घटि वसहि चरणारबिंद रसना जपै गुपाल ॥
Let the Lotus Feet of the Lord abide within your heart, and with your tongue, chant God's Name.

Aapae Athasath Theerathh Karathaa Aap Karae Eisanaan ||
आपे अठसठि तीरथ करता आपि करे इसनानु ॥
The Creator Himself is the sixty-eight sacred places of pilgrimage; He Himself takes the cleansing bath in them.
ਆਪੇ ਸੰਜਮਿ ਵਰਤੈ ਸ੍ਵਾਮੀ ਆਪਿ ਜਪਾਇਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
Aapae Sanjam Varathai Svaamee Aap Japaaeihi Naam ||
आपे संजमि वरतै स्वामी आपि जपाइहि नामु ॥
He Himself practices austere self-discipline; the Lord Master Himself causes us to chant His Name.
ਆਪਿ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹੋਇ ਭਉ ਖੰਡਨੁ ਆਪਿ ਕਰੈ ਸਭੁ ਦਾਨੁ ॥
Aap Dhaeiaal Hoe Bho Khanddan Aap Karai Sabh Dhaan ||
आपि दइआलु होइ भउ खंडनु आपि करै सभु दानु ॥
He Himself becomes merciful to us; the Destroyer of fear Himself gives in charity to all.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਪਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ਸੋ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਦਰਗਹਿ ਪਾਏ ਮਾਨੁ ॥
Jis No Guramukh Aap Bujhaaeae So Sadh Hee Dharagehi Paaeae Maan ||
जिस नो गुरमुखि आपि बुझाए सो सद ही दरगहि पाए मानु ॥
One whom He has enlightened and made Gurmukh, ever obtains honor in His Court.
ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਪੈਜ ਰਖੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸੋ ਸਚਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਨੁ ॥੧੪॥
Jis Dhee Paij Rakhai Har Suaamee So Sachaa Har Jaan ||14||
जिस दी पैज रखै हरि सुआमी सो सचा हरि जानु ॥१४॥
One whose honor the Lord Master has preserved, comes to know the True Lord. ||14||

ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭੇਟੇ ਜਗੁ ਅੰਧੁ ਹੈ ਅੰਧੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
Naanak Bin Sathigur Bhaettae Jag Andhh Hai Andhhae Karam Kamaae ||
नानक बिनु सतिगुर भेटे जगु अंधु है अंधे करम कमाइ ॥
O Nanak, without meeting the True Guru, the world is blind, and it does blind deeds.
ਸਬਦੈ ਸਿਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਨ ਲਾਵਈ ਜਿਤੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥
Sabadhai Sio Chith N Laavee Jith Sukh Vasai Man Aae ||
सबदै सिउ चितु न लावई जितु सुखु वसै मनि आइ ॥
It does not focus its consciousness on the Word of the Shabad, which would bring peace to abide in the mind.
ਤਾਮਸਿ ਲਗਾ ਸਦਾ ਫਿਰੈ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਜਲਤੁ ਬਿਹਾਇ ॥
Thaamas Lagaa Sadhaa Firai Ahinis Jalath Bihaae ||
तामसि लगा सदा फिरै अहिनिसि जलतु बिहाइ ॥
Always afflicted with the dark passions of low energy, it wanders around, passing its days and nights burning.
ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਥੀਐ ਕਹਣਾ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥
Jo This Bhaavai So Thheeai Kehanaa Kishhoo N Jaae ||1||
जो तिसु भावै सो थीऐ कहणा किछू न जाइ ॥१॥
Whatever pleases Him, comes to pass; no one has any say in this. ||1||

