माइआ मोहु गुबारु है गुर बिनु गिआनु न होई ॥
Emotional attachment to Maya is darkness; without the Guru, there is no wisdom.
ਸਬਦਿ ਲਗੇ ਤਿਨ ਬੁਝਿਆ ਦੂਜੈ ਪਰਜ ਵਿਗੋਈ ॥੧॥
Sabadh Lagae Thin Bujhiaa Dhoojai Paraj Vigoee ||1||
सबदि लगे तिन बुझिआ दूजै परज विगोई ॥१॥
Those who are attached to the Word of the Shabad understand; duality has ruined the people. ||1||

मन मेरे गुरमति करणी सारु ॥
O my mind, under Guru's Instruction, do good deeds.
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਰਵਹਿ ਤਾ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Sadhaa Sadhaa Har Prabh Ravehi Thaa Paavehi Mokh Dhuaar ||1|| Rehaao ||
सदा सदा हरि प्रभु रवहि ता पावहि मोख दुआरु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Dwell forever and ever upon the Lord God, and you shall find the gate of salvation. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਣਾ ਕਾ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਏਕੁ ਹੈ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਇ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਪਾਏ ॥
Gunaa Kaa Nidhhaan Eaek Hai Aapae Dhaee Thaa Ko Paaeae ||
गुणा का निधानु एकु है आपे देइ ता को पाए ॥
The Lord alone is the treasure of virtue; He Himself gives, and then one receives.
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਸਭ ਵਿਛੁੜੀ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥੨॥
Bin Naavai Sabh Vishhurree Gur Kai Sabadh Milaaeae ||2||
बिनु नावै सभ विछुड़ी गुर कै सबदि मिलाए ॥२॥
Without the Name, all are separated from the Lord; through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, one meets the Lord. ||2||
ਮੇਰੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਘਟਿ ਗਏ ਤਿਨਾ ਹਥਿ ਕਿਹੁ ਨ ਆਇਆ ॥
Maeree Maeree Karadhae Ghatt Geae Thinaa Hathh Kihu N Aaeiaa ||
मेरी मेरी करदे घटि गए तिना हथि किहु न आइआ ॥
Acting in ego, they lose, and nothing comes into their hands.
ਸਤਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਸਚਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਸਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
Sathagur Miliai Sach Milae Sach Naam Samaaeiaa ||3||
सतगुरि मिलिऐ सचि मिले सचि नामि समाइआ ॥३॥
Meeting the True Guru, they find Truth, and merge into the True Name. ||3||
ਆਸਾ ਮਨਸਾ ਏਹੁ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਹੈ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਜਗਾਏ ॥
Aasaa Manasaa Eaehu Sareer Hai Anthar Joth Jagaaeae ||
आसा मनसा एहु सरीरु है अंतरि जोति जगाए ॥
Hope and desire abide in this body, but the Lord's Light shines within as well.
ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਬੰਧੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਕਰਾਏ ॥੪॥੩॥
Naanak Manamukh Bandhh Hai Guramukh Mukath Karaaeae ||4||3||
नानक मनमुखि बंधु है गुरमुखि मुकति कराए ॥४॥३॥
O Nanak, the self-willed manmukhs remain in bondage; the Gurmukhs are liberated. ||4||3||

Sohaaganee Sadhaa Mukh Oujalaa Gur Kai Sehaj Subhaae ||
सोहागणी सदा मुखु उजला गुर कै सहजि सुभाइ ॥
The faces of the happy soul-brides are radiant forever; through the Guru, they are peacefully poised.
ਸਦਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਰਾਵਹਿ ਆਪਣਾ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥੧॥
Sadhaa Pir Raavehi Aapanaa Vichahu Aap Gavaae ||1||
सदा पिरु रावहि आपणा विचहु आपु गवाइ ॥१॥
They enjoy their Husband Lord constantly, eradicating their ego from within. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਤੂ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥

मेरे मन तू हरि हरि नामु धिआइ ॥
O my mind, meditate on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.

