ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਜਾਣੁ ਬੁਝਿ ਵੀਚਾਰਦਾ ॥
Sabh Kishh Jaanai Jaan Bujh Veechaaradhaa ||
सभु किछु जाणै जाणु बुझि वीचारदा ॥
The Knower knows everything; He understands and contemplates.
ਅਨਿਕ ਰੂਪ ਖਿਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਧਾਰਦਾ ॥
Anik Roop Khin Maahi Kudharath Dhhaaradhaa ||
अनिक रूप खिन माहि कुदरति धारदा ॥
By His creative power, He assumes numerous forms in an instant.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਲਾਇ ਸਚਿ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਉਧਾਰਦਾ ॥
Jis No Laae Sach Thisehi Oudhhaaradhaa ||
जिस नो लाइ सचि तिसहि उधारदा ॥
One whom the Lord attaches to the Truth is redeemed.
ਜਿਸ ਦੈ ਹੋਵੈ ਵਲਿ ਸੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਹਾਰਦਾ ॥
Jis Dhai Hovai Val S Kadhae N Haaradhaa ||
जिस दै होवै वलि सु कदे न हारदा ॥
One who has God on his side is never conquered.
ਸਦਾ ਅਭਗੁ ਦੀਬਾਣੁ ਹੈ ਹਉ ਤਿਸੁ ਨਮਸਕਾਰਦਾ ॥੪॥
Sadhaa Abhag Dheebaan Hai Ho This Namasakaaradhaa ||4||
सदा अभगु दीबाणु है हउ तिसु नमसकारदा ॥४॥
His Court is eternal and imperishable; I humbly bow to Him. ||4||

Shalok, Fifth Mehl:
ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਲੋਭੁ ਛੋਡੀਐ ਦੀਜੈ ਅਗਨਿ ਜਲਾਇ ॥
Kaam Krodhh Lobh Shhoddeeai Dheejai Agan Jalaae ||
कामु क्रोधु लोभु छोडीऐ दीजै अगनि जलाइ ॥
Renounce sexual desire, anger and greed, and burn them in the fire.
ਜੀਵਦਿਆ ਨਿਤ ਜਾਪੀਐ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾਉ ॥੧॥
Jeevadhiaa Nith Jaapeeai Naanak Saachaa Naao ||1||
जीवदिआ नित जापीऐ नानक साचा नाउ ॥१॥
As long as you are alive, O Nanak, meditate continually on the True Name. ||1||

ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਭ ਫਲ ਪਾਏ ਆਹਿ ॥
Simarath Simarath Prabh Aapanaa Sabh Fal Paaeae Aahi ||
सिमरत सिमरत प्रभु आपणा सभ फल पाए आहि ॥
Meditating, meditating in remembrance on my God, I have obtained all the fruits.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਰਾਧਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੈ ਦੀਆ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੨॥
Naanak Naam Araadhhiaa Gur Poorai Dheeaa Milaae ||2||
नानक नामु अराधिआ गुर पूरै दीआ मिलाइ ॥२॥
O Nanak, I worship the Naam, the Name of the Lord; the Perfect Guru has united me with the Lord. ||2||

ਸੋ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ਜਿ ਗੁਰਿ ਉਪਦੇਸਿਆ ॥

सो मुकता संसारि जि गुरि उपदेसिआ ॥
One who has been instructed by the Guru is liberated in this world.
ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਗਈ ਬਲਾਇ ਮਿਟੇ ਅੰਦੇਸਿਆ ॥
This Kee Gee Balaae Mittae Andhaesiaa ||
तिस की गई बलाइ मिटे अंदेसिआ ॥
He avoids disaster, and his anxiety is dispelled.
ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਜਗਤੁ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
This Kaa Dharasan Dhaekh Jagath Nihaal Hoe ||
तिस का दरसनु देखि जगतु निहालु होइ ॥
Beholding the blessed vision of his Darshan, the world is over-joyed.
ਜਨ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ਪਾਪਾ ਮੈਲੁ ਧੋਇ ॥
Jan Kai Sang Nihaal Paapaa Mail Dhhoe ||
जन कै संगि निहालु पापा मैलु धोइ ॥
In the company of the Lord's humble servants, the world is over-joyed, and the filth of sin is washed away.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾਉ ਓਥੈ ਜਾਪੀਐ ॥
Anmrith Saachaa Naao Outhhai Jaapeeai ||
अम्रितु साचा नाउ ओथै जापीऐ ॥
There, they meditate on the Ambrosial Nectar of the True Name.
ਮਨ ਕਉ ਹੋਇ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਭੁਖਾ ਧ੍ਰਾਪੀਐ ॥
Man Ko Hoe Santhokh Bhukhaa Dhhraapeeai ||
मन कउ होइ संतोखु भुखा ध्रापीऐ ॥
The mind becomes content, and its hunger is satisfied.
ਜਿਸੁ ਘਟਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਨਾਉ ਤਿਸੁ ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟੀਐ ॥
Jis Ghatt Vasiaa Naao This Bandhhan Kaatteeai ||
जिसु घटि वसिआ नाउ तिसु बंधन काटीऐ ॥
One whose heart is filled with the Name, has his bonds cut away.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਖਾਟੀਐ ॥੫॥
Gur Parasaadh Kinai Viralai Har Dhhan Khaatteeai ||5||
गुर परसादि किनै विरलै हरि धनु खाटीऐ ॥५॥
By Guru's Grace, some rare person earns the wealth of the Lord's Name. ||5||

ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਚਿਤਵਉ ਚਿਤਵਨੀ ਉਦਮੁ ਕਰਉ ਉਠਿ ਨੀਤ ॥
Man Mehi Chithavo Chithavanee Oudham Karo Outh Neeth ||
मन महि चितवउ चितवनी उदमु करउ उठि नीत ॥
Within my mind, I think thoughts of always rising early, and making the effort.
ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਕਾ ਆਹਰੋ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ ਮੀਤ ॥੧॥
Har Keerathan Kaa Aaharo Har Dhaehu Naanak Kae Meeth ||1||
हरि कीरतन का आहरो हरि देहु नानक के मीत ॥१॥
O Lord, my Friend, please bless Nanak with the habit of singing the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises. ||1||

ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਧਾਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਰਤਾ ਮੂਲਿ ॥
Dhrisatt Dhhaar Prabh Raakhiaa Man Than Rathaa Mool ||
द्रिसटि धारि प्रभि राखिआ मनु तनु रता मूलि ॥
Casting His Glance of Grace, God has saved me; my mind and body are imbued with the Primal Being.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਣੀਆ ਮਰਉ ਵਿਚਾਰੀ ਸੂਲਿ ॥੨॥
Naanak Jo Prabh Bhaaneeaa Maro Vichaaree Sool ||2||
नानक जो प्रभ भाणीआ मरउ विचारी सूलि ॥२॥
O Nanak, those who are pleasing to God, have their cries of suffering taken away. ||2||

जीअ की बिरथा होइ सु गुर पहि अरदासि करि ॥
When your soul is feeling sad, offer your prayers to the Guru.
ਛੋਡਿ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਸਗਲ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਅਰਪਿ ਧਰਿ ॥
Shhodd Siaanap Sagal Man Than Arap Dhhar ||
छोडि सिआणप सगल मनु तनु अरपि धरि ॥
Renounce all your cleverness, and dedicate your mind and body to Him.
ਪੂਜਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਪੈਰ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਜਾਇ ਜਰਿ ॥
Poojahu Gur Kae Pair Dhuramath Jaae Jar ||
पूजहु गुर के पैर दुरमति जाइ जरि ॥
Worship the Feet of the Guru, and your evil-mindedness shall be burnt away.
ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਬਿਖਮੁ ਤਰਿ ॥
Saadhh Janaa Kai Sang Bhavajal Bikham Thar ||
साध जना कै संगि भवजलु बिखमु तरि ॥
Joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, you shall cross over the terrifying and difficult world-ocean.
ਸੇਵਹੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਦੇਵ ਅਗੈ ਨ ਮਰਹੁ ਡਰਿ ॥
Saevahu Sathigur Dhaev Agai N Marahu Ddar ||
सेवहु सतिगुर देव अगै न मरहु डरि ॥
Serve the True Guru, and in the world hereafter, you shall not die of fear.
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਕਰੇ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ਊਣੇ ਸੁਭਰ ਭਰਿ ॥
Khin Mehi Karae Nihaal Oonae Subhar Bhar ||
खिन महि करे निहालु ऊणे सुभर भरि ॥
In an instant, he shall make you happy, and the empty vessel shall be filled to overflowing.
ਮਨ ਕਉ ਹੋਇ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ॥
Man Ko Hoe Santhokh Dhhiaaeeai Sadhaa Har ||
मन कउ होइ संतोखु धिआईऐ सदा हरि ॥
The mind becomes content, meditating forever on the Lord.
ਸੋ ਲਗਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਕਰਮੁ ਧੁਰਿ ॥੬॥
So Lagaa Sathigur Saev Jaa Ko Karam Dhhur ||6||
सो लगा सतिगुर सेव जा कउ करमु धुरि ॥६॥
He alone dedicates himself to the Guru's service, unto whom the Lord has granted His Grace. ||6||

