Pavan Paanee Agan Thin Keeaa Brehamaa Bisan Mehaes Akaar ||
पवणु पाणी अगनि तिनि कीआ ब्रहमा बिसनु महेस अकार ॥
He created air, water and fire, Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva - the whole creation.
ਸਰਬੇ ਜਾਚਿਕ ਤੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਦਾਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਅਪੁਨੈ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥੪॥
Sarabae Jaachik Thoon Prabh Dhaathaa Dhaath Karae Apunai Beechaar ||4||
सरबे जाचिक तूं प्रभु दाता दाति करे अपुनै बीचार ॥४॥
All are beggars; You alone are the Great Giver, God. You give Your gifts according to Your own considerations. ||4||
ਕੋਟਿ ਤੇਤੀਸ ਜਾਚਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਾਇਕ ਦੇਦੇ ਤੋਟਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਭੰਡਾਰ ॥
Kott Thaethees Jaachehi Prabh Naaeik Dhaedhae Thott Naahee Bhanddaar ||
कोटि तेतीस जाचहि प्रभ नाइक देदे तोटि नाही भंडार ॥
Three hundred thirty million gods beg of God the Master; even as He gives, His treasures are never exhausted.
ਊਂਧੈ ਭਾਂਡੈ ਕਛੁ ਨ ਸਮਾਵੈ ਸੀਧੈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪਰੈ ਨਿਹਾਰ ॥੫॥
Oonadhhai Bhaanddai Kashh N Samaavai Seedhhai Anmrith Parai Nihaar ||5||
ऊंधै भांडै कछु न समावै सीधै अम्रितु परै निहार ॥५॥
Nothing can be contained in a vessel turned upside-down; Ambrosial Nectar pours into the upright one. ||5||
ਸਿਧ ਸਮਾਧੀ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਜਾਚਹਿ ਰਿਧਿ ਸਿਧਿ ਜਾਚਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਜੈਕਾਰ ॥
Sidhh Samaadhhee Anthar Jaachehi Ridhh Sidhh Jaach Karehi Jaikaar ||
सिध समाधी अंतरि जाचहि रिधि सिधि जाचि करहि जैकार ॥
The Siddhas in Samaadhi beg for wealth and miracles, and proclaim His victory.
ਜੈਸੀ ਪਿਆਸ ਹੋਇ ਮਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਤੈਸੋ ਜਲੁ ਦੇਵਹਿ ਪਰਕਾਰ ॥੬॥
Jaisee Piaas Hoe Man Anthar Thaiso Jal Dhaevehi Parakaar ||6||
जैसी पिआस होइ मन अंतरि तैसो जलु देवहि परकार ॥६॥
As is the thirst within their minds, so is the water which You give to them. ||6||
ਬਡੇ ਭਾਗ ਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਭੇਦੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਮੁਰਾਰ ॥
Baddae Bhaag Gur Saevehi Apunaa Bhaedh Naahee Guradhaev Muraar ||
बडे भाग गुरु सेवहि अपुना भेदु नाही गुरदेव मुरार ॥
The most fortunate ones serve their Guru; there is no difference between the Divine Guru and the Lord.
ਤਾ ਕਉ ਕਾਲੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਮੁ ਜੋਹੈ ਬੂਝਹਿ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥੭॥
Thaa Ko Kaal Naahee Jam Johai Boojhehi Anthar Sabadh Beechaar ||7||
ता कउ कालु नाही जमु जोहै बूझहि अंतरि सबदु बीचार ॥७॥
The Messenger of Death cannot see those who come to realize within their minds the contemplative meditation of the Word of the Shabad. ||7||
ਅਬ ਤਬ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਮਾਗਉ ਹਰਿ ਪਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਦੀਜੈ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥
Ab Thab Avar N Maago Har Pehi Naam Niranjan Dheejai Piaar ||
अब तब अवरु न मागउ हरि पहि नामु निरंजन दीजै पिआरि ॥
I shall never ask anything else of the Lord; please, bless me with the Love of Your Immaculate Name.
ਨਾਨਕ ਚਾਤ੍ਰਿਕੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਜਲੁ ਮਾਗੈ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰਿ ॥੮॥੨॥
Naanak Chaathrik Anmrith Jal Maagai Har Jas Dheejai Kirapaa Dhhaar ||8||2||
नानक चात्रिकु अम्रित जलु मागै हरि जसु दीजै किरपा धारि ॥८॥२॥
Nanak, the song-bird, begs for the Ambrosial Water; O Lord, shower Your Mercy upon him, and bless him with Your Praise. ||8||2||

