सबदै सादु न आइओ नामि न लगो पिआरु ॥
One who does not savor the taste of the Shabad, who does not love the Naam, the Name of the Lord,
ਰਸਨਾ ਫਿਕਾ ਬੋਲਣਾ ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਹੋਇ ਖੁਆਰੁ ॥
Rasanaa Fikaa Bolanaa Nith Nith Hoe Khuaar ||
रसना फिका बोलणा नित नित होइ खुआरु ॥
And who speaks insipid words with his tongue, is ruined, again and again.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਿਰਤਿ ਪਇਐ ਕਮਾਵਣਾ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਮੇਟਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੨॥

Blessed, blessed is the Lord's devotee, my True Guru; serving Him, I have come to enshrine love for the Name of the Lord.

Ghar Hee Mundhh Vidhaes Pir Nith Jhoorae Sanmhaalae ||
घर ही मुंधि विदेसि पिरु नित झूरे सम्हाले ॥
The soul-bride is at home, while the Husband Lord is away; she cherishes His memory, and mourns His absence.
ਮਿਲਦਿਆ ਢਿਲ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਜੇ ਨੀਅਤਿ ਰਾਸਿ ਕਰੇ ॥੧॥
Miladhiaa Dtil N Hovee Jae Neeath Raas Karae ||1||
मिलदिआ ढिल न होवई जे नीअति रासि करे ॥१॥
She shall meet Him without delay, if she rids herself of duality. ||1||

नानक गाली कूड़ीआ बाझु परीति करेइ ॥
O Nanak, false is the speech of one who acts without loving the Lord.
ਤਿਚਰੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਭਲਾ ਕਰਿ ਜਿਚਰੁ ਲੇਵੈ ਦੇਇ ॥੨॥
Thichar Jaanai Bhalaa Kar Jichar Laevai Dhaee ||2||
तिचरु जाणै भला करि जिचरु लेवै देइ ॥२॥
He judges things to be good, only as long as the Lord gives and he receives. ||2||

जिनि उपाए जीअ तिनि हरि राखिआ ॥
The Lord, who created the creatures, also protects them.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸਚਾ ਨਾਉ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਚਾਖਿਆ ॥
Anmrith Sachaa Naao Bhojan Chaakhiaa ||
अम्रितु सचा नाउ भोजनु चाखिआ ॥
I have tasted the food of Ambrosial Nectar, the True Name.
ਤਿਪਤਿ ਰਹੇ ਆਘਾਇ ਮਿਟੀ ਭਭਾਖਿਆ ॥

तिपति रहे आघाइ मिटी भभाखिआ ॥
I am satisfied and satiated, and my hunger is appeased.
ਸਭ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਇਕੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਕਿਨੈ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਲਾਖਿਆ ॥
Sabh Andhar Eik Varathai Kinai Viralai Laakhiaa ||
सभ अंदरि इकु वरतै किनै विरलै लाखिआ ॥
The One Lord is pervading in all, but rare are those who realize this.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਏ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਪਾਖਿਆ ॥੨੦॥

Sathigur No Sabh Ko Vaekhadhaa Jaethaa Jagath Sansaar ||
सतिगुर नो सभु को वेखदा जेता जगतु संसारु ॥
All the living beings of the world behold the True Guru.
ਡਿਠੈ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਜਿਚਰੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਨ ਕਰੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
Ddithai Mukath N Hovee Jichar Sabadh N Karae Veechaar ||
डिठै मुकति न होवई जिचरु सबदि न करे वीचारु ॥
One is not liberated by merely seeing Him, unless one contemplates the Word of His Shabad.
ਹਉਮੈ ਮੈਲੁ ਨ ਚੁਕਈ ਨਾਮਿ ਨ ਲਗੈ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
Houmai Mail N Chukee Naam N Lagai Piaar ||
हउमै मैलु न चुकई नामि न लगै पिआरु ॥
The filth of ego is not removed, and he does not enshrine love for the Naam.
ਇਕਿ ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਅਨੁ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਤਜਿ ਵਿਕਾਰ ॥
Eik Aapae Bakhas Milaaeian Dhubidhhaa Thaj Vikaar ||
इकि आपे बखसि मिलाइअनु दुबिधा तजि विकार ॥
The Lord forgives some, and unites them with Himself; they forsake their duality and sinful ways.
ਨਾਨਕ ਇਕਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਮਰਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹੇਤਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥੧॥
Naanak Eik Dharasan Dhaekh Mar Milae Sathigur Haeth Piaar ||1||
नानक इकि दरसनु देखि मरि मिले सतिगुर हेति पिआरि ॥१॥
O Nanak, some behold the Blessed Vision of the True Guru's Darshan, with love and affection; conquering their ego, they meet with the Lord. ||1||

सतिगुरू न सेविओ मूरख अंध गवारि ॥
The foolish, blind clown does not serve the True Guru.
ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਾਗਾ ਜਲਤਾ ਕਰੇ ਪੁਕਾਰ ॥
Dhoojai Bhaae Bahuth Dhukh Laagaa Jalathaa Karae Pukaar ||
दूजै भाइ बहुतु दुखु लागा जलता करे पुकार ॥
In love with duality, he endures terrible suffering, and burning, he cries out in pain.
ਜਿਨ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ਸੇ ਨ ਉਪਕਰੇ ਅੰਤੀ ਵਾਰ ॥
Jin Kaaran Guroo Visaariaa Sae N Oupakarae Anthee Vaar ||
जिन कारणि गुरू विसारिआ से न उपकरे अंती वार ॥
He forgets the Guru, for the sake of mere objects, but they will not come to his rescue in the end.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਬਖਸੇ ਬਖਸਣਹਾਰ ॥੨॥
Naanak Guramathee Sukh Paaeiaa Bakhasae Bakhasanehaar ||2||
नानक गुरमती सुखु पाइआ बखसे बखसणहार ॥२॥
Through the Guru's Instructions, Nanak has found peace; the Forgiving Lord has forgiven him. ||2||

तू आपे आपि आपि सभु करता कोई दूजा होइ सु अवरो कहीऐ ॥
You Yourself, all by Yourself, are the Creator of all. If there were any other, then I would speak of another.
ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਬੋਲੈ ਆਪਿ ਬੁਲਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਰਵਿ ਰਹੀਐ ॥
Har Aapae Bolai Aap Bulaavai Har Aapae Jal Thhal Rav Reheeai ||
हरि आपे बोलै आपि बुलावै हरि आपे जलि थलि रवि रहीऐ ॥
The Lord Himself speaks, and causes us to speak; He Himself is pervading the water and the land.
ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਮਾਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਛੋਡੈ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਣੀ ਪੜਿ ਰਹੀਐ ॥
Har Aapae Maarai Har Aapae Shhoddai Man Har Saranee Parr Reheeai ||
हरि आपे मारै हरि आपे छोडै मन हरि सरणी पड़ि रहीऐ ॥
The Lord Himself destroys, and the Lord Himself saves. O mind, seek and remain in the Lord's Sanctuary.
ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਕੋਈ ਮਾਰਿ ਜੀਵਾਲਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਮਨ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਚਿੰਦ ਨਿਸਲੁ ਹੋਇ ਰਹੀਐ ॥
Har Bin Koee Maar Jeevaal N Sakai Man Hoe Nichindh Nisal Hoe Reheeai ||
हरि बिनु कोई मारि जीवालि न सकै मन होइ निचिंद निसलु होइ रहीऐ ॥
Other than the Lord, no one can kill or rejuvenate. O mind, do not be anxious - remain fearless.
