ਕਰਮ ਧਰਮ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾਉ ॥
Karam Dhharam Sach Saachaa Naao ||
करम धरम सचु साचा नाउ ॥
Those whose karma and Dharma - whose actions and faith - are in the True Name of the True Lord
ਤਾ ਕੈ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਉ ॥
Thaa Kai Sadh Balihaarai Jaao ||
ता कै सद बलिहारै जाउ ॥
I am forever a sacrifice to them.
ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥
Jo Har Raathae Sae Jan Paravaan ||
जो हरि राते से जन परवाणु ॥
Those who are imbued with the Lord are accepted and respected.
ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪਰਮ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ॥੨॥
Thin Kee Sangath Param Nidhhaan ||2||
तिन की संगति परम निधानु ॥२॥
In their company, the supreme wealth is obtained. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਵਰੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਧਨ ਨਾਰੀ ॥
Har Var Jin Paaeiaa Dhhan Naaree ||
हरि वरु जिनि पाइआ धन नारी ॥
Blessed is that bride, who has obtained the Lord as her Husband.
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥
Har Sio Raathee Sabadh Veechaaree ||
हरि सिउ राती सबदु वीचारी ॥
She is imbued with the Lord, and she reflects upon the Word of His Shabad.
ਆਪਿ ਤਰੈ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੁਲ ਤਾਰੈ ॥
Aap Tharai Sangath Kul Thaarai ||
आपि तरै संगति कुल तारै ॥
She saves herself, and saves her family and friends as well.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਤਤੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੈ ॥੩॥
Sathigur Saev Thath Veechaarai ||3||
सतिगुरु सेवि ततु वीचारै ॥३॥
She serves the True Guru, and contemplates the essence of reality. ||3||
ਹਮਰੀ ਜਾਤਿ ਪਤਿ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਉ ॥
Hamaree Jaath Path Sach Naao ||
हमरी जाति पति सचु नाउ ॥
The True Name is my social status and honor.
ਕਰਮ ਧਰਮ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਸਤ ਭਾਉ ॥
Karam Dhharam Sanjam Sath Bhaao ||
करम धरम संजमु सत भाउ ॥
The love of the Truth is my karma and Dharma - my faith and my actions, and my self-control.
ਨਾਨਕ ਬਖਸੇ ਪੂਛ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
Naanak Bakhasae Pooshh N Hoe ||
नानक बखसे पूछ न होइ ॥
O Nanak, one who is forgiven by the Lord is not called to account.
ਦੂਜਾ ਮੇਟੇ ਏਕੋ ਸੋਇ ॥੪॥੧੪॥
Dhoojaa Maettae Eaeko Soe ||4||14||
दूजा मेटे एको सोइ ॥४॥१४॥
The One Lord erases duality. ||4||14||

Aasaa, First Mehl:
ਇਕਿ ਆਵਹਿ ਇਕਿ ਜਾਵਹਿ ਆਈ ॥
Eik Aavehi Eik Jaavehi Aaee ||
इकि आवहि इकि जावहि आई ॥
Some come, and after they come, they go.
ਇਕਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਰਹਹਿ ਸਮਾਈ ॥
Eik Har Raathae Rehehi Samaaee ||
इकि हरि राते रहहि समाई ॥
Some are imbued with the Lord; they remain absorbed in Him.
ਇਕਿ ਧਰਨਿ ਗਗਨ ਮਹਿ ਠਉਰ ਨ ਪਾਵਹਿ ॥
Eik Dhharan Gagan Mehi Thour N Paavehi ||
इकि धरनि गगन महि ठउर न पावहि ॥
Some find no place of rest at all, on the earth or in the sky.
ਸੇ ਕਰਮਹੀਣ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ॥੧॥
Sae Karameheen Har Naam N Dhhiaavehi ||1||
से करमहीण हरि नामु न धिआवहि ॥१॥
Those who do not meditate on the Name of the Lord are the most unfortunate. ||1||
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਤੇ ਗਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
Gur Poorae Thae Gath Mith Paaee ||
गुर पूरे ते गति मिति पाई ॥
From the Perfect Guru, the way to salvation is obtained.
ਇਹੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਬਿਖੁ ਵਤ ਅਤਿ ਭਉਜਲੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਲੰਘਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Eihu Sansaar Bikh Vath Ath Bhoujal Gur Sabadhee Har Paar Langhaaee ||1|| Rehaao ||
इहु संसारु बिखु वत अति भउजलु गुर सबदी हरि पारि लंघाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
This world is a terrifying ocean of poison; through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, the Lord helps us cross over. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਕਉ ਆਪਿ ਲਏ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਲਿ ॥
Jinh Ko Aap Leae Prabh Mael ||
जिन्ह कउ आपि लए प्रभु मेलि ॥
Those, whom God unites with Himself,
ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਕਾਲੁ ਨ ਸਾਕੈ ਪੇਲਿ ॥
Thin Ko Kaal N Saakai Pael ||
तिन कउ कालु न साकै पेलि ॥
Cannot be crushed by death.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਰਹਹਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
Guramukh Niramal Rehehi Piaarae ||
गुरमुखि निरमल रहहि पिआरे ॥
The beloved Gurmukhs remain immaculately pure,
ਜਿਉ ਜਲ ਅੰਭ ਊਪਰਿ ਕਮਲ ਨਿਰਾਰੇ ॥੨॥
Jio Jal Anbh Oopar Kamal Niraarae ||2||
जिउ जल अ्मभ ऊपरि कमल निरारे ॥२॥
Like the lotus in the water, which remains untouched. ||2||
ਬੁਰਾ ਭਲਾ ਕਹੁ ਕਿਸ ਨੋ ਕਹੀਐ ॥
Buraa Bhalaa Kahu Kis No Keheeai ||
बुरा भला कहु किस नो कहीऐ ॥
Tell me: who should we call good or bad?
ਦੀਸੈ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਚੁ ਲਹੀਐ ॥
Dheesai Breham Guramukh Sach Leheeai ||
दीसै ब्रहमु गुरमुखि सचु लहीऐ ॥
Behold the Lord God; the truth is revealed to the Gurmukh.
ਅਕਥੁ ਕਥਉ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
Akathh Kathho Guramath Veechaar ||
अकथु कथउ गुरमति वीचारु ॥
I speak the Unspoken Speech of the Lord, contemplating the Guru's Teachings.
ਮਿਲਿ ਗੁਰ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪਾਵਉ ਪਾਰੁ ॥੩॥
Mil Gur Sangath Paavo Paar ||3||
मिलि गुर संगति पावउ पारु ॥३॥
I join the Sangat, the Guru's Congregation, and I find God's limits. ||3||
ਸਾਸਤ ਬੇਦ ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਬਹੁ ਭੇਦ ॥
Saasath Baedh Sinmrith Bahu Bhaedh ||
सासत बेद सिम्रिति बहु भेद ॥
The Shaastras, the Vedas, the Simritees and all their many secrets;
ਅਠਸਠਿ ਮਜਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਰੇਦ ॥
Athasath Majan Har Ras Raedh ||
अठसठि मजनु हरि रसु रेद ॥
Bathing at the sixty-eight holy places of pilgrimage - all this is found by enshrining the sublime essence of the Lord in the heart.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਮੈਲੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ॥
Guramukh Niramal Mail N Laagai ||
गुरमुखि निरमलु मैलु न लागै ॥
The Gurmukhs are immaculately pure; no filth sticks to them.
ਨਾਨਕ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਡੇ ਧੁਰਿ ਭਾਗੈ ॥੪॥੧੫॥
Naanak Hiradhai Naam Vaddae Dhhur Bhaagai ||4||15||
नानक हिरदै नामु वडे धुरि भागै ॥४॥१५॥
O Nanak, the Naam, the Name of the Lord, abides in the heart, by the greatest pre-ordained destiny. ||4||15||

Niv Niv Paae Lago Gur Apunae Aatham Raam Nihaariaa ||
निवि निवि पाइ लगउ गुर अपुने आतम रामु निहारिआ ॥
Bowing down, again and again, I fall at the Feet of my Guru; through Him, I have seen the Lord, the Divine Self, within.