Ai Jee Janam Marai Aavai Fun Jaavai Bin Gur Gath Nehee Kaaee ||
ऐ जी जनमि मरै आवै फुनि जावै बिनु गुर गति नही काई ॥
O Dear One, he is born, and then dies; he continues coming and going; without the Guru, he is not emancipated.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਨਾਮੇ ਰਾਤੇ ਨਾਮੇ ਗਤਿ ਪਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥

गुरमुखि प्राणी नामे राते नामे गति पति पाई ॥१॥
Those mortals who become Gurmukhs are attuned to the Naam, the Name of the Lord; through the Name, they obtain salvation and honor. ||1||

भाई रे राम नामि चितु लाई ॥

गुर परसादी हरि प्रभ जाचे ऐसी नाम बडाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
By Guru's Grace, one begs of the Lord God; such is the glorious greatness of the Naam. ||1||Pause||
ਐ ਜੀ ਬਹੁਤੇ ਭੇਖ ਕਰਹਿ ਭਿਖਿਆ ਕਉ ਕੇਤੇ ਉਦਰੁ ਭਰਨ ਕੈ ਤਾਈ ॥
Ai Jee Bahuthae Bhaekh Karehi Bhikhiaa Ko Kaethae Oudhar Bharan Kai Thaaee ||
ऐ जी बहुते भेख करहि भिखिआ कउ केते उदरु भरन कै ताई ॥
O Dear One, so many wear various religious robes, for begging and filling their bellies.
ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਗਰਬੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੨॥
Bin Har Bhagath Naahee Sukh Praanee Bin Gur Garab N Jaaee ||2||
बिनु हरि भगति नाही सुखु प्रानी बिनु गुर गरबु न जाई ॥२॥
Without devotional worship to the Lord, O mortal, there can be no peace. Without the Guru, pride does not depart. ||2||
ਐ ਜੀ ਕਾਲੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਰ ਊਪਰਿ ਠਾਢੇ ਜਨਮਿ ਜਨਮਿ ਵੈਰਾਈ ॥
Ai Jee Kaal Sadhaa Sir Oopar Thaadtae Janam Janam Vairaaee ||
ऐ जी कालु सदा सिर ऊपरि ठाढे जनमि जनमि वैराई ॥
O Dear One, death hangs constantly over his head. Incarnation after incarnation, it is his enemy.
ਸਾਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੇ ਬਾਚੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬੂਝ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥੩॥
Saachai Sabadh Rathae Sae Baachae Sathigur Boojh Bujhaaee ||3||
साचै सबदि रते से बाचे सतिगुर बूझ बुझाई ॥३॥
Those who are attuned to the True Word of the Shabad are saved. The True Guru has imparted this understanding. ||3||
ਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਜੋਹਿ ਨ ਸਾਕੈ ਦੂਤੁ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਸੰਤਾਈ ॥
Gur Saranaaee Johi N Saakai Dhooth N Sakai Santhaaee ||
गुर सरणाई जोहि न साकै दूतु न सकै संताई ॥
In the Guru's Sanctuary, the Messenger of Death cannot see the mortal, or torture him.
ਅਵਿਗਤ ਨਾਥ ਨਿਰੰਜਨਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਸਿਉ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥੪॥
Avigath Naathh Niranjan Raathae Nirabho Sio Liv Laaee ||4||
अविगत नाथ निरंजनि राते निरभउ सिउ लिव लाई ॥४॥
I am imbued with the Imperishable and Immaculate Lord Master, and lovingly attached to the Fearless Lord. ||4||