Third Mehl:
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਫੁਰਮਾਇਆ ਕਾਰੀ ਏਹ ਕਰੇਹੁ ॥
Sathiguroo Furamaaeiaa Kaaree Eaeh Karaehu ||
सतिगुरू फुरमाइआ कारी एह करेहु ॥
The True Guru has commanded us to do this:
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੁਆਰੈ ਹੋਇ ਕੈ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸੰਮਾਲੇਹੁ ॥
Guroo Dhuaarai Hoe Kai Saahib Sanmaalaehu ||
गुरू दुआरै होइ कै साहिबु समालेहु ॥
Through the Guru's Gate, meditate on the Lord Master.
ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਦਾ ਹਜੂਰਿ ਹੈ ਭਰਮੈ ਕੇ ਛਉੜ ਕਟਿ ਕੈ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਧਰੇਹੁ ॥
Saahib Sadhaa Hajoor Hai Bharamai Kae Shhourr Katt Kai Anthar Joth Dhharaehu ||
साहिबु सदा हजूरि है भरमै के छउड़ कटि कै अंतरि जोति धरेहु ॥
The Lord Master is ever-present. He tears away the veil of doubt, and installs His Light within the mind.
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹੈ ਦਾਰੂ ਏਹੁ ਲਾਏਹੁ ॥
Har Kaa Naam Anmrith Hai Dhaaroo Eaehu Laaeaehu ||
हरि का नामु अम्रितु है दारू एहु लाएहु ॥
The Name of the Lord is Ambrosial Nectar - take this healing medicine!
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਚਿਤਿ ਰਖਹੁ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਸਚਾ ਨੇਹੁ ॥
Sathigur Kaa Bhaanaa Chith Rakhahu Sanjam Sachaa Naehu ||
सतिगुर का भाणा चिति रखहु संजमु सचा नेहु ॥
Enshrine the Will of the True Guru in your consciousness, and make the True Lord's Love your self-discipline.
ਨਾਨਕ ਐਥੈ ਸੁਖੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਰਖਸੀ ਅਗੈ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਕੇਲ ਕਰੇਹੁ ॥੨॥
Naanak Aithhai Sukhai Andhar Rakhasee Agai Har Sio Kael Karaehu ||2||
नानक ऐथै सुखै अंदरि रखसी अगै हरि सिउ केल करेहु ॥२॥
O Nanak, you shall be kept in peace here, and hereafter, you shall celebrate with the Lord. ||2||

आपे भार अठारह बणसपति आपे ही फल लाए ॥
He Himself is the vast variety of Nature, and He Himself makes it bear fruit.
ਆਪੇ ਮਾਲੀ ਆਪਿ ਸਭੁ ਸਿੰਚੈ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਮੁਹਿ ਪਾਏ ॥
Aapae Maalee Aap Sabh Sinchai Aapae Hee Muhi Paaeae ||
आपे माली आपि सभु सिंचै आपे ही मुहि पाए ॥
He Himself is the Gardener, He Himself irrigates all the plants, and He Himself puts them in His mouth.
ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪੇ ਭੁਗਤਾ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਇ ਦਿਵਾਏ ॥
Aapae Karathaa Aapae Bhugathaa Aapae Dhaee Dhivaaeae ||
आपे करता आपे भुगता आपे देइ दिवाए ॥
He Himself is the Creator, and He Himself is the Enjoyer; He Himself gives, and causes others to give.
ਆਪੇ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਆਪੇ ਹੈ ਰਾਖਾ ਆਪੇ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਏ ॥
Aapae Saahib Aapae Hai Raakhaa Aapae Rehiaa Samaaeae ||
आपे साहिबु आपे है राखा आपे रहिआ समाए ॥
He Himself is the Lord and Master, and He Himself is the Protector; He Himself is permeating and pervading everywhere.
ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਆਖੈ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਤੇ ਕੀ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤਿਲੁ ਨ ਤਮਾਏ ॥੧੫॥
Jan Naanak Vaddiaaee Aakhai Har Karathae Kee Jis No Thil N Thamaaeae ||15||
जनु नानक वडिआई आखै हरि करते की जिस नो तिलु न तमाए ॥१५॥
Servant Nanak speaks of the greatness of the Lord, the Creator, who has no greed at all. ||15||