ਕਰਤ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਹਰਿ ਰਵਿਆ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਦੇਖਿ ਬੀਚਾਰਿਆ ॥੧॥
Karath Beechaar Hiradhai Har Raviaa Hiradhai Dhaekh Beechaariaa ||1||
करत बीचारु हिरदै हरि रविआ हिरदै देखि बीचारिआ ॥१॥
Through contemplation and meditation, the Lord dwells within the heart; see this, and understand. ||1||
ਬੋਲਹੁ ਰਾਮੁ ਕਰੇ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ॥
Bolahu Raam Karae Nisathaaraa ||
बोलहु रामु करे निसतारा ॥
So speak the Lord's Name, which shall emancipate you.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਰਤਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਭੈ ਮਿਟੈ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਹੋਇ ਉਜੀਆਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Gur Parasaadh Rathan Har Laabhai Mittai Agiaan Hoe Oujeeaaraa ||1|| Rehaao ||
गुर परसादि रतनु हरि लाभै मिटै अगिआनु होइ उजीआरा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
By Guru's Grace, the jewel of the Lord is found; ignorance is dispelled, and the Divine Light shines forth. ||1||Pause||
ਰਵਨੀ ਰਵੈ ਬੰਧਨ ਨਹੀ ਤੂਟਹਿ ਵਿਚਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਭਰਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
Ravanee Ravai Bandhhan Nehee Thoottehi Vich Houmai Bharam N Jaaee ||
रवनी रवै बंधन नही तूटहि विचि हउमै भरमु न जाई ॥
By merely saying it with the tongue, one's bonds are not broken, and egotism and doubt do not depart from within.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤ ਹਉਮੈ ਤੂਟੈ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਲੇਖੈ ਪਾਈ ॥੨॥
Sathigur Milai Th Houmai Thoottai Thaa Ko Laekhai Paaee ||2||
सतिगुरु मिलै त हउमै तूटै ता को लेखै पाई ॥२॥
But when one meets the True Guru, egotism departs, and then, one realizes his destiny. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਉਰ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
Har Har Naam Bhagath Pria Preetham Sukh Saagar Our Dhhaarae ||
हरि हरि नामु भगति प्रिअ प्रीतमु सुख सागरु उर धारे ॥
The Name of the Lord, Har, Har, is sweet and dear to His devotees; it is the ocean of peace - enshrine it within the heart.
ਭਗਤਿ ਵਛਲੁ ਜਗਜੀਵਨੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਮਤਿ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥੩॥
Bhagath Vashhal Jagajeevan Dhaathaa Math Guramath Har Nisathaarae ||3||
भगति वछलु जगजीवनु दाता मति गुरमति हरि निसतारे ॥३॥
The Lover of His devotees, the Life of the World, the Lord bestows the Guru's Teachings upon the intellect, and one is emancipated. ||3||
ਮਨ ਸਿਉ ਜੂਝਿ ਮਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਏ ਮਨਸਾ ਮਨਹਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥
Man Sio Joojh Marai Prabh Paaeae Manasaa Manehi Samaaeae ||
मन सिउ जूझि मरै प्रभु पाए मनसा मनहि समाए ॥
One who dies fighting against his own stubborn mind finds God, and the desires of the mind are quieted.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਜਗਜੀਵਨੁ ਸਹਜ ਭਾਇ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ ॥੪॥੧੬॥
Naanak Kirapaa Karae Jagajeevan Sehaj Bhaae Liv Laaeae ||4||16||
नानक क्रिपा करे जगजीवनु सहज भाइ लिव लाए ॥४॥१६॥
O Nanak, if the Life of the World bestows His Mercy, one is intuitively attuned to the Love of the Lord. ||4||16||

Kis Ko Kehehi Sunaavehi Kis Ko Kis Samajhaavehi Samajh Rehae ||
किस कउ कहहि सुणावहि किस कउ किसु समझावहि समझि रहे ॥
Unto whom do they speak? Unto whom do they preach? Who understands? Let them understand themselves.
ਕਿਸੈ ਪੜਾਵਹਿ ਪੜਿ ਗੁਣਿ ਬੂਝੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੰਤੋਖਿ ਰਹੇ ॥੧॥
Kisai Parraavehi Parr Gun Boojhae Sathigur Sabadh Santhokh Rehae ||1||
किसै पड़ावहि पड़ि गुणि बूझे सतिगुर सबदि संतोखि रहे ॥१॥
Who do they teach? Through study, they come to realize the Lord's Glorious Virtues. Through the Shabad, the Word of the True Guru, they come to dwell in contentment. ||1||
ਐਸਾ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਰਮਤੁ ਸਰੀਰਾ ॥
Aisaa Guramath Ramath Sareeraa ||
ऐसा गुरमति रमतु सरीरा ॥
Through the Guru's Teachings, realize that He is pervading in all bodies;
