक ध्रिगु तिना दा जीविआ जिन सचि न लगो रंगु ॥२॥

ਜਿਉ ਜਿਉ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਤਿਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਹੋਵਣਾ ॥
Jio Jio Thaeraa Hukam Thivai Thio Hovanaa ||
जिउ जिउ तेरा हुकमु तिवै तिउ होवणा ॥
As is the Hukam of Your Command, so do things happen.
ਜਹ ਜਹ ਰਖਹਿ ਆਪਿ ਤਹ ਜਾਇ ਖੜੋਵਣਾ ॥
Jeh Jeh Rakhehi Aap Theh Jaae Kharrovanaa ||
जह जह रखहि आपि तह जाइ खड़ोवणा ॥
Wherever You keep me, there I go and stand.
ਨਾਮ ਤੇਰੈ ਕੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਧੋਵਣਾ ॥
Naam Thaerai Kai Rang Dhuramath Dhhovanaa ||
नाम तेरै कै रंगि दुरमति धोवणा ॥
With the Love of Your Name, I wash away my evil-mindedness.
ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਭਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਖੋਵਣਾ ॥
Jap Jap Thudhh Nirankaar Bharam Bho Khovanaa ||
जपि जपि तुधु निरंकार भरमु भउ खोवणा ॥
By continually meditating on You, O Formless Lord, my doubts and fears are dispelled.
ਜੋ ਤੇਰੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੇ ਜੋਨਿ ਨ ਜੋਵਣਾ ॥
Jo Thaerai Rang Rathae Sae Jon N Jovanaa ||
जो तेरै रंगि रते से जोनि न जोवणा ॥
Those who are attuned to Your Love, shall not be trapped in reincarnation.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਇਕੁ ਨੈਣ ਅਲੋਵਣਾ ॥
Anthar Baahar Eik Nain Alovanaa ||
अंतरि बाहरि इकु नैण अलोवणा ॥
Inwardly and outwardly, they behold the One Lord with their eyes.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਪਛਾਤਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਰੋਵਣਾ ॥
Jinhee Pashhaathaa Hukam Thinh Kadhae N Rovanaa ||
जिन्ही पछाता हुकमु तिन्ह कदे न रोवणा ॥
Those who recognize the Lord's Command never weep.
ਨਾਉ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਖਸੀਸ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਪਰੋਵਣਾ ॥੧੮॥
Naao Naanak Bakhasees Man Maahi Parovanaa ||18||
नाउ नानक बखसीस मन माहि परोवणा ॥१८॥
O Nanak, they are blessed with the gift of the Name, woven into the fabric of their minds. ||18||

ਜੀਵਦਿਆ ਨ ਚੇਤਿਓ ਮੁਆ ਰਲੰਦੜੋ ਖਾਕ ॥
Jeevadhiaa N Chaethiou Muaa Ralandharro Khaak ||
जीवदिआ न चेतिओ मुआ रलंदड़ो खाक ॥
Those who do not remember the Lord while they are alive, shall mix with the dust when they die.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਸੰਗਿ ਗੁਦਾਰਿਆ ਸਾਕਤ ਮੂੜ ਨਪਾਕ ॥੧॥
Naanak Dhuneeaa Sang Gudhaariaa Saakath Moorr Napaak ||1||
नानक दुनीआ संगि गुदारिआ साकत मूड़ नपाक ॥१॥
O Nanak, the foolish and filthy faithless cynic passes his life engrossed in the world. ||1||

जीवंदिआ हरि चेतिआ मरंदिआ हरि रंगि ॥
One who remembers the Lord while he is alive, shall be imbued with the Lord's Love when he dies.
ਜਨਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਤਾਰਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ॥੨॥
Janam Padhaarathh Thaariaa Naanak Saadhhoo Sang ||2||
जनमु पदारथु तारिआ नानक साधू संगि ॥२॥
The precious gift of his life is redeemed, O Nanak, in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||2||

From the beginning, and through the ages, You have been our Protector and Preserver.
ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾਰੁ ਸਚੁ ਪਸਾਰਿਆ ॥
Sach Naam Karathaar Sach Pasaariaa ||
सचु नामु करतारु सचु पसारिआ ॥
True is Your Name, O Creator Lord, and True is Your Creation.
ਊਣਾ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਹੋਇ ਘਟੇ ਘਟਿ ਸਾਰਿਆ ॥
Oonaa Kehee N Hoe Ghattae Ghatt Saariaa ||
ऊणा कही न होइ घटे घटि सारिआ ॥
You do not lack anything; You are filling each and every heart.
ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨ ਸਮਰਥ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਘਾਲਿਆ ॥
Miharavaan Samarathh Aapae Hee Ghaaliaa ||
मिहरवान समरथ आपे ही घालिआ ॥
You are merciful and all-powerful; You Yourself cause us to serve You.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਮਨਿ ਵੁਠਾ ਆਪਿ ਸੇ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਾਲਿਆ ॥
Jinh Man Vuthaa Aap Sae Sadhaa Sukhaaliaa ||
जिन्ह मनि वुठा आपि से सदा सुखालिआ ॥
Those whose minds in which You dwell are forever at peace.
ਆਪੇ ਰਚਨੁ ਰਚਾਇ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਪਾਲਿਆ ॥
Aapae Rachan Rachaae Aapae Hee Paaliaa ||
आपे रचनु रचाइ आपे ही पालिआ ॥
Having created the creation, You Yourself cherish it.
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਅਪਾਰਿਆ ॥
Sabh Kishh Aapae Aap Baeanth Apaariaa ||
सभु किछु आपे आपि बेअंत अपारिआ ॥
You Yourself are everything, O infinite, endless Lord.
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੀ ਟੇਕ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੰਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਲਿਆ ॥੧੯॥