Shalok, Third Mehl:
ਮਾਣਸੁ ਭਰਿਆ ਆਣਿਆ ਮਾਣਸੁ ਭਰਿਆ ਆਇ ॥
Maanas Bhariaa Aaniaa Maanas Bhariaa Aae ||
माणसु भरिआ आणिआ माणसु भरिआ आइ ॥
One person brings a full bottle, and another fills his cup.
ਜਿਤੁ ਪੀਤੈ ਮਤਿ ਦੂਰਿ ਹੋਇ ਬਰਲੁ ਪਵੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਆਇ ॥
Jith Peethai Math Dhoor Hoe Baral Pavai Vich Aae ||
जितु पीतै मति दूरि होइ बरलु पवै विचि आइ ॥
Drinking the wine, his intelligence departs, and madness enters his mind;
ਆਪਣਾ ਪਰਾਇਆ ਨ ਪਛਾਣਈ ਖਸਮਹੁ ਧਕੇ ਖਾਇ ॥
Aapanaa Paraaeiaa N Pashhaanee Khasamahu Dhhakae Khaae ||
आपणा पराइआ न पछाणई खसमहु धके खाइ ॥
He cannot distinguish between his own and others, and he is struck down by his Lord and Master.
ਜਿਤੁ ਪੀਤੈ ਖਸਮੁ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਦਰਗਹ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਜਾਇ ॥
Jith Peethai Khasam Visarai Dharageh Milai Sajaae ||
जितु पीतै खसमु विसरै दरगह मिलै सजाइ ॥
Drinking it, he forgets his Lord and Master, and he is punished in the Court of the Lord.
ਝੂਠਾ ਮਦੁ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਪੀਚਈ ਜੇ ਕਾ ਪਾਰਿ ਵਸਾਇ ॥
Jhoothaa Madh Mool N Peechee Jae Kaa Paar Vasaae ||
झूठा मदु मूलि न पीचई जे का पारि वसाइ ॥
Do not drink the false wine at all, if it is in your power.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਦਰੀ ਸਚੁ ਮਦੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਇ ॥
Naanak Nadharee Sach Madh Paaeeai Sathigur Milai Jis Aae ||
नानक नदरी सचु मदु पाईऐ सतिगुरु मिलै जिसु आइ ॥
O Nanak, the True Guru comes and meets the mortal; by His Grace, one obtains the True Wine.
ਸਦਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਹੈ ਮਹਲੀ ਪਾਵੈ ਥਾਉ ॥੧॥
Sadhaa Saahib Kai Rang Rehai Mehalee Paavai Thhaao ||1||
सदा साहिब कै रंगि रहै महली पावै थाउ ॥१॥
He shall dwell forever in the Love of the Lord Master, and obtain a seat in the Mansion of His Presence. ||1||

ਇਹੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਜੀਵਤੁ ਮਰੈ ਜਾ ਇਸ ਨੋ ਸੋਝੀ ਹੋਇ ॥
Eihu Jagath Jeevath Marai Jaa Eis No Sojhee Hoe ||
इहु जगतु जीवतु मरै जा इस नो सोझी होइ ॥
When this world comes to understand, it remains dead while yet alive.
ਜਾ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਸਵਾਲਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਸਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਜਗਾਏ ਤਾਂ ਸੁਧਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
Jaa Thinih Savaaliaa Thaan Sav Rehiaa Jagaaeae Thaan Sudhh Hoe ||
जा तिन्हि सवालिआ तां सवि रहिआ जगाए तां सुधि होइ ॥
When the Lord puts him to sleep, he remains asleep; when He wakes him up, he regains consciousness.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਜੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲੈ ਸੋਇ ॥
Naanak Nadhar Karae Jae Aapanee Sathigur Maelai Soe ||
नानक नदरि करे जे आपणी सतिगुरु मेलै सोइ ॥
O Nanak, when the Lord casts His Glance of Grace, He causes him to meet the True Guru.
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਜੀਵਤੁ ਮਰੈ ਤਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਮਰਣੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
Gur Prasaadh Jeevath Marai Thaa Fir Maran N Hoe ||2||
गुर प्रसादि जीवतु मरै ता फिरि मरणु न होइ ॥२॥
By Guru's Grace, remain dead while yet alive, and you shall not have to die again. ||2||

जिस दा कीता सभु किछु होवै तिस नो परवाह नाही किसै केरी ॥
By His doing, everything happens; what does He care for anyone else?
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਿਤਾ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਖਾਵੈ ਸਭ ਮੁਹਤਾਜੀ ਕਢੈ ਤੇਰੀ ॥
Har Jeeo Thaeraa Dhithaa Sabh Ko Khaavai Sabh Muhathaajee Kadtai Thaeree ||
हरि जीउ तेरा दिता सभु को खावै सभ मुहताजी कढै तेरी ॥
O Dear Lord, everyone eats whatever You give - all are subservient to You.
ਜਿ ਤੁਧ ਨੋ ਸਾਲਾਹੇ ਸੁ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਕੇਰੀ ॥
J Thudhh No Saalaahae S Sabh Kishh Paavai Jis No Kirapaa Niranjan Kaeree ||
जि तुध नो सालाहे सु सभु किछु पावै जिस नो किरपा निरंजन केरी ॥
One who praises You obtains everything; You bestow Your Mercy upon him, O Immaculate Lord.