ਐ ਜੀਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਦਿੜਹੁ ਨਾਮੇ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਵਹੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਟੇਕ ਟਿਕਾਈ ॥
Ai Jeeo Naam Dhirrahu Naamae Liv Laavahu Sathigur Ttaek Ttikaaee ||
ऐ जीउ नामु दिड़हु नामे लिव लावहु सतिगुर टेक टिकाई ॥
O Dear One, implant the Naam within me; lovingly attached to the Naam, I lean on the True Guru's Support.
ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਕਰਸੀ ਕਿਰਤੁ ਨ ਮੇਟਿਆ ਜਾਈ ॥੫॥
Jo This Bhaavai Soee Karasee Kirath N Maettiaa Jaaee ||5||
जो तिसु भावै सोई करसी किरतु न मेटिआ जाई ॥५॥
Whatever pleases Him, He does; no one can erase His actions. ||5||
ਐ ਜੀ ਭਾਗਿ ਪਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਿ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰੀ ਮੈ ਅਵਰ ਨ ਦੂਜੀ ਭਾਈ ॥
Ai Jee Bhaag Parae Gur Saran Thumhaaree Mai Avar N Dhoojee Bhaaee ||
ऐ जी भागि परे गुर सरणि तुम्हारी मै अवर न दूजी भाई ॥
O Dear One, I have hurried to the Sanctuary of the Guru; I have no love for any other except You.
ਅਬ ਤਬ ਏਕੋ ਏਕੁ ਪੁਕਾਰਉ ਆਦਿ ਜੁਗਾਦਿ ਸਖਾਈ ॥੬॥
Ab Thab Eaeko Eaek Pukaaro Aadh Jugaadh Sakhaaee ||6||
अब तब एको एकु पुकारउ आदि जुगादि सखाई ॥६॥
I constantly call upon the One Lord; since the very beginning, and throughout the ages, He has been my help and support. ||6||
ਐ ਜੀ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਪੈਜ ਨਾਮ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਕੀ ਤੁਝ ਹੀ ਸਿਉ ਬਨਿ ਆਈ ॥
Ai Jee Raakhahu Paij Naam Apunae Kee Thujh Hee Sio Ban Aaee ||
ऐ जी राखहु पैज नाम अपुने की तुझ ही सिउ बनि आई ॥
O Dear One, please preserve the Honor of Your Name; I am hand and glove with You.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਗੁਰ ਦਰਸੁ ਦਿਖਾਵਹੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਈ ॥੭॥
Kar Kirapaa Gur Dharas Dhikhaavahu Houmai Sabadh Jalaaee ||7||
करि किरपा गुर दरसु दिखावहु हउमै सबदि जलाई ॥७॥
Bless me with Your Mercy, and reveal to me the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan, O Guru. Through the Word of the Shabad, I have burnt away my ego. ||7||
ਐ ਜੀ ਕਿਆ ਮਾਗਉ ਕਿਛੁ ਰਹੈ ਨ ਦੀਸੈ ਇਸੁ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਆਇਆ ਜਾਈ ॥

ऐ जी किआ मागउ किछु रहै न दीसै इसु जग महि आइआ जाई ॥
O Dear One, what should I ask of You? Nothing appears permanent; whoever comes into this world shall depart.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਕੰਠਿ ਬਣਾਈ ॥੮॥੩॥

ऐ जी ना हम उतम नीच न मधिम हरि सरणागति हरि के लोग ॥
O Dear One, I am not high or low or in the middle. I am the Lord's slave, and I seek the Lord's Sanctuary.
ਨਾਮ ਰਤੇ ਕੇਵਲ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਸੋਗ ਬਿਜੋਗ ਬਿਸਰਜਿਤ ਰੋਗ ॥੧॥
Naam Rathae Kaeval Bairaagee Sog Bijog Bisarajith Rog ||1||
नाम रते केवल बैरागी सोग बिजोग बिसरजित रोग ॥१॥
Imbued with the Naam, the Name of the Lord, I am detached from the world; I have forgotten sorrow, separation and disease. ||1||