गुर पूरे की टेक नानक सम्हालिआ ॥१९॥

ਆਦਿ ਮਧਿ ਅਰੁ ਅੰਤਿ ਪਰਮੇਸਰਿ ਰਖਿਆ ॥
Aadh Madhh Ar Anth Paramaesar Rakhiaa ||
आदि मधि अरु अंति परमेसरि रखिआ ॥
In the beginning, in the middle and in the end, the Transcendent Lord has saved me.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦਿਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਚਖਿਆ ॥
Sathigur Dhithaa Har Naam Anmrith Chakhiaa ||
सतिगुरि दिता हरि नामु अम्रितु चखिआ ॥
The True Guru has blessed me with the Lord's Name, and I have tasted the Ambrosial Nectar.
ਸਾਧਾ ਸੰਗੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਰਵੈ ॥
Saadhhaa Sang Apaar Anadhin Har Gun Ravai ||
साधा संगु अपारु अनदिनु हरि गुण रवै ॥
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, I chant the Glorious Praises of the Lord, night and day.
ਪਾਏ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਸਭਿ ਜੋਨੀ ਨਹ ਭਵੈ ॥
Paaeae Manorathh Sabh Jonee Neh Bhavai ||
पाए मनोरथ सभि जोनी नह भवै ॥
I have obtained all my objectives, and I shall not wander in reincarnation again.
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰਤੇ ਹਥਿ ਕਾਰਣੁ ਜੋ ਕਰੈ ॥
Sabh Kishh Karathae Hathh Kaaran Jo Karai ||
सभु किछु करते हथि कारणु जो करै ॥
Everything is in the Hands of the Creator; He does what is done.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਮੰਗੈ ਦਾਨੁ ਸੰਤਾ ਧੂਰਿ ਤਰੈ ॥੧॥
Naanak Mangai Dhaan Santhaa Dhhoor Tharai ||1||
नानकु मंगै दानु संता धूरि तरै ॥१॥
Nanak begs for the gift of the dust of the feet of the Holy, which shall deliver him. ||1||

ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਇ ਜਿਨਿ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥
This No Mann Vasaae Jin Oupaaeiaa ||
तिस नो मंनि वसाइ जिनि उपाइआ ॥
Enshrine Him in your mind, the One who created you.
ਜਿਨਿ ਜਨਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਖਸਮੁ ਤਿਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
Jin Jan Dhhiaaeiaa Khasam Thin Sukh Paaeiaa ||
जिनि जनि धिआइआ खसमु तिनि सुखु पाइआ ॥
Whoever meditates on the Lord and Master obtains peace.
ਸਫਲੁ ਜਨਮੁ ਪਰਵਾਨੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਇਆ ॥
Safal Janam Paravaan Guramukh Aaeiaa ||
सफलु जनमु परवानु गुरमुखि आइआ ॥
Fruitful is the birth, and approved is the coming of the Gurmukh.
ਹੁਕਮੈ ਬੁਝਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ਖਸਮਿ ਫੁਰਮਾਇਆ ॥
Hukamai Bujh Nihaal Khasam Furamaaeiaa ||
हुकमै बुझि निहालु खसमि फुरमाइआ ॥
One who realizes the Hukam of the Lord's Command shall be blessed - so has the Lord and Master ordained.
ਜਿਸੁ ਹੋਆ ਆਪਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਸੁ ਨਹ ਭਰਮਾਇਆ ॥
Jis Hoaa Aap Kirapaal S Neh Bharamaaeiaa ||
जिसु होआ आपि क्रिपालु सु नह भरमाइआ ॥
One who is blessed with the Lord's Mercy does not wander.
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਦਿਤਾ ਖਸਮਿ ਸੋਈ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
Jo Jo Dhithaa Khasam Soee Sukh Paaeiaa ||
जो जो दिता खसमि सोई सुखु पाइआ ॥
Whatever the Lord and Master gives him, with that he is content.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸਹਿ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਬੁਝਾਏ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਮਿਤ ॥
Naanak Jisehi Dhaeiaal Bujhaaeae Hukam Mith ||
नानक जिसहि दइआलु बुझाए हुकमु मित ॥
O Nanak, one who is blessed with the kindness of the Lord, our Friend, realizes the Hukam of His Command.
ਜਿਸਹਿ ਭੁਲਾਏ ਆਪਿ ਮਰਿ ਮਰਿ ਜਮਹਿ ਨਿਤ ॥੨॥
Jisehi Bhulaaeae Aap Mar Mar Jamehi Nith ||2||
जिसहि भुलाए आपि मरि मरि जमहि नित ॥२॥
But those whom the Lord Himself causes to wander, continue to die, and take reincarnation again. ||2||

निंदक मारे ततकालि खिनु टिकण न दिते ॥
The slanderers are destroyed in an instant; they are not spared for even a moment.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਾਸ ਕਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਨ ਖਵਿ ਸਕਹਿ ਫੜਿ ਜੋਨੀ ਜੁਤੇ ॥
Prabh Dhaas Kaa Dhukh N Khav Sakehi Farr Jonee Juthae ||
प्रभ दास का दुखु न खवि सकहि फड़ि जोनी जुते ॥
God will not endure the sufferings of His slaves, but catching the slanderers, He binds them to the cycle of reincarnation.