ਲਗੜੀ ਸੁਥਾਨਿ ਜੋੜਣਹਾਰੈ ਜੋੜੀਆ ॥
Lagarree Suthhaan Jorranehaarai Jorreeaa ||
लगड़ी सुथानि जोड़णहारै जोड़ीआ ॥
I am attached to the right place; the Uniter has united me.
ਨਾਨਕ ਲਹਰੀ ਲਖ ਸੈ ਆਨ ਡੁਬਣ ਦੇਇ ਨ ਮਾ ਪਿਰੀ ॥੧॥
Naanak Leharee Lakh Sai Aan Dduban Dhaee N Maa Piree ||1||
नानक लहरी लख सै आन डुबण देइ न मा पिरी ॥१॥
O Nanak, there are hundreds and thousands of waves, but my Husband Lord does not let me drown. ||1||

ਬਨਿ ਭੀਹਾਵਲੈ ਹਿਕੁ ਸਾਥੀ ਲਧਮੁ ਦੁਖ ਹਰਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ॥
Ban Bheehaavalai Hik Saathhee Ladhham Dhukh Harathaa Har Naamaa ||
बनि भीहावलै हिकु साथी लधमु दुख हरता हरि नामा ॥
In the dreadful wilderness, I have found the one and only companion; the Name of the Lord is the Destroyer of distress.
ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ਸੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਮਾਂ ॥੨॥
Bal Bal Jaaee Santh Piaarae Naanak Pooran Kaamaan ||2||
बलि बलि जाई संत पिआरे नानक पूरन कामां ॥२॥
I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice to the Beloved Saints, O Nanak; through them, my affairs have been brought to fulfillment. ||2||

पाईअनि सभि निधान तेरै रंगि रतिआ ॥
All treasures are obtained, when we are attuned to Your Love.
ਨ ਹੋਵੀ ਪਛੋਤਾਉ ਤੁਧ ਨੋ ਜਪਤਿਆ ॥
N Hovee Pashhothaao Thudhh No Japathiaa ||
न होवी पछोताउ तुध नो जपतिआ ॥
One does not have to suffer regret and repentance, when he meditates on You.
ਪਹੁਚਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਕੋਇ ਤੇਰੀ ਟੇਕ ਜਨ ॥
Pahuch N Sakai Koe Thaeree Ttaek Jan ||
पहुचि न सकै कोइ तेरी टेक जन ॥
No one can equal Your humble servant, who has Your Support.
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਸੁਖ ਲਹਾ ਚਿਤਾਰਿ ਮਨ ॥
Gur Poorae Vaahu Vaahu Sukh Lehaa Chithaar Man ||
गुर पूरे वाहु वाहु सुख लहा चितारि मन ॥
Waaho! Waaho! How wonderful is the Perfect Guru! Cherishing Him in my mind, I obtain peace.
ਗੁਰ ਪਹਿ ਸਿਫਤਿ ਭੰਡਾਰੁ ਕਰਮੀ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
Gur Pehi Sifath Bhanddaar Karamee Paaeeai ||
गुर पहि सिफति भंडारु करमी पाईऐ ॥
The treasure of the Lord's Praise comes from the Guru; by His Mercy, it is obtained.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਧਾਈਐ ॥
Sathigur Nadhar Nihaal Bahurr N Dhhaaeeai ||
सतिगुर नदरि निहाल बहुड़ि न धाईऐ ॥
When the True Guru bestows His Glance of Grace, one does not wander any more.
ਰਖੈ ਆਪਿ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਕਰਿ ਦਾਸਾ ਆਪਣੇ ॥
Rakhai Aap Dhaeiaal Kar Dhaasaa Aapanae ||
रखै आपि दइआलु करि दासा आपणे ॥
The Merciful Lord preserves him - He makes him His own slave.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜੀਵਾ ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣੇ ॥੭॥
Har Har Har Har Naam Jeevaa Sun Sunae ||7||
हरि हरि हरि हरि नामु जीवा सुणि सुणे ॥७॥