सतगुरि मो कउ हरि दीआ बुझाइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

ਦੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਖਰੀਆ ਬਿਲਲਾਦੀਆ ਤਿਨਾ ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥
Dhohaaganee Khareeaa Bilalaadheeaa Thinaa Mehal N Paae ||
दोहागणी खरीआ बिललादीआ तिना महलु न पाइ ॥
The abandoned brides cry out in their suffering; they do not attain the Mansion of the Lord's Presence.
ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਕਰੂਪੀ ਦੂਖੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਆਗੈ ਜਾਇ ॥੨॥
Dhoojai Bhaae Karoopee Dhookh Paavehi Aagai Jaae ||2||
दूजै भाइ करूपी दूखु पावहि आगै जाइ ॥२॥
In the love of duality, they appear so ugly; they suffer in pain as they go to the world beyond. ||2||
ਗੁਣਵੰਤੀ ਨਿਤ ਗੁਣ ਰਵੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਾਇ ॥
Gunavanthee Nith Gun Ravai Hiradhai Naam Vasaae ||
गुणवंती नित गुण रवै हिरदै नामु वसाइ ॥
The virtuous soul-bride constantly chants the Glorious Praises of the Lord; she enshrines the Naam, the Name of the Lord, within her heart.
ਅਉਗਣਵੰਤੀ ਕਾਮਣੀ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਾਗੈ ਬਿਲਲਾਇ ॥੩॥
Aouganavanthee Kaamanee Dhukh Laagai Bilalaae ||3||
अउगणवंती कामणी दुखु लागै बिललाइ ॥३॥
The unvirtuous woman suffers, and cries out in pain. ||3||
ਸਭਨਾ ਕਾ ਭਤਾਰੁ ਏਕੁ ਹੈ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕਹਣਾ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
Sabhanaa Kaa Bhathaar Eaek Hai Suaamee Kehanaa Kishhoo N Jaae ||
सभना का भतारु एकु है सुआमी कहणा किछू न जाइ ॥
The One Lord and Master is the Husband Lord of all; His Praises cannot be expressed.
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪੇ ਵੇਕ ਕੀਤਿਅਨੁ ਨਾਮੇ ਲਇਅਨੁ ਲਾਇ ॥੪॥੪॥

O Nanak, He has separated some from Himself, while others are to His Name. ||4||4||

अम्रित नामु सद मीठा लागा गुर सबदी सादु आइआ ॥
The Ambrosial Nectar of the Naam is always sweet to me; through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, I come to taste it.
ਸਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
Sachee Baanee Sehaj Samaanee Har Jeeo Man Vasaaeiaa ||1||
सची बाणी सहजि समाणी हरि जीउ मनि वसाइआ ॥१॥
Through the True Word of the Guru's Bani, I am merged in peace and poise; the Dear Lord is enshrined in the mind. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਸਤਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥
Har Kar Kirapaa Sathaguroo Milaaeiaa ||
हरि करि किरपा सतगुरू मिलाइआ ॥
The Lord, showing His Mercy, has caused me to meet the True Guru.

ब्रहमै बेद बाणी परगासी माइआ मोह पसारा ॥
Through Brahma, the hymns of the Vedas were revealed, but the love of Maya spread.
ਮਹਾਦੇਉ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਵਰਤੈ ਘਰਿ ਆਪਣੈ ਤਾਮਸੁ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਅਹੰਕਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
Mehaadhaeo Giaanee Varathai Ghar Aapanai Thaamas Bahuth Ahankaaraa ||2||
महादेउ गिआनी वरतै घरि आपणै तामसु बहुतु अहंकारा ॥२॥
The wise one, Shiva, remains absorbed in himself, but he is engrossed in dark passions and excessive egotism. ||2||
ਕਿਸਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਅਵਤਾਰੀ ਰੂਧਾ ਕਿਤੁ ਲਗਿ ਤਰੈ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥
Kisan Sadhaa Avathaaree Roodhhaa Kith Lag Tharai Sansaaraa ||
किसनु सदा अवतारी रूधा कितु लगि तरै संसारा ॥
Vishnu is always busy reincarnating himself - who will save the world?
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਗਿਆਨਿ ਰਤੇ ਜੁਗ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਚੂਕੈ ਮੋਹ ਗੁਬਾਰਾ ॥੩॥
Guramukh Giaan Rathae Jug Anthar Chookai Moh Gubaaraa ||3||
गुरमुखि गिआनि रते जुग अंतरि चूकै मोह गुबारा ॥३॥
The Gurmukhs are imbued with spiritual wisdom in this age; they are rid of the darkness of emotional attachment. ||3||
ਸਤਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਤਰੈ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥
Sathagur Saevaa Thae Nisathaaraa Guramukh Tharai Sansaaraa ||
सतगुर सेवा ते निसतारा गुरमुखि तरै संसारा ॥
Serving the True Guru, one is emancipated; the Gurmukh crosses over the world-ocean.
ਸਾਚੈ ਨਾਇ ਰਤੇ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਪਾਇਨਿ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰਾ ॥੪॥
Saachai Naae Rathae Bairaagee Paaein Mokh Dhuaaraa ||4||
साचै नाइ रते बैरागी पाइनि मोख दुआरा ॥४॥
The detached renunciates are imbued with the True Name; they attain the gate of salvation. ||4||
ਏਕੋ ਸਚੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਸਭ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਭਨਾ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਾ ॥
Eaeko Sach Varathai Sabh Anthar Sabhanaa Karae Prathipaalaa ||
एको सचु वरतै सभ अंतरि सभना करे प्रतिपाला ॥
The One True Lord is pervading and permeating everywhere; He cherishes everyone.
ਨਾਨਕ ਇਕਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਮੈ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਾ ਸਭਨਾ ਦੀਵਾਨੁ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥੫॥੫॥
Naanak Eikas Bin Mai Avar N Jaanaa Sabhanaa Dheevaan Dhaeiaalaa ||5||5||
नानक इकसु बिनु मै अवरु न जाणा सभना दीवानु दइआला ॥५॥५॥
O Nanak, without the One Lord, I do not know any other; He is the Merciful Master of all. ||5||5||
